The gamescom 2024 is coming, and one game that MMORPG fans will pay special attention to, even though it doesn’t want to be an MMORPG at all, is Crimson Desert. It describes itself as an “open-world action adventure,” but it is the unofficial successor to Black Desert, and the company behind it, Pearl Abyss, is currently a major rising star in the MMORPG market. The game’s release is planned for PC, PS5, and Xbox.
Here’s what we will be able to play at gamescom 2024: Pearl Abyss has announced that it will be possible to play their new game Crimson Desert in a demo version at gamescom:
This year’s Crimson Desert demo showcases intense action combat mechanics featuring Kliff as the player character. The demo starts on a wild battlefield with the Greymane mercenaries, allowing players to familiarize themselves with the basics of attacking, blocking, dodging, and special abilities while facing hordes of enemies. Seamless cutscenes between fights provide insight into the story of Kliff and his fellow mercenaries.
The demo is expected to be playable in Cologne in Hall 6 between August 21 and August 25, 2024.
The demo is supposed to last half an hour – in addition to the demo, Pearl Abyss will also show an hour of gameplay footage for Crimson Desert. Another demo is set to be released in November, according to the transcript of a Pearl Abyss earning call (via reddit).

The Mysterious Crimson Desert and What We Know So Far
What kind of game is this? Crimson Desert is Pearl Abyss’s “next-gen flagship,” aimed at establishing a new engine.
A release is planned for the second quarter of 2025, with simultaneous launches for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
Crimson Desert was originally intended as a prequel to Black Desert, but the focus shifted more towards a single-player direction. Players will control Macduff, a mercenary leading his group. It could be that Pearl Abyss has renamed Macduff to “Kiff”. The name first appears in the demo description.
What we know so far about the game sounds like Red Dead Redemption 2: One will likely play a single-player campaign and lead the fates of a group of mercenaries. The endgame may then pivot towards something MMO-like akin to Red Dead Online or GTA Online.
But none of this is fully confirmed – Pearl Abyss has been silent on Crimson Desert for a long time. Hopefully, we’ll learn more at gamescom.
What does Pearl Abyss say about Crimson Desert? Pearl Abyss held an earnings call a few days ago, and information was shared via reddit:
Crimson Desert is in the final stages of development
In the second half of 2024, Pearl Abyss plans to start its marketing push. Advertising for Crimson Desert will begin with gamescom – a release is also expected to be announced soon.
They aim to carry out their release as early as possible and launch simultaneously on PC and consoles.
Why is this important? Pearl Abyss is the big winner among MMORPG companies over the past decade. They have done a lot right with Black Desert, taking the lead in the market by releasing their MMORPG on consoles. Typically, South Korean MMORPGs are only released for PC and Mobile.
With their funds, Pearl Abyss has also acquired MMORPG veterans from EVE Online.
Pearl Abyss is regarded as a company that develops MMORPGs sustainably and innovatively, focusing on technological advancements – plus they have a lot of money.
If significant advancements in the “MMO” and “MMORPGs” genres are expected in the coming years, Pearl Abyss is a strong candidate for that. On Steam, a years-old Call of Duty is currently experiencing a second spring and is among the top sellers on the platform. But what’s behind it?
What’s behind the sudden success? On Steam, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered (2017) is currently one of the best-selling games. In the platform’s top seller list, the shooter is currently ranked 7th – even ahead of the upcoming Black Ops 6 (as of August 13, 2024, 11:30 AM via Steam).
This sudden success is thanks to a free mod called “H2M” that is set to be released on August 16. The mod aims to recreate the multiplayer experience of CoD MW2 (2009).
In order to play the “H2M” mod, you must own Modern Warfare Remastered (MWR) on Steam, as the mod is based on the shooter. MW Remastered originally released in 2016 in a bundle with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare but was then released as a standalone version in 2017.
The next CoD, Black Ops 6, will be released in October. Here is the trailer:

Trailer for CoD Black Ops 6 provides insight into the campaign
“H2M” aims to bring back to CoD fans exactly the feeling, exactly the multiplayer experience they loved about MW2. To achieve this, the developers of the mod have come up with a few special features:
You can play all maps from Modern Warfare Remastered (that you own) as well as all maps from the original MW2 multiplayer. There should be over 50 maps available at launch.
There are weapons, attachments, perks, and killstreaks from MW2.
There are 10 prestige levels with 70 ranks each. Once players reach prestige level 10, they can play up to level 1,000.
There are classic camos from MW2 that can be earned, as well as new skins. The same applies to the emblems.
Some of the new camos are reportedly specially animated, according to the developers.
Here is the mod’s website, where you can also find the download:
So should you buy MW Remastered now? No, probably not. Even if the mod sounds really interesting and could have some active players, it is an unofficial modification of a CoD. There is a strong chance that Activision will shut down the mod, as the developers of the mod did not purchase a license for the used content.
Other players who are interested in the mod also express concerns for this reason:
“Activision is holding back at the moment to secure the MWR sales on Steam, only to take down the mod again after its release.” (via X.com)
“Don’t buy MWR on Steam for the ‘MW2 Remastered’ mod. The mod will surely be taken down.” (via Reddit)
In the past, Activision has taken action against similar projects and had them removed. So if you buy MWR now because you want to play the mod, you should be aware of the risk that the mod may only be playable for a few days or weeks. After all, MWR is currently on sale on Steam and available for just under 20 euros.
In Helldivers 2 you currently only fight against robots and bugs, while the new enemies are already in the game. A leak now shows how they look.
What are the players waiting for? For new enemies. Since the cooperative shooter was released in February 2024, the brave Helldivers have exclusively been fighting against bugs and robots. There have been multiple hints that we might get a new enemy faction with the Illuminated in the game.
The Illuminated are an alien civilization that also appeared in Helldivers 1 and fought against the Over-Earth.
Players have been waiting for the Illuminated for months. Not only because they have already seen blue lasers. Also, because they are losing fun fighting against robots and bugs. In July, for example, one player wrote on Reddit: “I plan to return when new factions come. I am tired of defending the same planets and fighting the same two factions.”

