Rare Sea of Thieves was one of the highlights at this year’s E3 game fair. However, the developer has now announced that they will not show anything new about the game this year.
Sea of Thieves puts players in the role of pirates who navigate the seas with their own ships, search for treasures on islands, and must face off against each other as well as against AI enemies like the undead. To steer a ship, a crew is needed, where everyone has their tasks to fulfill. Naval battles certainly also play a role. All of this sounds really exciting, and the first trailer makes one eager for the finished game. But it will take a while before we learn more about Sea of Thieves.

Aaron Greenberg, Head of First-Party and Third-Party Development at Microsoft’s Xbox division, explains that no more information will be shared about the game before 2016. However, Microsoft’s Kudo Tsunodo recently stated that Sea of Thieves would be Rare’s most ambitious game to date.

Apparently, the sandbox aspect is at the forefront, as the online pirate game is supposed to allow players to experience their own adventures. Sea of Thieves will be released for both Xbox One and PC. However, it seems for the operating system Windows 10 only. A release date has not yet been set. One may be curious about what Rare will announce about the game in the coming year. Perhaps more will also be revealed about the release date. It is possible that Sea of Thieves will adopt a Free2Play model.
