The MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) will be offline for server maintenance on the PC on August 23. The maintenance is expected to last until 2:00 PM. A new patch will address the issue with guild traders on Sunday, remove duplicated gold from the game, and reduce the number of crashes.
How long will the maintenance take? ESO is currently offline on PC. The maintenance of the European and North American mega servers for the PC in the MMORPG:

Why is the maintenance unusual? It is unusual for ESO to perform server maintenance on a Friday – this is due to special circumstances: A bug during the guild trader reset on Sunday resulted in “duplicated gold” circulating. This gold has caused quite a stir in the ESO forums in recent days.

Crashes and Guild Trader Bug
These are the main changes: The patch notes state that patch 5.1.7 includes several fixes for some crashes. Crashes had been more frequent since Monday with the last patch.
Zenimax will also address a problem with multi-bidding in the update, which caused players to repeatedly receive gold back when the game was under “heavy load.” This problem was the source of the “duplicated gold” that caused issues last week.
Additionally, there are some balance changes and fixes in the update.
ESO confiscates the gold generated by the bug
How is Zenimax handling the issue? All guilds that received gold through multi-bidding will have the extra gold removed from their guild banks.
If Zenimax needs to take more gold from the bank than is available, the bank will be reduced to 0 gold. If the guild still has no money in the bank, their bids on guild traders this week will be canceled and the outstanding gold will be taken from these bids.
Some guilds and individuals who heavily abused the bug and tried to move, spend, or launder the money will be treated separately. It is said that appropriate measures will be found.
The Intrepid Studios have released a new trailer for Ashes of Creation. This finally showcases the MMORPG again, after the focus has recently been on the battle royale part.

What is special about the trailer? On one hand, the trailer gives the impression that the game is quite far along. This can be misleading, as it seems to be in-game graphics, but no real gameplay is shown.
On the other hand, it is finally a sign of life from the MMORPG part of Ashes of Creation. Currently, there is an impression that the developers are focusing on the battle royale part, Ashes of Creation: Apocalypse. Recently, a test phase started again for this.
Work on the MMORPG continues
What’s new regarding the MMORPG? As the team announced in July, work is continuing on the MMORPG alongside Apocalypse. Creatures for the world are currently being created, including horses. The developers are also working on internal systems that are very important for Alpha 1.
Trade routes are an important aspect of the game. Caravans must be protected, and other players can raid them. Additionally, trade can lead to players building good or bad relations with other cities – even wars are possible.
Work on the MMORPG part of Ashes of Creation is thus progressing, and the new trailer makes it exciting again to finally be able to play the online game.
At gamescom 2019, our author Jürgen had a special mission: to test Google Stadia and see for himself if the game streaming service delivers on its promises.
What is Google Stadia?Google Stadia is a game streaming service. According to the concept, as a Stadia customer, you can stream a lineup of games in their current versions and in high quality directly to a device such as any PC, a television, or a mobile device.
Your hardware is independent of this. Theoretically, you could play high-quality titles, such as Borderlands 3, Cyberpunk, and Doom Eternal on an old computer or even a tablet, wherever you have a sufficient internet connection.
That all sounds great, but does it actually work? At gamescom 2019, I, Jürgen, was able to try out Stadia for the first time.

