In the new MMORPG Tower of Fantasy, a lot of clicking is required. However, for PC players, there are 4 hotkeys that make life easier, which the game itself doesn’t tell you. We at MeinMMO will show them to you.
What is Tower of Fantasy? The anime MMORPG is a gacha game that has many parallels to the classic Genshin Impact. However, Tower of Fantasy aims to highlight the MMO aspect and focuses on many players and an open world.
The title was released on August 11 in the West and has since gained great popularity. However, the unconventional user interface of the MMORPG poses challenges for some users. There are many buttons that must be clicked explicitly and cannot be controlled with the keyboard. This is not exactly standard in the genre on PC.
The MMORPG has hidden hotkeys: In fact, you don’t have to click 4 of the buttons at all, but Tower of Fantasy simply doesn’t tell you this. There are a handful of hidden hotkeys in the game that simplify your life.
These are the 4 buttons in the upper right corner of the user interface. Specifically, they are gifts, journal, challenges, and the in-game shop. These are things you’ll click on more frequently.
Instead of clicking, you can also simply open them with Alt and the numbers 1 to 4. The game counts from left to right, so:
Gifts with Alt +1
Journal with Alt +2
Challenges with Alt +3
In-game shop with Alt +4

New MMORPG Tower of Fantasy shows impressive trailer for release – fans celebrate the graphics
“This has changed my gaming experience”
How is the community reacting? A player on the Tower of Fantasy reddit accidentally discovered the hotkeys because his PC thought his Alt key was still pressed. He then shared his findings on reddit and is being celebrated for it by fans of the title.
They are thanking him in droves for the discovery and are happy that they no longer have to constantly move the mouse to the upper half of the screen.
One player even writes “Oh wow, this has changed my gaming experience” and receives a lot of support for it, some just thank him and others said they have already used other programs to remap these keys.
However, we want to warn you about the latter, as Tower of Fantasy, like almost all MMORPGs, prohibits the use of third-party software and you could therefore endanger your account.
Are you playing Tower of Fantasy yourself? Have the buttons in the upper right corner annoyed you as well? Feel free to let us know in the comments here on MeinMMO and share your opinion with us. We look forward to it.
Steam is known for having an incredible selection of various games and DLCs, but one feature has frustrated players until now. The launcher is now changing how you add free content to your library.
What is this feature? Steam has added a new button to free games and DLCs. This button allows you to add a free game or DLC directly to your library.
Until the introduction of the new button, you added a free game to your library by clicking “Start Game.” Steam would then immediately try to install the game in question.
Even more frustrating was acquiring free DLCs, as every newly added DLC would want to start the game.
Why has this been a problem? Even though you could abort the installation of a game or DLC initiated by the “Start Game” button, Steam’s process was considered annoying by players.
For example, reddit user u/SSlamMasterJ writes that this process from Steam was particularly frustrating when trying to redeem multiple DLCs (via reddit).
Also, u/TalenTaylor writes on reddit: “This would have been helpful a few weeks ago when I wanted to redeem some free DLCs from the ‘Monster Hunter’ store page. Redeeming them will start the game itself if it has already been downloaded.”
Overall, the old method did not receive positive feedback. u/homer_3 found the system to be “very annoying” (via reddit) and u/Hellknightx is surprised that it “took so long for them [Steam] to address it” (via reddit).
How are players reacting? Given the dissatisfaction with the old system, players are glad that the new button has been added.
Strict-Tomorrow via reddit: “This is great when a game has free DLCs to claim. Before this button, every DLC forced the game to start.” (1,500 upvotes)
Wanderson90 via reddit: “They finally understand their customer base.”
Starmosen via reddit: “This will be great for Warhammer 3, with all the DLCs they hopefully will add. It was a nightmare downloading that stuff before.”
n0stalghia via reddit: “Holy moly, people, the technology from 2010 is finally here.”
grün_meklar via reddit: “This has been needed for so long.”
maxell01x via reddit: “This is a very good feature for the mobile browser / Steam mobile app, as it was previously not possible to redeem a free game / DLC directly.”
While many see the change as a “Quality of Life” adjustment, there are also players who cannot understand the issue with the old system.
Reddit user u/TheWorldisFullofWar asks, for example: “Isn’t the start of the ‘installation process’ just a confirmation window that you can exit immediately?” (via reddit).
Also, u/ShadooTH also states on reddit that they cannot understand the problem: “I don’t think I’ve ever had this problem. I didn’t know it was such a big deal.”
What do you think of the new button? Do you believe the adjustment is sensible, or do you think the old system was not a problem? Feel free to write it in the comments here on MeinMMO!
Later, the games will be offered at low costs on PS Plus or also on other platforms, for a sort of second spring, to generate additional revenue. This stands in contrast to Microsoft, aimed at making big games available directly at launch in their Xbox Game Pass.
Which PS exclusives are planning a Steam release? Next up are the Uncharted series games on Steam, which are celebrated by many PlayStation fans. A release in October is possible.
The trend continues, but PlayStation is carefully ensuring that there is enough time between the console release and a Steam release.
This also aligns with Sony’s declared strategy. They give the titles time to initially make large revenues and attract new players with the exclusive release on PlayStation.

This applies to movies and gaming. Bad news for Spidey fans on PC and Xbox – the Spider-Man games are among the best superhero games ever. With the remaster of “Marvel’s Spider-Man”, it recently launched on Steam.
The original version went online on September 7, 2018.
What were the player numbers like at release? While it doesn’t quite reach the level of God of War, shortly after release, it gathered a respectable 66,000 simultaneous players. Also a major hit for those responsible at Sony.
Thus, it is on par with BioShock: Infinite, the current cat hit Stray, or the zombie slaughter Back 4 Blood.
Later, the games will be offered at low costs on PS Plus or also on other platforms, for a sort of second spring, to generate additional revenue. This stands in contrast to Microsoft, aimed at making big games available directly at launch in their Xbox Game Pass.
Titles like Hitman, Fallout: New Vegas, Red Dead Redemption 2, or Conan Exiles were available at launch at this level.
Days Gone – May 18, 2021
What kind of game is this? Another post-apocalyptic RPG, but this time with zombies. You experience the story of the survivors of a pandemic and race through the open world of this wrecked world on your motorcycle.
Days Gone was first released on April 26, 2019, on PlayStation.
What were the player numbers like at release? Days Gone reached a maximum of 27,450 simultaneous players, thereby also celebrating a successful second launch.
Though it didn’t compare to the blockbuster Horizon, titles like Titanfall 2, Age of Empires 3, or Batman: Arkham Knight were in the vicinity.
God of War – January 14, 2022
What kind of game is this? God of War has long been the epitome of PS exclusives. But at the beginning of the year, the God of War indeed came to Steam.
After the massacre among the Greek gods, you now fight through Norse mythology and have a son that meaningfully expands the story and gameplay.
God of War was released on PlayStation on April 20, 2018.
What were the player numbers like at release? The strongest release of a PS exclusive on Steam to date: God of War achieved over 73,500 simultaneous players – a top value for a game that is nearly 4 years old, celebrating a second release.
On this level are games like Age of Empires 4, Warhammer: Vermintide 2, or Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered – August 12, 2022
What kind of game is this? In 1998, Sony secured exclusive rights to the superhero Spider-Man. If it has Spider-Man on it, Sony today has something to do with it.
Later, the games will be offered at low costs on PS Plus or also on other platforms, for a sort of second spring, to generate additional revenue. This stands in contrast to Microsoft, aimed at making big games available directly at launch in their Xbox Game Pass.

Later, the games will be offered at low costs on PS Plus or also on other platforms, for a sort of second spring, to generate additional revenue. This stands in contrast to Microsoft, aimed at making big games available directly at launch in their Xbox Game Pass.
Though it didn’t compare to the blockbuster Horizon, titles like Titanfall 2, Age of Empires 3, or Batman: Arkham Knight were in the vicinity.

