Especially in the early levels, it is important to get close to enemies just before leveling up. The explosion triggered at the level-up deals a lot of damage to enemies early on.
Bethesda has released new plans for the future of Fallout 76 in a new “Inside the Vault”. These plans involve you as players significantly more in the development of the game. This is good, but it might also rub some the wrong way.
What happened? On January 17, Bethesda posted a new “Inside the Vault”. It states that several changes are on the horizon. Particularly active players will have more influence on what is to come. I think this is exactly the right approach.
The future of Fallout 76 is yours
What can you decide? Bethesda has addressed several issues that will happen in the future with your collaboration. Specifically, the developers mention three things:
Additionally, you are encouraged to share in forums or on Reddit which events you particularly enjoy, how you play them, and which rewards intrigue you the most. Overall, the overview of events should be improved so that it is immediately clear how long it will take.
Why this is good: The plan to incorporate player feedback more strongly is, in my opinion, a good and important step. This approach to developing Fallout 76 has been missing from Bethesda before the game’s release and it has bitterly backfired.
Fallout 76 was not released in a state that players wanted and was outright hated on Metacritic. Nevertheless, it remains an online game that continues to evolve. And only with player feedback can it be changed in a way that serves the community.
With the help of the players, Fallout 76 can now become what it wanted to be from the very beginning: a Fallout experience in multiplayer. Without player feedback and its implementation, a multiplayer experience could hardly be considered “good,” as that is a subjective opinion.
Why this is fodder for critics: However, the decision also has a downside. Already now, many critics are calling that Bethesda is offloading too much work onto the players and is not changing anything themselves.
The step to actively ask for feedback will only further fuel this criticism. It will even provide some trolls with a better basis to point fingers at Fallout 76 and laugh at the supposed incompetence of the developers.
One can only hope that this criticism gets drowned out by the positive feedback and is less heard. Because without feedback and the implementation of impressions, Fallout 76 is doomed to stand still.
Other changes: Lastly, Bethesda talks about some specific changes that you can expect in the future. For one, “Double Shot” affixes for weapons will be nerfed. They will only receive a 25% damage bonus. Additionally, weapon mods will no longer automatically break upon repairs.
On the other hand, there will be changes to PvP. Previously, a type of PvP mode for Fallout 76 was promised. In this mode, the game should play just like before, only with removed PvP rules for more conflicts. More on this topic should come next week, around January 24.

In Fortnite: Battle Royale, many fans fear major changes to the game right before important tournaments. Developer Epic wants to handle this better in the future and troll its pro gamers less with big updates.
What is the problem with Fortnite and the pros? In Fortnite, two fundamental opinions have clashed for a long time.
On one side are the pros, who make money with Fortnite and train hard for it. Especially in highly lucrative tournaments, a lot of time and effort goes into preparation. These professional players find it important to utilize their hard-earned skills profitably in the game.
These two opinions become a problem, especially when Epic releases an update with fundamental changes shortly before an important tournament.
Epic takes a step back and wants to take more consideration
For some time now, pros have been complaining that Epic is making things unnecessarily difficult for them. The now-removed super sword caused a lot of chaos in a tournament and caught many pros completely off guard.
The pro gamers sharply criticized this. They demanded, “Epic, please stop throwing such heavy obstacles in our way! Please do not release such updates on the day of a major tournament!”
This is how Epic wants to improve in 2019: So far, Epic has not cared much about the complaints. They want a fun game, and changes are part of that.
Now, however, the developers have released a statement regarding the status of the competitive game. They seem to want to better address the needs of the pros in the future.
They want to continue to have an exciting game with weekly changes that players constantly need to adapt to. However, they also want to take consideration and provide an appropriate timeframe before major tournaments, in which players can prepare for the new gameplay.
This timeframe should be at least a few days, possibly even a whole week. This is supposed to be the case already at the upcoming Australian Open, where only the core Battle Royale modes will be included. In the future, they want to better synchronize updates and tournaments without suspending weekly changes.
At the end of January, Destiny 2 is set to receive a new update aimed at adjusting weapon balance. Bungie has now revealed which weapons will be buffed and which will be nerfed.
After Bungie recently provided insight into how they plan to revise the supers of the individual Guardian classes in January, the studio has now revealed how the sandbox will be adjusted in terms of weapons.
Sandbox Changes in January – What Will Change for Weapons in Destiny 2
In January, Update 2.1.4 will bring changes to entire weapon categories, as well as individual firearms. Bungie’s approach for these adjustments is as follows:
Underused weapon archetypes will be strengthened
Particularly strong weapons in PvP will be adjusted
Adjustments in PvP should not negatively impact the effectiveness of weapons in PvE

