What kind of research is it about? As part of the Halloween event 2021, Pokémon GO has once again made new tasks available. Among them is a new limited research where everything revolves around the Halloween Cup and the Super League of the GO Battle League.
Like every limited research, it is only active during the event period. This means that you must complete the tasks by the end of the Halloween event on October 31, 2021, at 8:00 PM local time. You also need to collect the corresponding rewards by then, otherwise, they will disappear after the deadline. As a reward, you will receive various Pokémon from this research.
However, a trainer advises to wait before redeeming these tasks. We show you why this can help you.
That’s why you should wait to redeem
Alongside the limited research, the new special research “What is hidden behind the mask?” has been published. In this, you have to catch numerous ghost-type Pokémon. In particular, the third part of this research could initially pose a challenge for some trainers.
This was also noted by the trainer WestLA-native. He made a clear note to other Pokémon GO players and published it on reddit: “Wait to redeem the limited Halloween Cup research until you reach part 3 of the special research ‘Under the Mask’.” (via reddit.com).
The reason for this is the task that awaits players in this part. You are to catch 9 different Pokémon of the ghost type. At first glance, this doesn’t seem too bad, as the Halloween event is running, and some ghosts are spawning. However, they are often the same ones.
If you hold off on redeeming the rewards of the limited research, you can find Makabaja, Galar-Makabaja, Zobiris, and Quabbel there. These are all ghost types and currently do not spawn very frequently in the wild.
Attention! But make sure to redeem your limited research in time before it expires, otherwise the rewards will be lost!
Can the task be solved without limited research?
All trainers who have already redeemed their limited Halloween research can breathe a sigh of relief. You can still complete the special research during the current event, but you will need some patience.

Monsters from Raids: Other trainers, such as Arizzira, also point out that there are one or two monsters to catch in the raids. So if you don’t want to wait until the second part of the Halloween event, you can also encounter the missing ghost Pokémon through this.
Arizzira states: “Nebulak, Shuppet, Makabaja, Traunfugil, Driftlon, and Quabbel are out in the wild. Giratina, Mega-Gengar, Drifzepeli, Zobiris, and Banette are in the raids. Quite well planned, so if you don’t want to wait, then you have to raid. You have the choice!” (via reddit.com).
More options: But there are still other ways to obtain the missing ghost Pokémon. All trainers who do not like raiding and prefer to be in the PvP League have the opportunity to earn some rewards there.