On this level are games like Age of Empires 4, Warhammer: Vermintide 2, or Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

PlayStation has long hoarded its major exclusive titles for PS4 and PS5 like a treasure. However, some of the big exclusive blockbusters are now also available on PC for Steam. Was it worth it for Sony? How well do the titles perform on PC? MeinMMO has answers.
The PlayStation manufacturers from Sony followed a clear strategy of shielding for many years: No crossplay, no release of exclusive titles on other platforms.
In 2019 / 2020, this strategy was softened. With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (late 2019), the first AAA title with comprehensive crossplay features came to PlayStation. In June 2020, the first PS exclusives appeared on Steam – the playable thrillers Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human.
There are already some former exclusive titles from PlayStation on Steam – MeinMMO shows you the titles and player counts. If you are still looking for a PS5, check our sales ticker:
3 Thrillers at Launch – June 2020
What kind of games were they? Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human are all emotional deep dives that tell stories about human fates and societal issues.
As a player, you make decisions for the main characters of the games and discover how the world around you reacts to your behavior.
Heavy Rain was already 10 years old at the Steam release, Beyond Two Souls was almost 7 years old, and Detroit was about 3 years old.
What were the numbers like at the Steam release? None of the 3 games were really hits. However, the titles were already quite old at release. Detroit had the best launch, attracting just over 7,000 players simultaneously in its first month.
Heavy Rain managed just 720 players, and Beyond Two Souls reached 1,340. Especially Detroit is still performing quite well today – although it hasn’t surpassed its initial launch, it regularly reaches 3,000 simultaneous players.
When does one have a hit on Steam? There are no real guidelines for that, but when a title reaches 100,000 simultaneous players on Steam, it can be considered a major hit. The Witcher 3 managed around 100,000 at its peak (January 2020).
Some games explode at release, making even the Witcher numbers look tiny: The survival hit Valheim was released only on Steam in early access and had nearly 500,000 players (February 2021). Elden Ring went even further, reaching 950,000 players.
For the PS exclusives, such high numbers are not necessary for a small hit. The titles have already fulfilled their quota on PlayStation. 50,000 players at launch is already top, but 20,000 – 30,000 would also be worthwhile for Sony.
Death Stranding – July 14, 2020
What kind of game is this? Critically dubbed “walking simulator”, you explore a world that has encountered something mysterious. Although it doesn’t come from a Sony studio, it was announced as a PS4 exclusive back then.
You transport goods through this broken world, indirectly communicate with other players, and uncover the mystery behind the memorable story.
Death Stranding was released on November 8, 2019, on PlayStation.
What were the player numbers like at release? Death Stranding had a much better start than the thrillers of the first wave of PS exclusives. No wonder – the adventure was not even a year old, and the interesting gameplay approaches created much interest.
At the Steam release, it drew in over 32,000 players simultaneously, landing at the release level of Marvel’s Avengers and Fallout 76.
Horizon: Zero Dawn – August 8, 2020
What kind of game is this? A post-apocalyptic RPG in a world where machines have taken over many tasks from animals. The rough beast-machines roam everywhere, luring with valuable materials and action-packed battles.
You play as a tribal hunter who steps into the vast open world to discover the secrets of this world after an attack on your village.
Horizon Zero Dawn was released on PlayStation on February 28, 2017.
What were the player numbers like at release? At launch, the post-apocalyptic RPG had more than 55,000 simultaneous players – a full success for a second release.
Later, the games will be offered at low costs on PS Plus or also on other platforms, for a sort of second spring, to generate additional revenue. This stands in contrast to Microsoft, aimed at making big games available directly at launch in their Xbox Game Pass.

Thrustmaster launches its first hybrid racing wheel, the T248. MyMMO editor Patrick Freese shows you how the T248 compares to the G920, what innovations it offers, and for whom the wheel is worth the price of €350.
The most important points at a glance:
The Thrustmaster T248 is a hybrid racing wheel. Hybrid because it uses a mix of belt and gear mechanisms for its drive.
With a price of €350, it is meant to be the next step for gamers who previously used a beginner-class wheel or a controller.
In testing, the wheel feels good in hand, the pedals are easy to press, and the combination provides a good, realistic driving experience.
There is also a weak point.
Which wheel is it? The test is for the T248 from Thrustmaster, which was released in October 2021. We wrote this test for you in October 2021. The product is a combination of a racing wheel and a pedal unit. You can use it on your PS4, PS5, or PC to play racing games, simulators, or other games.
How did I test? I played various games on PC with the T248 for a week. Project Cars 2, Euro Truck Simulator 2, and Bus Simulator 2018. Assembly and installation posed no problem. I report on this test from the perspective of a casual gamer. I bought my first wheel, a Logitech G920, just this year and it was my most important gaming purchase of 2021.

The Thrustmaster T248 in detail
I will now introduce you to the combination of the wheel and pedals in more detail. I will cover the following aspects:
Contents
Design
Driving experience in practice
Subsequently, I will show you how the wheel performed in the test and whether I will sort out my relatively new Logitech G920 for it.
The gifts in Pokémon GO recently received an improvement that helped with full item bags. However, it seems to have disappeared again.
What was this improvement? The feature was called “Open gifts when the item bag is full”.
This option allowed players to open gifts from friends even when they had no space for items. As a reward, only stardust was given, but just 50 units.
The advantage was that you could still advance the friendship level even when your items were full and you didn’t want to delete old items. Additionally, there was a bit of stardust that you wouldn’t want to give up. Especially, when opening many gifts, this is useful.
This feature was discovered by some trainers on July 23 in their game (via reddit). Similar to the new ball-remember feature, it could be activated or deactivated in the settings menu.
However, this feature now appears to be unavailable.
Where is the gifts feature now?

On Twitter, the PokeMiners explained that the feature was apparently disabled again for all accounts on August 12.
The PokeMiners are a group of data miners who regularly search the code of Pokémon GO for new features and updates. They often provide leaks that show what players might expect, sometimes even before an event or similar occurs.
No possible reasons for the removal are known so far. As soon as there is something new, we will keep you updated. Currently, there is no corresponding feature available in the game. If you try to open a gift with a full bag, you get the following screen:
The curious thing is that the feature was removed before all players could use it. Some didn’t even know it was an option. Whether and when it will come back is still uncertain.
How was it for you? Did you have the opportunity to test the feature? Is it still available for you? Let us know in the comments.
Adjustment through glyphs in World of Warcraft is quite neglected. Yet a fan has such grand ideas that players want to see him at Blizzard.
Glyphs in World of Warcraft have gone through several major changes. After they initially went through actual gameplay changes in their first variation, they are now merely cosmetic adjustments. They ensure that spells and abilities have different visual effects and thus offer a somewhat more individualized look of various skills.
However, many find that glyphs do not go far enough and need significantly more variety. So does a fan, who shows his suggestions in the subreddit of World of Warcraft.
Who is it about? The Redditor is Reddit user “Fishbones06”, who has been posting his suggestions for new glyph designs in the WoW subreddit for months. Some of them are “only” simple images, while others even have animations. But even the static suggestions are quite detailed and show how good the glyph system could be.
Meanwhile, Fishbones06 has collected well over 100,000 upvotes with his suggestions – no wonder considering how great some of the suggestions look.
What ideas did he have? We would like to briefly introduce you to some of the most interesting ideas here.
One of Fishbones06’s latest creations is a cosmetic variation of Warlock demons for Zandalari trolls. Two different sets of glyphs would adorn the demons either with golden Zandalari armor or with red, voodoo-like designs of the Blood Trolls, depending on preference. Particularly, the golden succubus with its numerous decorations stands out impressively here, but the voidwalker also makes a strong impression.

For shamans, Fishbones06 has come up with a special glyph for the Earth Elemental that should particularly please archaeology fans. The normal Earth Elemental is here enhanced with bones and fossils that were buried in the earth.

A bit darker is the concept idea for undead Mechagnomes – cybernetic gnomes whose bodies have long since died and are only kept “alive” by their technology:

Similarly dark is a druid form for the forsaken, namely the “Moonkin Abomination,” which was constructed from several bodies and thus reminds of the worst creations of the Scourge and from Drustvar:

In a similar direction go the shaman ideas for the forsaken, should they ever become playable. Then the undead could use gravestones as totems or summon an extremely cool gravestone elemental (including skeleton):

Even priests would be well served and could regain their Yogg-Saron tentacles from Legion or have Il’gynoth wings on their backs. A “Holy” version of the shadow form would also be conceivable, as well as further features of the Old Gods.

Last but not least, a few variations for the “Avenging Wrath” wings of the Paladin. Here there are numerous different suggestions, one for each race. For example, Draenei could make parts of Naaru appear on their backs, while Zandalari trolls could don the wings of Pa’ku. Dark Iron Dwarves naturally burn with the glowing wings of the Firelands.

