Rockstar Games is giving away mugs, T-shirts, and a jacket
Why does the player receive the gift box? The YouTuber came into the focus of Rockstar Games because he amassed nearly 6,000 hours of playtime in Red Dead Redemption 2 on Google Stadia. The platform will be discontinued after today, January 18, 2023.
Now, the development studio has thanked him for this commitment and sent him a gift box filled with RDR2 merchandise like mugs, posters, T-shirts, and a jacket.
A photo with all the contents of the gift box was posted by the YouTuber on Twitter. We will embed the tweet here:
YouTuber was worried about his progress
This is how Rockstar Games noticed him: On September 30, the YouTuber publicly asked on Twitter whether Rockstar Games might allow the transfer of RDO accounts one-time. For this, he posted a screenshot of his nearly 5,900 play hours in RDR2 at that time.
The background of his frustration was clear: Colour had played RDR2 on Stadia, and Google announced a day earlier that the cloud gaming service Stadia is being terminated after 3 years. In addition to the tweet, the YouTuber also released a video on the topic, as he feared losing nearly 5,900 hours of RDO progress.
Subsequently, Colour’s story about the possible loss of his in-game progress went viral, and some news sites picked up the story. In October, Rockstar Games responded to the request and allowed Stadia players to transfer money, gold bars, XP, role XP, and tokens to an existing PC, Xbox One, or PS4 account.
The shutdown of Stadia caught many players off guard, who had invested many hours and money into the platform. This includes MeinMMO author Jürgen Horn, who documented his experience at the end of September:
I invested €1,000 and all my hopes in Google Stadia – Now everything is for nothing
