Pokémon GO is distributing compensation for trainers affected by issues during an event. However, this compensation is not being well received in the community.
In Pokémon GO, there are events that encounter issues and cause problems for trainers from time to time. This was the case last Saturday during the Raid Day featuring Gigantamax Deoxys, when this happened.
For another event that took place in October 2025 in Pokémon GO, Niantic has now distributed compensation. However, this has not led to much joy in the community.
No Adequate Compensation
Which event is affected? The event for which trainers have now received compensation is the Raid Day featuring Mega Rayquaza, which took place on October 18, 2025.
What issues occurred during the event? According to several trainers on Reddit, there were various issues during the event. For one, the raids themselves were affected, preventing trainers from successfully completing them, and the raid passes used were lost at the same time.
Additionally, there was a free as well as a paid research during the event in which you could obtain a meteorite. This is needed to perform the Mega Evolution of Rayquaza. Trainers report that there were also issues with this. Some trainers apparently did not even receive the paid research.
What compensation is offered? On X, Niantic stated that the affected trainers have been compensated. Trainers are supposed to have received replacements for the raid passes used during the event where issues occurred.
In the Helpshift of Niantic, there is also a post about the compensation. Here it states:
Problem description: Server issues led to deteriorated gameplay during the Raid Day featuring Mega
Rayquaza, including lag, the inability to start or complete raids, as well as other problems.
Problem status: Resolved. Lost raid passes during the impacted period have been refunded to affected players. Please note:
- Used free raid passes have been refunded as premium battle passes.
- If your item bag has reached or exceeded the available inventory, raid passes have still been refunded.
- Due to legal restrictions, trainers logging in with child accounts via Niantic Kids or Pokémon Trainer Club are not eligible for a refund.
What is bothering the community? In the comments on Reddit, there are some angry comments regarding the compensation. Besides the frustration over the botched event itself, some trainers feel that the compensation is insufficient. Additionally, there are comments suggesting that not all used raid passes were compensated.
- “But what about the people who lost their meteorites because the research never appeared or disappeared before the end of the event? This didn’t happen to me, but it would be outrageous if they don’t make that right somehow,” writes technoxenoholic.
- “I got 2 remote raid passes back. I lost more than 2, but hey, that’s more than I expected,” comments real_Hank_Scorpio.
- “Also, I always think that replacing the raid passes is not the point. For example, you can’t redo the 6 Rayquaza raids,” says Knightforlife.
- “I received nothing, but almost 6 raids were messed up,” states the comment from quotejoss.
- “I guess they’re just ignoring the problems with the limited research,” notes tweak8.
While there have been occasional issues on raid days lately, there are many other types of events in Pokémon GO. These include raids and spotlight hours. You can learn about the events awaiting you this month in our overview with all events in November 2025 in Pokémon GO.
