The MMORPG Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore has entered Open Alpha on Steam. The game is aimed at hardcore players who enjoy more challenge and teamwork in their games.
This is Ethyrial: The new MMORPG Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore places you in the dangerous world of Irmesa. You start on a lonely island and must slowly make your way through the areas to reach the continent.
The areas are divided into different biomes, such as tundra, deserts, swamps, etc., where you can complete various quests.
The catch with Ethyrial is the high difficulty level of the game. The developers specifically warn that their MMORPG primarily targets hardcore players who do not mind enduring painful losses upon death.
Death in the game leads to the loss of EXP and random items, which you can pick up again unless someone else has already done so. The risk is high, but the feeling of success is said to be enhanced as a result, according to the developers.
Additionally, there is a strong focus on teamwork and playing together with others. During instances, players must work closely together to succeed. And here, too, death has serious consequences:
If a player dies, their EXP loss is shared among the entire group.
If the group successfully completes the dungeon and can resurrect the player, the players will receive a portion of that lost EXP back.
In PvE, Ethyrial aims to offer many boss fights within dungeons and a coliseum arena, which you can face either alone or with a group. PvP fans, on the other hand, can compete against each other in different arenas and fight for the top spots on the ladder.

What payment system does Ethyrial use? The access to the open alpha is free. After the release, the developers plan to introduce a subscription model like WoW or FFXIV. There will also be a shop, which will not include EXP boosts or similar gameplay aids.
How to participate in the alpha: The alpha of Ethyrial is open to everyone, so to participate, you only need to go to the Steam page of the game and click the green “Request Access” button at the bottom.
After that, you can download the game, install it, and get started right away. The alpha will last a whole month. So you have plenty of time to explore the game and try out different features.
With Elden Ring, FromSoftware has gone all out and created not only a gigantic world but also lifted all barriers of the familiar Souls series. Despite the huge freedom, our MeinMMO author Christos Tsogos believes that Elden Ring cannot offer replay value.
The world of Elden Ring is impressively large, tells a mysterious story in an exciting way, and features spectacular boss battles. These reasons should actually be enough for me to want to explore the fantastic Lands Between over and over again. However, for me, the air in Elden Ring is already out after just one playthrough.
MeinMMO author Christos Tsogos has spent thousands of hours in various branches of the Souls series. However, Elden Ring has completely disappointed him regarding its replay value.
For although the world is packed with great content, Elden Ring has nothing that makes it worth spending dozens more hours in New Game Plus. This is particularly regrettable because especially the Dark Souls parts could excite me repeatedly for years.
What I miss most are Oaths, so-called factions to which I could join and serve. With them, you were rewarded whether you helped other players honorably or hypocritically destroyed them in an invasion. As a reward, you received Oath items that you could redeem at various altars to gain important items for trophies. However, there are no direct Oaths in the Lands Between.
You can only equip Great Runes in Elden Ring and either support players with the right multiplayer items or invade their worlds. Neither Oath rewards nor other items are given to you when you’ve proven yourself – only lousy Rune bows, of which you are anyways overwhelmed.
However, this was one of the highlights for me in Dark Souls 1-3. Either protecting the Darkroot Garden or confronting PvP groups in Anor Londo that outnumbered you. However, this is not the case in the new installment, as such mechanics have been completely omitted.
There are also many locations for self-organized PvP arenas in Elden Ring, but these are too small due to the maximum limit of 4 players. Since the map and the overall volume of the new action RPG appeared overwhelming, my disappointment grew even more when the maximum player number in co-op and PvP was revealed.
Not even trophies require effort
Another reason is the too easy completion of trophies in such a brutally difficult game. In Dark Souls 3, for example, you needed all 107 rings for the achievement “Master of Rings,” which could only be found through further journeys into New Game Plus – in Elden Ring, there are only eight measly legendary talismans. Once you have them, the trophy is yours. This can be achieved in one playthrough.
Such trophy requirements used to motivate me in the old Souls parts. They didn’t have an open world but rather a comparatively small and restricted world, but I still always felt: “I still have so much to do.”
The platinum trophies felt rewarding and fitting for the investment made, but in Elden Ring, I felt rather shortchanged. Little effort for a trophy that everyone can get.
There were also no secret items to discover, like in Dark Souls 2. In Elden Ring, you go into New Game Plus, go through the story again, collect the same items, and that’s it. No new secrets to discover that would justify another playthrough of the story.
Elden Ring is of course not called “Dark Souls,” and it doesn’t have to be the same. But those who know Dark Souls notice how much character from the original older installments is present in the new title of the brilliant Souls creators. The more disappointing it is when the only overwhelming feature of Elden Ring is the large map with its various dungeons.
Nevertheless, I still hope that Elden Ring could offer more variety in the future. DLCs have not been confirmed, but almost every successful title from FromSoftware has received at least one. Since the action RPG enjoys great popularity and many elements, like the large arenas, are still unused, DLCs cannot be ruled out.
The large map of Elden Ring still has enough space for DLCs
With updates, quests are still being completed, like that of the small vessel child or patches of the rogue. Elden Ring has not yet arrived in its final form. So it’s still exciting whether more content will be added that contributes to replay value.
What do you think about the replayability in Elden Ring? Do you agree with me that the new FromSoftware title is missing something that makes it more attractive for further playthroughs? Or are you already so satisfied with what Elden Ring has to offer? Let us know in the comments!