What kind of leak is this? A user on Reddit shared a screenshot showing an Illuminated. The leaker is a so-called data miner. He accesses the data already in the game and shares the information obtained from it.

According to the leaker, the shown Illuminated is a “Tripod”. They also existed in Helldivers 1. Tripods are three-legged machines that attacked at close range using electricity in Helldivers 1 and had medium armor. They also operated in groups of 3 to 5.
How reliable is the leak? A leak is not official information, the accuracy of which has been confirmed. While the Helldivers leaker has already proven to be accurate in the past months, you should not view the information as confirmed fact.
When the new MMORPG Legend of Ymir is set to release for the international market has not been officially announced yet. However, the developer’s financial report suggests a release in 2025.
What kind of game is it? Legend of Ymir is an upcoming MMORPG from the South Korean developer studio WeMade for PC and Mobile. The game is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and is expected to offer huge PvP battles, but much more is not known at this time.
The game’s setting draws on Norse mythology and the world of gods, with the developers promising “a new legend from the land of Odin.” Looking at the latest gameplay trailer, this inspiration is unmistakable:

Divided Launch of Legend of Ymir
When is the game released? Originally, a release was planned for 2024, but now it seems that at least the international release will be delayed by a year.
In a financial report from the developers, Legend of Ymir appears twice in the list of upcoming games: once as a release in 2024 and a second time with the addition “Global” for the year 2025.
Most likely, the game will first be released only in South Korea, but still in 2024. It is expected to be playable in Europe and the rest of the world by 2025. However, the developers do not provide a more precise timeframe in the report.
The most famous opponent of Batman is the Joker. His most iconic portrayal is by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. His Joker had the perfect design for a serious presentation of the villain. His constant lip licking is the character’s trademark. Did you know that this was not originally planned?
Why does the Joker lick his lips so often? From the first scenes with the Joker, we see two trademarks that he repeats frequently. He slicks back his hair and constantly licks his scarred lips. This fits the character perfectly, but it was not originally planned.
In the documentary I am Heath Ledger (via Digital Spy), it is explained that the prosthetics on Ledger’s face, i.e., the scars, kept coming loose. To prevent this, Ledger constantly licked his lips. This was meant to keep the prosthetics moist, making them harder to break. However, it suited the character so well that it was included in the film.
Before Heath Ledger, there were of course other Jokers. The first actor allowed to embody the clown was Cesar Romero in the 1960s series Batman. In the series, Adam West portrayed Batman, and it was more of a children’s series that relied on silly slapstick and comedy elements.
Cesar Romero also wore makeup and dyed hair. However, one thing was too important to him. The actor did not want to shave off his mustache. Accordingly, they simply painted the white face color over his mustache, which could still be clearly seen. Here you can see a picture of the role:
Cesar Romero as the Joker in Batman from 1966
In The Dark Knight there is even a reference to the old Batman series. The mask that the Joker wears in the first scene in The Dark Knight looks exactly like a mask that Cesar Romero wore in an episode of the Batman series.
The interesting thing about the Joker is that every actor gives the character their own flair. Mark Hamill is often overlooked, although he has voiced the clown in countless animated films and series. Of course, for many, Heath Ledger remains the true Joker. The Nolan trilogy is considered by many viewers to be the best depiction of Batman. But did you know that there is a secret fourth film?

Bungie shows the future of Destiny 2 after The Final Shape in the new trailer
Maintenance on 13.08. – All times for the server down
These times are important today: Bungie informs its players via x.com (formerly Twitter) about the exact downtime. It is planned that the servers will be unreachable today for 3 hours and 15 minutes.
This is what the maintenance schedule looks like:
At 15:00, background maintenance starts on all platforms.
At about 15:45, the servers go offline. Players will be automatically kicked from the game.
At 19:00, the shooter is expected to be back online and you can log back in.
The maintenance will continue in the background until 21:00.
This is to be considered during downtimes: As long as the background maintenance is running, there may be connection issues in the game. Additionally, queues may form during login because Bungie only gradually opens access to the servers to avoid issues from too high server load. Therefore, you might have to wait longer until you are back in the game.
The following issues are known: There are also many problems in The Final Shape that players are complaining about. Bungie is aware of some of them, but it is not known which ones will be fixed (via bungie.net). However, the following bugs could be addressed:
For PC players with 3D audio enabled, the audio output in the game does not work.
When crafting class-specific exotic glaives, the error code “Weasel” appears.
When playing on PlayStation with 3D audio enabled, the audio output does not work.
The slam attack with consecration no longer shatters Stasis crystals.
Heatwave is not activated when gliding or mid-jump.
The diamond lance no longer shatters Stasis crystals.
The wish bearer title was removed from players who had previously obtained it.
What is in the patch notes? A complete overview of all fixed issues and improvements will only be available later today or this afternoon after the update goes live.
We will update our article and provide you with the link to the patch notes. It is possible that the patch notes may change afterwards or be corrected by Bungie.
Those who want to fight like a Japanese samurai in Monster Hunter Wilds should best choose the long sword.
What game is this about? With Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest installment of the popular action RPG series is set to be released in 2025 for PC on Steam, as well as for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, the developers at Capcom have already started introducing the different weapon types.
Here you can watch the trailer for the long sword:
Start video
Monster Hunter Wilds: Capcom shows the Longsword in action
What can the long sword do? With the long sword, you can execute both slashing and stabbing attacks in quick succession. Thanks to the long blade, you also have a significant range for a close-combat weapon. With each successful hit, your Spirit Gauge fills up, which – when full – increases the damage of certain attacks and can be spent on special combos.
However, if you are hunting in a group, you should be careful not to annoy your teammates. Since the slashes of the long sword cover a large area, it was easy in the predecessor title Monster Hunter: World to hit nearby hunters and interrupt their current action.
The long sword is one of the most popular weapon types in many parts of the series. A more detailed overview of all the weapon types you can expect in Monster Hunter Wilds – what they are, how they will play, and all associated trailers – can be found in this article: All 14 weapon types from Monster Hunter Wilds at a glance

