Actually, it was supposed to be just a small charity action by a Polish influencer, but what has happened in the last nine days exceeds all expectations of a streaming event.
Who is it about? Patryk “Łatwogang” Garkowski initially intended to raise “only” a six-figure amount, specifically 500,000 Złoty (around 117,000 €). This money was to benefit the “Cancer Fighters” foundation, which supports children and adolescents with cancer.
The streamer is not exactly one of the global stars in the streaming scene, so the goal was already set high. However, what began as a regional charity stream developed a momentum that completely overturned even the boldest expectations of the organizers within hours.
When Superstars Fuel the Hype
How did the action go? Anyone who has ever watched a charity stream knows the moment when a donation goal is reached. However, with Łatwogang, this happened so quickly that the organizers could hardly keep up. The 117,000 € were in the bag in no time – and instead of leveling off, the stream really exploded afterwards.
What started as a small donation campaign by a streamer became a wildfire that swept through half the country. The viewer numbers shot into the seven-digit range, peaking at 1.6 million people watching simultaneously. The large number of viewers quickly called for prominent support, further fueling the hype:
- The Polish Counter-Strike legend “pashaBiceps” auctioned off a faithful knife to donate the amount.
- Companies participated with donations.
- Prominent guests such as actress Aleksandra Domanska or Olympic speed skater Vladimir Semirunniy shaved their heads live on stream in solidarity with the children. Semirunniy even brought his Olympic silver medal for an auction.
- Football stars like Robert Lewandowski and Wojciech Szczęsny became part of the stream. Szczęsny further fueled the dynamics with a crazy bet: If the incredible mark of 150 million Złoty was reached, he would get Lamine Yamal, the greatest prodigy from FC Barcelona, on board for the campaign.
This worked out, and a viral TikTok along with Yamal and a charity song broke all records in no time.
What record was broken? There are always charity events that raise large donations. For example, Gronkh and PietSmiet raise millions of Euros for a good cause each year with their Friendly Fire in Germany.
In France, the Z-Event is considered the absolute benchmark. The four-day stream held the Guinness World Record of 16.2 million Euros raised live. However, this mark was literally pulverized by Łatwogang’s stream.
Driven by this momentum and the countless celebrities, the stream continued for nine days. When the counter finally stopped, the YouTuber, who initially wanted to raise only 117,000 €, had astonishingly gathered 250 million Złoty – which is nearly 60 million Euros.
Thus, the event not only exceeded the original goal multiple times, but also more than doubled the official world record.
