Finally, there are Spotlight Hours again in Pokémon GO. MeinMMO shows you what to expect in the first hour after the long break.
What kind of event is this? The Spotlight Hour is a 60-minute event that takes place again after a long break. It will now take place on Thursdays. During the event, there is at least one Pokémon that appears in high numbers, as well as a bonus.
In the Spotlight Hour on June 18, 2026, you can expect Swinub, the Pokémon from Generation 2. It has the types Ice and Ground and can first evolve into Piloswine and then into Mamoswine.
Spotlight Hour on June 18, 2026 – Start and Bonuses
When does the Spotlight Hour start? As before, the Spotlight Hour starts at 6:00 PM. After exactly 60 minutes, at 7:00 PM, it will end again.
What bonus is active? If you send Pokémon to the Professor during the Spotlight Hour, you will receive double the amount of candy for this.
Can you catch Shiny Swinub? Yes. If you’re lucky, you can also catch the Shiny version of Swinub. However, the chance of getting a Shiny is not increased during the event.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it? Mamoswine is a very solid attacker and belongs to the strongest Pokémon in Pokémon GO both as an Ice and as a Ground attacker. If you don’t have better alternatives, you can take advantage of the Spotlight Hour to catch specimens with good IVs and a lot of candy.
In the battle leagues, however, you should avoid both Swinub and its evolutions. There are much better Pokémon available.
If your Pokémon box has filled up over time, then the event is the perfect opportunity to sort out and receive extra candy. If you tag the corresponding Pokémon, you can save a lot of time here.
Are you looking forward to the Spotlight Hour? Let us know in the comments. Many trainers have been frustrated by the cancellation of the Spotlight Hours. Therefore, the joy of the return of the event is even greater – also for MeinMMO author Paul Kutzner: Pokémon GO finally brings back the Spotlight Hours and I couldn’t be happier about it.