The Lord of the Rings has countless fans to this day, who still engage in mysteries and discussions decades later. A rather trivial sentence from The Two Towers is still being discussed 22 years later. Elijah Wood has now also commented on it.
Which sentence is it? Between 2001 and 2003, the Lord of the Rings trilogy was released and was a huge success. To this day, J. R. R. Tolkien’s world is entrenched in pop culture. The series received prequels in the form of the Hobbit films and the series The Rings of Power.
Fans still discuss many mysteries and questions of Middle-earth today. An inconspicuous sentence in The Two Towers still serves as the basis for many fan discussions. The leader of the Uruk-hai says in English: Looks like Meats back on the Menu boys. In German, it translates roughly to: Looks like we have meat back on the menu. Since then, fans have been debating whether there are actually restaurants in Middle-earth.
You can see the trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers here:

German trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
22 years later, the bizarre question is still relevant to many
What does Elijah Wood say about this discussion? Since then, fans want to know if there are restaurants in Middle-earth, because if the Uruk-hai know the word Menu, then there must be restaurants. This topic is more of a meme than a real discussion, yet it still seems to be relevant even 22 years after the release.
As Popverse reports, Elijah Wood, the actor who played Frodo, was asked at this year’s Comic Con in Liverpool what the sentence is really about. Are there restaurants in Middle-earth? Elijah Wood gives a rather unsatisfactory answer. He compares it to a line from the Star Wars sequels, where a phone is mentioned.
That’s a thing that happens in modern writing for old times. It happens quite often. In Star Wars: The Last Jedi, there’s a point where he’s talking to General Hux and says, “Waiting for General Hux,” as if it were a damn phone call. Sorry, let me put you through. …. What are you talking about?
He says that logic in this case has to give way to the freedom of writing. He calls it a funny joke and that it indeed grabs attention. This probably makes sense to most people, but for the die-hard fans, the question of restaurants in Middle-earth is still not resolved.
What do other actors say? Other actors have also been confronted with the question. As GameSpot reported in 2021, Nathaniel Lees, who played the Uruk-hai Ugluk, also responded to the question.
The word Menu should only refer to the available food options in that context. Jeb Brophy, another Uruk-hai actor, also responded to the question, explaining that one can assume that Hobbits know the word from their banquets. The same would be true for humans, who are one of the origins of the Uruk-hai. The Uruk-hai also wear special armor that was supposedly so hard that Aragorn got injured: Several people were injured on the set of The Lord of the Rings, but one actor even had to go to the hospital

Game of Thrones has been a TV phenomenon and is still considered one of the best series of all time. At least until the end, which many viewers found disappointing. One of the main actors, Kit Harington, is also not satisfied with the finale.
Why was the ending of Game of Thrones not satisfactory?Game of Thrones is based on the books A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. The problem with Game of Thrones starting from season 6 was that there was nothing left to adapt.
Although liberties had been taken previously to deviate from the events in the books, from season 6 onward, the show’s writers had to find an ending on their own. Season 6 was still popular, but seasons 7 and 8 were not. The series’ finale left many fans dissatisfied, a fact Kit Harington acknowledges in an interview.

We were all so damn tired
What does Harington say about season 8? In an interview with GQ Magazine, Kit Harington also talked about season 8 of Game of Thrones. He explains that it simply had to end because no one had the energy anymore. He does, however, understand the opinion that the ending came too quickly. He is unsure if there could have been an alternative.
I think if there was a mistake at the end of Thrones, it was that we were all so damn tired that we couldn’t go on any longer. […] When I look at pictures of myself from the last season, I look exhausted. I look exhausted. I had no more season left in me.
Kit Harington on the final season of Game of Thrones (Source: GQ Magazine)
When asked about the last episode, he says that everyone would have their own opinion. He believes that there were probably mistakes made story-wise towards the end. He thinks there were interesting decisions that didn’t work out correctly.
What about his own spin-off? He is also asked about the spin-off for Jon Snow in the interview. The plans for the series have since been put on hold. Harington does not want to give details but mentions that he initially had no desire for the spin-off. However, he found the idea of a soldier after the war interesting.
According to him, the story was worked on for years, but nothing of it was supposed to be exciting, which is why work on the story has been paused for now.
Harington also shares how important Game of Thrones has been for his life. He believes it could be the biggest and most important work he has ever been involved in. He met his wife and lifelong friends on set. However, Harington also tries to distance himself from the show so that people see more than just Jon Snow. Personally, he also needs a break from Westeros: The actor who played Jon in Game of Thrones does not believe he will ever watch House of the Dragon

In Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree there is a major quest involving the mutilated Igon, the priestess of the Dragon Communion, and the terrible Bayle, the dragon. We will show you how to complete the quest to transform yourself into a dragon.
Update, August 14, 2024: The article has been reviewed and is up to date.
Where can I find Igon? To start Igon’s quest, you first need to find him. Head to his first meeting point from the Site of Grace “Front of the Castle” and follow the path southeast until you reach the Site of Grace “Waypoint at the Pillar Corridor”.
Follow the path we’ve marked for you
Once there, you will see a man without legs screaming in pain on the path southwest. That is Igon. Talk to him to start his quest. We will show you step by step everything you need to do to fight against Bayle with Igon, so in the end, you will be richly rewarded.
With our directory, you can jump to the individual steps of the quest. Note that the quest requires another NPC besides Igon. We will list them in the guide.
[toc]
Defeat the Intruder “Ancient Dragon Man”
After enduring Igon’s screams, you need to follow the path southwest until the intruder “Ancient Dragon Man” confronts you. You will know you are on the right path when you see the headless statues of ancient dragons by the roadside. Once the Dragon Man has confronted you, you just need to deal with him.
Complete the cave “Dragon Pit”
Next, after defeating the intruder, you need to continue following the path until you reach the cave “Dragon Pit”. Fight your way through and defeat the boss of the dungeon. After the “Ancient Dragon Man” is defeated again, you can open the door that the boss was guarding.
A great door awaits to be opened
Follow the path through the countless dragon statues until you find the Site of Grace “Dragon Pit, Final Station”. Now you need to meet a new NPC.
Find the Altar of Dragon Communion & Dragon Priestess
From the Site of Grace “Dragon Pit, Final Station”, move east until you find the small lake guarded by a dragon. Defeat the dragon. From the lake, turn south and follow the path until you discover a giant dragon carcass and can rest at the Site of Grace “Great Altar of Dragon Communion”.
At the lake, take the right path toward the dragon carcass
Stand up from the Site of Grace and talk to the Dragon Priestess who is next to the Altar of Dragon Communion. She will offer you to consume the Dragon Essence, which you should accept. Once you have done that, you will receive the “Blessing of the Ancient Dragon”, a powerful buff that you should use in the fight against Bayle.
If you continue talking to her after the ceremony, she will reveal details about Bayle and Igon that may prove useful. Once you finish the conversation, you need to go dragon hunting again.
Defeat both dragons at the foot of Blade Peak
Teleport to the Site of Grace “Dragon Pit, Final Station” after the conversation with the Dragon Priestess. Once there, ride to the lake and then take the path north that brings you closer to Blade Peak. You will know you are on the right path when you have ridden through a stone monument that looks like a tailbone. Here is the map again for illustration.
At the same lake, go left up the mountain
Continue following the path up until you reach the Site of Grace “Foot of Blade Peak”. Ride further up until you see two dragons fighting. Defeat both dragons and rest again at a Site of Grace. Now you need to find Igon again.
Find Igon & receive his crooked finger
To find Igon again, you need to return to where the two dragons fought. Follow the path further inside Blade Peak until you find Igon again on the ground. He will want to speak with you. Talk to him until he hands you his crooked finger and asks you to summon him when you face Bayle.
Without his finger, you cannot summon Igon
Defeat the boss “Ancient Dragon Senessax”
After chatting with Igon, you need to continue your journey further into Blade Peak. Mount your faithful steed and use the ghostly jump zones to gain more height. Once you have climbed high enough, you will discover the ancient dragon Senessax again in a massive lake. You must defeat him.
To defeat him comfortably, you should attack from a distance. The lake increases the range of his attacks, so it is advisable to take down the dragon with magic. We have, of course, a strong build for your easy mode. Also, use strong spirit ashes like the ash of Dragon Knight Kristoff to distract the dragon. Once you have defeated him, you will receive an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone and an Ancient Dragon Dark Smithing Stone.
Defeat the dragon “Bayle, the Terrible”
Once you are done with Senessax, you need to continue climbing the mountain until you discover the mist wall to Bayle. Note that Bayle is one of the hardest bosses in the DLC. Even though he attacks without wings and with only one leg, he is quite agile, and his lightning attacks have a large range.
Weapons like the Dragon Hunter Greatsword or magic can deal good damage to Bayle. To summon Igon in the fight, you need to remain in the arena. So enter the mist wall and walk towards Bayle until you see the golden writing on the ground. He will assist you in battle. You can also summon another spirit ash that can also attack Bayle.
After defeating Bayle, you will receive Bayle’s Heart. With this, you can acquire two invocations at the Altar of Dragon Communion.
Bayle’s Flame BlitzBayle’s Tyranny
These include:
Bayle’s Tyranny (requires 49 arcane energy)
Bayle’s Flame Blitz (requires 53 arcane energy)
Visit Igon & the Dragon Priestess
Once you have defeated Bayle, you can now visit Igon at the place where he handed you his finger. He can now rest and leaves you his entire armor along with his sound pearl and bow.
After obtaining the items, you can visit the Dragon Priestess. She will be gone, but at the spot where she stood, you will receive the Flowerstone Hammer and the item Priestess Heart. With this heart, you can now transform into the first form of a dragon. Once transformed, your invocations of the Dragon Cult will be increased.
This was the quest of Igon, the Dragon Priestess, and Bayle, the Terrible. There are many quests you can take on in the new DLC of Elden Ring. Many of them we have already listed for you in our guide overview. So if you are looking for more, you should take a look there: Elden Ring: All guides, beginner tips, and builds at a glance