This is what the community says: As can be seen from the thousands of upvotes alone, the ideas are extremely well received by the community. Accordingly, there is a lot of praise in the comments on individual suggestions:
“Dude, stop creating such brilliant things! It just makes me sad that we will never have them in the game.”
“All these posts make me think that only 2 people are working on WoW at Blizzard.”
“Wow, I’ve been fooled again. I thought this was a graphic from the game, haha. Good job!”
“I love your work, but can you please stop posting it? We will never get it and that makes me sad.”
“Insane good work. Blizzard should hire you for these ideas.”
What do you think of these glyph suggestions? Cool ideas that are easy to implement? Or does it go too far and shouldn’t be so extensive?

MeinMMO reader Paladirah has written an extensive review of the mobile game Arknights (Android, iOS). We are publishing the review on our site as a guest contribution.
What kind of game is this? Arknights is a free-to-play mobile tower defense game with a touch of RPG. It mainly targets single-player players. Developed by Hypergryph, the game was released in its global version in January 2020 for Android and iOS.
Here’s what Arknights is about: Arknights takes place in a modern, post-apocalyptic setting where conventional firearms and even magic come into play. In the world of Arknights (Terra), many different humanoid races exist, featuring traits of animals, angels, or dragons, spread across various factions and countries.
However, the world of Terra is plagued by natural disasters, mutated beings, and diseases, leading some factions or splinter groups to be at war. Many cities are abandoned and destroyed. Things are not really peaceful in Arknights.
The setting is a post-apocalyptic world.
Each character not only has their own personality and background information but also a story that is often touched upon or deepened in the story or during events. One could almost say that pretty much everything has lore, and the background story can be quite deep if you read through everything.
It’s worth taking the time to follow the story. However, you can also skip everything and catch up later. The only criticism is that while Arknights tells a lot, it unfortunately shows too little. Maybe that will change with the upcoming anime or the spin-off Arknights: Endfield.
Who is writing here? Paladirah – Artist and Developer. I enjoy cooking, listening to music, and of course, I’m a fan of animes and games. Having grown up with the Gameboy and Super Nintendo, video games have been my constant companions. Consoles were initially my favorite platform, whether Xbox, Gamecube, or PlayStation. With Phantasy Star Online and Final Fantasy 11, I switched to PC. Despite a constantly growing Steam library, I’ve been more involved in MMOs. When TERA went free-to-play, when Bahamut destroyed the servers of FFXIV, when the first English community formed in Japanese PSO2, and when the rifts first appeared in Fortnite – I was there!
Tower Defense or Strategy RPG?
This is the gameplay: The game principle follows the classic tower defense, where the goal is to stop incoming waves of enemies from reaching your own base. But instead of simply placing 5 or 10 of the same unit, in Arknights, you must assemble a team of up to 12 characters, of which there is only one of each character. Each character is categorized into one of 8 classes and brings their own skills and stats. The right team composition is already half the battle.
At the beginning of the game, you continuously earn points, which you can use to place characters on the map, with each character having a different cost. This way, you build up your defense over time while also dealing with waves of different enemies. Depending on the situation, you also have to unleash the abilities of your placed characters.
Admittedly, the beginning of the game is relatively slow and boring. The first levels consist of tutorials, where it’s enough to just place your level 1 characters and wait. Once you perfectly complete a mission, you can repeat that mission anytime in auto-play mode. This is great for farming resources.
However, it doesn’t take long before you have to deal with effects and enemies where every mistake could be fatal. Arknights really shines when you have to not only place characters with precision but also pull them back and reposition them.
The use of the right ability at the right time is key to victory. And when facing one of the powerful bosses that can cut through the entire defense with a mistake, you momentarily forget that it’s actually a tower defense game or even a mobile game.
This is how leveling works: Another aspect is leveling characters. Progress typically involves leveling a character to the maximum and then promoting them to the next level (Elite). With each level up, values like attack, defense, and so on increase. These values also improve a bit the more often you use a character.
Upon promotion, characters usually learn new passive talents or new abilities or enhance their existing ones. Most characters can be promoted twice, after which they can be leveled up to a maximum of level 90. Additionally, you can also strengthen each character’s abilities, leveling up all abilities simultaneously.
Base Building, Rogue-Like Mode and Other Features
These features are also available: As a little side activity, you can build your own base. There, you can set up a few rooms. However, the main use is the production of resources and materials. At the end, a training room will be unlocked where you can further specialize your characters’ abilities.
Arknights is a single-player game; there is no PvP or real co-op mode. However, you can borrow characters from other players and friends, which provides a small help for tougher missions. Besides the story mode, there are missions to gather resources, such as for upgrading the base or characters. There is also a weekly mode where you have to face 400 enemies and receive premium currency as a reward.
In the base, characters can be assigned to various tasks.
Newly added is a rogue-like mode where you must collect random items, make decisions, and unlock characters. There are also dailies and weeklies that can usually be completed on the side. Lastly, special events packed with new missions, quickly earned resources, and usually free characters or skins appear every few weeks.
It’s also worth mentioning that each mission, aside from the new rogue-like, costs “sanity.” When your sanity runs out, you can no longer play missions. You can refill this with premium tokens or must wait. While this may sound a bit alarming, it’s not that bad in reality, because missions usually don’t cost that much sanity. Additionally, you have your own account level, and with each level up, the sanity limit increases and is fully refilled.
Sanity potions can be earned through weeklies; they can be saved for several weeks. Additionally, you have 30 tickets per day that allow you to practice missions. As a beginner, however, you will have more sanity than you can spend. The sanity system is primarily designed so that you cannot continuously farm expensive resources. But for completing the story, it is certainly sufficient.

In terms of graphics, there isn’t much to say. The maps are 3D models, while characters and enemies are 2D graphics. Some skill effects are nice to look at, but it’s usually manageable, even when there’s a lot happening on the screen.
The character images are generally quite nice, though 99% of them are static. Only very rarely do characters have animated character portraits (Live2D). However, that doesn’t mean the characters are cheap anime waifus. The character design of the now over 200 characters is varied and very detailed. Furthermore, the style is unique, as the characters themselves could come from a fantasy setting, yet are equipped with modern or futuristic gear.
The story is almost exclusively told in the style of visual novels: background, 2 or 3 characters, and a text box. The texts are all in English; unfortunately, there are no German texts available yet.
How is the game financed?
First of all, there is the premium currency Originium and the premium tokens Originite Prime. The currency is mainly used for pulling (gacha) banners, while the tokens are used for refilling sanity or buying skins. Refilling sanity doesn’t get more expensive, and only one of these tokens is needed. The tokens can also be converted into currency, where 3 tokens equal slightly less than one pull.
You can obtain characters in two ways: through recruitment or headhunting (banners). Recruitment is a kind of free gacha. You select up to 3 keywords, wait a few hours, and usually get a character of low rarity. With a bit of luck, a rare character can also be included. Headhunting involves the typical banners with rate-up and pity system.
In addition to the banners, there are also skins, packs, and a monthly pass. Essentially, it’s the standard monetization like in most gacha games.
Of course, there’s also traditional gacha.
Pay2Win or not?
Arknights proves generous and doesn’t enforce real-money spending. Just by playing the story, you are rewarded with various characters, resources, and premium tokens. The dailies, weeklies, and achievements are almost done automatically. It’s also common for developers to send skins or other items as gifts through the mail.
The events are particularly popular, as you can often earn new characters, skins, and premium currency through the event shop without having to invest much time or real money. The rogue-like mode also introduced a battle pass, but it cannot be influenced by real money.
Another point is the gacha itself. First of all, with each new banner, you receive a one-time 5-star character or higher after a maximum of 10 pulls. A pity system also ensures that you feel you can get a 6-star character with just a few pulls. Furthermore, for each duplicate character, you receive a currency that allows you to purchase additional pulls or resources.
The twist: With enough of this currency, you can even buy rate-up characters from the current banner directly. And with the rare limited banners, you get the first 10 pulls for free, and 14 more distributed during the event period without lifting a finger.
Arknights offers over 200 characters, all with different abilities and stats.
In Arknights, it’s “Waifu over Meta”
This is how gacha works: Unlike well-known representatives in the gacha genre, it’s enough if you draw your desired character just once. Of course, there’s also the possibility to enhance your character further once you have obtained it multiple times. However, this enhancement (potential) is pleasantly minimal.
A character with full potential is a “nice to have” but nothing more. The rare 6-star characters are not game-changers either. Characters with lower rarity (4-star) are cheaper to level up, can be deployed earlier, can be repositioned faster, and sometimes do their job even better than comparable 6-star characters.
There are many guides showing that even the toughest missions can be almost completely completed with low-rarity characters. So far, there isn’t a bad or useless character. No resource invested is wasted. Here it’s “Waifu over Meta”.
Of course, you can also invest money, but that has nowhere near as strong an impact compared to other F2P games. You cannot instantly max out a character with money; you still have to farm the necessary resources. Moreover, you miss nothing if you happen not to pull a character. The banners and events come back repeatedly. And by then, you have enough time to save the necessary pulls, if you even need that many.
More about anime games on MeinMMO can be found here:
Arknights is not perfect. There is no multiplayer, no open world, no animated cutscenes, and no German texts. Moreover, the RNG in gacha can sometimes work against you. Furthermore, the game is only playable on mobile.
If you want to play Arknights on PC, there is no way around an emulator.
And lastly, there’s the gameplay. If you’re not a fan of strategy or tower defense games, you might not find happiness in Arknights.
The cure against (greedy) gacha games
Arknights nevertheless shows how it can be done right. While it seems superficially to be just another tower defense or gacha waifu collection game, it is more than that.
It offers plenty of story, challenging battles, very good music, a fair gacha, and no pay2win. It’s ideal for a few quick missions, but also for deeper engagement in the roguelike. And you need not fear missing out on anything should you take a break for a while.
If you cannot proceed in a mission, you can borrow a character from other players and temporarily add it to your team as the 13th character.
It’s always fun to try out new strategies or team compositions. You appreciate every new character with whom you can try out new things, whether they are 4-star or 6-star. In this way, Arknights isn’t excessively complicated, yet complex enough.
You can also get help from the friendly community, which can be found on the official Arknights Discord server.
Finally, there is Hypergryph, one of the few developers who care more about the community than their own profit. There’s no power creep where stronger characters are introduced in banners. Even the strongest 6-star characters are useless if you don’t know how to use them properly. And in the latest rogue-like mode, 4-star characters are more important than ever.
Arknights should be recommended to anyone who doesn’t mind anime characters and the lack of an open world and online multiplayer.