The pirate game Skull and Bones by Ubisoft has been in development for already 6 years. A leaked trailer now shows gameplay for the first time, which partially resembles Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
This is what the leak reveals: After many years of silence, there is now new information about the lost multiplayer game, Skull and Bones, from Ubisoft. A Reddit user leaked a whopping 6 minutes of gameplay footage in the subreddit r/GamingLeaksandRumours.
The video shows a “Technical Test Build” of the game, accompanied by comments on features and gameplay, and seems to be a kind of unreleased trailer. The gameplay, animations, and UI strongly resemble Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Originally, Skull and Bones was intended to be a spin-off of AC4, but it was expanded into a standalone game.
The setting of the game places you in the Indian Ocean during the “Golden Age of Piracy.” You start as a small unknown pirate and work your way up by plundering other ships, hoarding treasures, and generally behaving like a real pirate.
You can complete missions alone or in groups of up to three players, which give you loot and reputation.
There will be world events that players can participate in.
A crafting system allows you to create new ships, outfits, ammunition, and provisions for your journeys.
You can collect resources such as wood and valuable minerals or hunt animals for meat and leather.
A mood system shows you how well your crew is feeling. If you don’t provide for them, they can mutiny and take over the ship.
Your ship can be equipped with cannons and tailored to specific needs.
If you lose your ship, you also lose part of the reputation and goods that you have plundered. You can recover this part by returning to the place where your ship sank, but other players can do that too.
https://streamable.com/5xh1hc
How reliable is this leak? Ubisoft has already confirmed that the leak contains footage from Skull and Bones. In a statement to Kotaku, Ubisoft announced:
We confirm that this is a small glimpse into our upcoming game, Skull and Bones. We recently conducted a technical test for the game, and some details of that have been made public. This footage comes from an early version of the game and does not reflect the quality and features of the final game. We will share more details about the game soon.
Therefore, the information from the leak should still be taken with caution, as it is unclear which features will make it into the final game.
More about multiplayer games on MeinMMO can be found here:
When will Skull and Bones be released? There is still no release date and no approximate timeframe for when the game might be released. After Skull and Bones has been postponed multiple times and even rebooted in 2020, the chances of an imminent release seem rather slim.
However, the official Twitter account of the game tweeted after the leak that players should “keep their eyes on the horizon.” And according to the PR statement from Ubisoft, there should be “new official information soon.”
In Pokémon GO, it is now clear that Alolan Grimer is the research breakthrough for May 2022. We show you all the info about the timeframe, Shinies, and strength.
What is a research breakthrough? When you complete a field research task in Pokémon GO, you can earn a maximum of one stamp per day. Upon reaching seven stamps, you achieve a research breakthrough. For this, you are rewarded with extra experience points, stardust, and an encounter with a selected Pokémon.
Every month, the Pokémon encounter changes. In May, you will encounter Alolan Grimer.
Breakthrough with Alolan Grimer in May – Timeframe, Shinies
How long is the breakthrough available? You can receive Alolan Grimer as a research breakthrough from May 1 at 10:00 PM (wait a few minutes after 10 PM just in case). It will remain the reward for one month and will disappear again on June 1 at 10:00 PM. After that, the next Pokémon will follow, which is currently unknown. The research breakthrough until May 1 is Alolan Marowak.
Can it be Shiny? Yes, you can receive a shiny Alolan Grimer as part of the reward. In the following graphic, we show you how it differs from its normal form:
Alolan Grimer and Alolan Muk in their normal form (left) and as Shiny (right)
How strong is it? Alolan Grimer itself is not particularly strong. Its evolution, Alolan Muk, is significantly better.
As a PvE attacker in raids, Alolan Muk performs only moderately well with its Dark and Poison types.
In PvP at the Great League, Alolan Muk reaches the upper middle tier. Although there are better attackers in the meta, with its only weakness against Ground, Alolan Muk is a solid choice.
In PvP at the Ultra League, Alolan Muk comes close to being one of the best attackers. You have a really good chance against Giratina and Cresselia with this Pokémon.
For the Master League in PvP, however, Alolan Muk is not recommended at all.
How do you like the breakthrough in May? Do you think it’s good that Niantic brings various Alolan Pokémon as breakthroughs in the Alola season, or do you still wish for the good old times when legendary Pokémon were breakthroughs?
Share your opinion on the latest research breakthroughs here on MeinMMO in the comments and discuss with other trainers.

Halo Infinite is a game with a lot of mechanical depth. Professionals use numerous small and large tricks to be among the absolute best in the shooter. MeinMMO author Marko Jevtic reveals to you the 8 most important tips to instantly improve your game.
Update from April 30, 2022: In line with the HCS Kansas City Major, we are bringing this article back up and updating it regarding the latest balancing updates.
Especially for beginners, Halo Infinite can be challenging to play. The combination of slow time-to-kill, unique shield mechanics, a particular community, and many niche weapons makes it very difficult to get started in this arena shooter.
However, if you know a few important things, you will immediately improve your gameplay. I will show you the most important ones here.
Who is writing here? Marko has been writing as a shooter expert for MeinMMO since October 2021, but has been a huge Halo fan since day one. Since the release of the original in 2001, he has played every Halo game intensely and competitively. He is also a big fan of the Halo Esports scene and follows it regularly. In Halo Infinite, he prefers to play with mouse & keyboard and is Onyx-ranked.
The tips and tricks mentioned here, I mostly learned over the years by watching the tournaments and streams of the biggest Esports professionals in Halo. YouTuber StandardAce has also created a playlistt with over 70 short videos that showcase tricks that are both helpful and effective.
Thanks to these techniques, I play Halo at a very high level. If you follow them, you too will instantly improve your gameplay.

This trick is one of the absolute basics of Halo, but it can be very hard to unlearn basic shooter rules.
Due to the shield mechanics, headshots in Halo only deal more damage when the shield is broken, or if you have the sniper or shock rifle. That’s why it’s important to shoot as much for the chest of your opponents as possible, especially with weapons like the assault rifle and battle rifle.
This maximizes your hit rate on the shield until it is broken. Only then do you aim quickly for the head and kill with many weapons with a precise headshot. This trick is one of the fundamental rules in Halo that every player must know.
With the next trick, you can enhance this technique even more.
2. Learn the hidden strengths of the weapons
In Halo Infinite, some weapons have hidden strengths that you should know and utilize. The pistol, for example, has one of the fastest TTK in the game, killing with just one headshot; the assault rifle, on the other hand, requires 3 headshots but makes destroying shields easier. Therefore, you should break the shield with the assault rifle, and then quickly switch to the pistol for that one lethal headshot.
The same goes for the pulse rifle. On its own, it is not a good weapon because it only excels at breaking shields. However, when combined with a headshot killer like the battle rifle or the pistol, you can have a very quick victory over your opponents.
3. Throw away your weapons for a quick kill
One of the oldest tricks in the shooter genre is that switching weapons is always faster than reloading. This is also true in Halo Infinite, but there’s another aspect to consider:
Throwing away weapons is even faster than reloading and even faster than switching weapons. How much faster, you can see in this video:

If you combine this trick with the knowledge from Tricks 1 and 2, you will immediately be better than most of your opponents. Break the shield with body shots from the assault rifle, throw the weapon away, and quickly shoot with the pistol at the head. This way, you will become a dominant force in Halo Infinite.
Therefore, we recommend setting the “Throw Weapons” function in the options menu to a convenient button:
My recommendation for PC: “T,” because it’s right next to the reload button, plus you can easily remember it as “T = Throw.”
My recommendation for the controller: D-pad down or D-pad right. The standard inputs there are not relevant in multiplayer. With the paddles from the Elite controller, throwing away weapons works even better.
One of the most common mistakes that players make in Halo Infinite is that they sprint almost constantly across the map. While this enables strong slides, it has 3 major disadvantages:
Your footsteps are louder
After a sprint, it takes you longer to fire
With a flag in hand, opponents can see your position
If you run instead of sprint, you are quieter and can shoot faster. This makes it easier to surprise your opponents and land the first shot – giving you a significant advantage in a fight.
Furthermore, sprints are only about 9 – 10% faster than running (via YouTube). Especially if you expect to see an opponent soon, you shouldn’t blindly sprint around the corner.
To better combat this bad habit, it may be helpful to turn off the “Maintain Sprint” setting in the options menu.
5. Look down to survive
If your shield is broken and you want to run away, you should definitely look at the ground. Because as soon as you aim at the ground, your character also lowers its head. This reduces the target area of your hitbox for the opponent. Professionals call this trick “hitbox manipulation”.
This is what the difference looks like in-game:
Head looking up, easier to hitHead looking down, harder to hit
Especially when you are only showing your back, your opponent has a significantly harder time hitting your head. By simply adjusting the camera movement, you have made your hitbox much smaller, greatly increasing your chances of survival.
6. Pull your legs up while jumping
This trick is also known from games like Half-Life or Counter-Strike. Basically, it works like a box jump in the gym: you pull your legs up while jumping to reach a high platform.
You do this by pressing the crouch button while jumping – ideally at the highest point of your jump. This way, your Spartan pulls up his legs and lands acrobatically on a ledge.
With this technique, you can avoid the slow and dangerous climbing animation in many situations in the game. This video shows what a big difference it can make.