What did Jürgen play? At the large stand of Google Stadia, one could try out the games Mortal Kombat 11 and the upcoming Doom Eternal for the first time on Google Stadia. I chose Doom, as the shooter has long been on my list of interesting games.
How did the game go? I was placed at a spot where Doom was streamed via a small notebook to a large monitor. Unfortunately, I only had the Stadia controller as an input device. It looks cool, but I just cannot play shooters well with a gamepad.
Yet I struggled through the tutorial and initially enjoyed the stylish opening sequence in which the Doom Slayer strides through the headquarters of the military, and everyone steps back in awe before him.
Shortly thereafter, the action began, typical Doom. And what can I say? The game ran smoothly and looked good. I defeated masses of monsters, caused a lot of explosions, and slaughtered helpless demon spawn with the various special kill moves that Doom Eternal dishes out even more brutally than its predecessor.
Everything ran really smoothly, and one did not feel that everything was not running locally on the computer, but via a distant server farm. However, it was also not known what kind of internet connection Google had provided for Stadia at the fair and whether everything was actually live-streamed.
But if this is the performance that Stadia can deliver with a typical internet connection, then I am convinced.
Jürgen’s Conclusion on Stadia
These are my hopes: I have been considering whether I should pre-order Stadia for a while now, and ultimately Stadia convinced me at gamescom to give it a chance. Whether it’s Borderlands 3, Cyberpunk, ESO, or Doom Eternal: almost every game I want to play in 2019 and 2020 is available in the current game lineup for Stadia.
How awesome would it be to stream these games on a tablet anytime or to start every evening on the computer without annoying updates? Especially as a new father, I have very little time to play, and every minute wasted on updates is a nightmare. With Stadia, however, I could jump right in and wouldn’t have to upgrade my hardware anymore.
And if Stadia ever supports my Samsung mobile devices – which I assume it will – I could even play a round of Doom on the go or complete my daily crafting tasks in the Stadia version of ESO.
These are my concerns: On the other hand, there are still a few worries that no one could dispel at gamescom 2019:
Are accounts and progress on Stadia compatible with the regular versions of the game? If I buy Borderlands or Cyberpunk regularly and later play on Stadia, do I have to start from scratch?
Can I even play with PC or console players, or are Stadia players left to themselves?
Does the stream really work reliably, or does Stadia possibly drop out often, leaving you unable to play for hours?
I hope that these questions will be answered soon and that Stadia could indeed become the promised future of gaming.
But enough about me, have you tested Stadia already or are you planning to get it? Or are you still skeptical?
Shortly before Gamescom, Gamigo announced a new version of the MMORPG ArcheAge. This will feature a Buy2Play model and will no longer include Pay2Win elements. We summarize everything about the new version.
What are the main differences between the versions? The main difference is the monetization:
The regular ArcheAge operates on a Free2Play model with an item shop – there is still an optional subscription
ArcheAge Unchained will be released as a Buy2Play game with an item shop and a season pass
What does the season pass offer? The so-called ArchePass will come in two variants:
The Standard Pass is free and offers a new currency which you can exchange for cosmetic rewards and titles, and you also receive reward potions that provide small advantages in the game
The Premium Pass costs 10 dollars and also offers the new currency, but no reward potions
The ArchePasses are intended to run for three months and then be replaced by new ones. You will have to unlock the contents through daily missions such as fighting against monsters or other players.
What does the in-game shop of ArcheAge Unchained offer? Only cosmetic items should be available for purchase. More detailed information will be provided later. There will be no Pay2Win items. Gamigo aims to create a fair game.
What else is different between the game variants? In ArcheAge Unchained, there will be no Apex, the special currency that grants you credits. Additionally, there is no optional subscription.

Will it be possible to transfer characters, items, and credits between the versions? No. Both game versions have a different economy. Therefore, you will need to start completely over if you want to play ArcheAge Unchained.
Why isn’t the existing version of the MMORPG simply switched over? Gamigo explains that ArcheAge has its own economy. A simple switch would affect it significantly, possibly even destroy it.
Will both versions receive new content? Yes. Upcoming updates with new content such as the planned overhaul of the siege system and the Swiftblade skills will be released for both versions.
What are the previous reactions? Generally, ArcheAge Unchained is well received. Fans are excited to see how this Buy2Play variant plays. However, there are still some questions open. In addition to the release date and price, many wonder how building will work if everyone can do it without restrictions.
Moreover, there is the question whether the two versions will not split the players. Additionally, players want to know how hacks and exploits will be handled.
The interest in ArcheAge Unchained is high, and many hope that the MMORPG will play more fairly due to the Buy2Play model. However, Gamigo still has some questions to answer.
ArcheAge Unchained is essentially intended to offer you a new and different way to experience the MMORPG.
The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was released in October 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. One special feature: players on consoles can choose to play with mouse and keyboard. However, they will then compete against PC players or other console players with a mouse in hand.

What problems can arise here? The pioneer Fortnite faced difficulties with this system.
The problem in Fortnite was that players using certain emulators pretended to be playing with a controller, while they were actually using a mouse and keyboard. This gave them the advantage of both systems: they had aim assist and controller players as opponents, while they were using a mouse and keyboard.
Epic had to patch – the developer of the emulator released counter patches, causing unrest.

