Ser Humfrey Hardyng
As a tournament knight, Ser Humfrey Hardyng has built up a good reputation. About a year before the tournament in Ashford, he won another tournament at Maidenpool. He was to compete as one of five for the honor of the 13-year-old daughter of the hosting lord in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
During the jousting against Prince Aerion Targaryen, the prince’s lance pierces the neck of Ser Humfrey’s horse, which then falls. Although Hardyng was declared the winner, he could not continue participating in the tournament due to his injured leg from the fall.
Why does he fight for Duncan? It is not quite sure why Ser Humfrey joins Duncan. In episode 4, he tells Duncan that Aerion has a debt to pay. Perhaps he is motivated not only by Dunc’s chivalric behavior but also by the thought of getting back at Aerion for his leg and his horse.
Ser Humfrey Beesbury
The second Humfrey on Team Dunc is Ser Humfrey Beesbury, who belongs to the house of the same name. He is the brother of Ser Humfrey Hardyng. During the tournament in Ashford, he and his brother broke twelve lances before their fight was decided. The audience jokingly called the tournament the Battle of the Humfreys
.
Why does he fight for Duncan? It is not clear why Beesbury joins Duncan. However, it can be assumed that he wants to fight alongside his brother and defend his honor.

Ser Raymun Fossoway
Raymun Fossoway is the first friendly face that Duncan meets in Ashford. After several apple word plays, Raymun tries to convince Duncan to duel against his cousin Steffon Fossoway. Later he apologizes for that.
After Aerion Targaryen kills Ser Humfrey Hardyng’s horse during the jousting, he again invites Dunc for a cider. There, Raymun has strong words for the Targaryens, about whom he thinks very little.
He solidifies his status as Dunc’s best friend (at least at that time) later: When Dunc is in prison due to his fight with Aerion, Raymun takes care of his horses and brings Dunc to the dry Fossoway tent. There, Raymun’s cousin Steffon ultimately swears to fight with Dunc and also to hire other knights.
Why does he fight for Duncan? Originally, Raymun Fossoway is not a knight when the judgment of the Seven is about to begin. He is Ser Steffon’s squire. But when it turns out that Ser Steffon has sold himself to Aerion, he abruptly ends his service. He almost begs Dunc to knight him so they can fight side by side. Raymun wants to repair the shame his cousin has brought upon the family.
However, another than Dunc has the honor of the knighthood: Lord Lyonel Baratheon.
