This topic has sparked many heated discussions in the Dead by Daylight subreddit, but now the developers have spoken. The matchmaking is to be fundamentally rebuilt. The rank will no longer play a role; instead, there will be a hidden skill rating.
What is currently the problem? Basically, Dead by Daylight tries to create matches that consider a balanced weighting of three factors. These are:
Wait time
Fairness (skill of the opponent and teammates)
Latency (ping to the server)
Additionally, there is a fourth factor, namely the appropriate distribution of players across roles. In an ideal world, there would always be four survivors for one killer. Whenever emphasis is placed on one aspect, such as a shorter wait time, the other factors like fairness and ping will suffer.
However, the biggest problem is fairness, as killers and survivors have very different roles and tasks in Dead by Daylight. It is almost impossible to compare them directly. In the past, this was attempted through ranks and emblems, but here the developers say:
We have concluded that rank does not necessarily correspond with skill.While a player who plays a lot will usually be better than someone who plays little, there are also some players who are very good but do not play enough to achieve a high rank.
Much time means a high rank: Basically, it can be said in Dead by Daylight that players automatically rank up if they just play enough. Survivors have it a bit easier than killers, but generally, both roles keep ranking up as long as they invest enough time – regardless of the actual skill of the players. Conversely, this also means that extremely good players who play very little will always have a low rank.
What will change? In an upcoming patch, Dead by Daylight plans to implement a “hidden” skill rating. This will not be visible to players and will match them against others with a similar skill. It will resemble other MMR systems, such as those found in shooters or MOBAs.
The system will be tested first and will provide each player with a skill rating for killers and survivors. In the future, the developers want to introduce individual skill ratings for each killer. This way, experienced players can try out a new killer without immediately having to fear that they will have no chance.
When will the changes come? The changes will still take a while. With the release of the next mid-chapter patch (about in 10 weeks, around April), Dead by Daylight will begin to record and evaluate player skill ratings. However, placement based on this rating will not occur yet. They want to collect more data first.
What role will the rank have then? Once the changes are all live, the rank will essentially be of no use anymore. It can still be regarded as a personal goal or needed to unlock certain achievements. However, it will then have no more evaluation in matchmaking. It will no longer be displayed at the end of a match.

Beta starts today – Here’s what you need to know
When does the beta start? Disintegration starts today, January 28th, in closed beta. Only players who have previously registered on the game’s website (via disintegrationgame) and have been selected can participate in the closed beta.
However, other players will not have to wait long. The open beta starts on January 31st, and everyone interested can participate.

How does the multiplayer work? There are 3 modes in multiplayer. One mode is already known.
“Retrieval”, in this mode, you control your commander and have a small team of NPCs at your disposal. In a 5 vs. 5 matchup, you compete against each other to place a bomb in the enemy base and blow it up.
Is it an alternative to Bungie’s games? It is still too early to predict whether Disintegration will be a true alternative to Destiny and Halo.
Disintegration is currently interesting because someone with experience in Destiny and Halo has worked on it. He knows what matters in such a game.

Ninja wants to return to the competitive scene of Fortnite: The streamer Ninja has been involved since the beginning of Fortnite (2017). The first Fortnite tournament was even won by Ninja.
The streamer tries multiple times to steal his opponent’s wall. He destroys it with his pickaxe and then tries to place his own wall as quickly as possible.
When he places his own wall, he can edit it himself, confusing the opponent and making a good shot.
After several failed attempts, Ninja angrily calls out:
“Can we talk about the fact that I can’t steal walls?! It’s so ridiculous! If I don’t have a P90, I will lose to every good player because I can’t steal anything.”
He states that the biggest problem is that he can’t steal anything from the players whose walls he should be stealing.
Stealing walls is important in Fortnite
Why is this gameplay tactic so important? Whoever can trap an opponent in a box has a clear advantage. He can edit the stolen wall and shoot the opponent.
The opponent can’t escape easily and must dodge the shots or make a good counter. That’s why Ninja thinks this is the only tactic he lacks in order to compete against the professionals.
Tonight, on January 28th, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare brings a playlist update with new content for players. There will be changes to 3 modes and this time 2 new ones will be included. With tonight’s playlist update, on January 28th, the shooter introduces 2 new modes into the rotation that have not been seen in Modern Warfare before.
One of these modes is a mix of 2 of the most popular modes ever. Infinity Ward apparently wants to make all players happy with this.

What does today’s playlist update bring? A total of 3 modes are being swapped. Last week there was no playlist update on Tuesday, as the new Update 1.13 was released on Wednesday.
What is Deathmatch Domination? This mode is new to Modern Warfare and mixes two of the most popular game modes with respawn – Domination and Team Deathmatch.
How does Modern Warfare want to make everyone happy with this? You need to hold the flags while also earning points for kills. The mode caters to 2 different types of players and should appeal to both Run & Gunners and players with a more methodical playstyle.
While the sprinters can go hunting, the calmer players stay close to the points and defend their position against incoming enemies.
What does the 2vs2 mode do differently? Gunfight returns in its usual size and will be a 4-player mode again. But the usual gunfight will not be present.
With this variant, you can assemble your loadouts yourself. Until now, you received random weapons and gear or could pick up weapons lying around at the start. But now you’ll play with your own loadouts, tailored to your preferences.

Shipment 24/7? Again? The 24/7 modes have apparently their own rotation now and regularly switch between “Shoot or Ship, whatever”, “Shoot House 24/7” and “Shipment 24/7”.
The constant loop on the relatively small maps is popular among players and there have been significant protests when the small maps disappear from the rotation.
Shipment especially provides the best conditions for leveling weapons and accumulating experience points. Last week the extended Season 1 activated Double XP for all players. If you still have Battle Pass levels open or want to level a weapon, play the 24/7 rotations on the small maps. It’s worth it.
Shipment has been a constant since the start of Season 1 and is extremely stressful. Players love it.
The mode players wish for Season 2
With the new mode, Modern Warfare brings fresh air into the playlist, but some players are waiting for another mode that won’t be added quickly to the playlist – Battle Royale.
How likely is a release with Season 2? A leaker mentioned a few days ago that he sees clear indications of a release with Season 2. Whether that will happen remains to be seen. But the hints are becoming stronger.

However, there is no certainty that Forge is really dead. After all, many abilities and details about the character have been found through data mining.

A new boss is here: Just in time for the start of the new activity, a new boss will join the Sundial. The fourth and final Psion Flayer is named “Inotam, the Threefold Forgetting.”
Whether the boss will be a combination of the three original Psions or stands on its own can only be speculated at this time. At least the nickname “Threefold Forgetting” suggests speculation about some kind of fusion or a best-of Flayer.
The three Psions are sisters – how Inotam fits into the family relationship will be revealed on 2/4.
This is what we know about quests: Currently, quests that are linked to the Empyrean Foundation can already be found in the Light.gg database.
