Ash Ketchum is probably one of the buffest 11-year-olds in the world of Pokémon. And not just as a trainer, but also through pure muscle strength. He can effortlessly carry Pokémon in his arms that are heavier than himself.
What is ignored at the sight of Ash and his Pokémon? In various episodes of the Pokémon anime, Ash can be seen holding different Pokémon in his arms, prominently his Pikachu, which he often carries on his shoulder.
However, how impressive this is only becomes clear when you consider how heavy his friends actually are. His Pikachu weighs 6 kg – absolutely manageable, but over time still a considerable burden.
Yet, this is even one of the lighter Pokémon on his team.
Ash lifts more kilos than an 11-year-old boy himself weighs
How strong is Ash Ketchum? A TikToker and gym-goer tested how much weight Ash can lift and has to lift when he raises his Pokémon.
Pikachu is actually one of the more relaxed candidates. But then there are also Pokémon like Dartignis weighing 16 kg, Tauboga weighing 40 kg, and even a Larvitar weighing a whopping 50 kg.
This is more than an average 11-year-old boy who weighs around 40 kg (Source: Robert Koch Institute).

Which Pokémon is a real heavyweight? In the TikToker’s video, the Pokémon Cosmovum is also seen, the intermediate evolution of Cosmog and Solgaleo, or Lunala. The small 10 cm Cosmovum weighs a staggering ton (!) … and is relaxing in Ash Ketchum’s hands.
However, it must be noted that Cosmovum can float. So no matter how heavy it may be: as long as it is floating, it could also be held by a significantly weaker child – at least until it eventually becomes too tired to float.