In this tier list, you will find the best classes, builds, and gear of Season 18 of Diablo 3. In this season, you can also benefit from changes to the Legacy of Nightmares set.
Season 18 in Diablo 3 starts – what does that mean? All your previous seasonal characters will be converted to non-seasonal characters. Your collected Paragon points will be added to the main account.
This means that you start from “zero” at the beginning of each season. You can create a new character and must complete all levels anew as well as rise through the Paragon ranks again.
In addition, there are again new rewards from Haedrig’s Seasonal Journey, such as a complete set, a new portrait frame, and more.
Therefore, it is all the more important that you level up quickly, as the real endgame begins only at level 70.
What’s new in Season 18? In addition to the new rewards from Haedrig’s Seasonal Journey, there is another change to the previous season: The ring set Legacy of Nightmares provided you with exorbitant bonuses as long as you did not wear set items. In the new Season 18, just a single gem is enough to achieve this effect.
This has the advantage that you can freely choose your rings as long as you have the gem “Legacy of Dreams” socketed. This potentially opens up new ways to become even stronger and achieve higher levels of Greater Nephalem Rifts.

Diablo expert Rhykker (Rhykkers YouTube Channel) is now a living legend among Diablo players and has been providing the community with current builds and analyses for each season in Diablo 3 for many years. The basis for creating this list are extensive tests on the PTR of Diablo 3 and theory crafting.
What do the individual tiers of the tier list mean? The “tiers” represent gradations of the best classes and their respective builds. Combinations in Tier S are considered the best in the entire game, while builds in Tier F are regarded as weaker.
Weaker, however, does not mean bad in this case. The differences between the tiers have tended to decrease in the past seasons. Therefore, this tier list does not represent the absolute truth, but rather gives a rough direction of which setup can successfully compete at the top of the leaderboards.

This will be eased: Stage 2 of the Jirachi special research presents you with the task “Evolve a Magikarp”. This can be quite difficult, as the Water Pokémon is not found everywhere and you need a total of 100 candies.

The Water event provides relief here, as Niantic has already confirmed that Magikarp will appear more frequently, especially around bodies of water. So those who do not have enough Magikarp candies will certainly be able to refill their candy stock.

In Destiny 2, Bungie finally comments on the Solar Week that was discovered in the datamining.

This means: It looks grim that a Solar Week in Destiny 2 will start anytime soon – despite the datamining results.
Either Bungie has scrapped the Solar Week because they need to focus on other things right before the Shadowkeep launch.

Which champions were strengthened by 9.16b? The small patch also comes with some buffs. One affects the champion Gnar, who is already very strong in the shapeshifter combo. Additionally, there were fine adjustments made to Morgana and Aatrox.
Aatrox’s ability damage was adjusted from 250/600/950 to 300/600/900.
Anivia’s health was increased from 650 to 700.
Gnar’s additional attack damage after transformation was significantly increased from 30/60/90 to 50/100/150.
Miss Fortune’s ability damage was increased from 800/1,250/1,700 to 900/1,300/1,700.
Morgana’s armor was increased from 20 to 30. In return, her ability damage was reduced from 200/325/450 to 175/300/425.
Shen’s health was increased from 650 to 700.
Adjustments to Brawlers and Ludens Echo

I can’t use items, what now? Some consumables may not be collectible. This is because they give you more health, for example, but you already have full health.

This is what the Demogorgon can do: The Demogorgon possesses two abilities and is able to travel quickly across the map.
The Demogorgon can place portals on the ground. When standing on one of its portals, it can target another portal and quickly travel to it. Survivors can spend time destroying the portals, but during this time they cannot hear the terror radius and their position is revealed to the killer. Multiple survivors can close the same portal simultaneously.
Additionally, the Demogorgon can perform a small lunge attack. In doing so, it lunges several meters straight ahead and strikes, but cannot change its direction. After a lunge attack, the Demogorgon howls and is briefly incapacitated.
These are the perks of the Demogorgon: As usual, the Demogorgon comes with three unique perks that can also be taught to other killers via the Bloodweb.
Surge: When the killer downs a survivor with a melee attack, all generators within 32 meters explode and begin regressing. Additionally, 12% of their progress is removed. Has a cooldown of 60 / 50 / 40 seconds.
Cruel Confinement: Each time a generator is fully repaired, all windows and climbing opportunities within a radius of 32 meters are blocked for survivors for 25 / 30 / 35 seconds. The blocked windows and climbing opportunities are shown to the killer as an aura.
Mindbreaker: If a survivor is working on a generator that is less than 50% repaired, they become exhausted. Exhaustion remains active until they leave the generator and then for an additional 1 / 2 / 3 seconds. Existing exhaustion timers pause while working on a generator.

