With the 1.0 release, the creators want to bring more Pals to Palworld than in any previous update. Some of them have already been introduced, but the newest Pal, Solenne, is sparking controversial discussions about… pretty Pals?
This is the new Pal: Solenne visually resembles 2B from the NieR universe, a humanoid-looking Pal in a ballerina style, but completely in black and white and without color. The name sounds similar to the French word for solemn, “solennelle,” in Japanese her name simply stands for “black and white.”
The developers convey a cryptic message with Solenne: “Nothing is more beautiful… and intense… than the dead silence of a midsummer night. Solenne dances in quiet silence.” This instantly evokes a “Gothic” impression for many fans, which does not arrive positively for everyone.
Solenne will appear together with the 1.0 release on July 10, 2026.
Why is there discussion? Looking on Reddit, Solenne is generally well-received, but raises the question: Why are so many Pals potential waifus?
Fans see the danger of stigmatization, especially concerning the player base.
Solenne fuels discussions about “these” players
In several threads, players are now discussing Solenne. While many think the new Pal is a great addition to the game, others are disappointed to receive yet another pretty, female-coded companion:
“Nothing is wrong with female-coded, humanoid Pals, but at a certain point, this favors a, um, ‘special’ part of the player base”

Another user agrees: he takes the waifus but would like more – unspeakable horrors, for example. Under another discussion about Solenne, a user critically states that at this point Palworld is no longer a monster-capturing game. The desire for “creepy” Pals is clearly audible.
