In Space Marine 2 you have a total of 6 different classes to choose from, with which you can complete various PvE operations as well as PvP. We will show you here in our tier list of the best classes which classes are particularly worthwhile in PvE.
How is the tier list created? We took a look at the six classes of Space Marine 2 and tested them in the PvE operations ourselves. We also looked around on social networks and incorporated the community’s opinions into our ratings.
Of course, a tier list is always influenced by the author’s subjective opinion. If you see other classes at the top, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
The best classes of Space Marine 2 in the tier list
So that you can see the best classes of Space Marine 2 in a brief overview, we have ranked them in a tier list for you. Here you see all classes in the ranking:
- S-Tier: Tactician
- A-Tier: Defender
- B-Tier: Sniper, Scout
- C-Tier: Destroyer
- D-Tier: Attacker
At the top of the Space Marines are the Tactician and the Defender, closely followed by the Sniper. This trio is also the ideal choice if you want to face the operations.
The Scout and the Destroyer have their own strengths but fall short in direct comparison to the three front-runners. However, you should avoid the Attacker. Everything he does well, another class does better.
What makes the classes so good or bad?
Tactician – S-Tier
The Tactician is the ideal all-rounder among the Space Marines. He is good in close combat and has a strong weapon for add-clear with the melter gun. Additionally, the Tactician can deal significant damage to single stronger targets because his ability, the auspex scan, increases damage against scanned enemies.
If the Tactician has a “disadvantage,” it is that he is not the best in various areas. The Defender is better in close combat, the Sniper deals more damage to single targets, and the Destroyer is better at add-clear.
Overall, however, the Tactician is really good at everything that matters in combat. You can even complete missions at higher difficulty levels solo with him.
Defender – A-Tier
The Defender is a true tank. He is really good at staying alive. If an Attacker or Scout is already defeated and lying on the ground, it is the Defender who helps his fallen comrade back on their feet. With his ability, the chapter banner, he can even regenerate the hit points of his squad.
However, with the Defender, you will probably struggle to play missions solo at higher difficulty levels because the Space Marine has no primary weapon and deals little damage to single stronger enemies.
The Defender’s great strength is taking a lot of damage and allowing his comrades to deal a lot of damage in the meantime. In this respect, the Defender performs noticeably better than the Attacker or Destroyer.
Sniper – B-Tier
The Sniper is probably the best Space Marine when it comes to dealing a lot of damage to a single target. The difficulty lies in managing your ammunition reserves appropriately and not suddenly facing the Tyranids with an empty chamber.
Additionally, the efficiency of the Sniper depends on your accuracy. If you miss a moving target, you waste valuable ammunition.
The Sniper is also a good medic. He can revive fallen comrades 30% faster thanks to a perk. Additionally, he can conceal himself and a teammate from enemies during a resurrection with another perk.
Scout – B-Tier
Just behind the Sniper comes the Scout. This class is strong in add-clear and brings an extremely useful buff for its comrades: Through the perk “Inner Fire,” team members restore 15% of their ability charge when they execute finishers.
In addition, the Scout has the perk “Spearhead,” which inflicts a debuff on enemies: If you hit foes with a kick, they suffer 15% more ranged damage for 10 seconds. This allows other Space Marines, like the Sniper, to deal even more damage against strong enemies that need to be defeated quickly.
Destroyer – C-Tier
The Destroyer has a difficult position. He is fun and really good at add-clear – especially in tight spaces. The problem is that adds rarely pose a challenge, and with the Tactician and Defender, we are sufficiently equipped for small Tyranids.
What this team combination lacks is a Space Marine that helps eliminate the stronger opponents. Here, the Sniper and Scout perform noticeably better than the Destroyer. In tight maps, where the Sniper cannot shine as well and has issues, it still makes sense to take the Destroyer as the third Space Marine.
The Destroyer could climb higher in our tier list in the future, but for now, we see him still below the Sniper and Scout.
Attacker – D-Tier
The Attacker suffers because the other classes are simply better in various areas of the game right now. For add-clear, it is usually more sensible to choose the Tactician or Destroyer.
The big feature of the Attacker is the jump module, which allows you to jump high into the air and crash down on your enemies with a devastating attack. However, this jump module feels significantly weaker in missions than in the campaign. Titus simply has a better grip on the jetpack. Additionally, many maps in missions have lower ceilings. The developers have also said in a Q&A that they are looking into the issue and considering how they can work on it (via focus-entmt.com)
Compared to the Defender, it is even more noticeable that the Attacker has no primary weapon. Generally, it is easier to stay alive with the Defender. Unless Saber Interactive finds a solution for the weaknesses of the jump module, we unfortunately see the Attacker at the bottom of the tier list.