These Weapons Will Be Buffed
These examples do not represent all upcoming changes. A complete list of all adjustments will be included in the corresponding patch notes for Update 2.1.4.
Auto rifles: The damage of the rapid-fire, adaptive archetypes, as well as auto rifles with high impact will be increased. Bungie did not specify by how much.
Scout rifles: In PvE, the damage of scout rifles has been increased overall, as well as for lightweight and rapid-fire scout variants. The studio did not provide exact numbers here either.
However, the damage difference between this weapon category and other primary weapons was too large. Therefore, Bungie decided to reduce this difference. There were no details provided for PvP.
Sniper rifles: The rapid-fire archetype will receive a damage buff, making it possible to get kills with two body shots in the Crucible. Landing kills with sniper rifles will then be easier.
Fusion rifles: In the Crucible, it is difficult to accumulate ammo reserves for fusion rifles, as there is no Scavenger perk for these weapons. Therefore, this weapon category will soon receive more ammo. The minimum amount of ammo obtained from special ammo containers will be increased – in both PvP and PvE.
Legend of Acrius: After the launch of Forsaken, this exotic shotgun failed to compete with the strong competition in the power slot. Therefore, at the end of January, its damage will be increased and its range slightly improved. This is intended to make the Legend of Acrius more appealing again.
These Weapons Will Be Nerfed
As of now, only 2 individual weapons are affected by the nerf. Entire weapon categories apparently will not be weakened.
Wave Splitter: Even though fusion rifles are generally getting buffed with the January patch, the Wave Splitter will also face a cut.
With the ammo buff for fusion rifles, the Wave Splitter loses its only real weakness, so Bungie has decided to align it with the other two fusion rifles. Therefore, its damage will be reduced in the Crucible.
The damage in PvP will be reduced to match other fusion rifles with the same charge rate. The zoom of the scope has also been increased, aligning it with fusion rifles with long range. Bungie expects that the weapon will remain effective after these changes, just not as generous as before.

The search for the “Anthem of Creation”: The story is only lightly sketched but piques curiosity and reveals why the game is actually called “Anthem”. The various factions in the game are trying to gain control of the “Anthem of Creation” – a mechanism with which one would hold the power over creation and destruction. It is understandable that one would not want this power in the hands of the wrong people while sharing a planet.
Classic progression with a lot of freedom: In its progression system, Anthem does not make any big experiments but also relies on a gear score. This is basically the added value of the equipment and a good indicator of how strong one’s Javelin is and which content one might tackle next. The gear score increases with better equipment, which in turn makes particularly tough content easier, attracting greater rewards.
Closely intertwined with progression is also the customization system in Anthem, as it naturally goes hand in hand. For example, if one finds a particularly cool support equipment, one can potentially set up a new type of shield and adjust one’s play style accordingly. Thus, the Javelins of different players will also play slightly differently, and players will experience different abilities.
Cortyn says: To be honest, most of the videos and impressions of Anthem have left me rather cold so far. But after this trailer, I feel the urge to jump into a Javelin and let my weapons do the talking. It looks like February might not be as boring as I feared…

The new MMO Torchlight Frontiers has completed its second alpha test. The system for improving your hero in the game had to be adjusted based on tester feedback.
Players demanded a system that is more traditional than what was initially planned.
Players did not enjoy leveling up
What happened? During the second alpha of Torchlight Frontiers, testers complained about the system for leveling up their heroes in the game. A horizontal system was planned in which you would decide whether to invest your gained skill points into your gear or in new skills.
However, most testers did not like this. There was a lack of loot hunting. They constantly had to return to the fort to level up items, or decide whether to invest points in equipment or skills. Therefore, they wished for a more traditional progression system.
With the initially planned system, it was also possible to collect skill points on one front and use them for skills and equipment of another front. However, this was not how it was supposed to work.
A new system was needed
What does the system look like now? You now see an EXP bar that fills up depending on the front you are in. When you level up, you can use equipment of the corresponding front level.
You no longer have to decide whether to put skill points into your equipment or skills, as the equipment now depends on your front level.