I therefore also recommend turning off the “Auto Climb” setting in the options menu.
7. Make your opponent more visible with weapon offsets
In the options menu, you will find a setting that can be extremely important. Since your weapon in the HUD in Halo Infinite by default takes up a lot of space, there is a chance that it may hide an opponent. With the right settings, you can clear your screen, so to speak.
These images exemplify the difference with the repulsor equipment that can be found on this map in front of the building entrance.
Default settings: The power-up is hiddenCustomized settings: The power-up is visible
These settings can make a huge difference. This way, you reduce the chances of your weapon hiding an opponent.
Select the following settings in the options menu under UI → Weapon Offset for each weapon type. Note that the values for vertical and depth offsets are negative:
Horizontal offset: 100%
Vertical offset: – 100%
Depth offset: – 100 %
8. Learn “Flag Juggling”
In Capture The Flag, many players make the same mistake: they grab the flag and then just run straight ahead. Much faster and safer, however, is the so-called “flag juggling”.
With “flag juggling,” you repeatedly throw the flag forward by pressing the “switch weapon” button at the highest point of a jump. This way, the flag flies at high speed in your running direction so you can repeatedly pick it up and throw it again.
This is not only a faster method but also a safer one because you keep your weapon in hand. An impressive example of this technique can be seen in this clip from Halo professional Eric “Snip3down” Wrona:

This technique is not complicated. With very little practice, you’ll be significantly better in this important game mode. This benefits not only you but also your team.
These are the 8 most important tricks and tips that will make you immediately better in Halo Infinite. Did you already know all of them? Or maybe you know even more? Feel free to let me know in the comments!
Another important thing to keep in mind is your preferred control method. Because although Halo Infinite can also be played easily and very well with mouse & keyboard, controller players have a significant advantage. Why that is proven, you can learn here:
Even though the announcement of the new Retail expansion “Dragonflight” took up the lion’s share of the developer stream a few days ago, there was also a significant announcement for all WoW Classic fans. The expansion “Wrath of the Lich King” will also receive the Classic treatment: Soon, it will be heading to Northrend.
However, one of the most controversial features of Wrath of the Lich King will not come: the Dungeon Finder. According to the developers, it simply does not fit with the Classic feeling.
What was the Dungeon Finder? The Dungeon Finder was introduced relatively late in the course of Wrath of the Lich King. Its introduction is considered one of the most significant events in the history of World of Warcraft. Some celebrated its introduction and were finally able to experience dungeons, while others viewed it as the “first step towards the downfall of WoW”.
The Dungeon Finder allowed players to open a menu from anywhere in the world and sign up for a dungeon. The tool then searches for other players with the same dungeon wish and assembles a suitable group. Once enough players are found, you are teleported directly to the dungeon and can get started, before being teleported back to the starting point at the end of the dungeon.
Why was the Dungeon Finder so controversial? For many players, it’s simply part of WoW to spend a longer period of time finding a group. The shared journey to the dungeon and, above all, the communication with group members are essential components of the social experience of World of Warcraft. Friendships and guilds were often formed because players spent a lot of time together, which practically forced them into the Classic game design. A quick “in and out” dungeon feature ruins and prevents such experiences.
Especially for players with less time or those who simply do not want to communicate much with others, the Dungeon Finder was popular. You could quickly find a group without having to spend a long time traveling or searching for suitable players.
More about WoW – Retail and Classic – can be found here:
Why are the developers leaving out the Dungeon Finder? In an interview with PCGamesN Magazine, Kevin Vigue spoke about the topic. He explained:
I met people in dungeons who then became lifelong friends. For me, that’s something that makes Classic great and a lot of it goes back to how you meet other people [in the game]. […]
Would it feel like Classic if we had the automated Dungeon Finder that came in Patch 3.3 of Wrath of the Lich King? We have decided that this is not the game we want to make.
What is WoW Classic doing instead? Instead of implementing the Dungeon Finder, the developers prefer to expand the functionality of the group search tool. Some modernizations are planned so that it is easier to find like-minded players.
We want to improve the tool so that players can still find groups with like-minded players who want to experience the same content as they do. But we want to do it in a way that feels “more Classic” and still maintains that social element, where you still travel to the dungeon together and have conversations, because that is what makes Classic stand out and is so special.
The group search tool already simplifies finding groups, but it requires active participation from the players. There is no automatic assignment, and group leaders manually select their members.
When is WotLK Classic supposed to launch? There is no exact date yet, but the launch should only be a few months away. Because the announcement trailer speaks of a release date still in 2022. At the latest by Christmas, you should all be able to venture into the icy expanses of Northrend once again to blow out the life lights of the Lich King.
Are you looking forward to Wrath of the Lich King Classic? Or will you not play without the Dungeon Finder?

Out of nowhere, Blizzard announced that the upcoming Diablo Immortal will now also be released for PC. Many readers on MeinMMO were surprised and want to give the ARPG a chance after all. But where will it be?
With the announcement of the release on June 2, Blizzard stated that Diablo Immortal will be available on Android, iOS, and PC. After many years during which it was treated as a mobile MMO, hardly anyone expected this.
However, it is now the case and even comes with crossplay and cross-save. You can play with friends and acquaintances across platforms and easily take your progress from your home PC on the go with you.
The system requirements for PC are actually quite low, so even weak and old computers can keep up easily. Diablo Immortal seems to aim to appeal to as many players as possible across all available platforms.
We would therefore like to know from you: Will you be playing Diablo Immortal, and if so, where? Feel free to write us more about your decision in the comments and discuss with other fans or those who still need to be convinced.
New controls for PC – But what’s inside?
As a mobile game, Diablo Immortal comes to smartphones and tablets with familiar touch controls. For PC, a new WASD control scheme is being introduced, which sounds a bit like Lost Ark. We haven’t had the chance to test it yet.
Both versions should also offer full controller support. As Diablo 3 on console and Diablo 2: Resurrected showed, the ARPG is well-suited for gamepad control. In our special, we already present 5 things you need to know before the release of Diablo Immortal.
Here you can learn in 3 minutes what Diablo Immortal has to offer:

Everything you need to know about Diablo Immortal – in 3 minutes
Immortal will be a true MMO, which is also reflected in the content. You will find dungeons, raids, and even PvP for groups and guilds, as well as familiar features like rifts and bounties. We have already spoken with the developers about what makes the game so special:
Social interaction is just as much in focus as the hunt for the coveted loot, which is the foundation of every Diablo. Although you can manage to get through solo, you have significantly better chances with friends and helpers.
The approach of turning Diablo into an MMO has long been a wish for many fans of the series. For us, it is a reason to consider the game one of the most promising new releases of 2022:

The best way to acquire TOTS cards is currently indeed the Weekend League. Unlike other promotions, TOTS cards are directly included in Player Picks, which you can earn with as many wins as possible.
The Icon Swaps packs are also perfect for creating a kind of pack foundation for TOTS:

Trials of Osiris on April 29 – May 3 – Map, Weapons, and Info
Before the Guardian Games 2022 start, you can still play the Trials of Osiris, simply referred to as “Trials”. The 14th Saint wants you to improve, and so the best Guardians gather there to compete against each other. If you have nerves of steel, then you can venture into this tactical game.
Which map is on the agenda this week? Every weekend, you only play on a designated map. This week, you’ll be playing on the Dead Cliffs.
The Dead Cliffs are the map in the Trials until Tuesday.
If you are interested in playing the Trials as a team, we recommend Guardians the Callout Maps via Warmind. This way you can properly describe to your fireteam where the enemies are located on the map, which provides useful information for the entire team.
This is how you get your loot: The Trials of Osiris feature a rank system. Your top loot reward from the PvP matches is currently available for:
Seven wins
50 rounds
as well as the infamous flawless run, which leads you to the Lighthouse
This is the reward for a flawless run: Each week you can also expect a very special weapon at the Lighthouse, which you receive for your flawless run, meaning 7 wins, as a master version. This week, it’s the pulse rifle “The Messenger”. You can earn the weapon until the upcoming Tuesday at 7 PM.
“The Messenger” – The Trials pulse rifle
All Trials weapons have a Trials origin perk: “Quickdraw” – Improves reload speed, stability, aim assistance, and range when you are the last remaining member of your fireteam or fighting alone.
If you have received your desired weapon, you can focus your Trials Engrams at the 14th Saint on your desired weapon. Additionally, you will receive enhancement prisms and ascendant shards. Remember that your rewards increase even more once you have a full pass – even if you have lost one or two games.
When do the Trials start? The Trials (Trials of Osiris) start this Friday at the daily reset at 7 PM.
Are you satisfied with Xur’s offerings again after he had been weak for a few weeks? Let us know in the comments what you picked up from him last week or before and what you would like to see in his offerings. We are happy to pass it on to the old Xur.

