In Subnautica 2 resources are scarce and the further you progress in the game, the less you can find in the world.
What does the metal farm bring? The metal farm is one of the most important structures that you can build in Subnautica 2. It is a so-called portable mine that can produce resources for you, primarily minerals.
You place a piece of silver, copper, or celestine in it, and after a short wait, you can destroy the glass container with your sonic resonator with double or triple the amount of resources to fill your pockets.
Of course, these metal farms need enough energy and space, but if you can spare that, you will never be short of metals. Unfortunately, you cannot build these devices from the beginning. You have to look for them in a very specific location to unlock them, and we’ll show you where.
Location of the metal farms
How do I unlock the metal farms? In order to build them, you need to unlock the blueprint for this device, and you can only do that by scanning decommissioned metal farms. In total, you need to photograph three specimens.
Where do I find the metal farms? The metal farms are located in a very specific place, but to get there, you first need a depth module for your tadpole – this will allow you to reach deeper areas in Subnautica 2. Once your vehicle is well-equipped, head to the research outpost. Turn your compass to 100 degrees and swim down until you reach the angel ridge.
Now turn northeast and continue swimming into the gorge until you see a green shimmer in the distance – there are the decommissioned metal farms. Approach the glowing aura, and on the left side, you will see several tall cylinders arranged in a row of three. If you scan a trio, you will automatically unlock the blueprint for the metal farm.
What do I need to be able to build the metal farm? Overall, you need two things:
- 1x manganese alloy bar
- Can be built with:
- 1x titanium ingot
- 1x atacamite
- 1x troilit
- Can be built with:
- 1x Axum bacteria culture
- Found in the green aura near the alien metal farm
With these two resources, you can build a farm.
