In Pokémon GO starts today, February 21, the Kanto Event. This brings new spawns, raids, and a special research. We show you all the info and rewards.
What kind of event is this? Right after the big Kanto Tour last Saturday, Niantic is starting the next event, which revolves around the Pokémon of the first generation.
The Kanto Event runs from February 21 at 10:00 AM to February 27 at 8:00 PM local time. So you have a few more days to complete the research from the Kanto Tour. Spawns, current raids, and egg changes will help you with that.
A special research will bring you more rare Pokémon.
Spawns, current raids, and learnable moves
The new spawns: In the wild you will encounter Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Caterpie, Pikachu, Geodude, Clefairy, Psyduck, Slowpoke, Gastly, Voltorb, and Magikarp.
If you activate a smoke module while playing, you will also encounter the following Pokémon: Weedle, Pidgey, Spearow, Psyduck, Abra, Poliwag, Machop, Krabby, Swinub, Seadra, and Goldeen.
How eggs change: From the 5 km eggs, you can hatch, among others, these Pokémon: Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Tangela, Dratini, Pichu, Elekid, and Magby. Keep in mind that this applies to 5 km eggs that you have newly received after the start of the event. Existing 5 km eggs in your inventory do not suddenly change their contents.
You have more chances to catch Mewtwo now
Who is in current raids? After you could encounter regional Kanto Pokémon in raids yesterday, the selection for the Kanto Event now looks different:
During the event, you have the chance to teach selected Pokémon moves that could be learned during community days. If you missed the events in the past, this is a good opportunity to secure those moves now.
If you evolve Ivysaur into Venusaur, it learns the move Flora Statue
If you evolve Charmeleon into Charizard, it learns the move Flame Burst
If you evolve Wartortle into Blastoise, it learns the move Hydro Cannon
If you evolve Pichu into Pikachu, it learns the move Surf
In line with the event, Niantic activates a new special research for you that you can complete. Trainers have already gathered the tasks and rewards because they could solve the tasks due to time differences in other countries.

Moreover, Diablo 2 offers cross-progression. For example, those who play on the Switch can continue playing on the go and then switch to another platform of their choice at home. Mobile gaming is becoming increasingly relevant, and this implementation is at least a step towards modernity.
Another major plus is the new look of Diablo 2 Resurrected. The remake can be played with revised 3D graphics and even in 4K resolution. It has nothing in common with the old sprites and pixelated look.
For purists, this may be negligible, but younger gamers are simply used to better graphics. Not everyone can get something out of an old game, no matter how much fun it is. It’s no coincidence that retro games are rather niche.
However, with the remaster, Diablo 2 can easily compete with the actually newer Diablo 3. Whether the new look is “contemporary” can be debated. At least it is significantly more appealing to graphics fetishists than the version from 2000.
By the way: Anyone who wants to play the remaster and still wants the retro flair can switch at any time. Diablo 2 Resurrected offers the option to switch between old and new graphics at will.
Diablo 2 Resurrected has a lot to offer visually.
Not just nostalgia, but a piece of video game history
How important was Diablo 2: What is the actual reason for the desire for Diablo 2, at least for me, is its significance. Diablo 2 was and is considered a milestone in ARPG history. Many later games in the genre have followed the model of Diablo 2.
Diablo 2 received several awards and was even included in the Guinness World Records in its release year 2000 as the fastest selling computer game of all time. However, it has since been surpassed multiple times.
Nevertheless, the game served as inspiration for many modern ARPGs that would likely not have been as successful without Diablo 2. Path of Exile, for example, appeals to the same players with its visuals and mechanics, while Magic: Legends is set to be released in 2021 as a new hack ‘n’ slash with its own ideas and the fundamental principle of Diablo.
At the same time, the Diablo series has always been somehow special. No other ARPG has managed to convey the dark, brutal, and bloody Gothic flair as well. Many have not even tried it for this reason.
The Diablo series is known for its dark worlds, and in my opinion, Diablo 2 does this better than Diablo 3.
Is it worth playing Diablo 2? Subjectively: Yes. Even though the game is priced at 40 €, it will be worth it to me. I want to experience and find out why so many players are incredibly fascinated by Diablo 2.
For anyone who hasn’t played Diablo 2 so far, it is probably the same for me. Anyone interested in ARPGs should not miss out on Resurrected, because the excitement for the game must come from somewhere.
In the interview at BlizzCon 2021 with Twitch streamer and Diablo 2 player MrLlamaSC, he mentioned that he still prefers to play Diablo 2 over Diablo 3. Accordingly, there should also be quite a few nostalgic players who simply want to see the game once again – just with better features like global servers.
A major plus is also that Diablo 2 is easier to play with friends in the remaster. In 2000, internet connections were not as widespread as they are today. Now, with Resurrected, online co-op will be much easier to implement. In our article, you can find more about the gameplay and co-op of Diablo 2 Resurrected.
Not a mistake like Warcraft 3, but professionals at work
Who is making Diablo 2 Resurrected? The developers who are dedicated to the Diablo 2 remaster are Vicarious Visions. They had previously worked on the remasters of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2.
These games were well-received and apparently hit exactly the nerves that players had hoped for from a remaster. The spirit of the games remained, and new features and graphics rounded out the gaming experience.
Accordingly, the hope is high – also for me – that Resurrected will also be a hit. Especially since Blizzard itself has handled the last remaster of Warcraft 3 rather poorly.
Why is this a good thing? In early 2020, Warcraft 3 Reforged was released. Although many strategy game fans were looking forward to the remake due to the lack of Warcraft 4, the project left a bitter aftertaste.
Warcraft 3 Reforged was a nightmare, especially for multiplayer games. Some of the expected and sometimes necessary features like leaderboards were missing. The performance also wasn’t quite what fans had expected from Reforged.
Players were extremely angry with Blizzard at the time regarding the remaster, and parts of the community are probably still skeptical about remakes because of this.
However, Diablo 2 seems to be able to take a different approach here. The team is completely different, and the head of Diablo himself says that the disaster surrounding Warcraft 3 was before his time. Diablo 2 Resurrected distances itself from the Reforged disaster – whether it can deliver remains to be seen. I look forward to it!
By the way: Anyone who wants to play the remaster and still wants the retro flair can switch at any time. Diablo 2 Resurrected offers the option to switch between old and new graphics at will.

Blizzard promised a remaster of the ARPG classic Diablo 2 as a big announcement at BlizzCon 2021. This excited many people, even those who have never played the original game. One of them is MeinMMO author Benedict Grothaus. Why does a 21-year-old game draw such great interest?
Despite the aversion of many viewers towards remasters and classic versions, Diablo 2 is actually the topic that is most positively discussed, for example here on MeinMMO. The remarkable thing is that nostalgia is not even the reason for this.

The trailer for Resurrected really gets me excited…
Many interested parties who have never had anything to do with Diablo 2 are looking forward to Resurrected. I am one of them. Although I enjoy playing hack ‘n’ slays in between, Diablo 2 could never captivate me back in the day. I was somehow too busy with other games.
Like many Diablo players today, my entry point only came with Diablo 3, which captivated and excited me. To this day, I have certainly accumulated several hundred hours on numerous demon hunters.
Since I found Diablo 3 so good, it surprised me back then that so many players preferred Diablo 2. This seems to be the case even today, and many new players share my interest in the predecessor. How does that happen?
Diablo 2 first on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch
This is what Diablo 2 Resurrected brings: One of the biggest plus points for the remaster is likely that Diablo 2 is coming to more platforms with Resurrected. The original title was only playable on PC and Mac. Resurrected will be available for:
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One
Nintendo Switch
PC (Windows)
Since Diablo 3 has already been released as a console version, there is likely already a large number of players who are interested in the predecessor. Anyone who started the series on PlayStation or Xbox is certainly interested in the roots of the ARPG.
The developers are working on making the controller controls for the remaster good.
Who is Diablo 2 aimed at? The developers themselves have already said that Resurrected aims to attract people who were born after the release of Diablo 2. Of course, anyone who is now 20 or like me is around 28 had little to do with Diablo in their childhood.
Furthermore, the controls of Diablo 3 with the controller are repeatedly praised. Apparently, hack ‘n’ slays play very well with a gamepad; why not Diablo 2 as well? Playing on the couch is simply more comfortable than sitting in a chair in front of the PC.
Accordingly, the hope is high – also for me – that Resurrected will also be a hit. Especially since Blizzard itself has handled the last remaster of Warcraft 3 rather poorly.

