However, MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch has had some bad experiences in recent days. He finds that there are still too many things in the game that sabotage playing in a group.
What makes New World a social MMO? Basically, New World has many aspects where players need to team up, reminiscent of old school MMORPGs:
There are many elite mobs, bosses, and world events in the world that can be difficult or impossible to handle alone.
The dungeons do not have an LFG tool; instead, players have to actively seek out their group.
Crafting and trading play an important role.
There is a proximity voice chat that allows you to communicate directly in-game.
In the endgame, you conquer and defend towns and fortresses together with your guild/faction.
The company that controls a settlement can even impose its own stamp on it by taxing and expanding the settlement according to its own priorities.
Then what’s the problem? While it is worth being out with a group and company for all these aspects, the game otherwise sabotages the group experience on several levels.
Some of these elements have personally frustrated me quite a bit.

What is the problem at the start? The starting areas in New World are randomly assigned to each player after the tutorial. So if you want to start in a group, you often find yourselves in completely different locations on the map.
In this quest, you have to press leave if you want to play together with friends early on. Then you have to walk all the way to the starting area of your teammates.
I was already aware of this issue from the beta and thus arranged to meet up with a friend in Everfall after joining a faction. Before that, we completely quested separately, which simply goes much faster and easier.
The solution to the problem would actually be quite simple. Players could be allowed to choose in which of the areas they want to start after the tutorial. This way, playing in a group would be much simpler.
Faction missions, but everyone gets their own
What is the problem with faction missions? Once you have joined one of the 3 factions, you can complete the so-called faction missions. But here it becomes artificially complicated.
Each player is offered their own missions. While they sometimes overlap with those of group members, often they do not. Then everyone in the group must embark on different missions. Not exactly conducive to group play.
Here too, a solution would be quite simple: sharing quests with the group. But such a feature does not currently exist. It would be useful not only for faction missions but also for general side quests.

The struggle for materials and a dreadful quest
What is the problem with materials? All resources in New World spawn at fixed locations. But only one player can gather them. When a group sets out and wants to level crafting together, they steal resources from each other.
This is particularly a problem with the annoying quest “The Weakness of the Ego”. Unless you purchase the materials directly from the trading post, you should split up in different directions for this quest and begin searching for materials.
My experience was similarly frustrating in a faction quest where I had to kill and skin a mini-boss. The magnetite grizzly is a rather grim fellow, not someone you want to tackle alone. The problem is that only the player who skins the dead grizzly fulfills the quest.
This led to a situation where my four random allies were actively fighting but suddenly stopped in the last third of the bear and were already pressing the E key to skin the dead animal. Similar scenarios occur repeatedly in the “kill and skin” quests.
An MMO where group members work against each other is quite challenging in my opinion. Thus, to level crafting, I separated from my group and set out alone. Here New World could take a cue from Guild Wars 2, where every player gathers materials just for themselves.

However, if one faction constantly has 1,000+ players on the servers, it can quickly become boring for the opposing factions because they are always outnumbered.

What happens in the winding abyss? For the new abyss, the monthly blessings have been leaked. Every update has a new monthly blessing in the winding abyss every two weeks. In Update 2.2, they are as follows:
1. Monthly blessing: If a character has 50% or more health points, they receive a combat bonus of 6.5% per second. Ten stackings are possible this way. If health points fall below 30%, all stacks are removed (via Twitter)
2. Monthly blessing: If a character has full health points, they receive a stacking of “Blessed Effusion” per second. Ten stackings are possible this way. If you use a special ability, you receive a damage bonus of 5% per stacking for 10 seconds. During these 10 seconds, you cannot collect additional stackings of “Blessed Effusion” (via Twitter)
3. Monthly blessing: Characters with 50% or more health points emit shockwaves that deal damage to nearby opponents. If the health points are full, the shockwaves deal about 66.6% more damage (via Twitter)

On October 5, 2021, the World Championships in League of Legends will start. We at MeinMMO are looking at the betting odds to see which team has the best chances of winning the LoL Worlds 2021. Who will be the stars in LoL? Which legends and newcomers should we keep an eye on? What are the chances for the Germans?
When do the LoL Worlds 2021 take place:
The World Championship begins on October 5 with the Play-Ins.
It ends on November 6, 2021, with the grand final.
The WC takes place in Reyjvkaviv, Iceland. A total of 22 teams from 11 regions will participate in the tournament.
The 3 top favorites are all from Asia
These teams are favored to win the LoL Worlds 2021: The bookmakers have identified three clear favorites ahead of the start of the World Championship:
FunPlus Phoenix has the best chances of victory – this is the Chinese world champion from 2019
DWG KIA comes in close second – the reigning world champion from South Korea
Edward Gaming is in third place – a very strong team from China that flies under the radar because it doesn’t have the big stars like the other two teams
The “undying demon king,” Faker, is considered a co-favorite for the title.