All classes can likely use the popular “Battle-Rezz” in World of Warcraft Dragonflight. Soon, everyone can resurrect their allies.
A resurrection in battle is often useful in World of Warcraft. Especially during raids or in dungeons, a player often goes down due to a moment of inattention. It’s particularly frustrating when there is no “Battle-Rezz” available in the whole group. Blizzard has apparently recognized this and is giving every class the ability to resurrect allies.
What was discovered? As the colleagues from “buffed” have discovered, engineers in Dragonflight can once again craft jumper cables to resurrect other players in battle (or outside).
However, the special feature this time is that there is also the “Realistic Jumper Cable,” which does not require engineering skill. So you can obtain this battle resurrection with any other profession as well.
As a result, effectively all classes and specializations have access to a resurrection in battle, which can be significant in Mythic+.
Start video
WoW: Dragonflight revises professions – All features explained in under 2 minutes
Are there also drawbacks? Yes, there are. Unlike other battle resurrections or the improved version of the jumper cable, the accessible cable can only resurrect with 35% health and 10% mana. In comparison: The improved version (usable only by engineers) can restore a proud 60% health and 20% mana.
More about World of Warcraft Dragonflight can be found here:
Why is Blizzard doing this? While Blizzard always tries not to dilute the advantages of individual classes, some mechanics prove to be simply too strong not to have. Especially in “Mythic+” groups, a battle resurrection can be the difference between a run that is “well within time” and a failure by several overrun minutes.
However, since only a few classes have a Battle-Rezz, there may be times when the group has to do without. However, the Battle-Rezz is considered a resource in the dungeons (after all, they are limited) and is therefore particularly important.
Allowing all classes to have a weaker Battle-Rezz through new items ensures greater equality and more variety in class selection.
Previously, Blizzard also enabled things like time distortion and battle frenzy through drumming for everyone, and the mass stealth from rogues can even be simulated through invisibility potions.
Please note that this is currently information from the Alpha. Things could still change before the release of Dragonflight.
What do you think about everyone getting a Battle-Rezz? A good and sensible change? Or another form of “equalization” among all classes?

Riot Games experienced some technical issues with League of Legends in summer 2022. Following the problems with the PvP tournament “Clash”, there are now issues with the LoL event “Star Guardian” 2022, which was for many “the event 2022”. On Friday, August 12, Riot had to prematurely terminate the free missions and is now compensating players. The reason appears to be an overwhelming influx of players. LoL is currently more relevant worldwide than WoW and Call of Duty.
What kind of event is this?
The Star Guardian event was supposed to run from July 14 to August 15 in League of Legends.
For some players, it was “the biggest event of the year”, as they could earn special skins of champs like Kai’Sa, Sona, Ekko, Nilah, or Fiddlesticks, though the skins were criticized in advance.
Players could buy a pass with Riot Points (“RP”), the real-money currency, which unlocked certain missions. There were also missions for “Another Sky”, which could be completed without spending money.
Those who wanted all the skins could get the “Megabundle” for 12,391 RP – that’s about €90.
Essentially, the “Star Guardian” event comes down to: “Give us money and earn special skins” – this is the direction that LoL events have developed in recent years, which a fan harshly criticized, and was subsequently offered a job by the director personally.

LoL: The popular Star Guardian event is back – Teaser reveals release date
“Much more players and rewards than we expected”
What went wrong? Riot Games appears to be struggling to handle the influx to League of Legends. On August 7, RiotBrightmoon reported: The rewards are coming slower than expected. Players should stay patient. There are simply “too many players and too many rewards” – it is taking longer than expected (via twitter).
These problems have intensified in recent days: Players were not advancing in the story and were not receiving rewards.
Riot Games cancels event 3 days early – Paid missions continue
This is now Riot Games’ decision:
On August 12, three days before the event’s end, Riot Games completely shut down the free missions. They stated that the reason was “some problems” (via twitter)
Now they are simply granting players all the rewards from the free rewards, as long as they have an account in LoL. The entire “Another Sky” story will also be unlocked.
The paid missions will be extended until August 24. The special shop will also remain open until then.
Players should be patient; the rewards may not come immediately.
Much criticism of the technical side of LoL: “Client is messed up”
What is the reaction? Somehow, fans seem to be resigned at the moment. Recently, several events have failed due to technical difficulties. Especially the “Ruination” event from summer 2021 is still remembered bitterly by many players (via reddit).
Overall, there seems to be disappointment, especially among those players who made the effort to grind the event for rewards:
One player says: “Another victory for those who do not grind.”
Another says: “I will never buy a pass again.”
A third: “Worst event of all time.”
Generally, the League of Legends client is viewed critically right now. Technically, there seems to be quite a bit wrong: events are not functioning, and there are repeated issues with rewards. Players are talking about the client being “messed up”.
There is also a weakness among the long-standing service games like Battlefield, Call of Duty, or WoW. These games have recently lost relevance. In contrast, League of Legends has gained relevance. Fortnite is still significantly larger than LoL, but is also shrinking.
With the Netflix series “Arcane”, LoL has reached a new audience. The boom of streaming services such as Twitch and the rise of e-sports also bolster LoL. League of Legends is regularly the largest game in the world on Twitch.
The strength of LoL primarily comes from the weakness in the rest of the market. However, the League of Legends client seems unable to handle this strength.

For Ninja and shroud, this turned out optimal because they received a lot of money without even having to fully meet their contract.
Ninja and shroud completely benefited from a miscalculation by Microsoft.
In contrast, Sodapoppin, like others, did not want to let his loyal fans down on Twitch and “not sell out.” However, he would not have sold out, but rather only rented himself out for a short time for a lot of money.
To this day, it is not known which Twitch streamers Microsoft also offered such large deals. But evidently, Sodapoppin was among the chosen ones. Allegedly, Mixer also approached DrDisrespect – who is also regretting today that he did not take the money.

