Using trading codes – here’s how
How do the codes work? The codes are designed for as many players in the community as possible to learn about them and use them to help each other. To perform such a code swap, follow these steps:
- Select the appropriate code from the list and have the corresponding Pokémon ready
- Open your menu and follow the path: Multiplayer/Online → Link Trade → Distant Players → Link Code
- Then enter the trade code from the list and wait – this can unfortunately take a while
- If a suitable trading partner is found who uses the same code, you can carry out the trade
- Once you’ve traded, your desired Pokémon will evolve
Make sure that your trading partner really offers the desired Pokémon and, if necessary, the correct item for the trade. Additionally, be careful not to accidentally trade away your rare shinies.
The system relies on trust and on as many players using these codes as possible. It can also happen that you may not find anyone using the code at the same time for a while. Just try again later.
Especially when you’re on the hunt for shinies, it can take quite a while to reach your desired goal. However, you can easily catch a shiny Pokémon during a side mission.