The bosses in Elden Ring represent the most important and special moments in the game. These nasty characters test your skills, drive the story of the game forward, and impress with fantastic presentation. MeinMMO author Marko Jevtic tells you which 5 bosses have blown him away the most.
To say that Elden Ring has some bosses is an understatement. Depending on how you count them, it has significantly more than all previous Souls games combined. And with all this quantity comes a lot of quality.
In particular, a handful of bosses completely blew me away in the game – in several senses of the word. Whether it’s moveset, presentation, lore, soundtrack, or a crisp level of difficulty, everything just worked for me with these opponents. That’s why I want to introduce you to my 5 favorite bosses from Elden Ring.
Keep in mind that this contains spoilers. So if you are new and want to be surprised by the boss battles, you should not continue reading.
This selection is based on the author’s personal opinion after 2 playthroughs of the entire game and is purely subjective. How well a boss resonates with each player depends on the build, personal preferences, and individual strengths in gameplay.
See here how in Elden Ring a half-naked warrior with a pot on his head became a community legend:

A half-naked player in Elden Ring became a community legend – This is his story
5. Morgott, the King of All
Morgott is one of the most interesting opponents in the whole game. He is the true form of the hated boss Margit and serves a similar purpose in the game: While Margit separates the wheat from the chaff among beginners, Morgott is the final hurdle before the endgame of Elden Ring.
And what an impressive hurdle that is. Not only is it a shock to see this unloved opponent again, his pitiful way of talking about succession even awakens brief sympathies – until he reveals that his “walking stick” is a fearsome blood-flame blade.
No, we haven’t swapped the pictures: This is Morgott, not Margit.
Those with unpleasant memories of Margit’s second phase at the beginning of the game will immediately experience a shock moment. Morgott begins the fight as a sort of ultra-version of Margit:
He immediately swings his hammer, faster and more dangerously than before.
His throwing knives come in greater numbers and are even more surprising.
In addition, he has a spear that he uses for fearsome combos.
His attacks are generally faster, more dangerous, and even harder to read.
And those who die have to listen to the exact same phrase as before with Margit. FromSoftware really rubs it in players’ faces: Do you really think you are that much better than at the beginning?
The 2nd phase of Morgott manages to take it a step further. The noble arena, which stands in the shadow of the golden earth tree and was just adorned with royal thrones, gets flooded with a disgusting swamp of suffering and decay. Morgott also loses his dignity, fighting wilder and more desperately.
If you have killed him, a withered husk of this memorable opponent lies before you. It is the strange reward for your hard work.
4. Elemer of the Thorn
Elemer doesn’t have the most exciting story in the game, is, on the whole, a minor presence. But this boss was incredibly fun for me.
The guy reveals himself early in the fight as a sort of Darth Vader of the Between Lands. With a mask that is both human and alien, alongside a massive greatsword and a thorny shield, he makes an impressive impression right away. Then he starts swinging his sword with a sort of telekinesis even from a distance.
Elemer is not an important boss in Elden Ring, but he is a very good one.
The moveset of this boss is not the most versatile, but it is much more dangerous than one would think. Because this opponent, who initially appears to be a pure melee fighter, can get to you from almost any distance. He hardly gives you breaks to catch your breath or heal.
You have to enter into a dance with Elemer, follow his lead, and learn his step sequence. And with some practice, you’ll be twirling around his flying blade, taking advantage of the brief opportunities for your own attacks, and feeling like a nimble panther when you’ve earned the victory screen.
Admittedly, the fight loses a bit of uniqueness since Elemer, as a surprise boss, can appear multiple times in the open world under certain conditions. But the idea of this bounty hunter stalking you like a nemesis throughout the game world is also appealing.
3. Godfrey, the First Elden Lord/Hoarah Loux, the Warrior
The penultimate boss in the game is also one of the best. What makes Godfrey immediately special is his way of talking to you.
While other bosses in the game – like Morgott in the exact same arena – make fun of you, belittle you, or generally underestimate you, Godfrey is an honorable warrior. He praises your strength and gives you much respect, even when he has just knocked you down in no time.
No one kills you as respectfully as Godfrey
In addition, the fight consists of 2 fantastic phases. In the first, he still fights like his golden projection earlier in the game, but the 2nd phase is perhaps the best in the game. Godfrey puts down his weapon and suddenly fights like Zangief from Street Fighter.
As a mix of a wrestling fighter and a sumo wrestler, he makes it hell for you and tests you in a completely unique and memorable way.
Those who succeed in the battle against Godfrey or Hoarah Loux know exactly why everyone in the Between Lands holds him in such high regard. This guy deserves at least as much respect and recognition as he gives you in battle – but actually much more.
2. Radagon of the Golden Order/The Elden Beast
The final boss fight in Elden Ring is divided into 2 phases, which could not be more different.
Phase 1 is the fight against the legendary Radagon, who wants to smash your skull with a very special hammer. With this hammer, Queen Marika destroyed the Elden Ring. He not only uses an excellent moveset, which requires the very best timing and the deepest game knowledge from you – he is also immune to many popular build strategies like bleeding.
Just the appearance of Radagon reveals a lot about the story of Elden Ring
The fight against Radagon is a very simple but effective battle between the tarnished and a person who is at least your equal despite a zombie-like condition. This noble stone husk you are fighting against unites almost all the narrative threads in the game, thus fully convincing from both lore and gameplay perspectives.
Unfortunately, the fight has a 2nd phase. The Elden Beast jumps around a lot, has corrosive attacks, and is generally very rarely hit. Most of the time you are just running around the arena wildly, rarely experiencing a real feeling of a fight.
Fortunately, this arena has a lot going for it. Visually and with the music that appears throughout the boss fight, it induces pure goosebumps. Additionally, the creature resembles the Night-Walker from Princess Mononoke, which is always a plus.
Without this 2nd phase, Radagon would have easily been my favorite boss in the game. Thus, it remains an impressive 2nd place.
1. Mohg, the Blood Lord
If there is such a thing as pure evil in Elden Ring, then it is Mohg. You can fight this cursed creature in Leyndell as a projection, or in his true form in the Mohgwyn Palace.
Just the lore surrounding the boss fight is impressive, if you understand it. Mohg has indeed committed a truly vile act. In the background of the battle, you can see the sleeping demigod Miquella in a giant cocoon, who has been kidnapped by Mohg. Because Miquella is cursed with eternal childhood, Mohg abuses this poor being in unspeakable ways. It’s not just for this reason that it’s fun to kill him.
Mohg is the quintessence of everything that makes Elden Ring so good
Mohg has an intriguing moveset that rewards good dodge timing and requires you to distinguish many animations based on subtle cues. But the special part is the 2nd phase:
This begins with Mohg pronouncing a blood curse, which takes him a few seconds. This is really nasty, as it deals overwhelming damage over a long time and cannot be blocked or dodged.
If you have been attentive, explored the world thoroughly, and read the item descriptions, you might remember a crystal tear you found many hours ago that should protect you from exactly this curse.
Thus, the game rewards precisely what makes Elden Ring so distinctive in this fight:
Good timing and strong combat basics.
Thorough exploration of the vast game world.
Careful tracking of lore and story.
Putting all these puzzle pieces together into a complete picture.
Mohg thus embodies, in addition to the great boss fight itself, the quintessence of Elden Ring and everything that makes FromSoftware games so special. This nasty villain is clearly my favorite boss in the game.
With over 160 bosses in Elden Ring, of course, more than just 5 are really good. That’s why I want to mention 5 more bosses that, while they didn’t fully excite me with gameplay, scored points with absolutely outstanding presentation.
Malenia, Blade of Miquella
The Blade of Miquella is now one of the most famous and notorious bosses in Souls history. The fight with her is excellently presented and can be very fun at times. However, she has 3 annoying mechanics:
She heals herself with every successful attack.
Her signature attack is hard to dodge without tricks and can often be instantly lethal even with many health points.
The Scarlet Rot in her 2nd phase encourages either extremely aggressive or extremely patient play.
In addition, Malenia is in the odd position of being extremely hard with most builds, but due to her poor stance values and vulnerability to bleeding, she can be trivialized with a few simple and popular tricks. So cool as Malenia could be – she doesn’t feel balanced and well-rounded.
Royal Ancestor Spirit
There isn’t much to say about this boss in terms of gameplay. This magical deer is super easy to defeat and should not pose major problems for most players.
However, the presentation is unbeatable. The boss music is clearly the best in the game, and the tragically graceful arena paired with the majestic movements of the creature really gets your tears flowing.
Listen to the boss music in this YouTube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmqfwA7OXcc
That this creature also moves like our faithful horse Stormwind gives even more the feeling that one should not strike here. Instead, I kept asking myself during the battle: Am I doing the right thing? Am I the power-hungry villain?
Astel, Birth of the Abyss
Astel is a cool boss with interesting moves and a good level of difficulty. You encounter him when you follow Ranni’s quest. His location is very mysterious, as you can only get there from the terrifying Rot Lake via a taxi ride in an empty sarcophagus. Totally disoriented, you must confront this alien creature from another world.
But actually, I don’t care about all that. Astel is particularly high on my list because this creature feels like it wandered out of the world of Bloodborne into the Between Lands. As a huge fan of Bloodborne and the eldritch horror of that game, Astel could be a completely irrelevant fight – I would still be in seventh heaven.
Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy
Rykard is a gimmick boss, like those in Demon’s Souls or Dark Souls 3. You get a special weapon at the beginning of the fight that is only really good in the boss arena. Because only against the boss can this weapon fire powerful beams that make this fight feel epic and gigantic.
However, Rykard is significantly more fun in terms of gameplay than Yhorm, and this strange freak is simply incredibly interesting. This snake-human hybrid paradoxically cannot pronounce an “S” and mumbles at you while pulling a disgusting sword from the mouth of a giant snake.
What a disgusting, strange, absurd boss. I love him so much.
Starcaller Radahn
The legendary Radahn throws a festival in his name, and the best warriors in the world are invited to take him down. This premise alone is excellent, but it is topped by Radahn himself.
The once noble, invincible warrior is now just a rotting shadow of himself. In the battle against Malenia, he was virtually destroyed by Scarlet Rot. His legs have rotted away and his mind has been lost. Now a pitiful, tiny steed carries this gigantic zombie creature through the desert, which seemingly stays alive only through pure pride.
To call Radahn a boss fight would be wrong – it is a boss battle. Not summoning the numerous NPC helpers borders on heretical blasphemy, and it is the only main boss in the game you can fight on horseback. And just when this battle couldn’t be more epic, Radahn suddenly disappears at about 50% of his health – and reappears in the most impressive way.
What do you think of this list? Do you agree with my selection, or do you have entirely different favorite bosses? How did you generally find the boss quality in Elden Ring? Let us know in the comments.