Who comes next? Outsider chances are given to 5 other teams:
What about the teams from the USA? All teams from the USA are given terrible odds by the bookmakers to win the Worlds. They are all considered to be on equally weak levels. They are by far the weakest teams in the major regions.
Even the weakest team from Korea, Hamwha Life (the Church of Chovy) still has significantly higher chances of winning the LoL Worlds than the nominally strongest team from the USA, 100 Thieves.
Here it would be a success if a US team even makes it out of the group phase.
What about the teams from Europe? MAD Lions are indeed regarded as co-favorites. They are expected to reach the semifinals.
Doinb – could become the most important player of the LoL Worlds.
Duos from Midlane and Jungle could dominate LoL Worlds 2021
Who will be the stars of the Worlds 2021? It seems that midlaners and junglers will again dominate these worlds.
The favorites FunPlus Phoenix and DWG KIA both have excellent duos in these positions:
For FunPlus Phoenix, “Super-Carry” Doinb plays in the Midlane. He roams the map. Experts believe he is even stronger in 2021 than in 2019. Doinb has an exceptionally high KDA value of 6.4 – only “knight” (Top-Esports) can compete with that value. However, he did not qualify for the Worlds this year.
In addition, Doinb is complemented by the flexible jungler Tian, who became Finals MVP in 2019. However, his statistics in China this year seem rather mediocre. Other junglers like Jiejie (Edward Gaming), Wei (Royal Never Give Up), or Tarzan (LNG Esports) all had a higher KDA than he did.
In recent years, junglers have dominated the Worlds in LoL.
At DWG Kia, Showmaker plays in the Midlane. He is considered one of the mechanically strongest players in the world. Showmaker had a KDA value of 6.0, which was by far the best among all midlaners in the summer season of the LCK.
Who are the great legends still playing? Many of the big stars from LoL have since retired. Bjergsen and Doublelift, Uzi and Wolf have all ended their careers in recent years. Although Bjergsen is apparently considering a return.
The midlaner “Faker” (25) remains the biggest name in League of Legends. The South Korean won three world championships by 2016 and has been chasing title number four since then. In 2021, he was able to qualify for the LoL Worlds again with T1 and dreams of making LoL history again with a fourth world title. By now, the “undying demon king” increasingly seems like a “quite killable demon lord.”
With the botlaner “Ruler” (22), an ADC plays at the LoL Worlds who was part of the group that snatched the world championship title from Faker in 2017.
At the Worlds 2021, the Croatian Perkz (22) plays for the US team Cloud 9: He is one of the best LoL players Europe has ever produced.
The ADC of Fnatic, Upset, is currently on a really good run.
We could even see German players in the semifinals
Better chances are for the ADC of Fnatic, Elias “Upset” Lipp. With PSG Talon, they have a manageable task ahead, but against “Royal Never Give Up” it could be close. The question remains who will be drawn as the 4th team in group C. If it is “Hamwha Life,” the Church of Chovy, it could get tight for Fnatic as well. However, the quarter-finals should be achievable.
The best chances of going far lie with the support player Norman “Kaiser” Kaiser. He is competing with the MAD Lions in Group D. Here awaits an opponent that they should dominate, “Team Liquid.” Gen G. from South Korea also seems manageable. The MAD Lions could play a good role in the LoL Worlds 2021 – probably as the only team from the West.
A few years ago, it still looked as if teams from Europe and the USA could keep up with the Asians in the long term. Because in 2017, Korea had serious problems as the old players were no longer good enough and the young players were not yet good enough. But China has caught up significantly in recent years – and the new generation in Korea has now found new strength, while the “big names” in Europe must restructure and the USA apparently struggles with structural problems.