What’s up with Mixer? As Sodapoppin says, it was an absurd situation. Microsoft wanted to take on Twitch with its own service, Mixer. To do this, they bought Twitch superstars Ninja and shroud and offered them multi-year contracts. These contracts were reportedly extremely lucrative.
Allegedly, Facebook tried to extend shroud and Ninja’s deals so that they would stream on Facebook, but they had their extremely high contracts paid out and went back to Twitch.
We at MeinMMO have dealt with the end of Mixer:

The Twitch streamer Chance “Sodapoppin” Morris has now explained in a livestream what he regrets about his Twitch career: He should have accepted one of Microsoft’s dubious deals to switch to the platform Mixer. But because he held on to his moral principles and remained loyal to his fans on Twitch, he missed the chance to be bought for a lot of money.
Who is the streamer?
Sodapoppin is something like “Twitch royalty”: He has been on the platform since 2011, started as a WoW streamer, but has streamed all sorts of things since then. At one point, he got lost in a VR “sex dungeon” or took on a stressful job in a burger joint in GTA.
Sodapoppin averages 17,000 viewers and is one of the top 10 streamers with the largest channels by followers on the streaming platform. He is especially appreciated for his dry, ironic manner.
For streamers like Sodapoppin, Prime Gaming has really been life-changing over the years:
“These bastards get millions of $ and then just get to come back!”
This is what he regrets: In a livestream from OTK on August 1, where PCs are now being built, Sodapoppin expresses his frustration that he did not accept a Mixer deal like the two Twitch streamers shroud and Ninja did in 2019:
I wish so much I had also gone to Mixer. I am so envious! Those bastards [referring to Ninja and shroud] signed the contract, received double-digit millions in US dollars and… then they are simply allowed to come back!
They close Mixer and they get to keep the damn money.
Sodapoppin didn’t want to sell out, declined the deal
This is what Sodapoppin learned from it: In hindsight, Sodapoppin says he did everything wrong back then:
Do you know how it feels when you get offered a contract and then you say: “Hm, no… Morality! I’m good with what I have. Goodbye” and then you get screwed over? I’m only making crap. I need to start doing dubious stuff! It just doesn’t help. It hurts.

The new weekly box starting August 15 in Pokémon GO is known. You will get this item in the week from August 15 to August 22 for 1 coin in the event box.
The data miners of the Pokéminers have reliably predicted in recent weeks which contents will appear in the boxes. Thanks to these data miners, it is now known which item awaits you in the new weekly box starting August 15.
1-Coin Box Starting August 15 – Contents
What’s inside? In the box for one coin, you will receive
A Lucky Egg
In recent weeks, the 1-Coin Box has always been quite modest when it comes to the number of items. It seems that Niantic is still experimenting with which items players want in these packages. Recently, these boxes revolved around modules of various kinds. In the last box, there was a Rain Module. The new contents of the weekly box were shared by the Twitter account of the PokeMiners.
When will the box be available? Around 06:00 AM on August 15, the box should be unlocked for you. If you cannot see it, it is recommended to restart the game once. Afterwards, the package should be visible to you.
You will find the box next to the other packages in the shop.
How long is the box active? You can find the box in the shop for one week and have enough time to clean up your inventory and make space for the items.
A week later, on August 22, there will be a new box that brings different contents for you. It’s still unclear what will be inside.
How do you like the contents of the 1-Coin event box this time? Let us know your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments and tell us if you think the Lucky Egg is worth the 1 coin again, or if you will skip the box this week.

