At the conclusion of the first year of Destiny 2, the Guardians are greeted with the summer event “Solstice of Heroes”. We have summarized how the event will unfold and everything you need to know.

Bungie ends July with the first year of Destiny 2 with the seasonal summer event “Solstice of Heroes”. As part of this event, the Guardians are to celebrate their previous achievements and accomplishments before the upcoming Forsaken expansion. There are numerous new rewards to earn and also to complete the Triumph Moments from Year 1. We have summarized everything important for you.

Solstice of Heroes – The Highlight of Summer in Destiny 2

When does it start?

The Solstice of Heroes starts on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, with the Weekly Reset – at 19:00.

How does the event unfold? 

Continuation of the Moments of Triumph: The Solstice event is closely linked to the Triumph Moments from Year 1. These are a series of specific Year 1 challenges that must be completed to earn unique rewards. While many challenges are already live and can be played, the last five challenges will only be available with the Solstice of Heroes and will revolve around the event.

A statue will guide you: Ikora Rey is your contact for the Solstice of Heroes event. She will lead you to the middle of the tower, where the Last City has erected a statue for its heroes. This statue will be the central point for the duration of the event.

The statue will count your progress within the Triumph Moments. The individual triumphs will be tracked via Triumph Bounties that you can also receive from the statue or redeem there for points and rewards after completing them. You will also receive the event gear there, which you can upgrade during this summer festival.

Redux missions: During the event, players can complete specific story missions on a higher difficulty level to work towards armor pieces with a power level of 400. These Redux missions are said to be significantly harder than the regular versions and will be contested in a slightly altered form with different opponents.

Each of these missions can be started in the tower by seeking out and interacting with the corresponding small statue. The following Redux missions are planned for the Solstice event:

• Homecoming
• Spark
• Revenge
• 1AE
• Chosen

By the way: The Armsweek, or the weapon week, which numerous fans suspected as part of the Solstice event, has not been mentioned even once so far. Whether the fans were wrong or Bungie is still holding one or two surprises for the event remains to be seen.

The Rewards

Ceremonial Armors: In addition to the rewards of the Triumph Moments, only the ceremonial armors of the Solstice of Heroes are known so far. These are the destroyed armors that the Guardians wore at the beginning of Destiny 2, when the city fell victim to the Cabal.

These armor sets will be gradually upgraded to a power level of 400: At the statue of heroes, you will first receive the armor set “Scorched” with a power level of 240. For each armor piece, there is a series of tasks that must be completed to upgrade the armor – including in the Redux missions. Once the tasks have been completed, you return to the statue of heroes to start on the next set.

After the broken set is completed, you will receive the “Rekindled” set at power level 340. Again, you must complete a new task list in order to ultimately attain the “Radiant” armor set at a power level of 400. If all corresponding tasks have been completed there, the masterwork version of the armor set will be unlocked.

However, if you like the look of the “Scorched” or “Rekindled” sets and prefer to use those, that is also possible. Each “Radiant” set offers the previous versions of the armor as ornaments. You can decide as you wish how each individual armor piece looks.

Eververse Items: For the duration of the Solstice, there will be a new Solstice Engram in the Eververse. Per account, you can earn three by completing the event milestone for each of your characters. No matter which activity you play in Destiny 2 during the Solstice of Heroes – you will receive a Solstice Engram in addition to the regular Glimmer Engram for each level-up.

During this period, as well as during the Crimson Week, a knockout system will be active. This means: You will receive new items from the event engrams until you have collected all the Solstice event items. Only then will there be duplicates.

From the Solstice Engrams, you can also obtain armor glows. These cosmetics can be applied to any version of the Solstice armor sets. Armor glows will be permanently unlocked after receiving and shine brightest when the focus element of the respective Guardian class matches the element of the glow.

On July 17, 2018, the race for the World First Raid Clear in the Prestige version of the Gauntlet passage started at Destiny 2. After only about 20 minutes, the first team was already finished. Fans view the new Prestige track with mixed feelings.

On July 17, 2018, at 8:00 PM, the race for the first successful completion of the Prestige version of the Gauntlet track began. The race did not last long. After nearly 20 minutes, the final boss Argos was already defeated – despite new modifiers and limited weapon selection.

