An activity in Diablo 4 is causing frustration in the community. It is hardly enjoyable, and success largely depends on luck. This was also noted by a player who thought the problem lay with him.
What activity is being referred to? It is about the Hell Rifts, an endgame activity in Diablo 4. There, you fight against waves of monsters, collect Ether, and exchange it for loot at the end. However, this takes quite a long time. Since the rewards depend heavily on chance, even with the right perks, we recommend other content in our ranking for the War Plans.
To collect Ether, you need to defeat a mass of monsters. Before each wave, you choose a gift that determines the course – such as Rain of Fire, Soul Towers, or certain enemy spawns. Some provide a lot of Ether, while others provide little. How much loot you end up with is primarily a matter of luck.
A player therefore asked on Reddit whether he was doing something wrong and received a clear answer.
“You might as well reroll the War Plan”
The user Speaker4theDead8 shows in his Reddit post that he ended up with just 160 Ether after one run. For him, it was a pure waste of time. Many other players agree with him.
What other players say about it: The general sentiment in the thread is overwhelmingly negative. The top comment from Rustmonger received around 1,450 upvotes. His explanation: The player is not doing anything wrong; the activity is simply terrible in every respect.
Other players also summarize their experiences as follows:
- It is the least popular activity for the War Plans for many.
- With good Chaos gifts, over 2,000 Ether can be obtained. However, it relies too much on luck.
- Some recommend playing the Hell Rifts as a group, for example through the Group Finder. More players bring more Ether in the end.
- Without 10 waves and a few Chaos portals, the activity quickly feels hopeless.
- Many only play the 6 waves for the War Plan, as they do not care about the loot. To get better loot, you have to run through 10 waves anyway.
- Either you clear the entire screen immediately, or you have a hell of a time.
- Some recommend rerolling the War Plan as soon as Hell Rifts are required.
What are your thoughts on the Hell Rifts? Do you go through the activity or do you also reroll your War Plans right away? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments.
Individual players also criticize that the boss Bartuc has a very specific loot pool. You must first complete the activity and collect enough Ether to even be allowed to face him. How much Ether you need for that and which items Bartuc drops, you can find out in our guide.