Console wars have been raging long before the PlayStation and Xbox. In this article, we introduce you to consoles that hardly anyone knows because they completely flopped.
Before Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo established themselves as the undisputed giants in the console market, various manufacturers attempted to gain a foothold in the gaming industry each year. Names like Sega, Atari, or Commodore will be familiar to most here.
Their consoles came and went, leaving their mark on gaming history and paving the way for innovation. But there were also others, whose lifespan was so short and the flop so severe that hardly anyone remembers them today. Here are 5 such consoles.
Amstrad GX4000
During the 80s and 90s, many toy and tech companies attempted to enter the growing console market to get their piece of the money pie. One such company was Amstrad, founded by the Brit Alan Sugar.
During the 80s, the manufacturer was one of the dominant forces in the British PC market, and they wanted to leverage this position to also participate in the console wars. This marked the birth of Amstrad GC4000. The hardware architecture of the console was based on their own “CPC Plus” home computers and belonged to the third generation of consoles.
The failure of the console was pre-programmed. At the time of its release in 1990, the competition was already strong. The 8-bit consoles Sega Master System and the heavyweight Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) were dominating the European market, against which the Amstrad had to compete.
Furthermore, the first 16-bit consoles like the Sega Genesis had already appeared at the end of the 80s, against which the 8-bit Amstrad, with its limited software offering of about 30 games, stood no chance. Estimates suggest that the console sold just 14,000 units.
Zeebo
Compared to other consoles on this list, Zeebo is quite a young console. The device first appeared in May 2009, three years after the Wii and PlayStation 3, and it was not actually intended for us.
The target audience for Zeebo was supposed to be the middle class in countries like Brazil and Mexico, with a later release planned for China and Russia. With a price of 499 Brazilian Reais (approximately €150 at the time, today €94.90), it was aimed at customers for whom the consoles of the market leaders Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo were too expensive.
However, while the price seems very low to us, it was still too much for customers in Brazil and Mexico. Consequently, the price plummeted to 299 Reais just 6 months after release.
Another problem was software. The Zeebo received a remarkable 46 titles, many of which were “ports” and adapted versions of existing titles, such as Resident Evil 4 (2005) and Need for Speed: Carbon (2006).
Its sales target of 600,000 units was missed by a good margin, with estimates suggesting it sold only 30,000 consoles in the end (via indiependent.co.uk).
Playdia
One of the many companies that repeatedly attempted to enter the console market unsuccessfully was the Japanese toy giant Bandai. One of their attempts was Playdia, a 32-bit console of the fifth generation, controlled by a wireless infrared controller.
To stand out from the competition, which was incredibly diverse and numerous in the 90s, Bandai went against the trends of the industry at the time. The Playdia was designed as a console for children, which could be seen both in its colorful appearance and the software available.
The games that were released for Playdia during its short lifespan were less games in the classic sense, but rather interactive animes and educational software. There was no trace of the proper gameplay that was already known at the time from Nintendo, Sega, and Atari games.
The selection mainly consisted of Bandai’s own IPs such as Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, and Gundam, with Bandai being the only manufacturer that supported the platform. As a result, Playdia received only 39 different titles in total.
It is not known how many units the Playdia ultimately sold, but it did not reach the targeted goal of 200,000 consoles and was discontinued in 1996, just two years after its release (via playdia.fandom.com).
The developer of Nuon, VM Labs Inc., was founded by a former vice president and several former employees of Atari, who already had experience in the console wars.
However, their approach was somewhat “backward.” Although Nuon, which was released in 2000, is considered a console, it was marketed at best as a multimedia device and at worst as a DVD player. Even in appearance, Nuon resembled a video player more than a console. The games for Nuon were thus extremely limited and sometimes completely absurd.
Only 8 games were released for the console, half of which already existed on the PlayStation (via giantbomb). One game was even region-locked and could only be played on the Korean version of the console. The same applied in reverse: the Korean Nuon could only play this one exclusive game for that region: Crayon Shin-chan 3.
The absurdities continued, as Nuon had a total of 4 different controllers with various button layouts, which were either copies of the PlayStation or N64 controllers. However, the games were not designed to support all 4 controllers, and with a bit of bad luck, you might not be able to properly control the freshly bought game for your Nuon.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that the console totally flopped, selling only about 25,000 units, even though it was one of the first 128-bit consoles alongside the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2.
Just because a company in the tech industry is very successful does not mean that they can easily enter the console business. Many companies, including Fujitsu, had to learn this lesson in the 90s.
As a successful manufacturer of PCs, televisions, and monitors, Fujitsu decided to extend their influence to consoles and gaming as well. For this purpose, the company launched the FM Towns Marty console on February 20, 1993, which was supposed to be the first 32-bit console with a CD drive.
The console was released only in Japan at the hefty price of 98,000 yen, which would be about €1,408 today. It was a hefty sum that was not feasible for many, especially because of the numerous cheap alternatives.
Sales were so poor that Fujitsu brought the Marty 2 to market just a year later to draw attention to the industry again. While the 2 in the name may have suggested a new console with better or at least different specs, that was not the case. The only difference was the casing, which was a slightly darker gray in the second version.
In contrast to the other consoles on this list, the Marty had a nearly huge game selection. This was due to the fact that the device was backward compatible and could play the games of Fujitsu’s own FM Towns PCs.
The Marty and Marty 2 together sold an estimated 45,000 units and were an absolute flop, after which Fujitsu stayed out of the console wars.
Did you know about the consoles on our list? Can you think of any others that completely flopped and never gained recognition? Let us know in the comments.
The excitement in Destiny 2 is rising. In less than two weeks, players will find out what the space shooter wants to entertain them with for the next 3 months. Among these is a new, free raid for all players. But which one it is has not yet been revealed. That’s why we asked our community, and they know exactly what they want to play.
What does Season 18 bring in Destiny 2? Players in Destiny 2 can expect a lot of excitement at the start of Season 18. Currently, not much is known. It is known that Season 18 will bring a new season pass, seasonal weapons and armor, a returning PvP map, and a new mode for the Crucible.
However, the real highlights are still mostly top-secret. Neither the name of the new Season 18 is known, nor are there any clues about the story. At least the new super abilities, called Arc 3.0, have been confirmed by Bungie in advance for Season 18. But the biggest highlight, which raid from Destiny 1 is returning in Season 18, is still open.
Our community agrees on which raid they want to bring back.
Therefore, we wanted to know from you in a survey which raid you would like to see return the most. In this article, we will look at the results of the survey and let your comments speak.
This is how you voted: The MeinMMO survey ran from July 29 to August 12, and 1,920 of you voted enthusiastically. Each reader had only one vote available.
The choice was among 3 legendary Destiny 1 raids that Bungie is currently keeping in the content vault. On one hand, Wrath of the Machine from the expansion “The Taken King” in 2016. Then the challenging King’s Fall raid from the expansion “The Taken King” in 2015, and last but not least, Crota’s End, the raid from the expansion “The Dark Below” in 2014.
Your vote distribution looks like this:
For “Wrath of the Machine would be my highlight” only: 19.27% (370 votes)
“Crota’s End should return” received: 23.80% (457 votes)
And for “I would rather play King’s Fall” voted 55.99% (1075 votes)
The result shows that you definitely want to see “King’s Fall,” one of the biggest raids from Destiny 1, return. And thus also one of the most iconic contents in the entire franchise.
This would also fit into the current story: Indeed, the King’s Fall raid would be more than fitting for the current DLC “The Witch Queen.” After all, its raid boss “Oryx” is not only the king of the Taken but also Savathun’s brother, and his return would be a great opportunity to show players what has happened to him.
You know exactly which raid you definitely want to play again
In the comments of our survey, some players would actually celebrate the return of the “King’s Fall” raid, which you voted for in first place. Destiny 2 player Chris is even already praying that it happens.
I’m praying for Kingsfall. I would farm it nonstop. It’s by far my favorite raid.
Other players, like MeinMMO reader no12playwith2k3, would prefer Crota’s End to return. Because he expects more fun from it, just like back in Destiny 1.
Crota’s End would […] bring about some exciting and funny community challenges. I’m pretty sure that the raid will still be glitchy, buggy, and cheesy.
For many players, including our Destiny author Christos Tsogos, the question arises whether the new legacy raid in Season 18 will also return with the original weapons.
The exotic scout rifle “Touch of Malice” (eng. Touch of Malice)
If Bungie were to orient itself on the first returning raid “The Glass Chamber,” which brought back the Vex Mythoclast, then this could happen again
“King’s Fall” could then bring back the scout rifle exotic “Touch of Malice.”
“Crota’s End” would probably contain the exotic 900 auto rifle “Necrochasm.”
Only for the raid exotic from “Wrath of the Machine,” something new would need to be developed. Because Bungie has already brought its highlights back to Destiny 2 with the exo pulse rifle “Perfected Outbreak” and the “Sleeper Simulant.”
This is happening in the Destiny universe right now:
Let’s hope that Bungie also knows the players’ wishes and brings back the hoped-for raid of the community in Season 18. We are certainly looking forward to it.
Do you find your opinion reflected in the survey results? And would you celebrate the winning raid from our voting if it actually finds its way back into the game? Or are you one of the readers who wonder why players keep coming back to play Destiny 2? Then we have the explanation for you:
Some monsters in Pokémon GO can only be evolved with a so-called Unova Stone. We at MeinMMO show you which monsters require this evolution item, whether the evolution is worth it, and where you can actually obtain the item.
What are these evolutions? While most monsters in Pokémon GO can evolve using a certain amount of candies, there are a few exceptions. For example, Eevee can evolve using various tricks.
Some Pokémon also require a so-called evolution item. Currently, there are 7 different types of these items in the game: Unova Stone, Sinnoh Stone, Sun Stone, King’s Rock, Metal Coat, Dragon Scale, and Up-Grade.
However, you cannot use these items arbitrarily to evolve Pokémon, since the game specifies exactly which item must be used for each evolution. We have summarized which monsters you can evolve using an Unova Stone and whether the evolution is worth it below.
7 Monsters you can evolve with an Unova Stone
How did the ranking come about? In the following order of evolutions, we have based it on the numbers in the Pokédex. Whether the respective evolution is worth it has been summarized for you afterwards.
What is the Unova Stone? The Unova Stone is a special evolution item for selected Pokémon from Generation 5, that is from the Unova region. You can recognize the item by its white-black exterior.
Unova Stone
How do you get the Unova Stone? Just like the other evolution items, the Unova Stone in Pokémon GO is not easy to obtain. You can secure it primarily through a research breakthrough. In rare cases, it can also be found among the rewards of special research during certain events.
Vegichita
Vegichita
What kind of Pokémon is this? Vegichita is the evolution of the grass-type Pokémon Vegimak. It comes from Generation 5 and belongs to the regional monsters in the game. You can find Vegimak outside of special events only in Asia and the Pacific region.
Is the evolution worth it? The small green monkey and its pre-evolution are not particularly strong, which is why they do not play a role in the GO Battle League or in raids. An evolution is therefore primarily worthwhile for registration in the Pokédex. To evolve Vegimak, you need 50 candies and an Unova Stone.
Grillchita
Grillchita
What kind of Pokémon is this? The evolution of Grillmak is the fire-type Pokémon Grillchita. Just like Vegichita, it comes from Generation 5 and is a regional Pokémon. Grillmak spawns primarily in Europe, Africa, India, and the Middle East, which is why you will encounter it occasionally in the game.
Is the evolution worth it? Grillmak and Grillchita also have rather weak stats, which is why they are rarely used in raids and PvP battles. Similar to Vegichita, an evolution here is primarily worthwhile for completing the Pokédex. You also need 50 candies and an Unova Stone for this.
Sodachita
Sodachita
What kind of Pokémon is this? The third regional monkey Pokémon in this group is Sodachita. The pre-evolution of the water-type Pokémon, Sodamak, is typically found only in America and Greenland.
Is the evolution worth it? Sodachita can also struggle in the GO Battle League and in raids due to its lower stats. For this reason, it is also primarily suitable for the Pokédex. Just like with Vegimak and Grillmak, you need 50 candies and an Unova Stone to evolve Sodamak.
Somnivora
Somnivora
What kind of Pokémon is this? Somnivora is the evolution of Somniam. This psychic-type Pokémon from Generation 5 can be found in the wild worldwide and mainly spawns in windy weather.
Is the evolution worth it? Unlike Vegichita, Grillchita, and Sodachita, Somnivora can score with good stamina. However, its attack and defense stats are not sufficient for it to be interesting for use in raids or the GO Battle League. Thus, you should also primarily use the 50 candies and the Unova Stone for registration in the Pokédex.
Chillabell
Chillabell
What kind of Pokémon is this? The normal-type Pokémon Chillabell is the evolution of Picochilla and also comes from Generation 5. You can find the small mouse particularly in the wild during partial cloudiness.
Is the evolution worth it? Both Picochilla and Chillabell are not particularly strong. For this reason, Chillabell is also not among the best attackers in Pokémon GO and can hardly convince in the GO Battle League, which is why you should mainly evolve it for the entry in the Pokédex. Again, you will need 50 candies and an Unova Stone for the evolution.
Zapplarang
Zapplarang
What kind of Pokémon is this? Zapplarang is the final evolution of Zapplardin. This Pokémon from Generation 5 belongs to the Electric type. Zapplardin primarily spawns in the wild during rain but can also occasionally be obtained from eggs.
Is the evolution worth it? Both Zapplarang and its two pre-evolutions Zapplalek and Zapplardin are rather less interesting for use in raids and the GO Battle League. Therefore, they are also developments that could primarily be important for completing your Pokédex.
To evolve Zapplardin to Zapplalek, you only need 25 candies. For the evolution from Zapplalek to Zapplarang, you must use a further 100 candies and an Unova Stone.
Skelabra
Skelabra
What kind of Pokémon is this? Skelabra is the final evolution of Lichtel, a ghost and fire Pokémon. You can find it occasionally in the wild, but also in research tasks and occasionally as a reward in the GO Battle League.
Is the evolution worth it? Unlike the other evolutions with the Unova Stone, Skelabra can score with its high attack value and solid stamina and defense values. With a moveset of Fire Spin and Overheat, it belongs to the best fire attackers in Pokémon GO.
And as a strong ghost attacker, it can also perform well in raids. In the GO Battle League, however, there are better candidates. With the help of 25 candies, you can evolve Lichtel to Laternecto and with another 100 candies and an Unova Stone, Laternecto to Skelabra.
With the exception of Skelabra, the remaining evolutions with the Unova Stone are not particularly strong and hardly find use in raids and PvP battles. For this reason, you should primarily use your Unova Stones for evolving Skelabra.
The Pokémon is among the top attackers of both fire and ghost types, which is why it’s also worth having one or two strong examples in your team. If you still have Unova Stones left, you can also use them to complete your Pokédex.
Criticism from the nagging demon Cortyn regarding microtransactions in MMOs – at least those that border on self-enslavement. Especially in recent months, there have been several such instances in games like Diablo Immortal or Genshin Impact.
Those who know me and read some of my articles know that microtransactions and I are not best friends. I can live with them in games like Hearthstone or Dead by Daylight, and when it comes to cosmetic items, I tend to be a bit more lenient. However, there is a type of microtransaction that I find simply disgusting. It concerns subscriptions that promise daily login rewards.
The insidious nature of these offers: They border on self-enslavement.
One pays for the fear of missing out
I want to be honest, I could never quite put into words what exactly bothers me so much about this type of “subscription”. But then I listened to Josh Strife Hayes during his YouTube analysis of “Diablo Immortal” – and he aptly described what has bothered me about the model for a long time.
The relevant quote is (translated):
“[Paying the money] doesn’t give you all the stuff. It gives you the chance to get all the stuff if you log in every day. (…) You pay for the privilege of having your login days count. (…) You are paying to be part of a ‘FOMO’ process.”
With ‘Fear of Missing Out’ (FOMO), the concept revolves around driving potential customers to take action or make a purchase by first instilling fear that they might miss out on something irreversible.
In sales, FOMO occurs when something is “only available for a limited time.” For example, if a skin in Fortnite is only available in the shop for a couple of days, and nobody knows if it will return, this will push some people to buy it.
With these “subscriptions” where you receive a reward every day you log in, for which you had to pay in advance, it becomes particularly absurd.
Genshin Impact sets the precedent, Diablo Immortal darkens it further
Famous examples include the “Boon of Plenty” mentioned in Diablo Immortal or in Genshin Impact the “Blessing of the Welkin Moon”.
In both cases, you receive some premium currency every day upon logging in – but only if you log in every single day. If you miss a day, the reward is gone.
Games like Genshin Impact trap players with daily login subscriptions.
In other words: If you buy such a “daily login subscription,” you are committing yourself, in a way, to log in every day. After all, you can only fully take advantage of what you’ve purchased if you log in every single day.
Of course, one could say: “Oh, if I don’t feel like it, I just won’t log in” – and of course, this will work for some players. However, the intention behind such a daily login subscription is clear: It tries to compel the player to log in as much as possible each day and then spend even more money in the shop while doing so.
What I find particularly disgusting about these subscription variants is, in my opinion, that there isn’t even a free incentive from the game, but something you have to pay for in advance. As a player, you are paying to feel the pressure to log in every day without fail.
More exciting content on MeinMMO can be found here:
Of course, there are also differences between these subscriptions. Diablo Immortal is considered particularly cruel because it doesn’t provide the same reward every day – but better rewards if you log in for 20, 25, or even all 30 days of this subscription.
If you miss one day, you’re out of luck and must purchase another month to receive the better reward.
Diablo Immortal has perfected the principle – in the worst way possible.
I often hear the argument, “But you pay for a subscription with streaming services like Netflix or Disney+ or for games like WoW, and you don’t use it every day. You should feel bad about that too.”
But that’s definitely not a fair comparison. Because whether it’s a WoW subscription or a streaming service – if I “miss” a day here, I miss nothing. If I don’t watch “Sandman” on Netflix for a day, the episode isn’t just deleted, and I can still watch everything I want the next time.
For me, these daily login subscriptions are among the most disgusting things games have produced so far. Game companies have succeeded in getting players to pay for something that forces them to log in daily or at least psychologically conditions them to do so.
Or how do you perceive such daily login subscriptions?

