In Pokémon GO today is the 2nd day of the Hoenn Tour and thus your last chance for the time being to encounter one or another strong specimen. We at MeinMMO will show you what things you absolutely must do today before the event ends.
What event is this about? Today, on February 26, 2023, the second event day of the big Hoenn Tour takes place in Pokémon GO . Just like during the event kickoff yesterday on Saturday, you can encounter many Pokémon again today.
However, there are some things you should definitely take care of before the event ends. What these 5 things are and what you should consider, we have summarized for you below.

1. Prepare for the Proto-Raids
One of the most interesting contents of the GO Tour are the new Proto-Raids with Kyogre and Groudon. Both were already available in the game on the first event day. However, the experience of many trainers shows that these are not so easy to accomplish. Therefore, you should prepare a bit for today’s raids:
Strong counters: If you want to face Proto-Kyogre and Proto-Groudon, you should definitely have the right counters with you. Make sure they have effective attacks against the two raid bosses and are levelled up to the maximum. If you want to change attacks, you can do so using Instant or Charged TMs.

Assemble teams: Before you go into the next Proto-Raid, you should put together strong teams against the two raid bosses. This is quite simple, by clicking on “Battle” in the menu and then swiping to the “Team” tab.
There you have the option to set a team using the button “Gyms & Raids”. Give it a name and add the desired monsters. In the next raid, you can easily use it by swiping to the side in the Pokémon preview of the raid lobby.
Arrange raids: The Proto-Raids are quite challenging, so you’ll need plenty of support from other trainers for the battles. Especially for Kyogre, you should plan for around 6 players. The more of you there are, the faster you’ll defeat the raid boss and can look forward to more Proto-Energy in addition to an encounter with the monster.
You need this to evolve into a Proto-Form. How much you get depends on how quickly the raid boss was defeated. If you’re quick, you’ll also get more energy. So it’s worth it to arrange with friends. In on-site raids, you also receive an additional XL Candy when catching from trainer level 31.
2. Play multiple raids
Proto-Raids: During the Hoenn Tour, you can encounter Proto-Kyogre and Proto-Groudon for the first time. Both will be available in the new Proto-Raids and are among the strongest attackers of their type. However, to perform a Protomorphosis yourself, you need a lot of Proto-Energy.
One raid is not enough, because you need 400 Proto-Energy per monster. Depending on how quickly you complete a raid, you can get up to 90 Proto-Energy as a reward – so it takes several battles to fill your supply.
However, the two legendary Pokémon will initially be exclusive to the Hoenn Tour. So if you want to secure your own Proto-Kyogre or Proto-Groudon, you should do so today before the event ends. Currently, it is unknown when they will next be available in the game.
By the way: To advance in the special research “Legendary Hunt”, you need to catch Groudon and Kyogre. The Hoenn Tour offers you the last chance for now.
Level-5-Raids: If you’ve had enough of Kyogre and Groudon, you can alternatively secure the legendary Pokémon Deoxys in the Level-5-Raids. This will be found in its various forms in the game. But for this, you also only have time until the end of the event.
3. Complete the collector challenge
In Pokémon GO, you have four different collector challenges during the Hoenn Tour that you should solve. You can find them in your Today’s view of the game. They revolve around the wild Pokémon from various habitats.
You could start with these tasks yesterday. If you haven’t finished them yet, you should definitely do so today, as the rewards will otherwise expire. Don’t forget to redeem these before the event ends. The following Pokémon you need to catch:

Just like yesterday, the habitats will again alternate hourly today, so you will have the opportunity to encounter these monsters twice each. Here we show you, when which habitat runs and what spawns it brings you.
4. Secure 10-km eggs
During the event, you can not only encounter altered spawns and cool raid bosses, but also special content in the eggs. The rare 10-km eggs are particularly worthwhile because in these you will find three of the 9 regional monsters from the Hoenn region:
- Qurtel
- Tropius
- Relicanth
These can usually only be found in other parts of the world and are thus only obtainable outside of certain events through extensive travel. Therefore, you should not miss this opportunity. Hatch eggs diligently and obtain event eggs from gyms and PokéStops.
You have unlimited time to hatch them after the event. With a bit of luck, you might even encounter the three monsters as shiny.
5. Take advantage of encounters with other legendary monsters
Apart from the legendary monsters in the raids, you can also encounter two specimens in the wild with some luck: Latias and Latios. Depending on whether you chose Team Sapphire or Team Ruby, one of the two psychic Pokémon will be displayed to you in the wild.
But beware! The two monsters are quite strong, as they are not so easy to catch. Often you only have one attempt. If this does not work, they flee. So best use Ultra Balls and golden Razz Berries to catch them and land fantastic curveball throws.
Don’t forget to take pictures of them either. Through the task “Latias/Latios Photo Safari” you can secure a guaranteed specimen.