19:00: Fireworks appear on the screen, signaling the end of the Pokémon League hour and, thus, the end of most of the Kanto Tour.
The confetti has been replaced by fireworks
18:40: A little reminder – in the shop there was a box with 200 Pokéballs for the event if you have a ticket. If you haven’t picked it up yet because, for example, your inventory was too full, you should do this before the event ends. Otherwise, you will end up missing out on 200 balls.

17:50: 10 more minutes, then we’ll leave Fuchsia City behind us and move on towards the Pokémon League. It’s also getting dark outside, which fits with the “Victory Road”, through which one had to battle to get to the league.
17:30: Have you completed the Kanto special research by now? Then you should now have received the masterpiece challenge regarding Shiny Mew. But it’s already clear: you definitely won’t finish that today. After all, you need to send 151 gifts to friends – and that’s just part of the first task! More info about Shiny Mew can be found here.
Hardly is the Kanto research over, the professor sends you off again.
17:00: And that’s it for the water monsters! Now we go back to Fuchsia City, to Bluzuk, Owei, Ponita & Co.! Remember to grab the missing monsters for the collector’s task.
16:30: Now Azuria City is nearing its end, which brings me to the question: what about Lavender Town? It would have been a good fit for ghost Pokémon. On the other hand: probably the background music was just too creepy!
16:00: Two hours in Marmoria City, and somehow I’ve managed to not find a single Geodude. So the collector’s task will likely remain unfulfilled for now. Have you been successful in collecting so far? If not: from 19:00, all Pokémon from the day will appear again, so there’s a chance if you’re still missing some monsters. Now, however, we are going back to the water city Azuria City.
15:24: As part of the research, you will also need to complete some raids. It’s best to save a few passes for this. The legendary raids are hard to complete with few trainers – but there are currently also regional monsters in raids that serve as good targets.
15:00: Time for the next destination, back to Marmoria City. If you need any rock monsters, this is the opportunity!
These monsters need to be collected
14:37: Quick tip if you’re currently in special research step 5/8: Remember to consistently throw berries. I made the beginner’s mistake and only think about it every 5th monster (roughly estimated).
14:18: Let’s do a brief technical interim conclusion: The frustration about the ticket issue has somewhat marred the morning but hopefully won’t be a factor in the afternoon anymore. The servers held up – let’s see what it looks like when the other time zones join in.
14:00: 5 hours are up, and thus half of the event. Now we are going back to the starting point, to Alabastia. Here, you can now catch everything that is still missing from the collector’s task. In my case, that’s a Rattata. How ironic – back in the day, you could hardly escape from those little beasts!
13:04: Let’s take a quick look at the special research of the Kanto Tour. While live-ticking, one hardly has time to play, but I am now at step 4/8. And there are a few tasks involving friends – both sending gifts and trading Pokémon are planned.
Keep in mind that the trading distance is currently increased, so you don’t necessarily have to play directly with friends. And if you are looking for friends for gifts, you might want to check out the Facebook group for Pokémon GO! In the announcements, you’ll find a collection post for friend requests where you can post and find friend codes.
13:00: So folks, the last hour with new spawns: We are heading into the Pokémon League! And there you need to catch the following monsters:
Machop
Seel
Doduo
Magikarp
Hitmonlee
Hitmonchan
Roselia
Eevee
Porygon
Dratini
12:23: It’s quite impressive: one of the GO challengers has apparently fully embraced the Pikachu theme. Pikachu overalls, Pikachu mask, and a team with a flying Pikachu, a normal Pikachu, and a disguised Pikachu. That would score a clear 10/10 for the concept – if it weren’t for his name: “juanevoli”. Close but no cigar! Have you defeated the challengers yet?
I would have expected “Juanpikachu”
12:17: By the way: not only can smoke bring you Pokémon encounters, but also the snapshot feature. Throw in a snapshot every now and then to secure, for instance, a Snorlax!
12:05: Nice side effect – if you’ve been stuck on the “More on Meltan” research for ages because Kabuto and Omanyte had disappeared into oblivion, you can finish it well today!
12:00: So, after the last hour roughly brought 800 Magikarp candies, we are now moving on to Fuchsia City! There we have the following selection of Pokémon to catch:
Bluzuk
Abra
Poniard
Spoink
Gastly
Trapinch
Owei
Grimer
Omanyte
Kabuto
11:28: If you haven’t noticed yet – Magikarp currently gives you 40 candies at once when you catch it. With a raspberry, it gives you even 80! This means: theoretically, you could get enough candies for a Gyarados within five throws!
With berries, you can get 80 candies in one go
11:15: By the way: Always remember to have a smoke active when you play. You have chances for special Shinys from your chosen edition there!
Shinys like Myrapla can secure you today
11:00: End of Marmoria City, moving on to Azuria. There, we remember, we had to fight our way through a gym that was basically just a swimming pool. At the end awaited Misty with her water monsters – and they are now also part of the collector task:
Pidgey
Psychic
Quapsel
Tentacool
Clamperl
Krabby
Seadra
Goldeen
Staryu
Magikarp
Team Selection Problem Likely Resolved – Restart the App
10:42: As Niantic support announced on Twitter, the problem for players without a ticket should have been resolved (see entry at 09:50). Players should now be able to access their tasks and challenges as usual. If there are further problems, support recommends restarting the app.

10:30: As part of the Kanto Tour, you need to defeat so-called GO Tour challengers. These are Pokémon trainer NPCs you can currently meet at PokéStops. They look something like this:
This is what the GO challengers look like
10:00: Now we continue within the Kanto Tour to Marmoria City. Here you would meet Gym Leader Brock and would be quite lost if you chose Charmander as your starter. Now the collection of the following monsters is the focus:
Nidoran
Clefairy
Paras
Diglett
Geodude
Magneton
Onix
Voltorb
Rhyhorn
Pokémon GO: Ticket Error for the Kanto Tour
09:50: Currently, several trainers are reporting issues regarding the ticket. Some players reported getting a ticket without having purchased one. Other players, who also do not have a ticket, explained that they currently cannot access their normal daily tasks because they see the version selection for the event, as shown in this example:
A solution for the above problem is currently still pending; we will keep you updated here.
Previously, Niantic had announced that “issues with the ticket” would be addressed (see ticker entry at 08:27). They have since announced that there will be a bonus event for ticket holders at a later time:

09:30: For the collector challenge in Alabastia, you should also check now that you catch the right monsters. You need:
Bulbasaur
Charmander
Squirtle
Weedle
Caterpie
Pidgey
Rattata
Spearrow
Pikachu
Zubat
At 10:00 the Kanto Tour continues in Marmoria City, then Alabastia will take a break for a while. There will be a second chance later.
09:25: This entire classic game music is making me quite nostalgic. It reminds me of how my six-year-old self trained his Charmander on the Gameboy and replaced “Ember” with “Silver Wink” because it sounded like a cool attack. A big mistake, good times. So, tip: Turn the music up, it’s fun.
09:09: If you look around, you will already find raids without end on the gyms. There are also the regional monsters like Kangaskhan, Mr. Mime, Tauros, or Porygon appearing right away. But: Mewtwo is also already there. Guess a raid pass will be used up.
The powerful raid opponents are already here
09:00: Let’s go, the Kanto Tour has started. We are embarking on the start of our journey. As before, we start in Alabastia, and the game music has already adapted. Normally, you would go to the professor now and choose your starter. But you can see: They are appearing in the wilderness anyway. My starter will probably be Squirtle!
08:33: If you are participating in the Kanto Tour, you will receive a special research task to complete! Here in the ticker, we want to avoid spoilers as much as possible, but if you want to know what tasks and rewards await you: Here you can find everything about the Kanto special research in Pokémon GO.
Problems with the Kanto Tour in Pokémon GO
08:27: While the Kanto Tour is just about to begin in a good half-hour, players in other time zones have already started. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been smooth everywhere: Server issues partially affected the app, and the GBL was temporarily disabled.