These are the perks of Steve Harrington: The new survivor Steve Harrington also comes with three unique perks.
Babysitter: When you rescue a survivor from the hook, they leave no scratch marks or blood trails for 4 / 6 / 8 seconds. Additionally, you and the killer can see each other’s auras for 4 seconds.
Camaraderie: Activates while you are in the struggle phase on the hook. If a survivor comes within a 16-meter radius of the hook, your struggle timer is paused for 10 / 12 / 14 seconds.
Second Wind: After you have healed another survivor to a health state, the perk activates. When the perk is active, the next time you are inflicted with the “Incapacitated” status when rescued from the hook, if you are outside the terror radius, Second Wind passively heals you by up to 100%. The perk deactivates once you are fully healed or downed again. The incapacitated status is then removed.
These are the perks of Nancy Wheeler: Nancy Wheeler also has three unique perks that other survivors can learn.
Better Together: The aura of the generator you are currently working on is revealed to all other survivors within 32 meters. If a survivor is downed while you are working on a generator, you see the aura of every other survivor for 8 / 9 / 10 seconds.
Inner Strength: When you cleanse a totem, the perk activates. When active, hide in a locker while injured to be healed after 8 / 9 / 10 seconds. Inner Strength deactivates after you are healed.
Fixated: You can see your own scratch marks at any time. Additionally, your walking speed (not running!) is increased by 10% / 15% / 20% as long as you are not injured.
When will the characters be released? The “Stranger Things” chapter of Dead by Daylight will be released in September. However, there is still no exact date for the PTR or release.
How do you like the new perks and abilities of the Demogorgon?

I, Jürgen, scored an interview with Matt Firor from ZeniMax at gamescom 2019. He answered my questions on the following topics in nearly 30 minutes.

Mein-MMO: How well have Elsweyr and the Season of the Dragon been received so far?
Matt Firor: Very, very well. We have more players in June 2019 than we had in June 2018. We gained players because Elsweyr was received so well. Old players also returned to see the dragons. It was a great success.
Current Player Numbers for ESO
Mein-MMO: How many registered players does ESO currently have?
Matt Firor: We have 13.5 million registered players. Last year it was 10 million.
Matt Firor: That was also a success. Dungeon DLCs do not necessarily bring new players, but they are multiplayer co-op and that is always well received. PvE players are a large part of our player base. They love dungeons. It is especially for our existing players, who love new challenges and mechanics in hard mode.
Update 23 and Its Consequences

Then we may need to adjust it again. We need to make balancing changes repeatedly and try to keep it so that players do not have to re-spec their characters. But sometimes that is necessary.
Matt Firor: It’s actually starting this year. That is the memory management update in Update 24. That will be very, very important. It changes the way data is stored on each device. It will be much more efficient. Until now, data has just been piled up.
We now want to optimize how this data is retrieved. This will benefit weaker PCs and the Xbox One. There will be fewer system crashes, and the game will run smoother. It’s about stability and making the game run a bit better.
Next comes Update 25 with changes to the client and patching system. The client will be much smaller. Our object library will also be faster, loading times will be much shorter, and the frame rate will be optimized. The next update will then improve things on the server side.
Mein-MMO: But why is all this happening only now?
Matt Firor: We now have more experience, but the game has been expanded so often that the performance has suffered significantly. Therefore, something has to be done, especially now.
What Comes with Dragonhold
Mein-MMO: What can you tell us about Dragonhold, the last DLC of the Season of the Dragon?
Matt Firor: It will go to southern Elsweyr, along with the city of Senchal, which was last seen in Elder Scrolls Arena in 1994. But it will look different now. The southern Elsweyr will look a bit different but feel familiar.

