What kind of game is this? Chrono Odyssey is an upcoming fantasy MMORPG from the South Korean studio NPIXEL. Players will explore the open world of Setera. A central element of the game is the “Chronotector”, an artifact that allows for time manipulation. This gives players the opportunity to pause or rewind time, gaining strategic advantages in combat.
Alongside intense PvE and PvP battles, the game also offers challenging dungeons and raids that can be completed alone or in teams. Additionally, you can contribute to the in-game economy with typical MMORPG activities such as collecting and crafting.
What sets the graphics apart? Chrono Odyssey impresses with stunning visual effects made possible by using Unreal Engine 5. The game world is rich in detail and varies widely, featuring different biomes like grasslands, snow fields, and swamps.
Regarding characters, Chrono Odyssey shows impressive faces depicted with many details. Tattoos, paint, scratches, scars, and even skin diseases like pigment disorders are visible.
The open world allows players to explore different terrains seamlessly. Dynamic weather effects and realistic day-night cycles further enhance immersion and influence gameplay in various ways.
Where does the MMORPG struggle? Despite offering innovative features and impressive graphics, there are concerns about the monetization model, which has not been announced yet.
Furthermore, the stated system requirements on Steam hardly match the impressive graphics shown in developer gameplays. Whether the 10-year-old AMD FX-8310 will still manage to run the MMORPG is doubtful.
Additionally, it remains to be seen how balanced the time manipulation mechanics will be in PvP and PvE to ensure a fair gaming experience.
Where can you play it? Chrono Odyssey will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
