Clearly a much better-known character on the list: At position 6 is Carol Danvers, better known as Captain Marvel. Born as a human, she became a member of the US Air Force and an agent. During this time, she had contact with the Kree Mar-Vell. In a battle, she received her powers from the Psyche-Magnitron (a machine used to grant superpowers).
In Guardians of the Galaxy #14 from 2014, she joined the team along with Agent Venom. At that time, there was no trace of Star-Lord. She was intended to be a connection between the Avengers and the Guardians as a heroine.
Her power comes from the accident with the Magnitron (or later through the retcon because of her Kree mother). She can fly in space, has superhuman strength and resilience, and can absorb energy after undergoing experiments by the Brood. If she absorbs enough energy, she reaches binary form. She was especially powerful after she attained the power of a white hole.
