Here’s the current situation regarding the egg pool: It almost seems like Niantic has forgotten the egg pool. For months there has been no rotation, and you feel like you only get 5 different monsters from the eggs.
I haven’t been actively hatching eggs for a while now; I just let the infinite incubator run. When I have 9 10-km- eggs in my inventory, I do use the bought incubators, but I still get frustrated with the contents.
In my opinion, there are primarily 3 reasons why the egg pool is currently so poor and urgently needs a revision.
Reason 1: Nothing has changed for months
The basic egg pool has remained the same since the beginning of the year. Since then, some new Pokémon from Gen 5 have been added here and there, but you can almost count them on one hand.
The adjustments to the egg pool have not been very significant; Niantic stated at the end of December 2019 that they had made larger adjustments.
Since then, you find the same monsters in the eggs, which is pretty disappointing. In any case, the Pokémon you get from the eggs are mostly not useful, but at least I would appreciate a bit of variety.

David Verfaillie: The AI is intentionally kept simple in the early game. Many players coming to New World will encounter an action combat system for the first time. Therefore, we want to provide players with only a slight increase in difficulty at the beginning so they can learn the controls and tactics for the combat system. We want the challenge to increase more in the mid-game and again in the end-game.
During the preview, we were amazed at how quickly players became experts. There is definitely still more room for us to make the AI harder in terms of behavior and numbers.

These currently consist of killing mobs and opening chests.
