When does the event start? The Smoke Day takes place on December 5, 2021, starting at 11:00 AM local time. You will have a full 6 hours to catch as many monsters as possible before the event ends at 5:00 PM.
Smoke Day with Quiekel
The focus of tomorrow’s Smoke Day will be the Ice and Ground Pokémon Quiekel. It will be catchable throughout the day, for the entire 6 hours, using smoke. The monster from Generation 2 can evolve from Keifel into Mamutel.
Is it strong? Quiekel and Keifel are generally considered weaker monsters in the game and are not used in raids or the PvP league. However, this is not the case for Mamutel, the final evolution of Quiekel.
But not only in raids can you confidently rely on Mamutel. It can also impress in the Master League and is considered one of the top contenders (via pvpoke.com).
Is there a shiny Quiekel? Yes, with a bit of luck you may encounter a shiny version. You can recognize it by its green body.

Other Spawns for the Smoke Day
Which monsters will there be? During the Smoke Day, in addition to Quiekel, you will encounter numerous other Ice and Ground Pokémon. These will also be attracted by your smoke. You can also look forward to the following monsters:
Ice Pokémon: Jurob*, Rossana*, Sniebel*, Schneppke*, Gelatini, and Galar-Flampion
Ground Pokémon: Onix*, Tragosso*, Rihorn*, Felino*, Phanpy, Schmerbe*, and Larvitar*
All monsters that you can encounter in their shiny form with a bit of luck are marked with a (*).
Unlike what you may be used to from other events like Community Day, the selected monsters will not spawn over the entire time. With the exception of Quiekel, the remaining Ice and Ground Pokémon will have the following time distribution.

Is the charge move Antique Power worth it?
If you evolve Keifel into Mamutel during the event, it will receive the charge move Antique Power. This attack is a Rock-type attack. Mamutel is already one of the strongest attackers in the game without this attack. With the new charge move, you can deal 45 damage in Trainer battles and 70 damage in raids or gym battles.
If you’re battling against other trainers, you should rather rely on Mamutel’s strong Ice attack. If a Rock attack is needed in combat, you’re better off with Stone Edge, as it deals significantly more damage with a bit more energy expenditure.
In raids and gym battles, however, the new attack can be useful as it charges quickly and deals good damage there.