Patch 2.7 of Genshin Impact was originally supposed to be released on May 11, but now they announced that both the release and the associated official livestream are being postponed. MeinMMO tells you everything we know about it.
Normally, the official livestream for the upcoming Patch 2.7 of Genshin Impact should be happening today or in the next few days. However, the developers announced that they are postponing the livestream and the entire update due to the worsening COVID-19 situation in China.
Furthermore, they stated that they will provide players with more information as soon as possible and apologized for the inconvenience.

Genshin Impact has now been around for over 1.5 years, and so far, all updates and livestreams have always been on time. This is the first time that COVID-19 has disrupted the developers’ plans.
Leaker says: Patch 2.7 could be postponed by 3 weeks
When will the update come now? Since no official information has been shared yet, it is hard to estimate. The reliable leaker Lumie, however, stated on Twitter that the patch may be postponed by 3 weeks, though he also titled this statement with “questionable”.
This means that Patch 2.7 could be postponed even longer than the leak suggests, but it might also arrive sooner than in 3 weeks.
What does the community say about it? They seem to be quite relaxed and largely respond with understanding. They say that you simply cannot control certain situations in real life.
Furthermore, most fans are not even asking for gifts or free Primogems as compensation, which was usually the case when maintenance or unexpected errors occurred.
The famous Twitch streamer Chance “sodapoppin” Morris was banned from the platform for doing something seemingly racist during a game – he painted his character black. Now sodapoppin’s ban has been lifted, and he shared his thoughts on the ban, revealing that even his family called his brother.
sodapoppin stated that he didn’t think much of it and was just trying to paint a potato. In hindsight, he realized that his painting looked very racist.
The ban from Twitch was initially indefinite, but the streamer has now been unbanned after 2 weeks. However, this was not his first ban; he was previously suspended for a day for getting lost in a sex dungeon.
Now sodapoppin talks about his 14-day ban and what he thought of it.
You can see more bans in Twitch history here:

Family calls sodapoppin’s brother
What does the streamer say about the ban? At first, sodapoppin didn’t even realize that he was banned and asked on Twitter: “Wait, when was I banned?” He then found out what the reason for his ban was.
When he started his stream on April 28, he immediately shared that he could contact Twitch to shorten the ban, but he didn’t do so because sodapoppin was initially angry at the platform. Once his frustration subsided, he viewed the ban as a little vacation and therefore did not challenge it.
After that, he watched the clip that caused his ban: “I watch the clip and I say: I deserved the ban. I’ll just leave it at that – I deserved the ban.”
In the Twitch clip, you can hear sodapoppin’s statements:

However, there was a big but, which greatly irritated the streamer: “It’s very frustrating that family members call my brother and ask whether I am racist. That annoys me.”
Sodapoppin explained his thought process on reddit: He wanted to paint a potato and had Mr. Potato Head in mind. When he realized that he was engaging in blackface with his painting, he wanted to add the red, grinning mouth to mitigate the damage, but he did not realize that this only made it worse.
According to his own statements, he really just made a dumb mistake and did not intend to be racist. He also said that he did not want to portray himself as innocent with that statement, and that he definitely deserved the ban.
Ranged weapons like bows and crossbows hardly play a role in Elden Ring. They are neither among the strongest nor the most practical weapons. However, players have discovered a glitch that makes these weapons exaggeratedly powerful.
What is the problem with the bows? The weapon category has a bad reputation among most players in Elden Ring. Particularly in the endgame, hardly anyone really relies on bows, except to inflict status effects from a distance.
In our weapon tier list, this is clearly seen, as hardly any ranged weapon goes beyond the B rating, S-tier weapons are nonexistent in these categories.
Note: We do not want to provide you with a guide to this glitch and will therefore not describe how exactly it works.
However, as it is quite easy to find and PvP players should be warned, we link here a video that impressively shows why this is such a severe glitch:

Glitch makes ranged weapons very strong in both PvE and PvP
What kind of glitch is this? Without providing a guide: It is based on a buggy damage calculation in the game, combined with the hefty hand cannon.
In the linked video above, one can see how powerful this glitch is. It lasts not even 12 seconds and shows how a player takes out 3 PvP opponents at once – with just one shot from his crossbow.
Meanwhile, he asks the developers FromSoftware to fix this bug, as it is “game-breaking”, meaning it can destroy the game.
The video is from April 16 and thus appeared before the release of Patch 1.04 and the hotfix patch 1.04.1. Therefore, it seems the developers are either not aware of this glitch yet or are working on a solution.
Such glitches are nothing new for FromSoftware games, as fans vividly remember.
Elden Ring has “almost all glitches from previous games”
What do the players say about it? Most find this playstyle rather interesting, precisely because bows and crossbows otherwise play no significant role.
MikyKalamary writes, for example, under a YouTube video about the glitch:
I love that Elden Ring contains almost all the errors from previous games: the boss cheese glitch from Dark Souls 2, the wrong warp from Dark Souls Remastered, and the ammo swap glitch from Dark Souls 3. Just amazing.
Alex Lindstrom comments: “The lesson of the story: they really need to strengthen the ranged weapons, […]”
Other players wonder if one could be banned for using the glitch. There is no clear answer to this question, but one can at least estimate the risk based on previous games.
The risk of such glitches is likely quite low, as it utilizes regular game mechanics, without a major interference in the game itself.
It is more likely that it will be fixed with the next patch. It could also take longer. So at least you should keep in mind that you should be cautious with players using a hand cannon in online mode.
Dungeon Finders in MMORPGs are seen as controversial. For many, they ease the gaming experience, but some players view them as the downfall of social interaction. MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch has often wished for a Dungeon Finder in recent weeks and sees the change in WoW Classic as controversial.
Dungeon Finders are, for me, one of the best features in modern MMORPGs. I certainly don’t stand alone with this opinion, but there will also be many gamers who are facepalming – as seen in the discussion about WOTLK Classic.
Dungeon Finders are controversial because they make it wonderfully easy to enter a dungeon without having to engage deeply with the group. I don’t need to know the gear score or the names of my teammates, and yet I still have a multiplayer experience.
However, many see this as a problem. MMORPGs have become less personal, and teammates are often just background noise. The great friendships made in youth or university are becoming rarer.
But Dungeon Finders are not to blame for this. I painfully experienced in WoW Burning Crusade Classic and especially in New World how complicated the search for a group for a dungeon can become and how it can isolate you in the guild. I can better build social structures myself.
Tanks and healers switch groups, yet we just can’t move forward
In New World, dungeons have currently become one of the most lucrative and popular gameplay elements. You get good gear there, level your competence quickly, and don’t spend too much time in them, as many players now know the dungeons by heart. With the mutations from the January patch, there is also a decent challenge for PvE fans.
However, the group search in New World is more chaotic than ever, as everyone is searching in the same recruitment chat. This is not only confusing but can also lead to crazy situations, as I experienced yesterday:
We were a group of four players – three DPS and one tank – and we were looking for a healer for the new dungeon Heart of the Storm. This lasted about 10 minutes.
Another group was also looking for a player for Heart of the Storm – a tank.
Suddenly, our tank left the group and joined the other one. However, at the same time, the healer from the other group switched to us. Both groups still couldn’t set off.
In the end, the healer returned to his old group, and now we needed both a healer and a tank. Annoying.
Admittedly, that was a rare oddity, but the constant searching and spamming in the chat lacks real depth and also does not create new social connections. I didn’t play or chat with any of the other DPS during the waiting time. We just waited – just like in a Dungeon Finder.
Start video
Everything you need to know about the New World endgame – in 2 minutes
Social structures arise from challenges, not from mindless farm content
But Alex, you could have made contacts during the waiting time and perhaps gained new regular players whom you would ask for upcoming dungeon runs. Yes, that’s true. You can do that. But for such mindless farm content like the normal dungeons, I generally don’t need a fixed group.
I can easily run the normal dungeons with randoms, whether from the chat or a dungeon finder.
However, real social connections for me only arise through challenges.
For example, I prefer to run mutated dungeons in New World with a guild group. I know the players, and they know me. Here, a dungeon isn’t left immediately just because there was a wipe.
I met more players through two territory wars in New World than in the last 50 dungeon runs combined. Because for the wars, we had to cooperate and exchange.
When I run a trial in ESO or a raid in Guild Wars 2, I prefer to do it with people I know who I sit in voice chat with.
My best experience in any MMORPG was with my PvP regular group in Guild Wars 1. We met three times a week for training to regularly capture the Hall of Heroes. I won’t forget the players from back then and the moments because they wouldn’t have been possible with randoms.
A victory in the Hall of Heroes was always something special – it brought my regular group closer together.
Some of my friends leveled up immediately at launch while I first played ESO Blackwood. They were then ready for the raids, while I lacked the level and gear for it.
Of course, they helped me afterward, but they achieved the first kills of the guild without me. With a Dungeon Finder, I could have easily caught up alone while the guild wiped on one or the other boss. But I searched forever for teammates and had to build up slowly.
However, in my guild, the air quickly ran out after the first kills. I never killed Illidan – in case someone wants to take me along!
Dungeon Finders haven’t killed social interaction; they facilitate simple content and grind. However, afterwards, there needs to be something beyond the regular farm content. Something that isn’t so easily accomplished with randoms, which essentially forces me into a guild or regular group.
If that doesn’t exist, the value of social interaction diminishes as well.

These are currently the 7 most popular MMORPGs 2022
At the same time, the guild or regular group cannot be everything. Because if I need it for every game content, I lose the fun of going out alone. And every player eventually has a phase where they just want to listen to a good Netflix series or a podcast in the background instead of using voice chat.
What do you think about the Dungeon Finder? Does every modern MMORPG need this tool? Or are simple LFG tools like the ones in Guild Wars 2 sufficient for you?

