World of Warcraft is praised for many things, including the combat system. Although “Tab Targeting” is somewhat outdated, the abilities in WoW have a very special feel that has always been well generated by the designers. Every ability feels “heavy,” and no matter which spell one casts, the impact can be felt.
Of course, there are spells and abilities that do this a little better than others, and with which one feels significantly more powerful than with others. Here we present the five abilities with the best gameplay feel.
This is not about numerical values – which spell produces the largest number on the screen – but simply about which ability feels the best.
For this list, we have used spells and abilities that still exist in the current version of World of Warcraft – specifically the ongoing expansion “The War Within”.
Void Eruption
Class: Priest (Shadow)
With Legion, Void Eruption was introduced, and even though it has lost some of its shine, it is still one of the most fulfilling spells in World of Warcraft.
During Void Eruption, the priest rises into the air and levitates slightly above the ground, while numerous shadow bolts fly towards the current target.
This eruption triggers the Voidform – an enhanced Shadowform that grants access to new spells and deals more damage. These new spells also allow the shadow priest to be a bit more mobile and cast some spells while moving (like Void Bolt). Although this is just a temporary bonus, it can make a significant difference in certain fights.
Especially cool: The longer you manage to maintain Voidform, the more tentacles sprout from your body, while whispers of the Void can be heard, continuing until you ultimately leave Voidform.
There is no other ability in the game that embodies the madness and the euphoria of the Void as much as Void Eruption.