There have been several controversies surrounding the influencer AnniTheDuck in recent months. Following a video from Twitch streamer Mowky, AnniTheDuck is now responding with her own accusations against her.
What kind of video did AnniTheDuck upload? “That’s enough,” is the title of the latest video on YouTube from Twitch streamer AnniTheDuck. It is a direct response to the “For my peace” video from her former friend Mowky.
In the new video, AnniTheDuck addresses some of the accusations from Mowky and provides her own chat logs to support her statements.
It all began with the statements of RevedTV about AnniTheDuck:
Start video
Reved explains on Twitch how much she suffered in the relationship with Anni The Duck
AnniTheDuck reignites the discussion about the allegations
What does AnniTheDuck say in her new video? The Twitch streamer begins the video by asking that private matters concerning her no longer be brought into the public. She feels compelled to make this video because, according to her, Mowky is clearly lying in her video and she can prove it.
Additionally, Anni once again apologizes for her behavior. She now understands that her actions may have had a different intention but were perceived differently by the other person. She continues to promise improvement.
Which allegations does Anni deny? Mowky claims in her statement video that Anni is conducting a smear campaign behind her back. According to Mowky, Anni has claimed behind her back that she has a mental illness and that she is not taking the necessary pills for it.
However, Anni stated that others also know that Mowky has not been taking her pills. Furthermore, there was an outburst from Mowky, which made Anni feel “triggered,” leading her to want to distance herself from Mowky with a message. She did not ghost her as Mowky described, but simply maintained her distance.
She has not conducted a smear campaign against Mowky but has merely discussed these topics within her close friend circle because they were occupying her mind.
Anni has offered more than once to have a clarifying conversation with Mowky, even with a therapist as a mediator. Furthermore, Anni says that it sounds much more like Mowky is trying to conduct a smear campaign against her:
Mowky contacted mutual friends and told them she would have to end the friendship if the friends continued to have contact with Anni.
Additionally, Mowky warned influencers who had just moved to Madeira about Anni, giving Anni the impression that none of the new island residents wanted to have anything to do with her because of the rumors about her.
Many of Mowky’s allegations can be refuted by Anni by publishing the chat logs, some of which were blacked out by Mowky, in their entirety: The context makes it clear that the text threads meant to show how cold Anni acted towards Mowky are edited:
Particularly irritated Anni was the insinuation that she hosted some kind of sex party or orgy. It was a completely normal party where everyone kept their clothes on. Such rumors do not sit well with her Muslim family at all.
What professional consequences must Anni endure? In conclusion, Anni addressed what professional consequences she has to bear from all the allegations. She has lost all her cooperation partners, her community is poisoned, and her successful Twitch format “Beauty & the Nerd” has been stripped from her.
Additionally, a AnniTheDuck Bubble Tea and a music album were supposed to be released in the summer. Both projects are now not taking place. Anni was terminated without notice by her management. As a result, her employees have lost their jobs. Currently, she must take out a loan to pay her ongoing expenses.
She has been rejected by three different managements – no one wants to have anything to do with her anymore. Anni also laments that now a lot of negative headlines appear when one googles her name. This reporting and damage to her reputation will probably never leave her.
At the same time, Anni criticized the wording of Mowky. It is far too exaggerated and leaves too much room for interpretation.
What does Anni not address? On some matters, Anni does not comment in her new statement on YouTube. She says it’s much too private to continue talking about the allegations of abuse she has against Mowky.
However, she emphasizes that she perceived Mowky’s behavior towards a person who knows her well as sexually abusive.
The CEO of Gearbox, Randy Pitchford (53), is a very unique type. Currently, he is struggling with the poor reviews for the new Borderlands movie, which is flopping at the box office and with critics. But Pitchford seems not to want to acknowledge that. Half of the people like the movie. Even the Beatles had only a 25% rate for hits.
This is the criticism of the new Borderlands movie:
On Metacritic, the movie has a score of 27 out of 100%. The user reviews are similarly weak at 2.7.
The movie is disappointing in every respect – it has no connection to the Borderlands game series, nor is it funny or exciting. It doesn’t even look particularly good.

English trailer for the video game adaptation Borderlands
CEO feels incredibly flattered by the criticism
Who sees it differently? The CEO of Gearbox, Randy Pitchford, isn’t taking this lying down. He’s trying to put a positive spin on it:
“So what you’re telling me is: You like what me and my friends did with the Borderlands games even more than what the greatest and best cast and crew on the planet have done: I’m super flattered. We’re working extra hard on what’s coming next.”
Pitchford believes Tassi is “super-obsessed” with him and what his company does. Tassi makes a living by “spreading bullshit” and pretends to know Pitchford personally. Pitchford does not like that at all.
However, he currently doesn’t feel like ruining Tassi. So he leaves it at that.

Elden Ring has gained numerous new bosses with the DLC. One stands out particularly and can boast details that make the fight against him even better.
Which boss is it? Those who have fought him might get goosebumps at his name and freeze in awe: Bayle.
The dragon that awaits you in the DLC Shadow of the Erdtree is undoubtedly one of the toughest boss opponents in the game. But aside from the gaming challenge he presents, he also brings with him an exciting backstory. A YouTuber has now highlighted several details that show that Bayle is a boss for the history books.
If you want to defeat Bayle and solve Igon’s quest, we have a guide for you on MeinMMO – or right here as a video:

Start the Igon Quest in Elden Ring, defeat Bayle and become a dragon – Here’s how to do it
Bayle was not always victorious
What details are we talking about? The YouTube channel Zullie The Witch deals with various aspects of Elden Ring, but especially with the lore. In a new video, it focuses on Bayle and his story.
In it, the YouTuber first goes into the past of the fearsome dragon. Back then, he fought against Placidusax, which players can find in the main game in the area of Farum Azula. Bayle turned against the ancient dragon, who, unlike him, has four feet – but Bayle only has two.
This was probably due to the evolutionary development that divided the dragons into two factions. Bayle could not win the fight against Placidusax. They wounded each other and Bayle fled, severely injured. His injury has not fully healed to this day, which is why the dragon has to support himself on his tail during the fight against the player.
His wings have also been severely massacred and are only a shadow of their former selves. What they would have looked like becomes clear when Bayle summons wings during the fight to attack you with them. He also fights with his mutilated limbs and uses the protruding bones to attack.
Here you can see the entire video:

The YouTuber also highlights that there are two of Placidusax’s heads lying in Bayle’s arena – which shows that even the ancient dragon from Farum Azula did not come through the confrontation unscathed.
Another detail Bayle shares with his probably most hated enemy: Igon.
Who is Igon? This NPC encounters you on your adventure. He wants you to defeat the dragon. Igon has already faced him once and lost the fight. Similar to the fearsome dragon, Igon is missing his left leg – this becomes clear when you take a closer look at Igon’s character model.
Igon also seems to be, as the YouTuber suggests, a reference to the obsessed Captain Ahab from the novel Moby Dick – with Bayle taking on the role of the whale. Ahab wants to kill Moby Dick at any cost because he has wounded him. This shows that FromSoftware was particularly thorough in incorporating numerous small details and making the fight something special. By the way, Igon is a fan favorite and his voice actor is celebrated online.

With Worshippers of Cthulhu, a city-building game is set to be released on Steam this year, where you are supposed to lead a Cthulhu cult and perform dark rituals. A demo is already available, and the first reviews have been almost exclusively positive.
What kind of game is Worshippers of Cthulhu? The city-building game from Crazy Goat Games makes you the leader of a Cthulhu cult. Your goal: You are to summon the ancient god himself. To do this, you must gather followers and create a city from scratch.
Feed your followers, monitor production chains, and organize the workforce. To achieve this, you will proclaim dogmas, host festivals, and perform dark rituals. All unbelievers serve as potential sacrifices and slaves.
The trailer gives you an initial impression of Worshippers of Cthulhu:

Worshippers of Cthulhu allows you to establish a dark cult
Try it now on Steam
What else is known? The final release of Worshippers of Cthulhu is scheduled for sometime in 2024. You can already download and install the demo on Steam. It currently has 103 user reviews, with 90 percent of the ratings being positive – resulting in a “Very Positive” rating on Steam.
T.TV/ScaveBoy writes on Steam: “Based on what I’ve seen from the demo, I am excited. There are very few Lovecraft games where you can control the entire cult.”
Mafestic Twelve praises on Steam: “The demo was fun. Assuming they stick to the theme and continue on the path they’ve begun while making it a bit more robust, it could easily become one of my top city-building simulations. Think of Tropico, but mythical.”
However, there is also criticism. Yoda complains on Steam: “The game is heavily inspired by Anno/Tropico and essentially plays like a mod for it. There are a few potentially interesting gimmicks, but overall, even vanilla Anno (without DLCs) feels significantly superior.”
Yoda goes further in his post and specifically criticizes the low-poly models and poor textures, the underdeveloped UI, and the relatively simple gameplay compared to the mentioned predecessors. However, the resulting low entry barrier is praised by other players of the demo.
The Anno comparison is also found in many other reviews. Authors often express their delight over the unusual mix of Anno city-building and the cosmic horror vibes of the Cthulhu setting inspired by H. P. Lovecraft. It has been several months since the series premiered on Amazon for Fallout. Keen-eyed fans quickly discovered a hidden Easter egg that was very well-hidden. Now it turns out: It probably shouldn’t exist at all.
It is therefore logical that the TV series would take advantage of this and incorporate numerous references to the games. However, director Jonathan Nolan gave his crew a directive: The series should closely adhere to the source material and faithfully depict the wasteland with all its details. But he didn’t want elements to be copied directly.
Not everyone on the team adhered to this. The department responsible for makeup and costumes reportedly disregarded this rule and incorporated an Easter egg that went unnoticed for a long time.

The official trailer for the Fallout series on Amazon in German
Rules are made to be broken
Which Easter egg is it? Michael Harvey, the head of the makeup crew for the series, told in a conversation with PC Gamer that the initially set rule was not always followed.
During filming, he and costume designer Amy Wescott had the opportunity to incorporate a character from the games – but they wanted it to go unnoticed. Thus, the weapons dealer Cricket from Fallout 4 found her way into the series.
However, under a different name; she is called Rink there. Visually, there are clear parallels that cannot be denied. Both characters even share a scar above the eye. Rink appears in episode 5 for only a few seconds.
The Easter egg seemed so well hidden that no one would ever find it. Not even Nolan, who was initially against such direct references, but did not recognize the allusion until the very end. However, Michael Harvey and Amy Wescott miscalculated the devotion of the hardcore fans of the video game original.
How was the Easter egg found? As so often, the secret was discovered by fans on Reddit. They shared comparative screenshots and agreed that the series clearly drew inspiration from the game. However, the fact that the two characters have different names was confusing and suggested that they are not the same character.
The fact that the similarity is not a coincidence, but rather intended by the creative minds behind the series, is confirmed by reports from Michael Harvey. His hopes that the Easter egg would remain hidden for a long time were dashed by the eagle-eyed loyal fans. Are you looking for more series similar to Fallout? With the Ultima series, Richard “Lord British” Garriott once earned pioneer status. Ultima Online holds a particularly significant place for the creator of the MMORPG term. Will there be a shared happy ending after the separation someday? Garriott remains optimistic.
Richard Garriott, who was that again?
The Brit programmed one of the first commercial computer role-playing games, Akalabeth, at the age of 19.
In 1981, Ultima I followed, marking the launch of one of the most important and influential series in video game history.
In 1983, Garriott co-founded Origin Systems, one of the most successful developers and publishers of the 1980s and 1990s.
Specifically, Ultima IV to VII are still considered genre classics today.
Just a few years later, disputes with the management of Electronic Arts, which had acquired Origin in 1992, led to Garriott’s departure. The Ultima rights remained with EA.
The venerable Ultima Online is getting legacy servers – here is the trailer:

Ultima Online: Trailer introduces new legacy server of the cult MMORPG
What is the status of Ultima Online? The isometric MMORPG of the Ultima series also looks back on a turbulent past. Since the launch, countless content expansions and updates have landed on the live servers; there has also been a major overhaul and various development teams have been allowed to try their hand at the online adventure.
Since 2014, Ultima Online has been in the hands of Broadsword, which continues to provide the MMORPG classic with updates very regularly. However, the last major expansion was released back in 2015. New legacy servers are announced for September 2024, which are meant to offer more than just a nostalgic gaming experience.
What does Lord British know that we don’t?
The situation seems clear. The Broadsword team manages Ultima Online while Electronic Arts has buried the Ultima rights deep in its own basement, never to make anything new with them again. Or?
Well, Richard Garriott seems to be expecting a change from the status quo. A fan wrote to the developer veteran on X: “We should do crowdfunding so you can buy UO back from EA and bring it back to its former glory, so we can finally have the best MMO ever made again.”
Richard Garriott’s succinct response (via X): “I believe I will get it back ‘soon’.” In response to a query, the developer added on X: “I have a reason to be honestly hopeful.” He probably cannot reveal details at this time.
In another post, another X user stated that Richard is not the right man for the job. Lord British replied (via X) that he is sorry that people think that way of him. After all, they are his original works.
A reunion of Richard Garriott and Ultima Online – would that be something you would like to experience? Or should the 63-year-old pioneer of the MMORPG genre retire? By the way, it has been an open secret for some time that Garriott wants to return to the Ultima series: “Now we just have to buy EA” – MMORPG legend ponders a sequel to his masterpiece

The release of EA FC 25 is getting closer, and EA Sports has already presented the new Hero cards for Ultimate Team. Here you can see an overview of which Heroes will be in FC 25.
What are Hero cards in Ultimate Team? The FUT Heroes introduced in FIFA 22 are special cards that are very similar to the well-known “Icons”: They receive strong cards for performances from past days, making them fan favorites.
The special thing about these cards is that, unlike Icon cards, they are assigned to a specific league. A FUT Hero from the Bundesliga then receives a chemistry point for players from that league. In addition, there is the usual chemistry bonus for players of the same nationality.

Which cards have been presented now? On X, EA has now presented all new Hero cards for EA FC 25. In total, there will be 14 Heroes at launch, of which 13 are completely new. Only Yaya Touré’s Hero card from the predecessor is included again.
This time, the special thing is: The new Hero cards will first appear in the new Origin variant, which represents a kind of base version of the cards. Later, on November 28, 2024, the new Hero cards will receive automatic upgrades to the Prime versions.
So anyone who draws a Hero card at the start can look forward to a decent upgrade in November.

The strongest card goes to former German footballer Célia Šašić, who already has an 88 rating in the Origin variant and will receive a 91 card in the Prime version.

As soon as there are detailed ratings, we will update this post.
What about the Hero cards from FC 24? It is not yet known whether some Hero cards from FC 24 will make the jump to FC 25. It is quite possible that they will be introduced at a later time.
Anyone looking to secure a Hero card at the start of FC 25 must opt for the Ultimate Edition of FC 25. A random Hero card is included in the pre-order bonuses but only until August 20. The Infernal Hordes are a new endgame activity that came with Season 5 in Diablo 4. They have become quite popular now, although that was different before.
What mode is it about? It is about the Infernal Hordes, which were introduced as a new endgame activity with Season 5 in Diablo 4. They are available at World Tiers 3 and 4. In the Infernal Hordes, you fight against waves of monsters and finally against three members of the “Cruel Council.” If you complete the run, you can choose from various rewards at the end: items, mats, and gold.
On the PTR (public test realm), players were able to test the new mode before the season started. According to Diablo expert Raxxanterax, the Hordes were simply not fun during the test. Blizzard adjusted the activity after the PTR, and now many players seem to be satisfied.

Diablo 4: Developers offer insight into the Season of the Infernal Hordes
Good monster density, rewarding drops
What is now good about the mode? Players are currently discussing the Infernal Hordes and praising various aspects of the new endgame activity:
The monster density is “a dream” and the choices between the waves are well implemented, writes “gorays21” on Reddit. He finds that the Infernal Hordes are the best thing that could happen to Diablo 4.
In the same post, content creator “MacroBioBoi” comments that the Infernal Hordes are the “cooler older brother of the Legion events.”
The Infernal Hordes are “fun, fantastic, and very rewarding,” writes “Lurkin17” on Reddit. He adds that you can collect a lot of low iron in the activity, “without losing your mind from boredom while speed-farming […]” and you get loot and gold.
“OlFilthy35912” thinks on Reddit: “The new game mode has completely made the Pit and farming Whisper chests in the endgame obsolete.” He claims that the Infernal Hordes are “sweatier” but also more entertaining. You can also get “tons of gold.”
From the comments, it is clear that players wish for more activities in this direction. For example, “gorays21” writes: “Diablo 4 needs more endgame activities like this.” Various players also note that the Infernal Hordes represent a promising way to farm mats. Therefore, the “Pit” is now essentially useless.
Blizzard has extensively revamped the Infernal Hordes before the launch of Season 5. Previously, players had to farm the compass that starts the activity. They received it, for example, from chests in the Hell Floods – but not guaranteed. The drop rate of the compasses was far too low.
MeinMMO editor Karsten Scholz had the opportunity to play with the developers of ArenaNet in Janthir Wilds. The new expansion of Guild Wars 2 has its strengths and weaknesses, often exciting but also leaving some potential untapped.
We also challenged a world boss, solved quests and events, and learned more about the new rewards. The new 10-player raid, which can also be approached as a 50-player convergence, was, however, not on the agenda.
Who is writing here? Karsten Scholz is the MMORPG expert from MeinMMO. He has been dealing with the best genre in the world almost daily for 15 years. The first private encounter took place in 2005.
Since then, he has accumulated several years of play time in various online role-playing games and has played almost every relevant genre representative of the last nearly two decades at least for a while. This also includes Guild Wars 2, which he has been playing from time to time since the early launch on August 25, 2012.

Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds – Announcement trailer introduces you to new expansion
Leisurely Start into the Wilderness
The new expansion first takes all Tyrian heroes to the Janthir Islands. Your objective: Find new allies for the Tyrian Alliance to be prepared for future threats. The journey during the hands-on event begins at the so-called Moon Camp of the Astral Watch, which is dedicated to protecting the Janthir Islands.
There, an old acquaintance welcomes the adventurers: Vanak – you fought against the Kryptis with him in Amnytas. The next half hour makes it clear: The upcoming adventure starts leisurely. Through conversations, you get to know the land and its people. Familiarize yourself with the nearby wilderness. Reach the settlement of the Lowland Kodan, where you unlock the Warclaw mount.
What about the Spear? My Thief relies on combo attacks and condition damage with the spear in hand. When a combo of the two standard attacks is successfully completed, other spear skills receive additional bonuses.
This also includes a useful stealth attack, which can also be enhanced through combos. All of this was smoothly animated, effectively staged, and felt just as good as my currently preferred staff.
The Clear Highlight: the Warclaw
In the test characters, the Warclaw, many will surely know it from the World-versus-World area, was already unlocked from the start for the new expansion. For the launch, it applies: If you already own the PvP mount, you still need to obtain the extended version for use in the open world from the Lowland Kodan.
For me, it is already clear that the new Warclaw will immediately rise to be one of my favorite mounts in Guild Wars 2. It is extremely mobile with its multiple jumps in the air (only stamina is the limit), the character does not take fall damage on it, and it can track treasures.
There are also several skills to attack enemies and pull them in or throw them to the ground. The high flexibility and mobility of the cat come into play not only when exploring the world but also during some events or the new convergence content.
The secret stars of the new expansion: the Warclaw cats.
First Cozy, Then Deadly
After arriving in the settlement of the Lowland Kodan and many dialogues, the developers explain that they consciously want to create a feel-good atmosphere at the beginning of Janthir Wilds. This is reflected in the events of the settlement: You catch cute mini Warclaws that have run away, or participate in a dance party of the Kodan.
In this first region, the focus is entirely on leisurely exploration and getting to know the Kodan culture. Therefore, there is no overarching meta and no dangerous world boss that could destroy the “cozy vibes”. Instead, you can now complete the heart tasks multiple times to earn new rewards.
Nevertheless, fighting does take place in the first area, in an arena for example, where you can challenge bosses and master exercises. With strong actions, you can excite the audience and gain a power boost through the cheers. If you don’t want to fight, you can even join the spectators and thus make progress on the corresponding tasks.
You will face this world boss in Janthir Syntri.
Off to Janthir Syntri
It gets really dangerous in the second new region, Janthir Syntri. There, powerful Titans are said to roam, and indeed we get a first impression of the dangerous giants and their jumping attacks and area attacks during a world boss event.
A particularly dangerous attack does not stop until the raid breaks the boss’s stance. However, this can only happen when a) all the small creatures are defeated and b) afterwards enough damage is dealt to the beast.
If it is possible to break the stance of the world boss and stop the attack, the boss is momentarily weakened. Now players can mount their Warclaw, throw a spear with a rope into the flank of the opponent, ride around it and then bring it down like an AT-AT from Star Wars. Cool!
The housing of Guild Wars 2 is aimed at decorators and collectors.
The Housing of Guild Wars 2
At the end of the hands-on event, a visit to the new home instance was on the agenda. Similar to the Warclaw mount, you also automatically unlock access to your own home through the story of Janthir Wilds. You and your group can access the property from anywhere in the world through a summonable magical door.
When you enter the home instance for the first time, you will already find some standard buildings on the spacious property that can be expanded through home instance masteries. Additionally, you can unlock improvements for sawmills, mines, and farms. However, you cannot build completely new buildings or destroy or alter the existing ones.
However, countless size-adjustable decorations are available to outfit the main house or get creative in other ways. The operation is quite smooth after a short familiarization period. If needed, you can transform into a flying bee to get a better overview of your building project or to position objects in the air.
In Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds, you can finally use the spear on land for the first time.
The new home instances fit well within Guild Wars 2, as they allow all collectors to showcase their mounts, characters, but also special armor and weapon skins. Additionally, you will find all your resource nodes here, which can also be harvested, of course.
All of this is nice, but I personally miss one or two content features that are directly linked to the housing feature. For instance, WildStar had the so-called housing expeditions back then, which could be completed alone or with friends to earn exclusive decorations.
With Janthir Wilds, Guild Wars 2 seems to be on course for a solid expansion that initially brings more of what fans of the MMORPG have appreciated for many years. It is almost a little sad that the feature that excited me the most during the play was already known from the WvW area (even if not in exactly this form).
The leisurely introduction to the new adventure might annoy some. I found it quite fitting to first learn more about the Janthir Islands and their inhabitants and to take it easy with dance performances and cat cuddles.