World First Clear of the 1st Prestige Track – More of a Sprint than a Race

Once again Redeem: In just over 20 minutes, the race or rather the sprint for the World First Clear was already over. Once again, it was the team from the famous Redeem clan with the support of YouTuber Gigz who claimed the title.

Prestige innovations not a real obstacle: Even the new modifier Prestige: Arsenal could not really slow down the experienced Guardians. This modifier is quite something: it removes all ammunition reserves from your weapons. When you empty the magazine of the currently equipped weapon, the magazine of the next summoned weapon is loaded. The expended magazine of your kinetic weapon reloads the magazine of your energy weapon, which then in turn reloads the power weapon when emptied, and so on.

The limited weapon choice, however, did not pose a serious obstacle. The team was restricted to a kinetic pulse rifle, an energy submachine gun, and a grenade launcher in the power slot.

The community views the new Prestige track with mixed feelings: Gigz himself said on Twitter that while a new challenge is always cool and there’s now a reason to play the raid tracks again, he personally prefers the classic Prestige experience – with new mechanics and a higher difficulty level. This opinion is shared by many other fans – even though many wonder why it took nearly nine months for such minor changes.

To everyone’s surprise, it apparently is also not intended to use one of the announced features of the Prestige tracks as expected. Thus, the Prestige passages of the Gauntlet and the World Eater offer exclusive weapons as a reward with a power level of 400. However, these firearms are apparently not intended to be infused into other weapons. Fans are not very pleased about this.

A bug is currently causing Level 400 weapons to be infused within limited bounds.

Before the Forsaken expansion, players should be able to reach Power Level 400 in Destiny 2. But be careful when infusing! Here’s what you need to watch out for if you don’t want to waste your 400 weapon!

The first teams were already done in just under 20 minutes with the Prestige mode of the World Eater passage. As a reward, there was among other things a weapon with a Power Level of 400. However, there were big eyes and open mouths when infusing. Because it doesn’t work the way one would expect.

Weapons with Power Level 400 – Caution When Infusing!

Confusion Surrounding the Infusion of 400 Weapons: Numerous Guardians were quite surprised yesterday when they infused their first weapon with a Power Level of 400 into their favorite gun. Because for many, the infusion did not change the desired weapon at all. The Power Level remained unchanged. Others reported, however, that they were now, for example, proud owners of a 405 D.A.R.C.I.

What Was Going On? As Bungie has now confirmed, it is a bug. Guardians were not supposed to be able to infuse the new 400 rewards from the recently launched Prestige Raid sectors into other weapons at all. Apparently, due to the bug, it is still partially possible, but it often works differently than players expect. The studio has already taken up the issue and is working on a solution. However, they did not say when to expect it.

What You Should Watch Out for When Infusing: Infusing the new 400 weapons was not intended and therefore partially fails. If you don’t want to waste your newly acquired 400 weapon, you should pay attention to the following:

• Infusion only effective with Exotics: Currently, you can easily infuse a weapon with a Power Level of 400 into a corresponding Exotic. It works as usual and raises the exotic weapon to a Power Level of 405.
• Avoid infusing into legendary weapons: Infusing the 400 reward into another legendary weapon of your choice is faulty. Normally, it shouldn’t be possible at all – for most weapons it isn’t. However, you can infuse the 400 weapon into another legendary raid weapon. This will, however, only raise it to 380/385. Thus, you would unnecessarily waste the valuable Prestige sector loot.
• The workaround also doesn’t work: There is theoretically still the possibility of infusing Exotics to a Power Level of 405 and then using them to feed other legendary weapons of your choice. But even in this case, the desired weapon will end at 380/385.
• Legendary 400 weapons: If you want a legendary weapon at 400/405, you must keep the reward weapon from the Prestige raid sector. There is currently no other way to do this.
• For players without Warmind: Players who do not own the Warmind expansion should be particularly careful when infusing. If they infuse a 400 weapon into a legendary weapon, they will temporarily lose access to that weapon.

Until Bungie offers a solution, you should either keep your Prestige sector reward with Power Level 400 or infuse it into a suitable Exotic. With all other options, you would simply waste your hard-earned 400 weapon.