The new Diablo Immortal is coming soon on PC, Android, and iOS. MeinMMO will tell you how the new installment of the famous ARPG series differs from its predecessors and what you can expect.
What is Diablo Immortal anyway? The latest Diablo entry has been known since 2018 and is still in development. Originally planned as a mobile-only title, it is now known that PC will also be offered as a platform.
As expected from Diablo, you play from an isometric perspective (“overhead”) and control your hero in battle against hordes of undead and demons. Unlike before, you will find plenty of group content, although you can still experience most of it as a solo player.
Diablo Immortal is set to release on June 2, 2022, for Android and iOS and, quite surprisingly, also for PC. To give you a better picture of the game, we explain some of the most important content and features of Diablo Immortal.
We have embedded the trailer for the release announcement here:

Diablo Immortal: New Gameplay Trailer Shows Epic Battles and Finally Reveals the Release Date
1. Groups are more important than ever
Diablo Immortal fully embraces social content. Almost everything you find in the endgame requires a group or is at least very difficult to handle solo:
Ideally, you should start looking for a guild while leveling up, where you can join. You will often find players in the social hubs of the world with whom you can interact or complete tasks.
With the “Warbands,” consisting of up to 8 players, you can already experience most of the content while enjoying a smaller, familiar environment of friends. However, if you want to see “everything,” you’ll need a guild.
2. Dungeons, Raids, and PvP – Real MMO Content
In the announcement, it was mentioned that Immortal is supposed to be the “biggest Diablo yet.” The mentioned group content also makes up a significant part of Diablo Immortal, according to current information.
So far, we know of 7 dungeons in the game, all featuring their own monsters and bosses. A run takes about 10-15 minutes and serves as an efficient source for coveted loot.
Currently, we only know of two significant raids: the Treasury (for Shadows) and Kion’s Torture (for Immortals). In the latter, 4 groups of 12 players fight simultaneously against 4 bosses, with all other bosses becoming stronger if one of them dies.
The battle for the crown is the ultimate challenge in the endgame of Diablo Immortal.
The currently biggest known feature is PvP, the Cycle of Strife. Here, each week, the best guilds fight for dominance on the server. In multiple rounds and battles, the “Shadows” try to overthrow the reigning “Immortals”:
in 10 battles with 8-vs-8 players, the Shadows qualify

In the beta, so far, only the best players could see this mode. However, the Cycle of Strife is supposed to be reworked before release. Once we know more, you will find the details here on MeinMMO.
But Diablo also includes a campaign. This is also present in Immortal. It is divided into 8 zones and is apparently larger than the 5 acts typically known from Diablo.
By the way: Diablo Immortal takes place historically after part 2 and before part 3. Anyone interested in the story gets a piece of background on what happened between these two parts.
Here you can find the features of Diablo Immortal summarized in 3 minutes:

3. Immortal is a mobile game that also comes to PC
The decision to release Diablo Immortal only on mobile has apparently been regretted by Blizzard. Therefore, it is now also coming to PC. But even if you play Diablo Immortal on PC, you should keep in mind that the game was originally created for mobile.
While we haven’t been able to play and test the PC version yet, there is already some information regarding its implementation.
On one hand, a WASD control scheme is being targeted for PC that has not been present in Diablo before. There are missing details, but it’s likely that Immortal will play on PC similarly to Lost Ark. Controllers will also be supported.
On the other hand, there will be both cross-progression and the ability to cross-save. PC and mobile players will thus play together, and if you use both platforms, you can easily continue playing your characters on the go or at home.
In terms of visuals, Diablo Immortal looks extremely beautiful on mobile devices. However, whether the high resolution holds up on larger screens remains to be seen. In our article, you can already find the system requirements for Diablo Immortal on PC.
We have compiled some pure gameplay for you here:

4. Diablo Immortal is Free2Play but has a shop
You will not have to pay anything for Diablo Immortal; the game is completely Free2Play. According to current information, the game is said to be financed through a shop and a battle pass, which offers both a free and a paid path.
Previously, there were concerns that Diablo Immortal would be purely Pay2Win. Some fans even calculated that it would take 40 years to get the most powerful items if you don’t pay. In the shop, there were certain boosters and items available for purchase.
The shop was one of the biggest criticisms during the beta and, according to the developers, is receiving a rework. What exactly will change and what you can really buy in the end has not yet been revealed to us.
However, beta veterans have already stated that even in the shop’s old state, no purchase was necessary. Some Free2Play players could easily keep up with paying customers.
Only those who want to improve the last few fractions of a percent would have needed purchased items, but this is only relevant for a very few players. Anyone who just wants to play can do so without paying – and still experience all the content.
5. Classes are not ‘fixed’, but switching is not always possible
Diablo Immortal offers 6 classes with unique abilities at launch. You choose one of the classes during character creation and level it up. However, you are not bound by this choice.
You can later decide to switch your class in-game without having to start a new character. This is not supposed to be arbitrary and always possible but is supposed to happen at specific points.
Furthermore, the switch will come to the game later. So, choose your starting class wisely and see the switch as an opportunity to try something new later without needing to level up again.
Diablo Immortal will be continuously developed as a service game over the coming years. New classes are also conceivable, and a candidate has already been found in the data: a vampire knight.
These switches are also a welcome opportunity to explore new content. However, which classes will actually come and when this will happen is still open.
We also do not yet know exactly how much content will come and at what intervals it will appear. The devs have previously spoken of expansions for the game, but without specifics. You can find more on Diablo Immortal and its content in our overview:
The latest raid in Final Fantasy XIV evokes many emotions in the community. The story revolves around the Dragon War, which took place in the Heavensward expansion. Now players must change the past to complete the raid.
Warning: This contains heavy spoilers for the Heavensward expansion and the new raid Dragon War (Fatal).
This is happening in the raid: Since April 26, the toughest hardcore raiders of FFXIV have been battling in the new ultimate raid Dragon War (Fatal). It is based on several fights that players experienced during the Heavensward expansion.
Ultimate raids in FFXIV are characterized by their extremely high difficulty, a high density of convoluted mechanics, and challenging DPS checks. This is also the case in the Dragon War (Fatal), where players must alter the past during the battle to succeed.
The raid is narrated by the Wandering Minstrel, who is the NPC for Director Naoki Yoshida, commenting on the events of the war. At its center is the beloved character Haurchefant Greystone. In Heavensward, he sacrifices himself to save the player’s life.

The giant clock appears in the battle and turns back time.
This also happens repeatedly in the new raid. During every pull of the first phase, Haurchefant must die, which has caused distress among many players. However, to successfully complete the raid, Haurchefant must survive.
Therefore, the players are sent back in time by the Wandering Minstrel and must ensure that the character does not bite the dust this time.
This is how the past is changed: To save Haurchefant, the tank limit break at level 3 is required, which reduces damage taken by 80% for 8 seconds.
This allows Haurchefant to stop the magical spear that normally pierces him with his shield until the group has defeated the enemies on the field. Then the group can attack and destroy the spear, saving the character.

This limit break is not available in the first phase of the fight. Players only have access to level 2, which is insufficient.
After that, the fight takes a different turn. The clock, which was previously used to rewind time, now splits into two. The “evil” clock of the dragon Nidhogg stops, while the “good” clock of the dragon Hraelsvelgr continues to turn, signaling that a positive future has been achieved.
If Haurchefant dies nonetheless, players are sent back to the “normal timeline” and must fight Nidhogg again. It is still unclear whether it is a time loop that can theoretically be played indefinitely or if there will be a wipe after Haurchefant’s second death.
These are the reactions: Haurchefant is one of the most beloved characters. In the large Famitsu survey, he was voted the 3rd most popular FFXIV character (via siliconera). His death has, accordingly, brought many tears to the community.
Initially, many players were horrified that he must die repeatedly in the new raid, but there was still hope due to hints in the quest descriptions that he could be saved.
These theories have now been confirmed through the progress of raider groups into the new phases of the fight, generating much hype.
“This is by far the best Ultimate [raid], sorry TEA [The Epic of Alexander]” – @Kougaon_
Overall, the raid has been very well received so far, which is also reflected in the viewer statistics on Twitch. According to the statistics site sullygnome, FFXIV has more than doubled its viewer count in the past week.
In the meantime, it was also in the top 5 games with the most viewers on Twitch. Players are very curious about how the story of the raid will continue.
Haurchefant is not the only character whose life is at stake in this raid. Two other characters, one of whom dies, must also be rescued.
Whether the fans will get their happy ending in the raid will be revealed as soon as the first group completes the fight.
Streamer Asmongold grilled the head of World of Warcraft with some questions. The answers are exciting: Loot Master as a loot option is expected to return.
Currently, a lot of interviews regarding the upcoming expansion of World of Warcraft, Dragonflight, are taking place. In one of the latest interviews, none other than the “biggest WoW nerd ever” speaks with the WoW head Ion Hazzikostas. A rather unexpected interview that turned out to be much calmer and content-wise interesting than many had feared.
Why is this so special? Even though Asmongold is considered the biggest streamer for World of Warcraft, his opinion about the game is not always positive. He often expresses his thoughts during the stream, paired with some curses or general insults directed at the developers. Some time ago, he even turned his back on the game because the direction of game development stole his hope.
However, one should not forget that this is only one half of Asmongold’s streaming personality. Often he also has very calm videos where he analyzes reasonably and points out various criticisms or makes suggestions.
That the game director of World of Warcraft directly faces streamer Asmongold in an interview was indeed a little sensation – because no one expected that.

