Who can participate in the event? The event is aimed at new players who have not yet had an account for the MMORPG BDO and simply want to try the trial. Additionally, the event is for guest access. Here’s how it works: On reddit , player Automaton17 warns that a chat command is exploitable in battlegrounds. With mind control, one can dictate how fast players turn.
A priest uses mind control on an opponent
While the spell is active, they enter a command for “turnspeed”
When the mind control ends, the altered turnspeed value set by the priest remains
The speed can be set to any conceivable value. 0, so players can no longer turn at all or high values like 3,000, so one spins around like crazy at the slightest touch of the turning key
This mainly affects the so-called “keyboard turners”. Players who turn their character left or right with keys like A and D.
As players report, this is supposed to not persist after logging out. After logging in again, the actual values for the turn speed should be automatically restored.
What can you do about it? By logging out and logging back in, you regain your old values for turning the character.
If you don’t want to log out, you can also enter a command in the chat to restore the default value.

The German Twitch community has created a server for the survival MMO Rust. An incident occurred there on Saturday: A female streamer was sexually harassed. This led to a conflict on Twitter that continued to escalate. German-speaking streamers like Handofblood, Lara Loft, Tinkerleo, Shurjoka, or fisHC0p have come under fire from a trolling network.
This was the original conflict: On Saturday evening, the German Twitch event for Rust started. The streamer Tinkerleo was asked by another streamer: “Do you want to sit on my face?”
The incident itself was quickly resolved: The streamer apologized for his inappropriate comment. That was not okay. The streamer was banned from the Rust server for one day.
But the incident triggered a heated discussion on Twitter:
Some spoke up: The female streamer shouldn’t be so sensitive. In gaming, people talk like that. She was ruining the fun with her behavior – anyone who puts themselves out there on the internet has to deal with it.
The biggest German streamer MontanaBlack took the incident as a joke.
Yet many players on Twitter supported the female streamer, saying that such behavior is simply unacceptable. There is nothing funny about it. That is sexual harassment.
Some big streamers also took a stand, first and foremost the German influencer Handofblood, even though he was not involved in the Rust event. Handofblood said: We need to discuss this openly and take a stand.
Sexual harassment is a part of gaming life, and it must stop: “We find girls really cool and unfortunately regularly see that they are harassed and disadvantaged.”

What I would like to see are animals in the water: crocodiles, sharks, maybe a whale or dolphins. I would love to fry up a dolphin steak and craft a dolphin suit.
How newcomers fare in Rust
MeinMMO: You often help newcomers in the game. What motivates you to help them?
DaSepp: When I started, I didn’t know anything either; learning everything was hard and took time. At first, you’re always the fool. With my knowledge, I’m always happy to help. There are no “freebies,” you want the newcomers to learn something and stay true to Rust. Just killing “bambis” is no challenge.
Rust is only peaceful at the beginning when you start new and wake up on the beach.
MeinMMO: How hard is it to start with Rust? Do you need survival experience?
DaSepp: It’s not easy, but you don’t need any experience. Knowing how a survival game works in general is beneficial.
But to say now: I have 3,000 hours in DayZ, ARK, or Conan Exiles does not mean that you can play Rust too. Rust is different, you don’t know at first how it works. Watch videos on YouTube, turn on your brain, and learn from mistakes.
MeinMMO: Where do newcomers find other players/groups?
But always be cautious; the average Rust player is a jerk: be careful who you trust and talk to potential teammates beforehand. Don’t get too upset if someone messes with you; it’s just a game.

DaSepp: Rust is not a game for casuals. Sure, there are mod servers where you don’t have to pay maintenance costs for the base and play with more loot.
For solo players on a full server, you really need to play 6 to 8 hours a day, otherwise you can’t keep up. Smaller groups don’t play much less per day either.

DaSepp: Sure, I prefer to do it that way! I have played about 4,000 of my over 5,000 hours alone. You can play how you want, don’t have to take anyone into account, no one annoys you, and it’s a challenge, but also not a walk in the park.
MeinMMO: How do you accumulate so many hours, and what keeps you motivated?
DaSepp: I have been playing Rust for years now. Except for wipe ends, I rarely play another game. Occasionally, maybe 7 Days To Die or Football Manager. Over the years, that’s not really that many hours. It’s centered around one game.

Since the end of 2020, Rust has been experiencing a hype on Steam and Twitch. MeinMMO interviewed a Rust veteran and asked him if the current hype around the survival game is annoying or beneficial and if motivation doesn’t eventually wane after 5,000 hours.
Rust has a strong focus on PvP, and newcomers often have a hard time getting into the game. After new record numbers on Steam in January 2021, many beginners are on the servers and do not know how to survive on Rust Island.
Who did we interview? MeinMMO spoke with “DaSepp” and asked him what fascinates him about Rust, what advice he gives to beginners, and if monthly wipes ever get annoying. He himself is over 30, a passionate Rust player, and helps newcomers take their first steps in Rust.
Rust offers plenty of freedom
MeinMMO: When did you start playing Rust and what has your journey been like?
DaSepp: That must be around 5 years ago now. I had previously played Reign of Kings, but the devs messed it up and then stopped working on it.
A buddy of mine then started Rust, and I joined him. Two total noobs, it was a rocky start.
MeinMMO: Why Rust? What makes it better than other survival games?
DaSepp: The devs play a big role. Rust has been worked on since the beginning of beta. Every month a new update comes out, either with new content or performance improvements. What is important to me are the forced wipes: at the latest after a month, everyone starts from scratch again and has a new chance, which is also better for newcomers.
Rust gives you the opportunity to play the game as you want: you can walk around all day, clap people, or you can build yourself a roleplayer hut with a farm, swimming pool, and play the piano. The possibilities are endless.
“Only farming gets boring over time”
MeinMMO: Which mode do you enjoy playing the most and why? (PvP or PvE)
DaSepp: Clearly PvP! Even if I sometimes like to have my peace, PvE becomes very boring quite quickly. I need the thrill, the pressure, the challenge. I’m not farming all the time just so I can’t slap my booms (C4) on some base.
MeinMMO: How big is the problem with griefers in Rust?
DaSepp: In Rust, you can do a lot against griefers and give them little chance: build smart, set traps, don’t engage with people you don’t know. And if someone does grief you, you can see what you could do better next time. And best to ignore it; if they don’t get a reaction, they’ll get bored. So I would say Rust doesn’t have a griefer problem. If you don’t allow it, others can hardly influence your game.
MeinMMO: What do you enjoy doing in Rust the most? (Base Building, Exploring / Looting, Raids, or something else)
DaSepp: Well, I’m a lazy base builder; I’m happy when I play with someone who likes doing it.
Base building in Rust can take a lot of time.
However, I have no problem with doing the electrical work, building garages, or setting up a farm. I enjoy looting and exploring the world the most. But I also spend a lot of time farming.
If you don’t do it yourself, no one else will. Raiding is of course always the highlight you work towards. Farming enough booms (C4) to take down the clan that has been annoying you all wipe.
Regular wipes are only advantageous
MeinMMO: What are the pros and cons of regular wipes?
DaSepp: The advantages, from my perspective, are:
Performance
Everyone has the same chance again, a messed-up wipe is invalid, and you can rewrite history
It doesn’t get boring; sooner or later you’ll be sitting on chests full of loot, have a mega base, and raided all your neighbors, and then you won’t know what to do next
A new map, because Rust has thousands of map seeds; you almost always start on a new one
