The story in Star Wars: The Old Republic returns to its roots with the next expansion 6.0. The focus will be on a war between the Republic and the Empire.
In a Twitch livestream, it was confirmed by Bioware, Eric Musco, and Charles Boyd, what many fans have been longing for. Calls for a traditional expansion have grown and these have now been heard. SWTOR 6.0 will not be a content morsel, but the next big addon for the Star Wars MMORPG. It is meant to rejuvenate the core conflict between the two factions, Empire and Republic.
Insider sources had previously stated, that BioWare might abandon SWTOR in favor of the new shooter Anthem. This rumor has not materialized yet.
Before the release of 6.0, at least 5.9 and 5.10 are still to come
After Patch 5.8, which brought a challenging raid in March, the next one is 5.9, the Nathema Conspiracy. This patch will conclude the story of the same name. The update will be released in early May and is expected to enrich the MMO with new upgrades, a flashpoint, and the old companions Felix Iresso, Mako, and Akaav.
According to Bioware, 5.9 will not be the last major update before the expansion arrives. Players can expect the content expansion 5.10 before that.
And PvP will also be addressed. A new warzone, PvP events, new PvP gear, and improvements in the ranked mode are being discussed. Scholars and Sorcerers can also expect a buff soon.
No release date for SWTOR 6.0 has been mentioned. Only a note that it has already been set.