Such issues have been familiar from the GO Fest 2020, where there were similar difficulties. Some players are also reporting getting a free ticket for the Kanto Tour due to an error. In this instance, Niantic support also made a statement:

08:08: Just over an hour left, then we will really get started. Let’s take a look at the schedule: The Kanto Tour takes us through different cities and places of the classic Pokémon world.
9 AM to 10 AM: Alabastia
10 AM to 11 AM: Marmoria City
11 AM to 12 PM: Azuria City
12 PM to 1 PM: Fuchsia City
1 PM to 2 PM: Pokémon League
2 PM to 3 PM: Alabastia
3 PM to 4 PM: Marmoria City
4 PM to 5 PM: Azuria City
5 PM to 6 PM: Fuchsia City
6 PM to 7 PM: Pokémon League
7 PM to 9 PM: Pokémon from all previous hours
I am personally looking forward to the Pokémon League! Hopefully, there will be strong monsters to catch here. But until then, it’s a long way and at 09:00 we will first start – as before – in Alabastia. That probably means: Rattata, Pidgey, watch out!
08:00: Good morning! Lace up your shoes and turn your trainer cap to combat mode, because today is the Kanto Tour! This means: Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and all the others are once again out on our screens.
The classic monsters will all appear today in some form – except perhaps for Mew, which will have its own special research task. However, to complete that, we will need to solve another research task during the event and collect Pokémon properly. So we need to stay alert!
The version decides on the spawns
Important: You need to choose a version of the tour – Red or Green. This determines, among other things, which Shinys you can get and which monsters will spawn more frequently. If you know other Pokémon players, maybe make arrangements – then trades are possible.
Here you can see the special monsters in each edition
Especially important: Always pay attention to your surroundings outside and adhere to the pandemic-related guidelines. Given the increased trade range and with items like incense, the Kanto Tour should also be well playable from home.
With Patch 9.1, you can finally fly in WoW! However, not in the place you probably would have preferred to do so.
At BlizzCon 2021, the BlizzConline, a lot of content was presented for the upcoming Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination for World of Warcraft. Flying was also a topic, and Blizzard confirmed that they will stick to the old plans. Flying will be unlocked in Patch 9.1, and it will be simpler than it was in previous expansions. We’ll reveal what that means – and what cool mounts you will get.
How will flying be unlocked? The unlocking of flying will not occur through a reputation grind or similar, but through the renown system of the covenant. As you increase your reputation and play the new chapters of the campaign that lead you to the new area of Korthia, you will unlock the flying ability all on your own.
It is to be expected that there will again be an unlocking over the course of several weeks, just as has been the case in the current campaign. So it is expected to take a few weeks after the release of Patch 9.1 until flying is finally available.
Flying is coming in Patch 9.1 – finally taking off in the Shadowlands!
Can you fly everywhere? No. The flying ability in the Shadowlands is limited to the four realms of the covenants. You can fly in Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth.
However, you cannot fly in the Maw and therefore not in the new subzone Korthia. The entire gameplay of the Maw is not designed for players to fly here.
However, there is still good news. During the campaign, you will be able to unlock the ability to use your usual mounts in the Maw. Currently, only two mounts that are quite difficult to obtain can do this. Soon you will be able to use all mounts again.
The Maw looks uninviting – you can’t fly here.
When can you fly? That is still unclear. Currently, there is no release date for Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination. Currently, the mini-patch 9.0.5 is being tested on the PTR. Until that is completed, the next update cannot be implemented.
Since Patch 9.0.5 is supposed to be released in March, you should plan for another four to six weeks after that before a release can be cautiously aimed for – that would then be sometime between the end of April and the end of May.
More about WoW: Shadowlands and Patch 9.1 can be found here:
What does flying bring? Essentially, flying will drastically speed up many daily tasks. You can quickly cover the various world quests and rare enemies.
Especially for secondary characters, this could also be lucrative, as they can already fly during the leveling phase. Since the unlocking will be account-wide, you can start flying on smaller characters as soon as you enter the Shadowlands, thereby speeding up the leveling phase significantly.
Lastly, flying is a blessing for everyone who loves to farm herbs and ores. With a flying mount, the next ore or flower is only a few seconds away, and annoying enemies can simply be flown over.
Are you already looking forward to finally being able to fly in the Shadowlands? Or was that unnecessary?

On Friday, February 19, the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2021 took place. There, Blizzard presented many new announcements regarding their various franchises. We asked you how you found the opening, and most of you were not satisfied with it. What is the reason?
What was presented? At BlizzCon 2021, there were new details mainly about World of Warcraft and Diablo, both of which received some new content. The biggest announcements were:
The Arcade Collection is here and includes three classics from Blizzard’s history: The Lost Vikings, Blackthorne, and Rock N Roll Racing
In our live ticker for BlizzCon 2021, you can find all announcements and trailers summarized in chronological order.
This is how well the opening was received: Shortly after the end, we asked you how you liked the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2021. At the time of this evaluation (February 20, 2021, 3:50 PM), 878 readers had voted. The result is as follows:
28% are “dissatisfied” (250 votes)
23% are “less satisfied” (204 votes)
18% have a “neutral” opinion (158 votes)
15% are “very satisfied” (134 votes)
15% are “rather satisfied” (132 votes)
Deviations in the percentage are due to rounding errors.
Only 30% of voting MeinMMO readers, thus less than a third, were satisfied with the opening ceremony. More than half of you did not find it good. And most of you have a clear opinion on why that is.
Remasters and Classics – Does Blizzard need new games?
This bothers you the most: In the comments on MeinMMO, on GameStar, and on Reddit, complaints can be found that the announcements lack excitement. They are just reheated topics, nothing new.
SOPMOD on MeinMMO says, “I’m not a fan of this effortless nostalgia theme that Blizzard seems to be pursuing […] Is there no longer any courage for something new? Do they only rely on the old virtues with as little effort and risk as possible?”
Raiden Van Cleef on GameStar summarizes the mood among viewers in his own words: “I feel that Blizzard has no new ideas for game series. They have enough money. What is missing is the courage to do something new.” (via GameStar)
What is being referred to are apparently remasters and re-releases, such as from Diablo 2, The Burning Crusade, Hearthstone, and the Arcade Collection. Also, the Blizzard subreddit is full of memes about the re-releases and the fact that some games like Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm have simply been completely neglected:

Why is this a problem? Blizzard is known to many fans, especially from older generations, as a game developer that dares a lot. Projects were simply made, even at the risk of having to scrap them.
This mentality seems to be missing from the community with Blizzard in 2021. Instead of coming up with a new, concrete game or standing up for debacles like that of Warcraft 3 Reforged, only vague hints about other unspecified projects and remasters are coming. President J. Allen Brack said at the end of the ceremony: “There is so much we are working on. You already know about some things. We would like to talk about others when the right time comes.”
MeinMMO reader Tronic48 tries to put it all into perspective. He writes:
Are some of you dissatisfied? What did you expect, completely new games or something? Ask yourselves, especially those who wished for WoW Classic: Why should Blizzard make a new WoW, for example WoW 2, when the majority want a Classic server of WoW?
The new class in Diablo 4 was perhaps the biggest surprise. It was not leaked extensively beforehand, but Blizzard hinted that a new class would be announced during BlizzCon.
That a new class is coming was almost clear to everyone. That it would be the Huntress was the unknown.
That’s why it’s bad: Blizzard relies heavily on the effect of shocking the community with completely unexpected twists. The studio’s games engage players with emotions that can be unleashed at BlizzCon.
World of Warcraft is possibly the best example. If it hadn’t been previously known that Anduin becomes “evil”, the shock during the cinematic would have been much greater, and the discussions would have started after the BlizzCon, not before.
What kind of game is that? The biggest announcement of BlizzCon 2021 was the remaster of Diablo 2 titled “Resurrected”. The remake of the ARPG classic includes:
Classes from the original game
both the base game and the expansion Lords of Destruction
reworked graphics in 4K with the ability to switch to “old graphics”
some “quality of life” improvements such as a shared stash
console versions for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S with cross-progression
Although Diablo 2 is already nearly 21 years old, and even though it is a remaster, the announcement has been welcomed by most players and has also received the most praise here on MeinMMO based on comments.
That’s why Diablo 2 Remaster is received so well: Diablo 2 is considered a milestone of the genre and the game that has shaped ARPGs to this day. For many fans, it is still better than the sequel Diablo 3. MeinMMO reader Kartunga says:
I have played Diablo 2 at release in 2000 and later LoD more than any other game in my life […] This game has shaped me like Gothic. Just 2 years ago, I played it again for a few months.
Even players who do not celebrate Diablo 2 for nostalgia want to check it out. Due to its good reputation, the announcement has even attracted players who had no prior contact with Diablo 2. User DeepHorse on Reddit simply writes: “I’ve never played it before, I definitely have to test it.”

The trailer for Diablo 2 Resurrected is also well received.
In itself, this is a strange result, as most of you are annoyed by the remasters yet simultaneously celebrate the remaster of Diablo 2 the most. However, problems like those with Warcraft 3 Reforged might have also led to a certain caution in the community.
What do you think of the survey results? Did you expect this, or are you surprised that so few were satisfied with the opening?

In Pokémon GO the Kanto Tour started on Saturday morning. However, players were plagued by problems. The developers are planning another event for you.
This is what happened: Months ago, Niantic announced the big Kanto Tour. Trainers can catch all 151 Pokémon that were first found in the Kanto region as Shiny during this event for the first time. There will be special Kanto raids and the spawns will change hourly.
But right from the start, the mood was dampened. Some trainers who bought the ticket for €12 could initially not participate in the event. They were locked out and could not complete important research.
Niantic has now finally announced a replacement event. What we know so far, we will show you here on MeinMMO.
Not the first replacement event In recent months, Niantic has already held several replacement events because there were problems during the events. If these problems are severe, the developers bring bonus events as compensation. In August 2020, Niantic held a compensation event for 3 hours. This was only for players who purchased a ticket for the GO Fest. For the broken Dragon Week, Niantic also held a replacement event. After major problems at the Safari Zone in Dortmund in 2018, Niantic held a replacement event in Europe.
Replacement Event for Kanto Tour Coming
This is what Niantic says: On Twitter, Niantic’s support writes that they will hold an additional event. This event will take place for the players who purchased a ticket for the Kanto Tour.
Details on when the event will take place, how long it will last, and what bonuses will be activated are still unclear. It is possible that Niantic is planning another 12-hour event day and will repeat everything. However, it may also just be the first hours of the event where the most problems occurred that will be repeated.
We will embed the tweet here:

What problems occurred? Trainers both with and without tickets reported issues. Some could not access the Today’s overview and were interrupted with the message that they needed a ticket for that. This affects trainers who did not purchase a ticket and just want to play. But even trainers with tickets could not access the overview or complete their quests.
MeinMMO reader Dion00 writes: “I have the problem as a player without a ticket that when I want to view my challenges (magnifying glass symbol), the message appears: Raid ongoing, I should choose red or green, no matter what you select, an error message later appears. You can close the message and come back, is this a bug or intentional?!”
Additionally, trainers complained about app crashes. In between, the PvP League was also unavailable.
Rarely, it even happened that players who actually did not purchase a ticket suddenly had one in their inventory.
How did it go for you? Were you also affected by the problems today or did everything run smoothly for you? Let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments and tell us about your experiences.
In our live ticker for the Kanto Tour, we will keep you updated with the most important news for the rest of the event. Be sure to check it out.

The new exotic bow in Destiny 2, Ticuus’s Divination, was quickly set aside by many Guardians after a brief trial. However, this exotic weapon holds far more than one might suspect at first glance. It is quite a powerful killing instrument – you just have to know how to play it right.
Here’s what this weapon is about: The exotic bow Ticuus’s Divination was introduced with the new Season 13, the Season of the Chosen, and is available through the Season Pass.
For those who purchase the pass, the weapon is available at Season Level 1.
All other players can claim it completely freely and without any costs at Season Level 35.
This new Exo bow is used in the special slot and deals Solar damage.
Its exotic perk “Holy Flame” causes the bow to fire 3 seeking projectiles when used from the hip, marking up to 3 enemies with red diamonds. Marked targets explode upon their death or when hit by another Holy Flame explosion.
The additional perk “Causality Arrows” also means that arrows fired through the sighting device cause Holy Flames to explode immediately. Precision hits with perfectly drawn arrows increase the strength of this explosion.
The stats of Ticuus’s Divination (Source: light.gg)
By the way, Ticuus’s Divination has the fastest draw time of all exotic bows in the game.
What are “Perfect Draw” and “Perfectly Drawn Arrows”?
A perfect draw refers to a small time window that activates shortly after fully drawing the bow and grants the arrow an additional damage bonus when fired during this time.
Each bow has a visual aid to indicate this state to you. For Ticuus’s Divination, for example, the reticle of the aiming device gradually builds up and eventually glows unmistakably when the perfect draw is achieved.
Arrows fired during the perfect draw are called perfectly drawn arrows. But beware: Holding the fully drawn state for too long will cause this buff to wear off.
The new bow is powerful – it just isn’t obvious right away
This experience may be familiar to many: I, Sven from MeinMMO, am really into bows in Destiny 2. Especially with my Hunter. Even if they are not always the most effective weapons, they just belong to a true Hunter, but they also work well with other classes.
But bows not only have style, they can also be deadly and very effective toys – just like my previous favorite, the Trinity Ghoul. Accordingly, I was really looking forward to trying out a new exotic specimen.
Hunters and their bows
But after I got my hands on Ticuus’s Divination and tried it briefly, I was quite underwhelmed. And the new Exo quickly landed in the vault. This was also the case for many of my gaming buddies. The thing hardly does any damage, what’s the point of that? This was the general consensus.
However, shortly after, I stumbled upon a video from Aztecross Gaming about the new bow and watched it completely. And I must say – I have rarely been so wrong in my first assessment of a weapon as I was here. And my appeal to you: don’t make the same mistake. Give the weapon a fair chance and at least really engage with it once.
Maybe you too will discover your new favorite toy. Or at least one that you like to take out every now and then. Personally, I have found a new top favorite that will now belong to my very small circle of favorite exotics. At least in PvE. In PvP I haven’t really utilized the bow seriously, just mindlessly played with the Cat.
We will embed the video from Aztecross here, but will also recap much of the content in German below:

That’s why you should take a closer look at Ticuus’s Divination: The true strength of the bow lies similarly to the exotic sword “The Lament” behind a seemingly complex mechanic and is not immediately recognizable to everyone. But in short: the bow can be very powerful and a lot of fun – provided you know how to play it and how to exploit its strengths.
It is excellently suited to
clear adds,
but can also deal significant damage against individual targets.
Additionally, this weapon exotic benefits from the Warmind Cell mechanic, making it even more effective when paired with the right mods.
And as a masterpiece, Ticuus’s Divination becomes even more powerful.
Here’s how to play Ticuus’s Divination correctly
The basic mechanic without the catalyst explained: Basically, it’s simple:
You first shoot from the hip, marking up to 3 targets. For the next arrow, you simply shoot through the sighting device at the marked enemies – and they explode. Weaker enemies usually die instantly. If there are additional weaker adds nearby, the explosion typically takes out entire groups.
Try to land a critical hit with the arrow shot through the sight. Because this significantly increases the damage – both from the explosion and from the direct arrow hit itself.
A crit (critical hit) deals about 81 % more damage compared to a body shot – and you’ll notice it immediately.
If you internalize this mechanism, the bow becomes a very powerful tool against weaker enemies and groups of adds even without the masterpiece catalyst and won’t have to shy away from competition. But the catalyst makes the bow even stronger and more useful.
This is what the marking of the enemies looks like
Here’s how to obtain the catalyst: The corresponding quest is automatically given by Weaponsmith Banshee-44 at the Tower, shortly after you have received the weapon itself. Banshee will then be marked with a blue quest marker. Once you’ve completed the 3-part quest, you’ll receive the cat. You will then need to level it by defeating 700 enemies with Ticuus’s Divination.
Note for the catalyst quest: I would recommend starting the cat quest at Season Level 22, as you’ll unlock a bonus that quadruples your progress in the cat quest.
Also, in step 2 of the 3-part quest, make sure to fight enemy Guardians in PvP only through the sight, without marking them first with the seeking arrows from the hip. If they are killed while marked – whether by the explosion, the arrow, or by one of your allies – it does not count towards progression. All other tasks within the quest are self-explanatory.
The Omega Boost makes the catalyst quest easier for you
This is what the catalyst does: As a masterpiece, the bow gains the additional perk “Causality Quiver” through the catalyst. Perfectly drawn arrows that cause Holy Flames to explode increase arrow damage (only arrow damage, even from the hip, but not from the explosion) – the bow’s damage itself. If you hit targets that are not affected by Holy Flame, it refreshes the duration of “Causality Arrows” instead.
The buff lasts about 4-5 seconds and can be refreshed during this time if you hit unmarked targets, or even be stacked up to 6 times. And it’s really worth it – especially against single, more powerful targets.
The buff itself, as well as the number of stacks, will be displayed on the left side of your screen. You don’t need to land critical hits to stack – it is still recommended for much higher damage – hits within the time frame with perfectly drawn arrows against targets affected by Holy Flame are sufficient.
This is where you see the buff along with the stacks (Source: Ilias Gaming on YouTube)
Keep in mind:
Crits are hugely rewarded, but should not be pursued at the expense of losing Causality Arrows stacks – especially against single targets.
If you mark 3 targets, then trigger the explosion, and the 3 enemies are close enough together, you obtain 3 Causality Arrow stacks with just one shot.
This is how the bow plays as a masterpiece
Against groups, you can still use the basic principle – so mark and explode. Here you can do without stacking, as the basic mechanic works well enough – even without the catalyst.
However, against tougher foes like majors or ultras, you can stack the Causality Arrow buff by alternating your shots at the target, bringing it to its knees with ease. Thus, with the catalyst, the bow is not only good for clearing adds, but also becomes an effective weapon against single, tough targets like champions.
This is how damage stacks up:
The damage values of Ticuus’s Divination (Source: Aztecross Gaming)
Attention group players: If you are in a fireteam with other users of “Ticuus’s Divination”, you can really cause some serious explosions.
One can only mark the enemies from the hip.
Others can then take out the enemies through the sighting device.
This will trigger explosions AND continuously accumulate Causality Arrow stacks. The bow can be played even more effectively in conjunction.
Try this armor exotic out with it: If you are playing a Hunter, then a heavily neglected armor exotic can finally shine – namely the Young Ahamkara’s Spine. Bow charges can be held indefinitely. This means after fully drawing, you effectively always have the perfect draw.

This makes the bow even stronger: The Solar bow with its Solar explosions synergizes especially well with the Warmind Cell mods. Both components complement each other perfectly. Try out the following mods to extract even more power from Ticuus’s Divination:
Rasputin’s Wrath: Kills with Solar splash damage have a chance to create Warmind Cells.
Wrath of the Warmind: Grants additional Solar damage for explosions created by destroying Warmind Cells.
Burning Cells: Destroying a Warmind Cell releases a Solar energy wave that burns enemies for a few seconds (for some extra damage).
Fireteam Medic: Destroying a Warmind Cell grants healing to you and nearby allies.
Global Reach: Warmind Cells you create affect and damage enemies at further distances (larger distance, larger explosion radius).
The bow mods from Season 13’s artifact can also be very useful if you want to create a build around Ticuus’s Divination.
And with the Warlock’s Well or the Titan’s Weapons of Light, you can boost the damage of the new exotic bow even more.
What do you think of this exotic? Did you also quickly stash this bow in the vault? Will you now give it a try or have you perhaps already done so intensively? What are your experiences and impressions? Let us and other readers of MeinMMO know in the comments.

The WoW cinematic “Kingsgram” has answered many questions, but was also filled with many details. We dare to take a close analysis of all scenes.
For players of World of Warcraft, the highlight of BlizzConline was likely the video “Kingsgram”. It shows how Anduin reaches his new form and at the same time has some interesting parallels to the past of the Warcraft franchise. Filled with many little allusions and interesting details, it is worth watching the video multiple times.
For that reason, we took the time to write a small analysis to break down the details that may have gone unnoticed.
But first, watch the entire cinematic again:

The video begins, after a brief overview, with a war council of the Kyrians. Kyrestia the Firstborn, also known as Archon, speaks with her followers about the fate of the Shadowlands. Although the heroes have already dealt with some of the most pressing issues during the Covenant campaign, nothing has yet been done to stop the Jailer.
According to the Kyrians, “the Maw is still growing.” Of course, this is also obvious. Denathrius had fulfilled his purpose and directed Anima into the Maw, while all souls from all mortal realms are still being hurled into the Maw, increasing the power of the Jailer.
Even if it feels from a gameplay perspective that much has already been achieved in the Shadowlands – from a story perspective, this is not the case. Essentially, nothing has been done to effectively weaken the Jailer, and with every passing second, his power continues to grow.
The Kyrians are considering asking the Night Fae – led by the Winter Queen – for help. However, we do not learn what exactly the Winter Queen can do for the Kyrians, as Kleia interrupts the war council and arrives flying.
Kleia persuades the Archon to allow mortals to pass.
Kleia should be known to most players. She starts as an aspirant, and you accompany her until her ascension. For a Kyrian, she is comparatively unusual, as she is lively and cheerful, often showing emotions – in stark contrast to many “older” Kyrians, who carry out their duties very neutrally and almost emotionlessly.
Uther senses the grief power in Anduin
Kleia is now speaking as we see the king – Anduin Wrynn, apparently escaped from the Maw. He walks calmly down the Himmelfeste and crosses paths with Uther. Even though Uther does not recognize Anduin, as they barely knew each other in life and Anduin was still a small child back then, Uther senses something. The expression on Uther’s face shows surprise and even joy, while the background music momentarily features almost angelic chants, as if Uther recognizes the light within Anduin.
Uther recognizes something in Anduin – the light?
In stark contrast to this, however, is Uther’s gesture. He grabs his chest wound inflicted by Frostmourne with his right hand. Apparently, his wound pains him, which is already the first dark sign that these dark powers are apparently very close – and thus present in Anduin.
Uther’s wound hurts – the source of his wound is near.
But before Uther can even fully understand what he is feeling – and possibly warn – he is pulled out of this thought and pushed along by the Kyrians. Uther is, after all, one of the Forsaken, and even though he has switched sides, he is still viewed warily and with suspicion by most Kyrians.
An introduction like Wrath of the Lich King
However, just as important as what is shown are Kleia’s words, accompanying Anduin’s journey. Kleia announces that a living soul requests an audience and explains upon further inquiry that it is a king.
She says:
A king. One who has strived for justice all his life. Who would sacrifice everything to serve his people. Whose heart is truly pure.
Kleia’s words are likely to evoke some flashbacks in many a Warcraft fan. For such a description of a king, penned by another person, WoW players remember from the intro cinematic of Wrath of the Lich King. Back then, it was a letter from King Terenas addressed to his son Arthas. The letter was read while Arthas was shown, ruling as king over the undead in Icecrown, resurrecting frost wyrms and essentially becoming a dark perversion of what his father once wished for him. For the record, here is the old WotLK cinematic:

