If you’ve followed the 2 rules and summoned the Primeval as the first team, you can finish the match in just a few seconds.
First, take out the two witches that appear alongside the boss. Once you’ve defeated the so-called Primeval Envoys, you’ll receive a buff. This allows you to deal more damage to the boss. The buff is stackable and gives you more bonus damage for each new witch kill. With the right setup, you will only need 10 seconds anyway.
This is how it goes quickly against the boss:
- Take out the witches, for example with a rocket launcher.
- A Guardian shoots at the boss with the Tractor Cannon.
- Activate the Thundercrash with the Titan exotic Helm of Saint-14.
- If the whole team does this, the boss is instantly dead, and the match is over.
Of course, there are other methods to take down the boss quickly. The exotic sword “The Lament” can quickly chew through the boss’s health with the help of the Warlock Well.

In Destiny 2, Guardians are currently busy playing Gambit to obtain a coveted weapon. The first few minutes often determine victory or defeat. MeinMMO shows you in this guide how to greatly improve your chances.
You probably know this: You want to play some Gambit to earn the coveted Last Dollar or to grab some top loot for the week. And then you get mercilessly crushed, of course in record time.
Since its restructuring with Beyond Light, Gambit has become significantly faster. Matches in the PvEvP mode can be over in just a few minutes, and the boss can meet his demise in only a few seconds if you know what to do. The first few minutes are arguably the most crucial in the match.
At the beginning, it is quite easy to give your team a huge advantage and increase your chances of winning. The winning strategy can be distilled down to 2 rules that enable you to “win almost every Gambit match”.
These are the 2 rules:
- Be the first team to deposit 25 motes
- Be the first invader
That’s it. If you play by this creed, you usually have the upper hand and “snowball” through the entire mode. Of course, this works easily in a full fireteam of 4 Guardians who communicate. But it can also be done with complete blueberries, meaning random teammates. This is how you should play Gambit: It is truly important to fill the bank first. It hardly matters whether you send large blockers first; no, preparing for the first invasion should be the goal of every player. The first invasion is usually possible when you’ve defeated the first wave of enemies and new foes spawn elsewhere on the map.
- Now, it becomes important for each player to check the mote count of all Guardians and the bank.
- If you see that your team has collected 22 motes and you have 4, deposit them! Don’t waste another second collecting another mote for a small shield goblin.
- If you see a teammate running to the bank with 15 motes and another one with 10 – great – you can keep fighting. However, if you see that they are charging towards a horde of enemy blockers, run with them, clear the bank, and secure the invasion.
Just remember: The first invader is much more important than your blocker. At this point, a plea to the Guardians who always think they need to collect 10 or even 15 motes when they are at 97 motes – please deposit! You appear foolish in the eyes of your team and give the enemy a real chance to turn the tide – as quickly as Primevals die in Season 13.
Why is the invader so important?
The invader has perhaps the most important job in the game. He makes it harder for the other team and secures time for his own team to kill enemies easily.
What does it ideally look like? The invader gets the first heavy ammo that appears in the game. Coincidentally, the delivery arrives just as you have defeated the first wave of enemies and should be depositing motes. If you see a Guardian with an exotic rocket launcher in the heavy ammo – let him have it.
- If you are the first invader, you are specifically targeting those Guardians who thought it was wise to collect 15 motes instead of depositing when standing at 20 at the bank.
- If a team really loses 15 motes, the previous player’s work is basically for nothing, and the bank doesn’t get filled.
- Without a full bank, you can’t summon a Primeval. Without killing the Primeval, you can’t win. You see the problem.
This is psychological warfare: Even if the invader doesn’t get a kill, he massively slows down the opposing team. The fear of getting headshot makes many players take cover for the entire 30 seconds during the invasion. During this time, they kill and collect nothing. When the first invader returns from his scavenging, he can usually attack again immediately, as his team has diligently collected motes in the meantime.
This is the snowball effect that often decides the Gambit match right at the first invasion. Of course, there is no guarantee of winning; something can always go wrong. But if you play by the 2 rules, your chances will significantly increase. It would only be unfortunate if the invader doesn’t get a kill and is taken out immediately. Then the invasion would be wasted, and the enemy would try to turn the tide.

The invader comes with wallhacks on the enemy map. That’s really nasty, but with the right weapons, it gets even nastier:
- Eyes of Tomorrow: This exotic rocket launcher can lock onto all 4 enemies at once and the shots track the poor victims as well
- Truth: This exotic rocket launcher only tracks one enemy but does so very aggressively and quickly
- Xenophage: The unlimited range and high damage of this machine gun ensure that enemy Guardians fall after just 2 hits, no matter where you hit them. If they are in cover, the explosive damage often deals damage even there.
- Sniper Rifle or Scout Rifle: Any sniper who knows exactly where his enemies are on a large map has enormous advantages.