What are the fronts? Torchlight Frontiers differs somewhat from many other MMOs due to the fronts.
Fronts are areas that you visit gradually

Why was the system changed? The developers state that player feedback is important. After all, they want players to have fun with Torchlight Frontiers for a long time. If other systems and features also do not resonate well, they will be adjusted as well.
After some players infiltrated a secret room in Fallout 76, the first penalties are now raining down. Apparently, it was not desired to be there, as Bethesda has temporarily suspended accounts with illegal items.
This is what happened: Players who possess items in Fallout 76 that should not be in the game received temporary account penalties. Specifically, these are items from the secret developer room.
It seems that even accounts of players who never entered the room can be affected. So in the future, you should pay close attention to which items you pick up from the ground.
The secret developer room is forbidden
Why were the players banned? The corresponding items should not be accessible to players. Therefore, the accounts were temporarily suspended, and it seems that Bethesda wants to remove the items from circulation.
The first players who entered the room initially had no problems. Shortly after the event, however, players reported receiving automatic bans ranging from 6 to 24 hours. Bethesda has previously been quick with bans, such as when a group of players dedicated themselves to hunting homosexuals.
However, they were still able to give other players the items from the developer room. Some of the corresponding items were apparently even duplicated by exploiting a bug that was removed shortly thereafter with the patch from January 10.
Especially affected are plans for various mods, some weapons, and cosmetic items. The accounts on which corresponding items were found have now been temporarily deactivated. Since innocent players may also be affected by the duplication, they should contact Bethesda support if they are affected.
This was the situation: The reason is that the players in question have items from a secret developer room in their inventory. This room was recently discovered by some players.
The developer room contains all items in the game and even a human NPC. The NPC Wooby is the only living person in Fallout 76 who is not controlled by players. Although the room was moved a bit, some players apparently were still able to enter.
According to eurogamer, it was only possible for PC players to enter the room. They had to use third-party software, presumably hacking. However, now players who did not enter the room themselves are also affected.

Could this happen to me? This is unlikely. Since the corresponding accounts are currently deactivated, no one should be able to give you stolen items anymore. Whether the currently existing items can be deleted remains to be seen.
Additionally, interaction with the storage boxes in the developer room has been removed. Although the room can still be entered under certain circumstances, players can no longer take items from it.
This is what the community thought: Shortly after the report, rumors circulated that the developer room was just a fake created by trolls with mods for Fallout 4. However, these actions against the corresponding accounts now indicate that the room really exists and that players were able to gain access.

In the pirate MMO Atlas, problems have been recurring since its launch in Early Access. While most issues are due to bugs or cheaters, there has now been a special incident. Apparently, unauthorized access to an admin account of the game was gained.
What happened? Yesterday, Lead Community Manager Jatheish announced that there would be a rollback of the PvP servers in North America.
The reason for this is the takeover of an admin account on Steam.
This account was, however, not compromised through a hack, a third-party program, or an exploit.
How large was the rollback? The rollback affected a period of nearly five and a half hours. From the perspective of American players, the rollback was implemented late in the morning.
Any progress made by players on Thursday morning was lost.
How are players reacting? The reactions of players to the announced server rollback were very mixed. Some showed understanding, while others reacted with mockery.
There was particularly ridicule for the takeover of the admin account. If there was no hack or exploit, then the password must have been very simple from the players’ perspective. “RIP Security Team,” wrote the player Port, for example.
Other players are of course complaining that they have lost progress in Atlas themselves.
However, there are also players demanding a much larger rollback. Currently, it seems that cheaters are on the rise and ruining the game for many players.
Over a week ago, the developers promised that an anti-cheat tool is being worked on. If one follows the current threads on Reddit, then it seems that Atlas desperately needs this tool.

Players of the MMORPG ArcheAge had previously complained about expensive mounts being “nerfed”. The developers referred to this as “normalized”. And now, even under the new owner gamigo, the old game starts all over again.
What happened? With the recently released update 5.1 for version “Relics of Hiram”, there was another normalization of the mounts. Players feel deceived and express their frustration.
What is “normalization”? Basically, it is just a nerf. Mounts that were offered with a certain movement speed suddenly run slower and are thus adjusted to the regular “normal” speed.
What is the problem? The mounts are offered in lockboxes for a specific amount and customers purchase these mounts in good faith, believing that their stats are correct and will remain so. Speed plays a major role.
Many ArcheAge players spend a lot of money to use a particularly fast mount.
However, seeing the speed of the mount nerfed without prior notice angers the players. They feel as though they have fallen for a bait-and-switch.
This is why players feel even more deceived: Such a “normalization” has occurred before.
In 2017, the mount “Stormwraith” was nerfed in the same manner. Many had hoped that this practice would not continue under the new ArcheAge operator gamigo. But now, exactly the same thing has happened again.
Once again, there was a “normalization” of previously expensive, fast mounts. And again, there was no prior warning. The mounts like Lunaris and Celestar, which are now affected, were offered for weeks.