Whether video games really make you better at certain things is still being researched. Now, however, some scientists claim to have found that some skills can be measured better with games – for example, with Civilization VI.
What is this study about? A group of researchers from Liechtenstein, the Netherlands, and Germany (Münster) wanted to find out how well people’s skills can be assessed through video games.
To do this, they had 40 participants play Civilization 5, one of the most popular strategy games ever. The participants, 30 of whom were men, were on average over 24 years old and all were native German speakers and students in business-related fields.
After a preparatory period of one month, during which they were supposed to play Civ 5, they were tested in 10 four-hour LAN parties to see how good they really are. They had to play against each other. In the end, their achievements were evaluated.
The Civilization series is perhaps the most famous work of Sid Meier, an absolute legend in the gaming industry:
This is the result: After the tests, the participants were evaluated in various categories, such as problem-solving, organization, planning, and communication. The researchers draw the following conclusion:
The […] analysis suggests that participants with higher scores in Civilization, on average, have significantly better problem-solving, organization, and planning skills than participants who performed worse in the game. This result suggests that success in the game is positively linked to these two competence dimensions.
It is important to note that the researchers do not explicitly say that gaming makes you better managers. The result merely shows that someone who is good at Civ also has strengths in management – or vice versa.
You can find the complete research paper in English titled “Good gamers, good managers? A proof-of-concept study with Sid Meier’s Civilization” as Open Access at Springer Link.
According to the researchers, a strategy game like Civ can determine how good someone is in terms of planning. According to the paper, such methods are useful for testing skills that would otherwise be difficult to verify.
The advantage of this “gamification,” as they call it, is that participants have less fear of the tests and are subconsciously assessed. In further research, they want to test more skills in strategy games.
Video games are also becoming increasingly interesting for science. We already spoke with 2 researchers in 2019 who specifically deal with video games:
Is it worth spending a lot of money on Diablo Immortal? A YouTuber and avid gamer explains when a big investment is beneficial and when you should just grind instead.
Who is the YouTuber?
DM: Diablo Immortal (short for: “Darth Microtransaction”) is one of the biggest YouTubers discussing the new ARPG from Blizzard. His channel has 54,700 subscribers and he sometimes publishes several videos daily.
DM has deep expertise in the game mechanics of Diablo Immortal and explains to his viewers what can really be achieved with money.
According to his statements, DM has already spent $3,350 (approximately €3,263.99) on Diablo Immortal.
That’s why DM spends so much money: In one of his recent videos, DM explains that he buys legendary gems on the marketplace with the money. He uses these gems to upgrade the gems he already has and aims to increase his resonance.
Starting from a resonance of 3,000, you will receive a new appearance as well as 150% utility of your attributes. This means: all attributes on your equipment are multiplied by a factor of 2.5. This effect has direct impacts on your combat rating and your survivability in PvP. You will effectively be stronger in every way.
DM needs money because he can use it to buy platinum. Although platinum can also be earned, it cannot be done as quickly as DM would need for the jump.
In one of his earlier videos, however, DM also explains that he can pay his rent and make a living through the videos. Investments in Diablo Immortal are seen as an investment in his work.
You can check how exactly legendary gems work here:

€3,260 in Diablo Immortal – What does that bring me?
This is what DM says: According to DM, a higher monetary investment allows for faster grinding in PvE. The best method currently is dungeons and with a higher combat rating, you can master them faster and further increase your combat rating.
In PvP, resonance has a weakened effect and primarily increases your defensive stats, thereby improving your survivability. Since resonance can be increased through payment, this triggers the major Pay2Win criticism. However, DM says about this:
So what do I get for my $3,350? I am about in the middle of the power structure. There are masses of people who are better because they spent more money AND grinded. But there are also many people who just grind more than I do. But there are also people who have grinded more but are weaker than I am because I have paid more.
However, this difference only exists in PvP, as he emphasizes. In PvE, the only difference that can be achieved with money is faster dungeon runs. The leaderboards show clearly that many top players do not need to spend that much.
A similar conclusion was reached by another player with a significantly more expensive experiment:
Should I pay more? DM warns quite openly that resonance becomes increasingly expensive with a rising value. He says: “If you are not yet at 2,500 [resonance] and do not want to spend double what you have spent so far, then don’t do it.”
You do not gain access to anything through payment that others would not also be able to do otherwise. With enough grinding, you can compensate for what others pay for.
A similar conclusion was reached by another player with a significantly more expensive experiment:
The former developer of Call of Duty, Guy Beahm (40), has been appearing as the macho caricature “DrDisrespect” since 2010 and became one of the most important streamers on Twitch with PUBG. However, in 2020 he was banned from Twitch and has since landed on YouTube. Now Beahm complains: He gives YouTube so much, but they give him nothing back. He feels exploited. Of all people, DrDisrespect is demanding more respect.
Without a reasonable alternative, DrDisrespect was forced to switch to live streaming on YouTube, where he had previously already built a large channel with the re-broadcasting of his Twitch streams.
Since 2020, YouTube has poached some streamers from Twitch with lucrative exclusive contracts. However, DrDisrespect streams on the platform without such an exclusive contract. Although he is successful there, he earns only a quarter of what he received on Twitch.
The permanent ban of DrDisrespect is the most significant ban from Twitch at all:

DrDisrespect demands respect from YouTube
This is what he says now: In a tweet on Saturday evening around 8 PM German time, Guy Beahm (via Twitter) states:
It’s amazing to think that the platform where Doc streams doesn’t support him at all. No follow, zero communication, absolutely no love.
The impact that we have on the growth of streaming on YouTube is insane. We’ve been exploited. God, YouTube show a little respect.
YouTube pays Twitch streamers a lot of money – Just not DrDisrespect
Is he right? Partially. From his perspective, it seems unfair that other streamers at his level (like TimTheTatman) or below (like Courage or DrLupo) are getting exclusive contracts worth millions of US dollars while he is not. That part is correct.
The question is, how much DrDisrespect has contributed to strengthening streaming on YouTube. And whether he really has as much influence on the growth of live streaming as he claims.
YouTube would be doing just as well or poorly today if DrDisrespect had not switched there in 2020. The streamers who have switched to YouTube have done so because they were offered a lot of money, not because DrDisrespect was there.
The question is: Why should YouTube support him and not a streamer they believe in because they have invested a lot of money in them?
In 2018, they were the shooter stars of Twitch. Ninja, DrDisrespect, and shroud.
YouTube prefers “nice” streamers, throwing money at them
Why doesn’t he get an exclusive contract? Twitch has only bought streamers who have a squeaky-clean image and are “family-friendly” like
Of all the “bad boys and girls on Twitch” like Tyler1, xQc, Amouranth, or Tfue, they consciously kept their distance, even though they were bigger than those they bought.
Why is the situation what it is? It is quite unusual. One would have at least expected communication with DrDisrespect.
The longtime boss of YouTube Gaming, Ryan Watts, specifically approached Twitch streamers who were banned from Twitch, and made YouTube appealing to them. He specifically sought out Valkyrae and other platform stars, but apparently kept his distance from DrDisrespect.
YouTube also seems to simply not want to touch him and not want to connect with him.
It is quite possible that the managers at YouTube know why DrDisrespect was banned from Twitch and are also wary of a business relationship.
How are the reactions to the tweet? The reactions are rather skeptical. People say:
“He doesn’t want recognition – he just wants money. He is greedy – this is also evident in the NFTs in his game.”
“YouTube is much bigger than the 15,000 to 20,000 viewers you bring every 3 days. That’s just a drop in the ocean compared to their revenue.”
Others agree with DrDisrespect, believing that “relationships and friendships” of the streamers with decision-makers at YouTube are more important for getting a good deal than actual performance.
DrDisrespect likes to portray himself as a tough macho figure, but the Twitch ban has thrown him off course as we know:

With Season 4 of Shadowlands, Blizzard is launching an experiment in World of Warcraft. Old raids and dungeons are making a stronger comeback and providing even better loot. This doesn’t sit well with everyone, and especially the bugs annoy many players. But MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus finds that the innovations give him real motivation to play again.
I have been playing World of Warcraft for almost 18 years and have rarely taken such a long break or willingly put myself on the bench of my raid group as I did in Shadowlands.
Although the addon initially excited me, the numerous responsibilities eventually became too much. I hardly had any time to have fun and this has hardly changed until the last patch.
Now Season 4 is here and I am having fun again in WoW. I enjoy logging in, eagerly visiting the dungeons, and I am also happy to be in the raids. Strictly speaking, nothing or little new is there.
Season 4 is generally viewed unfavorably by players because many things do not work as they should. And yes, even though I can understand the frustration as a progress player, the new season does many things right that I have long wished for from WoW.
You can see the trailer for Season 4 here:

“Fateful” affixes are what the raids need
For me, the new… or rather the old raids are the highlight of Season 4. I know that many complain mainly about Mythic+ dungeons and very little is said about raids, but they are really well done.
Nathria Castle is perhaps the best raid World of Warcraft has ever had after Karazhan, and Lord Denathrius is definitely one of the best villains of all time. I have rarely felt so invited and at the same time showcased.
Both the Sanctum of Domination and the Mausoleum of the First were simply boring in comparison. Being allowed to return to Nathria with Season 4 and show the arrogant count the door feels wonderful. And the new raid affixes make it even better.
Instead of just making the raid harder, the new affixes introduce additional mechanics into the game. Suddenly it becomes essential to use Heroism/Berserk at different points or to prioritize targets differently, meaning classes that were previously underrated are now more useful. As a warrior, I currently enjoy the countless targets of Chaotic Essence.
Admittedly, especially with later bosses like Forgemaster Raznal, this is less entertaining, depending on the affix. The Sanctum feels a whole lot harder anyway. Still, the idea behind the mechanics shows how simple means can create added value.
A little bonus: the soul of the Old Warrior from Sylvanas was still one of the best items for many classes despite its low item level in the subsequent raid tier. Having such items now as absolute endgame gear for all raids extracts the full potential from the characters.
The new affix with the Dreadlords in Mythic+ is nothing special, hardly changes the routes, and simply brings a buff that you can choose for yourself. It’s fine, there is nothing to complain about or praise here.
What makes the season particularly good is the selection of instances. The “new” mythic dungeons are really well done. Just to remind you: WoW has brought back 6 old dungeons and added Tazavesh to the Mythic rotation. This leaves:
Karazhan (Upper and Lower)
Tazavesh (Puppet Show and Streets)
Mechagon (Scrapyard and City)
Iron Docks
Grimrail Depot
As Karazhan is my favorite instance and was already in TBC, I know it inside and out. I have run Mechagon so often that I could probably be woken up at night and still remember the routes.
No matter if the new or old version: I love Karazhan for its flair.
What I want to say is: I know the dungeons well, they haven’t really changed. And yet, at the moment, it’s only hard to complete higher keys within the time limit.
I would count my guild among the “better” players, even if we are still far from the top in Europe or even Germany. And even we have problems completing some keys above level 15 in time.
But honestly … so what? Then I just have to try harder to get my loot. That’s absolutely okay, because I want to earn my new weapon, my ring, or my trinket. That’s what I play for.
Yes, problems like the Grimrail Depot with incorrect scaling are annoying, no question. Many dungeons will receive a nerf and in a few weeks the gear will be strong enough again to bake some bread on a +15 without wiping.
To my shame, I must admit that I praised the Grimrail Depot as the best dungeon of WoD and I still stand by it. I love the instance, only the modern mistakes perhaps didn’t need to happen. It somewhat undermines my point:
All in all, Season 4 feels like a kudos to the expansion, highlighting the beautiful moments instead of ending on a bad note. Not the criticized story or the somewhat rough final raid is the rejection, but rather the “Best Of”.
The first 2 new dungeons I could check out in the Alpha can be seen here:

Whether this proves to be right remains to be seen – but at least right now, I consider the reuse of old content a good idea. Many still travel through old dungeons today, whether for transmog, mounts, or simply for nostalgia.
For me, that time was never worth it, even though I enjoy reminiscing. However, to have a motivating force that drives me to my happiness now pleases me. Even if Season 4 largely covers up some flaws of Shadowlands, I am currently having a lot of fun. And I am now even more looking forward to Dragonflight:
