What is it? For those who expected Marvel Future Revolution to be the mobile version of Marvel’s Avengers, they were mistaken. It is more of a successor to the successful mobile hit Marvel Future Fight. The developer is once again the Korean studio Netmarble, which was also responsible for the popular mobile MMO Lineage 2 Revolution.
Marvel Future Revolution is an open-world action RPG. The story is by Marvel writer Marc Sumerak and has nothing to do with the current MCU setting of the movies and series. Nevertheless, the story fits into the MCU, as Future Revolution also deals with parallel dimensions and the problems that arise when several of them suddenly collide.
What are the core features? In the game, you take on the role of a well-known Marvel hero, such as Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange, Iron Man, or Star-Lord. You can switch heroes between missions at any time, depending on whose skills and abilities suit you best.
In the game, you explore large, open maps and take down massive numbers of enemies. This can be done in autoplay, but you can also manually execute the numerous skills and moves of your heroes and evade devastating area attacks with acrobatics and finesse.
Each hero plays differently and has unique skills. For example, Star-Lord is a nimble ranged fighter with nasty tricks, while Storm from the X-Men series deals heavy damage but is relatively weak in close combat.
Leveling up and optimizing the heroes is an important feature of the game, but the story is also very enjoyable. So, if you’re looking for something like a Marvel movie to play along with, you’re definitely in the right place.
Who should play it? Marvel Future Revolution is aimed both at fans of the predecessor Future Fight and, of course, at Marvel fans. Those who know and love the movies and comics will be immersed at every turn. This starts with the very atmospheric tutorial missions of the heroes and culminates in the lovingly told stories and quests that come throughout the game.
