Restrictions by Socket Colors are Removed
The biggest and most surprising change is that the long-standing restrictions on socket colors are completely abolished. This allows you to:
- Put any gems in any sockets you want
- Combine gems and sockets cleverly, as fitting settings provide additional bonuses
- Overall, you have much more freedom in your builds
Rework of the Abyss
The Abyss has been extensively adjusted and now resembles that in Path of Exile 2 more:
- Chasms are now open from the start and their energy strengthens surrounding enemies
- By defeating them, you lure more hordes of monsters from the depths
- New sound and graphic effects provide much more intense battles
- The mechanics remain the only source in the game to obtain the coveted Abyss jewels and Styx bindings
- In line with the major rework, the Abyss talents in the Atlas tree have also been expanded and the corresponding scarabs adjusted
Adjustments to the Legion
The Legion mechanic is also getting a new look:
- The old system of incubators has been completely removed and replaced with exclusive, so-called “trace-like” unique items
- The update introduces “Enveloping Crystals” as new currency that you apply directly to your unique armors.
- If you place such a prepared armor in the realm of eternal war into a special crystal, a new trace-like item is created
- This takes on extremely strong values from other unique items and thus allows you completely new equipment combinations
Balancing Adjustments and New Skills for Existing Classes
Additionally, there will of course be some adjustments for the balance between classes as well as new skills:
- The Ascendancy classes Assassin, Inquisitor, and Occultist have been revised and equipped with new passive skills to specifically strengthen magic builds
- Items for wizards – especially staffs and selected unique items – have been noticeably improved. Additionally, there are now new ways to manage your mana more efficiently.
- A brand new Keystone skill and numerous other minor adjustments round off the extensive upgrade for wizards.