Loot Master is supposed to return – but there are problems
Asmongold seizes the opportunity to ask the most pressing questions for him and his community. One of them was whether the Loot Master feature would return soon. The Loot Master was a loot option where bosses left behind a certain amount of loot. The raid leader could then distribute this loot among the group and assign it to individual players. This system was common for a long time but was completely replaced by “personal loot” in Legion.
Ion Hazzikostas explained, somewhat surprisingly:
I would like to bring back the Loot Master. This is something we have thought a lot about in the last one and a half years: Things where we and the community had different views. Loot is a complicated matter.
In Legion we had group loot and personal loot at the same time. Maintaining two systems regarding loot, whether from a data processing perspective or the interface experience, was quite chaotic. […]
Back then we saw group loot and some problems with it, so we just tore it all down and built the new ‘personal loot’ system. Over the last few years, we have added more rules, added exceptions, and refined the system.
But there are many problems with it. The clarity regarding what is tradable is quite poor. The feeling of “Hey, an item has dropped. Technically it’s an item level upgrade, but I don’t need it and now I can’t give it to my friend,” feels bad.
He then explains how the loot system is used by professional guilds for maximum efficiency, putting gameplay fun in the background. This behavior is also something they want to limit and improve.
We have been building the new system for 6 years. We can’t just flip a switch and say: “Okay, now everything works like it used to.” There are certainly areas where personal loot is good and makes sense, such as in the open world – no one needs group loot there. But the core experience of “You kill a raid boss and there are 4 items in its corpse and you have to figure out how to distribute them among the group,” is something we want to bring back.
Although Hazzikostas has not mentioned a date yet – the Loot Master will likely return at least as an option in the future.
Addons are too powerful, making life difficult for developers
A second, quite interesting question revolved around interface addons. After all, with Dragonflight, the standard interface is being revised. Hazzikostas explained that they want to incorporate many functionalities of addons into the base game, but addons are simultaneously becoming an increasingly bigger problem, as they prevent developers from creating exciting mechanics.
We are trying to implement mechanics that bypass addons. […] for example, the ‘Among Us’ phase with the Lords of Terror. […] We just know we have this idea for really fun gameplay, but when an addon solves it for you – then what? We need to acknowledge the existence of addons.
However, Hazzikostas sees other problems as well, as addons have evolved significantly.
Addons make life difficult for developers – they can now do too much.
A problem we see that has increased over the last few years. Addons are no longer just purely informative but also calculating and planning. Solving the [mechanics] for you is a bizarre thing that our interface should not do.
Another example of the addon functionality problem from then to now, Hazzikostas sees with the upcoming release of “Wrath of the Lich King Classic” in the fight against Blood Queen Lana’thel.
This is a pretty simple fight. Only a few mechanics, at the level of Flickwerk. But the one iconic mechanic is that someone gets turned into a vampire and then you bite other people so you are not affected by mind control.
Back then, most people, most raid leaders just announced it. You had a rough understanding of who your best DPS were or that you should bite the healers last. You see what happens and that was fun. You had to name your friends and that could be challenging. Sometimes you wiped because the stacks went from 8 to 16 or people got confused.
I can guarantee you: When Wrath Classic is released and the Lana’thel boss is up, it will be: “Get this Weak Aura that lists the people in your raid from top to bottom in order of DPS priority. And when you become a vampire, the addon will tell you directly: Bite this person. No one has to talk, no one has to do anything.
This does not feel good. This is a problem. And sometimes it prevents us from incorporating social mechanics that would otherwise be enjoyable.
However, Hazzikostas does not yet know exactly how to limit this. They are considering restricting the functionality of some addons in raids or dungeons, for example. However, nothing has been decided yet, and the developers are aware that they need to proceed very carefully. Because many players have customized interfaces that they do not want to break. Blocking an addon function could have consequences for many smaller details.
It is a problem that WoW developers are still working on and a process that may take years.
What do you think about the return of the Loot Master? What is your opinion on interface addons and what they should be able to do?

In the shooter “Call of Duty”, trash talk is part of the game. However, a boy recently took it too far at a tournament and was thrown out of his school team. His newfound fame became his downfall.
This is the situation:
In the USA, “school sports” is a much bigger deal than it is here in Germany. While we have clubs competing in sports outside of school, in the USA, it’s done in schools. Traditionally in sports like football or basketball.
In the USA, however, the shooter “Call of Duty” is also played as school sports.
Apart from school sports: During a “4 versus 4” tournament for $3,000 from the “Content Gaming Network” in Destiny, Florida, two teams faced off. But it escalated.
Clip about fight after “Call of Duty” match gets 7 million views
This is the clip that went viral: After the match between the two teams, ColdFront and Valence, there was an extensive trash talk between the young men.
Across rows of PCs, the players of both teams shouted at each other at the top of their lungs. Essentially, they told each other, “to get lost,” “you’re just terrible,” or “a piece of shit.”

One player stood out in the scenes. He puffed himself up and shouted:
Where is the owner? Hey, this is the second time you send a team from Florida to lose against me! You’re wasting thousands of dollars to lose against me.
The clips have been going around the world in recent days and received a lot of attention. Alone through Barstool Esports, the clip received 7.7 million views.
School expels player from e-sports program
This is now the punishment: The clip of the argument has reached so many views that it went “viral” and could no longer be ignored by the school of one of the players. A player known as “Q” reports that he was thrown out of his school’s e-sports program because he engaged in this trash talk at a “local tournament,” which he believes is simply part of Call of Duty.
He also did not say anything racist or sexist, nothing offensive. He couldn’t just sit there and let himself be shouted at without defending himself.

From the “Miami University,” there was a statement that they uphold love and honor in all aspects of life. They believe in treating opponents with respect, whether online or in real life.
The “player in question” broke this agreement, and therefore measures were taken (via twitter).
Q was upset afterward: Although he had been warned before his expulsion, it was only for minor things: He had shot at corpses and used the Owen Gun against a school team that they were already leading.

Why did it escalate like this? According to the player, there had been bad blood between the two teams for a while. The owner of the other team accused him of abusing the attention drug Adderall. Therefore, after a comeback win, he let himself go. However, he wants people to know: He has no problem with the players of the opposing team – only with the owner.
Q says he is disappointed to have been expelled from his school team. However, he now has many more followers on Twitter.
It has happened before that after an e-sports match, things continued in the “real world”:
