Warframe will soon receive a new, massive expansion called Fortuna. The update takes players to an open-world map located on Venus. We were allowed to see fresh gameplay and share it here with you.
What kind of video is this? The video belongs to an online tour given to us by the developers at Digital Extremes. It showcases fresh gameplay of the new open-world expansion Fortuna. The material shown is essentially the finished version of the update, which is now just getting the final polish.
When will the update release? Fortuna will be released in November 2018 on PC. There is no exact release date yet. The PS4 and Xbox One will be available later.

What is Fortuna? The massive open-world expansion takes players to Orb Vallis. This area is approximately five times the size of the first open-world map “Plains of Eidolon“. Orb Vallis is located on Venus and is covered in icy snow.
The greedy faction of the Corpus exploits the planet and its inhabitants, the Solaris United. The players’ task will be to protect Orb Vallis from the Corpus and their machinations.
These contents will be available on the open-world map at the release of Fortuna:
New Warframe Garuda: Garuda will be the most brutal Warframe to date. She possesses long claws with which she tears apart her enemies and converts their blood into a shield for herself. The lower Garuda’s health, the more damage she deals. She will not have a dedicated quest in Fortuna.
Crafting sidearms: On the Plains of Eidolon, players craft melee weapons themselves. With Fortuna, they can do this with sidearms, like pistols, at the NPC “Rude Zuut”. The weapons consist of three parts and are called Kitgun.
Hoverboards: With the K-Drive, players get hoverboards that allow them to perform crazy stunts. There will also be a hidden faction of teenagers who rebel against the capitalist Corpus with music and spray art. Players who do parkour with the hoverboards, like in Tony Hawk, will impress the kids and unlock cosmetics for their board.
New pet Moa: There are already cats and dogs in Warframe. Now, small two-legged robots are also being added. The Moa are built by the NPC Legs and can be customized according to personal preferences. For example, there is a head shaped like a cylinder.
Especially cute details: The Moa crawl on their belly when the player crouches and roam freely around their spaceship. They can interact with the player and wave happily with their little feet.
New robotic fish: Plains of Eidolon introduced fishing and fish are important resources in Warframe. On Orb Vallis, there will be robotic fish for which new spears will be introduced. Players will need more skill to fish now, catching them at the right moment on a bar that ticks back and forth.
Hidden caves: On the map, there are massive cave systems that are, however, quite well hidden. Digital Extremes hopes that players will use them to explore the map of Orb Vallis. There is no marker indicating the caves. However, there are important resources inside, such as robotic fish.
Catch and rescue animals: The Corpus use the animals of Venus for experiments. On Orb Vallis, there are traces of animals that players can track. With a horn that imitates animal sounds, players can catch the animals and teleport them to a safe place.

What else is there to know about Fortuna?
- Players can unlock the new open-world map early. There will be easier level 1 quests and more difficult ones for advanced Space Ninjas.
- A development of the main Lotus story, like “Sacrifice“, will not come via Fortuna.
- Fortuna will have more rewards than the Plains of Eidolon
- There will be a day-night cycle in Orb Vallis
- Players can raid the Corpus in their bases
- There will also be huge spider enemies comparable to the Eidolon bosses of the Plains of Eidolon. The spiders will be present at release, but players will be able to fight them only at a later time.
- Warframe will then have huge space battles in 2019. These are part of Orb Vallis and Venus, but will not come with the Fortuna update in November.