It’s about the Dragon Guard, an ancient order that fights dragons. In a side quest in Elsweyr, you’ll already meet one of them. Together you will hunt the dragons in Dragonhold. The Dragon Guard also appears in the E3 trailer, alongside Sai Sahan.
Mein-MMO: What content can we expect? Are there raids or dungeons?
Matt Firor: No new raid; we just had one in Elsweyr, but I’m not sure if there might be a public dungeon.
Mein-MMO: How big will the area be?
Matt Firor: About the size of Murkmire 2018.
Mein-MMO: Will the Elsweyr story then be concluded?
Matt Firor: The Season of the Dragon will end here. We will do something different next year.
Mein-MMO: What are the plans for next year? Will there be a yearly story again?
Matt Firor: There will be another year-long story arc. That is much better.
Mein-MMO: I’ve noticed that Sai Sahan plays a role in the story of Dragonhold. Even though he was actually sacrificed at the end of the base game. Will it be explained how he rose from the dead? And will other characters from the original story return in that way?
Matt Firor: Does anyone really die in Elder Scrolls? We will explain Sai’s story and his resurrection in more detail. We also looked at who among our players chose to sacrifice Sai, Lyris, or the Prophet. Almost everyone chose the Prophet. He ultimately started everything and is to blame.
We keep bringing back old acquaintances, so it’s possible that you’ll meet such NPCs in the future. We mainly choose characters that players like, and they keep returning, like Razum-dar. That is a strategy we use. If characters are popular, they keep coming back, enhancing the atmosphere.
The Future Brings
Mein-MMO: Can you give me a small hint about the next big thing in ESO? I bet it’s Skyrim.
Matt Firor: I’m not saying anything about that. Stay tuned; it will be really cool, and you’ll like it.
Mein-MMO: ESO already has all the typical MMORPG features, such as housing, pets, story quests, crafting, etc. Is there anything fundamentally new that you want to add?
Matt Firor: Why? It works the way it is. One reviewer brilliantly summed it up: “The whole game is the endgame.”
Mein-MMO: At least one person who said that back then. I phrased it that way in an article about One Tamriel. So you are satisfied with the features in the game and don’t want to reinvent the wheel? So not like WoW, which tries to introduce something completely new every time?
Matt Firor: We are not afraid to change things or take risks. We last did that with One Tamriel. But yes, players like what we are currently doing, so we keep going.
Mein-MMO: So more of the same, but good? Like a burger restaurant that only offers burgers but different kinds?
Matt Firor: Exactly. We expand the menu, keep it fresh, but will not radically change the selection. And honestly, the system optimization is a radically different thing for us internally.
ESO and Google Stadia
Mein-MMO: Okay, but one more thing: When Google Stadia’s game lineup was announced, ESO was also included. I think that’s great, but only if I can use my existing PC account and play with other PC players. What is the current status on this?
Matt Firor: What I can already say is: Stadia players play on PC servers. It should therefore be crossplay between PC, Mac, and Stadia. I can’t say anything yet about account connections.
Mein-MMO: But that last part would be important. I have been playing ESO since the beta and really don’t want to start over.
Matt Firor: Yes, I understand that, and we will do everything to make this possible, but we also don’t know yet if and how this can be realized. I also don’t want to raise false hopes.
But ESO will come to Stadia in 2020, and there is still time until then. But this is really very, very complicated. There are still many questions to clarify.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Alpha – the start time
When does it start exactly? The Modern Warfare Alpha was supposed to start on August 23 at 7:00 PM German time (6 PM BST). However, the servers are surprisingly already live. Those who have already downloaded the alpha can get started right away. The alpha test runs until August 25.
How can I play the Modern Warfare Alpha?
On which platforms can the Modern Warfare Alpha be played? The alpha is exclusively reserved for PlayStation 4. Players on PC and Xbox One cannot participate. However, anyone over 18 years old can join on PS4.
Is PS Plus required for the Modern Warfare 2vs2 Alpha? Officially, it was stated that the 2vs2 alpha of Modern Warfare can be downloaded and played completely without PS Plus.
That is indeed the case – except for Germany. According to numerous player reports here, contrary to the official information, a PS Plus membership is required. Otherwise, you cannot download the alpha.

What happened? On the night of August 23, 2019, the team at Epic Games made some changes in Fortnite. These mainly affect the balance of the mechs. In recent weeks, players and streamers complained loudly that the new mech vehicles, introduced in Season X, were far too powerful.

What else does the patch change? The item “Scrap Rift” has been temporarily removed from the arena modes due to an audio bug.
Why is Epic doing this?
More fairness: The patch notes state that Epic wants to balance the combat experience between players using mechs and those without. With slower rockets, players now have more time to dodge.
With a lower explosion radius, mechs should still be strong against buildings, but weaker against individual, mobile players.