That Anduin has become something similarly dark as Arthas is demonstrated in the next scene. Normally, Anduin’s features are friendly, deliberative, and compassionate – in tune with the virtues of light. Here, however, he appears calculating, focused, and cold.
Anduin – hard and cold, as you rarely see him.
The next seconds make it clear that it is not Anduin standing before the Archon, but an avatar of the Jailer. Anduin demands a “key,” which immediately causes the Archon to fall into caution.
For whatever the “key” is, only someone who has known the Archon for ages can know that – in this case, Zovaal, the Jailer.
The Kyrians are ready.
Kyrestia raises her spear and demands that the soul of this mortal be released. Anduin’s voice transforms, replaced by that of the Jailer, who proclaims: “This soul is bound to me, just as you once sought to bind your own brother.”
Anduin – more powerful than a Firstborn
The scene clearly demonstrates how powerful Anduin – and thus the Jailer – has become. The Kyrians are already ready for battle. They have drawn their weapons and are alarmed when Anduin summons the blade of grief and drives it into the ground. Another parallel to Arthas, who did exactly that when he summoned the frost wyrm Sindragosa from the ice.
Anduin with the blade of grief, just like Arthas did back then.
The explosion of grief energy is so strong that all high-ranking Kyrians – the strongest the Covenant has to offer – are immediately overwhelmed by it and shackled. Only Kyrestia is not immediately overwhelmed but retreats and shields her face.
The grief energy from the Maw overwhelms all high-ranking Kyrians.
However, one must credit Kyrestia that she was recently heavily wounded. The fight against Devos and the Forsaken did not leave her unscathed and might have caused her to still be weakened.
Anduin transforms, his armor seemingly revealing true colors.
Moreover, the element of surprise is on Anduin’s side, as the explosion of Maw energy causes Kyrestia to drop her spear to protect herself with her hands. Exactly this becomes her downfall in the next moment when Anduin leaps at her and drives the blade of grief into her body – she could only defend herself with her hands, which was virtually useless.
Kyrestia only defends herself with her hands – hopeless.
The power granted to Anduin by the blade of grief and armor, and that used by the Jailer, is apparently strong enough to swiftly eliminate a Firstborn even in the midst of her strongest servants. This only hints at how strong the Jailer must be if he were to come out of the Maw.
Anduin’s spirit is still alive
While the blade of grief is embedded in Kyrestia and gradually extracting the essence of the Kyrians and thus the aforementioned key, Anduin seems to regain some clarity. The blue of his eyes fades, his facial features soften. Doubt, fear, and reluctance are clearly readable from his expression.
Anduin briefly regains clarity …
Apparently, the Jailer also notices that Anduin is resisting his control. The runes of domination on Anduin’s armor glow, causing Anduin’s eyes to glow stronger again and the cool, calculating presence of the Jailer to return.
… only to be taken over again.
Thus, it is clear. Anduin’s spirit still exists. He has not changed but has simply been suppressed and pushed aside.
Sylvanas’ doubts and the other keys
The scene ends and Anduin returns to the Maw. The Jailer proclaims that “the vessel has performed its task flawlessly,” which further emphasizes that Anduin’s body is nothing more than a tool. Resigned, Anduin presents the rune blade to the Jailer and hands him “the key,” the symbol of the Kyrians.
Anduin hands over the “key” of the Kyrians – what does that mean?
Here we also see Sylvanas Windrunner again, initially only in the background. However, interesting observations can be made here. She briefly looks at the blade of grief and the rune Anduin brings, but almost immediately her gaze shifts to Anduin’s face. She examines his empty, soulless, and willing expression.
As the Jailer speaks, the camera zooms in on Sylvanas, focusing her facial features. The Banshee Queen does not speak, and once again, doubts can be detected in her expression as she looks at the man she has turned into a willing weapon.
Once again, doubt arises in Sylvanas. Yet she remains on her path.
What Sylvanas thinks here is not made explicit, but much can be interpreted. After all, Sylvanas herself was once a mindless object of the Scourge. After she freed herself from that control, she tried her entire unlife to maintain and uphold free will.
Sylvanas’ gaze drifts for a moment into the distance and then to the ground – yet another sign of remorse. However, this expression lasts only for a few moments, as her gaze solidifies again when she turns to the Jailer.
Interesting are also the words of the Jailer. He says that three keys remain. At first glance, this seems logical, as the key from Bastion is missing the key from Ardenweald, Maldraxxus, and Revendreth.
At least, if that is truly the origin of the keys, the purpose of which we do not yet know. We also do not know how many keys exist and whether the Jailer does not already possess several. After all, the Jailer could easily have obtained the key from Revendreth. After all, Denathrius was a traitor and worked with the Jailer. If he really is one of the key holders, it seems unlikely that Zovaal has not claimed it earlier.
However, it could also be that the key from Revendreth is locked away with Denathrius in Remornia, thus – for the time being – out of the Jailer’s reach.
Korthia in the distance, as it is slowly pulled into the Maw.
The video ends with a small camera movement. The Jailer has sent out his chains into the Maw, thus transporting a piece of land into the Maw. This is Korthia, the city of secrets, where a large part of Patch 9.1 will take place.
That Anduin resembles Arthas in his new form is no coincidence and has been repeatedly emphasized by the developers for years. Even when Anduin captured the throne room in “Battle for Azeroth,” the camera was focused exactly on him, much like many years before on Arthas in a very similar scene. This is something that has been referenced in later cinematics multiple times.
However, there are significant differences between Anduin and Arthas. Arthas actively sought the power of the blade of grief – and also reached for this power after Muradin warned him that the blade was cursed.
Anduin, on the other hand, has remained strong until the end and has not let himself be lured by either Sylvanas or the Jailer. He made it very clear in the end that he would not waver, and if one wanted to turn him into a weapon, they would have to force him – exactly what has been done.
The transformation of Anduin happened against his will.
This makes Anduin, from the perspective of a light-favored character, a stronger personality than Arthas. For even now, Anduin continues to fight against the control of the Jailer and is forced back under control by the relics of domination (armor and sword) when he resists.
This makes it clear that Anduin still exists with his original personality and that we may be able to save him. Perhaps Sylvanas even plays a role in that, should she find her conscience again.
How did you find the cinematic and the many little allusions and details? Cool and exciting development of the story or just “reheated repetition without ideas”?

PvP in Diablo 4 is optional. Those who participate at the release and are good at killing other players can buy mounts, armor, and weapons. We show you how PvP works and what challenges you can expect.
What’s new? During BlizzCon 2021, Blizzard talked about the open world and PvP in Diablo 4. The developers revealed the rewards for participating in optional PvP.
You play PvP in areas called Fields of Hatred. You can find these fields in the middle of the open world and enter them directly. When someone enters one of these areas, Mephisto gains influence over them, and they develop hatred towards their fellow players, Blizzard explains. Suddenly, every character is left to fend for themselves.
For kills in the PvP area, you receive shards. If you exchange these, you can use them to buy weapons, mounts, and armor. However, it’s not easy to earn the shards.
Anyone wanting to use PvP shards must complete the challenge
This is the goal: In the Fields of Hatred, you can farm shards, the Shards of Hatred. This is a rarer resource that you earn for killing other players or monsters in the PvP area. You also receive them for completing events or opening chests. However, as long as the shards are not purified, anyone can steal them from you if you die.
Here the Shards of Hatred drop in Diablo 4 – Source: Blizzard YouTube
You must go to an altar in the PvP area with the unpurified shards to purify them. Only then will they become bound to you as a currency and cannot be taken from you by other players.
This is the challenge: When you start the purification ritual, nearby players will be notified. They will know: Someone is trying to convert their shards. If you take them down before the ritual is completed, we will get all their shards.
At an altar like this, you will start the purification ritual – Source: Blizzard YouTube
Additionally, there’s a kind of bounty. If you are currently gathering a lot of Shards of Hatred, it will be displayed to players in a large radius around you. If enemies kill you, they receive a large bonus for it.
If you survive this bounty phase, which lasts for a certain period of time, you can expect a “really big bonus,” Blizzard explains. However, if you flee with the bounty status or use a town portal, that does not count.
This concept might sound familiar: Readers of MeinMMO will likely immediately think of The Division when describing this concept. There, players collect contaminated gear in the “PvE/PvP” area “Dark Zone” that they can smuggle out of the zone through an “Extraction” process with a helicopter.
In The Division, other players are also informed that someone wants to escape with their loot and can attempt to prevent the player from escaping and rob them.
What can you buy for shards in Diablo 4? Especially for the PvP shards, there are vendors in the Fields of Hatred. They want to buy your shards and offer you special armor, new mounts, weapons, and other content in exchange.
Blizzard emphasizes that these exchangeable contents are not really stronger than items you can find elsewhere in the game. However, the purchasable items are meant to appeal to PvP players.
And what about the ears? Those who have seen the trailer for the new Hunter class in Diablo 4 will not have missed the ears. The Hunter had collected a lot of them and apparently kept them as trophies. According to Blizzard, the ears of your opponents will play a role in the PvP of Diablo 4 again. It is unclear whether they will simply remain trophies, can be sold for gold, or if a better use can be found for them.
What do you think of the look into the PvP of Diablo 4? Do you find it good and want to try it out, or is it not for you?
Feel free to share your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments and discuss the pros and cons of the currency and whether the purification ritual of the shards is a good idea.

Blizzard presented the new game “Diablo 2: Resurrected” at BlizzCon 2021. The last remaster, Warcraft 3 Reforged, was a complete flop. The head of the Diablo series is distancing himself from the debacle as quickly as possible. The original Diablo 2 will be left completely untouched, promises Rod Ferguson.
So the head distances himself from the D2 remaster of Warcraft 3: In an interview with PC Gamer, the new head of Diablo places a significant distance between himself and “Warcraft 3 Reforged.” He states:
“It’s a different team and that [Warcraft 3 Reforged] was before my time at Blizzard.”
Rod Fergusson, the Diablo head of Blizzard
This is what Rod Fergusson says: He joined Blizzard in February 2020 to oversee the Diablo series, including Diablo 4, Diablo Immortal, and now the newly released Diablo 2. Warcraft 3 Reforged was already released in January 2020.
Blizzard seems to be changing its team
What does he mean by new team? That’s a bit delicate. “Warcraft 3 Reforged” was apparently developed by Team 1 at Blizzard. Team 1 had been responsible for:
Heroes of the Storm
Starcraft II
and most recently Warcraft 3 Reforged, after support for Starcraft 2 and HotS more or less ceased
According to an insider report by Jason Schreier from January 2021, “Team 1” was actually supposed to take over the development of Diablo 2 Resurrected. However, they were stripped of the project after the fiasco with Warcraft 3 Reforged. The team was reportedly dissolved.
The task of making a remaster of Diablo 2, was then handed over to the Activision studio “Vicarious Visions” and apparently to the Diablo team. Representatives from Vicarious Visions and Rod Fergusson, the Diablo head, were interview partners with GameStar Plus when they posed questions about Diablo 2 Resurrected (via GameStar Plus).
So when the head of the Diablo team distances himself from Warcraft 3 Reforged and says, “that was before my time at Blizzard,” it’s a clear statement.
The studio Vicarious Visions belongs to Activision Blizzard. The studio has been around for 30 years and has about 200 employees. In 2005, the studio was bought by Activision, and in recent years, they mainly worked as a support studio on Destiny 2, handling the PC port, and on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2. In January 2021, Vicarious Visions was integrated into Blizzard. Vicarious Visions is apparently primarily working on Diablo 2 Resurrected – they are supposed to fulfill the role that “Team 1” was originally intended for.
The original Diablo 2 remains the original Diablo 2
What is Diablo 2 doing differently now? A mistake that Warcraft 3 made and that Blizzard will not repeat: The original game will remain untouched.
Diablo 2 Resurrected is being built using the original code of Diablo 2, but it is a completely standalone game:
“One thing we want to ensure: The original D2 remains the original D2. We will make sure the game remains intact.
For example: There’s a terrible hacking mod that jeopardizes the security of the game. But if that’s your favorite way to play Diablo 2, you can still do that. Because we won’t support that kind of mod for D2 Resurrected. Keeping both games completely separate was an important step.”
Why is this important? The game “Warcraft 3 Reforged” was released in January 2020 and received – for a Blizzard game – terrible reviews on Metacritic. It stands at 59 out of 100.
With Diablo 2 Resurrected, Blizzard does not want to repeat this mistake.
Warcraft 3 Reforged was a huge disappointment for many Blizzard fans and has shaken their faith in the company. It is all the more bitter that even in 2021, few improvements can be seen in the game.
Next week you can try the RPG shooter Outriders for the first time. MeinMMO shows you 7 things you should know about the free demo.
What is Outriders anyway? It is an RPG shooter that, from what has been shown so far, resembles a mix of Diablo 3 and various loot shooters like Anthem. It is played in third-person perspective.
You choose from different classes, collect powerful equipment (loot) and complete missions in a group of up to three players. A demo version is coming soon, where you can test the game.
When is the release of the Outriders demo? The release will take place next week on Thursday, February 25th. The demo will be available for PC (only on Steam), Xbox Series S and X, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5. You can download the demo from 6 PM.
If you want to test the shooter, MeinMMO shows you 7 important things you should know about the Outriders demo.
Soon you can let it rip in the demo.
1. The Outriders demo is free
Anyone can try the demo. All you need is an account with Square Enix. The game also requires an internet connection. If you play on Xbox or Playstation, you also need a respective subscription, either PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold. Otherwise, there are no costs for you.
2. In the Outriders demo you can play the story for the first time
Outriders refers to itself as an RPG. Accordingly, there is a main story and side missions that can be completed. In the demo, you can play the first hours of the main story. There you will likely encounter a rival in the first chapter. Afterwards, you can revisit the area in a side mission.
What is the story about? In Outriders, humanity has left Earth. They found refuge on the planet Enoch through a mysterious signal. There, humans have built a colony.
The players’ goal is to get to the bottom of this mysterious signal. However, you will not only face the dangerous native life forms. A strange anomaly changes everything on the planet.
As a result, humans also gain strange abilities, such as manipulating gravity, space, time, and elements. This is how the four classes with their unique properties, which you can play, come about.
On the planet, you face not only monsters but also nasty types.
3. Your progress will carry over to the main game
Everything you achieve in the demo can be carried over to the full game. Thus, you can continue playing from the point where you had to stop in the demo when the full release comes. This also counts for your individual classes’ progress, which follows in the next point.
4. You can try all 4 classes of Outriders
In Outriders, you can play up to four different classes:
Technomancer
Devastator
Trickster
Pyromancer
These classes have different skill trees and properties. In the demo, you test these four classes to get an idea of which one suits your playstyle best.
Which class will you choose? This here is the Technomancer.
5. A lot of content if you test all 4 classes
If you try all four classes in the demo, the test version offers around 8-12 hours of playtime. The developers estimate the playtime for the playable missions to be around 2-3 hours. If you complete these missions with each class, you will likely be occupied for at least 8-12 hours.
In the demo, there will be six slots for your classes. This means you can even create 6 characters to achieve up to 18 hours of gaming fun.
Of course, this also depends on how fast you are and how extensively you want to try out the mechanics of Outriders. It is even possible to continue playing further; there is no time limit for the content of the demo.
Outriders will offer a crossplay function upon release. All platforms can hunt for loot together.
This function will also be available in the demo, but in a test phase. You need to manually activate the option if you want to play with friends on other platforms.
What about cross-save? Game saves can only be transferred if you transition from PS4 to PS5 or from Xbox One to Series. Transferring from one console to PC is not possible.
7. The demo is playable even after the release of Outriders
If you don’t get to play the demo before the release of Outriders, that’s no problem. It will still be available afterwards. So you can familiarize yourself with Outriders at any time, if you wish.
When does Outriders actually come out? The full version of the shooter is set to release on April 1, 2021.
Will you be playing the Outriders demo? Do you already have a plan which classes you want to test? Or are you not interested in the shooter so far? Let us know in the comments.
For WoW: Classic and Burning Crusade Classic, you will soon be able to spend more money. At least if you want to copy a character.
At BlizzCon 2021, a bit more was discussed about Burning Crusade Classic (TBC Classic). The developers revealed quite a bit, especially about the transition between the Classic era and the age of Burning Crusade. Players will have to make significant decisions there.
To help with the decision, Blizzard is also offering two new paid services to make it easier: a character boost and a character copy. We have all the known details.
What are Boost and Copy in TBC Classic?
The two services are supposed to be implemented together with the launch of Burning Crusade Classic.
Character boost is coming: Along with Burning Crusade Classic, Blizzard is also introducing a character boost. This is meant to ensure that players can dive directly into the action on the shattered world without having to play through the Classic world again first.
However, the boost also has a number of restrictions to prevent major issues. Here is all the info about the boost:
The character will be level 58 after the boost, has the normal riding skill, and some blue items appropriate to the level
The boost cannot be applied to Draenei and Blood Elves
Only one boost can be purchased per account
How much the character boost will cost is still unknown.

Character copy for the undecided: For those who are unsure whether they want to continue their journey into the shattered world with their character or simply remain forever in the Classic era, Blizzard offers a third option.
There will be a new character service that will allow a character to be copied. Then you could copy your character at the start of TBC Classic and continue playing it on a Classic realm while taking the same character with you into the shattered world. From there on, the characters are, of course, independent – separate copies.
How much this service will cost and the extent to which it will be available has not yet been clarified.
Do you think it’s good that Blizzard offers these options? Or do you see it as a gradual introduction of the cash shop into the Classic era?
In Destiny 2, a weekly task is named “Blood and Honor”, a slogan of the Hitler Youth. Bungie has now apologized for this after fans explained the difficult wording and pointed it out. They say it was not intentional, and they apologize to all who were hurt by the references.
What is the issue with this slogan? “Blood and Honor” was a slogan of the Nazis, which was used among others by the Hitler Youth, the youth organization of the NSDAP:
Blood and Honor was the title of a songbook
The words were embossed on the belt buckle of the Hitler Youth
It was the inscription of the blades of the HJ camping knife between 1933 and 1938
In Germany, the use of “Blood and Honor” is punishable. It falls under “distributing propaganda materials of unconstitutional organizations.” This is regulated by Paragraph 86 of the Penal Code.
On reddit, a Destiny 2 player points out that a neo-Nazi organization in the UK today goes by the name “Blood & Honor” (via reddit), additionally, “Blood and Honor” was inscribed on a knife that an alt-Nazi pulled against Magneto in the movie X-Men: First Class (2011). The Nazi quickly regretted it after Magneto shoved the knife into his hand.
The Twitter user Mardin of Chatzuk, who writes fanfiction for Destiny 2, posted on February 16, the day of the Weekly Reset, a screenshot of the quest section on Twitter and tagged Bungie and the company’s community team.
The issue was compounded by the fact that a task in the Cosmodrome is titled “Battleground: Cleansing”: “Cleansing” is also a word closely associated with the Nazis.
The user on Twitter wishes for a change in wording.
“Cleansing” is also marked by the user as difficult wording. Image source. Twitter.
Bungie is already working on a fix in an upcoming patch
This is how Bungie responds: They sent a statement to the US site Kotaku, which had first picked up the story (via Kotaku):
Any connection to anti-Semitism in Destiny 2 is completely unintentional. Bungie will never stand for anti-Semitism and is fully committed to inclusion and human rights.
We have already prepared fixes for an upcoming patch. We apologize to all our players who were hurt by the references, and we are grateful to our community for bringing their concerns to our attention.
A statement from Bungie
What is behind it: It apparently just slipped through because “Blood and Honor” is not necessarily thought of as a Nazi slogan, unlike other linguistic turns. This seems to not have even been noticed in the German localization.
The mistake could have been avoided: Anyone searching for “Blood and Honor” on the internet in Germany gets the Wikipedia entry: “Blood and Honor – Youth Under Hitler”, a TV miniseries from 1982.
Once you start looking in that direction, “Cleansing” quickly comes to mind as well. The swift reaction from Bungie once again shows how important such topics are to them.
If you have space turtles in the game that want to conquer the universe and fantasize about the rule of their own turtle race over “unworthy, other species”, then one probably needs to increasingly pay attention to parallels with the Nazis.
Somehow we have always known it: These turtles have a strange ideology.
In September 2017, Bungie had already been made aware that they had a difficult symbol in Destiny. Hunter gloves bore the symbol of a racist movement:
Currently, the big Kanto Tour is happening in Pokémon GO. During the event, 4 regional Pokémon, Tauros, Kangaskhan, Porygon, and Mr. Mime, are available in raids.
What is the Kanto Tour? The Kanto Tour is the big event for the 1st Pokémon generation, currently running on Saturday, February 20. Players who bought a ticket get the chance to catch all the Pokémon from the classic games. Here you can find all spawns of the Kanto Tour.
This includes the regional monsters of the 1st generation. However, they don’t appear in the wild but in 3-star raids – making them accessible to players who did not get a ticket.
These 4 regional monsters are available
In total, there are 4 monsters of the 1st generation that are usually regionally distributed. They are as follows:
Porygon: Porygon is a Normal and Flying type Pokémon. It is not normally available in Germany, but rather found exclusively in East Asia. At least the Galar version could be caught here some time ago.
Kangaskhan is also very hard to get in this country, partly because it has rarely been part of any special events. It is normally found in Australia.
Tauros: Normally, Tauros only appears in North America, but today it is also here in the raids. However, just recently, the buffalo could also be secured during the Lunar New Year event.
Mr. Mime: Mr. Mime is the fourth regional monster and is probably the least interesting in this country. The mime can usually be found as a wild Pokémon in Europe. Nevertheless, it will be needed for collector challenges.
That’s why regional monsters are worth it: Regionally restricted monsters are rare and hard to obtain outside their usual habitats. However, if you want to complete your Kanto Pokédex, you should secure the monsters while they are available.
Nostalgia fans perked up when the presentation suddenly turned to Diablo 2. Blizzard announced the remaster version, Diablo 2: Resurrected, and showed some scenes and screenshots of it.
Later, they released a video on the press server showing gameplay from the remaster version of Diablo 2.
This is Diablo 2: Resurrected For several years, rumors about a reissued version of Diablo 2 have been circulating. During BlizzCon 2021, Blizzard confirmed: Yes, we are making a remaster of Diablo 2. It is called Resurrected and is set to be released in 2021. This time for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.
Ingame video of Diablo 2: Resurrected
Watch it here: On Gofer’s YouTube channel, you can find the video that shows you nearly 6 minutes of gameplay from Diablo 2: Resurrected.
We embed the clip for you here. Keep in mind that a B-Roll is an unedited video that also does not include music. You will hear the combat sounds and get a glimpse of fights, enemies, and comfort features like easier item comparison.

The Rogue class for Diablo 4 was introduced by Blizzard. During BlizzCon 2021, the new character and first glimpses of the attacks and abilities were presented.
What can the Rogue do in Diablo 4? The Rogue is the fourth character that Blizzard introduced for the new Diablo 4. You play it with the primary attribute of dexterity. Veterans of the Diablo franchise are already familiar with the Rogue from Diablo 1. However, changes have been made here to appeal to fans of Assassins and Demon Hunters.
The Rogue is fast and mobile
You play in both melee and ranged combat
Poison plays an important role in damage
There is no gender lock – you can create both female and male Rogues
Rogue in Diablo 4: All information on abilities
This is how the Rogue plays: Blizzard provided an overview of the characteristics and a few abilities of the new class from Diablo 4. Generally, all classes are intended to remain as they are known from the franchise. However, the play styles have been partly revised and modernized.
As a “fast, mobile, and deadly” class, the Rogue is introduced. It is supposed to bring unparalleled versatility to battles. This works in both melee and ranged combat. Stabbing, shooting, and catching opponents in traps are part of the strategies used in combat.
For even more strength, Rogues rely on poison, shadow magic, and special techniques, explains Blizzard.

What weapons do Rogues carry? At the current stage of development, Rogues carry a bow, a crossbow, daggers, or swords. You can equip 2 melee weapons and one ranged weapon simultaneously to utilize hybrid play styles. Carrying two additional melee weapons alongside the ranged weapon is strong for equipping two more legendary items.
A look at the Rogue’s inventory in Diablo 4
What makes the Rogue special: Rogue players can choose from three specializations that can be switched at any time. However, switching comes with costs. How high these costs are remains unclear and will be defined later. Specializations are unlocked through quests.
The 3 specializations are:
Combo Points – Provide another resource. The normal resource fills up quickly already. This play style with combo points is known from the Assassin in D2, or from WoW or HotS. The familiar system applies: With builders, you accumulate the points, and with spenders, you use them. The more combo points you build up, the more powerful the spenders become. This play style with combo points also exists in ranged combat.
Exploit Weakness – Here your reflexes are tested. In combat with opponents, you find weaknesses that become visible. If you can quickly switch to these, you deal much more damage to the enemies. True to the motto “High Skill, High Reward”. Those who often miss should consider a different specialization.
Shadow Roam – Plays almost like stealth. You disappear into the “Shadow Roam”. A few enemies can enter this Roam, but only a few. This is suitable for repositioning in or before combat.
With the ability “Imbue Weapon”, you can enhance your weapons. Choose “Frost” for more CC, “Poison” for extra DoT damage, or “Shadow” for more area damage.
These skills are known: With the introduction of the Rogue, we already know the following attacks:
Ice Barrage (Frost)
Forceful Arrow (Poison)
Crow’s Feet
Rain of Arrows (Shadow)
The Rain of Arrows of the Rogue in Diablo 4
What attributes do Rogues focus on? It is currently known that the intelligence attribute favors critical hits for a Rogue. However, this is still being tested and has not been set in stone for release.
For whom is the Rogue made? Those who loved the Rogue in Diablo 1 can feed their nostalgia feelings in the latest installment of the franchise. However, according to Blizzard, Demon Hunter and Assassin players may also recognize some tricks.

What do we already know about Diablo 4?
When is the release? The release date of Diablo 4 has not yet been announced. However, we know for sure that Diablo 4 will not be released in 2021, as Blizzard announced.
What classes will be available at release? It has been announced that there will be five classes that you can play directly at the release of Diablo 4. So far, the Druid, Barbarian, and Sorceress have been introduced. The Rogue is newly included.

How do items work? The focus of Diablo has always been on farming special items. However, the legendary equipment parts will be changed in Diablo IV.
They will no longer have static affixes but random ones. The “Uniques,” the unique items, are also returning. They will have 4 legendary affixes and are intended to be the strongest and rarest items in Diablo 4. Learn here, how Diablo 4 changes the legendary items.
This is what builds bring: The items are supposed to support your playstyle but not define it. There should be great freedom for players with builds. The skill system in Diablo 4 is supposed to allow complex builds. The skill trees are returning, where you can distribute points. You can actively use skills or place them in the enchantment slot, allowing the ability to be used differently.
