Until last night, Solar Titans in Destiny 2 were still immortal kings. Bungie generously awarded them the powerful Solar armor Exotic “Lorelei’s Splendor” at the beginning of the year. A few weeks later, it became the most popular Exotic for Solar Titans because it made them almost invincible. However, with yesterday’s hotfix, the “Era of the Immortal” has now ended, as Bungie has drastically nerfed the Exotic once again.
Which Exotic has Bungie nerfed now? Destiny 2 deployed update 6.2.0.3 to the servers yesterday, which actually only fixed a few issues in the game and also did not include a nerf for Divinity. But shortly after, Solar Titans noticed that their beloved Exotic, the “Lorelei’s Splendor”, was not functioning as usual.
Initially, they hoped this was just a bug caused by the update. But then Bungie posted on Twitter the addendum that the “Lorelei’s Splendor” had received an adjustment. They just forgot to include it in the patch notes.

A small addendum that immediately led Solar Titans to hang up their beloved Exotic in Destiny 2. While the Exotic was still usable after its first nerf, yesterday’s nerf made it only half as effective.
What changes were made to the “Lorelei’s Splendor”? In a first nerf on March 3, Bungie ensured that the Lorelei’s Splendor now only generates one solar spot when a barricade is deployed. If critically injured, it still grants a solar spot, but now also requires charged class ability energy.
However, Titans could still compensate for this first nerf, as the exotic helmet with the wings was still strong enough despite this adjustment – thanks to the still solid restoration x2.
Yesterday’s adjustment, however, was much more severe. Titans now receive only half as much healing from the helmet. With update 6.2.0.3, Bungie reduced the health restoration from solar spots from x2 to x1.
Without Lorelei’s Splendor, there will be more casualties among Titans instead of Mega-Heal.
This change now requires Titans to die more often again. Both in PvE and PvP.
And likely because the armor Exotic was simply too dominant and powerful. Especially compared to other Solar options that hardly any Titan thought of anymore.
Bungie’s balance philosophy has changed: In the early years of Destiny, Bungie still wanted a “living game,” where there is at least one powerful weapon or strong Exotic every season. Now, balance is much more important.
The Lorelei’s Splendor of Titans was simply a staple among the Exotics that hardly any Solar Titan wanted to do without in recent months. Many even left the helmet on, when Bungie introduced Arc 3.0 with Season 18. This shows how good the helmet really was in the game.

Perhaps a bit too strong: The fact that you get double regeneration without having to do anything other than deploy a barricade or take damage was immensely popular among players. This made it almost impossible to die in PvE and offered the simplest method of application.
In many endgame contents, Titans survived almost everything with it.
In the Grandmaster Dungeon “Duality,” where countless enemies usually destroy Hunters and Warlocks quickly, the Lorelei’s Splendor of Titans provided solid survival skills.
Titans need to think about alternatives again: After the nerf, the Lorelei’s Splendor has certainly not become useless. It still provides easy healing – just not as overwhelming.
This is likely intended to encourage Solar Titans to start thinking about alternative options again and vary their armor Exotics according to the activity. This way, the armor Exotics “Heart of Inmost Light” or “Path of Burning Steps” can also come into play.

The Steam Deck gives you the opportunity to play your Steam games on the go. But how well do MMORPGs actually play on the Steam Deck? MeinMMO editor Benedikt Schlotmann tried it out for you.
With the Steam Deck, you can theoretically play all your Steam games on the go. But how well does the Steam Deck suit extensive games like MMORPGs? To find out, I took two major MMORPGs and installed them on my device.

Which games did I choose? I opted for the two MMORPGs New World and Star Wars: The Old Republic. New World is still very fresh, while The Old Republic has been around for several years.
Both games are rated as “playable” by Steam itself for the Steam Deck. This means that installation goes smoothly, but you need to set up some things yourself or certain commands require keyboard input, and not everything works with the controller. In the background, the device runs not Windows, but SteamOS, a proprietary operating system by Valve.
New World on the Steam Deck: If it weren’t for the damn controls
What kind of game is this? New World is an MMORPG that was released on Steam on September 28. You take on the role of a freely created hero and fight your way across the fictional continent of Aeternum.
How well does the game run on the Steam Deck? New World starts on the Steam Deck without issues. But here the first problem becomes apparent: New World does not offer official controller support. However, there is the option to use community settings, which work very well. The controller settings can also be further customized to your personal needs.
Therefore, you have to make do with mouse emulation of the touchpad for the first menus, like server selection. This works quite well, but it is cumbersome. Character creation is similarly confusing, so I eventually turned off the game in frustration and created my character in desktop mode.
New World on the Steam Deck: Cumbersome controller controls.
The next problem follows immediately, as New World complains that the file “Easy Anti Cheat” cannot be loaded when I want to start with my character. But there is a solution, which altarofgaming.com pointed out to me. With the fix, the game starts without problems.
With the fix, I can then play New World. I fight through the tutorial and end up on the beach of the starting area, where I defeat more drowned sailors and unlock my next level up. Despite many new players regularly appearing in the zone, the performance remains stable.
The performance itself is quite good on the Steam Deck; I couldn’t observe significant frame drops. I consistently get 50 – 60 FPS on high graphic settings. However, the Steam Deck gets very hot while gaming.
In handheld mode, especially fonts and menus are partly very small, and the chat is hardly recognizable. With the Steam button and X button, you can open the keyboard, but I have never written long texts with it.
Star Wars: The Old Republic: Small text, but otherwise great performance
What kind of game is this? Star Wars: The Old Republic is an online role-playing game that was released in 2011 as a purchase title with a subscription model. Later, the game was converted to Free2Play. You take on the role of a Jedi, Sith, or soldier and complete various missions for the Republic or the Empire.
How well does the game run on the Steam Deck? The game also starts without issues. I can log in through the launcher without difficulties and then land in character selection. Character creation here is also a test of patience, but it runs slightly better thanks to improved controller controls.
Otherwise, the aged MMORPG runs very smoothly on the Steam Deck and looks damn good on the small display of the Steam Deck. With my Jedi Knight, I can roam effortlessly across the planet Quesh and defeat numerous enemy groups blocking my way.
The Old Republic on the Steam Deck – good performance, but fiddly.
The ability bar is spread colorfully across the buttons of the Steam Deck. This is primarily a gamble at the beginning, hitting the right buttons. I use the presets of the Steam Deck. It regularly happens to me that I accidentally hit the wrong button during fights and waste my medikits with a full health bar. The game explains absolutely nothing to me: I felt that it took forever before I could loot enemies.
What is also noticeable is the small display. Especially the inventory with its rectangular boxes looks very small and fiddly. However, the font size is better than in Amazon’s New World. The temperatures are also more manageable here than in New World.
I wouldn’t buy a Steam Deck for MMORPGs in handheld mode
What is my conclusion? MMORPGs like New World or The Old Republic run on the Steam Deck without problems: The games either start without issues or with minor limitations on the Steam Deck and are playable with more or less significant effort.
However, as soon as there is a genuine controller support (New World) missing or very many small or nested menus come into play (The Old Republic), gaming becomes quite cumbersome.
This primarily applies to handheld mode. When I connect my Steam Deck to the TV or gaming monitor, the games shine in higher resolution and I can also use mouse and keyboard. Full HD, however, is only possible when I start the games from desktop mode and not directly from Steam.
But honestly: If I’m already playing on the monitor and have to choose between Steam Deck and gaming PC, I clearly prefer the latter. For “real” couch gaming, I will probably continue to reach for the Switch:

How are other games? Currently, I have the most fun on the Steam Deck with smaller titles like Brawlhalla, Persona 4: Golden, or also Temtem. These games not only look good, but they also play really well. Especially games that offer good controller support almost always work excellently on the Steam Deck.
What other handheld devices are there? The publishers EA and Tecmo Koei have announced a collaboration. They are working together on an action RPG that resembles the Monster Hunter games.
This is what EA and TK announced: The two publishers reported that they have entered into a new partnership. In collaboration with EA, Tecmo Koei’s Omega Force studio will develop a new action RPG.
This is a new IP set in feudal Japan. It is intended to be “a new type of hunting game” that brings innovative gameplay mechanics and elevates the hunting experience to a new level.
Much more has not been revealed about the new IP, but the details so far make it sound more like a Monster Hunter game rather than a more realistic hunting game shooting wild boars.
So far, there is only this artwork for the new action RPG.
The developer Omega Force has a lot of experience in action games
This is Omega Force: Another hint that it is a game similar to Monster Hunter is the developer Omega Force. Most gaming fans will know the studio for their popular “Dynasty Warriors” series and as the creator of the Musou game genre.
The developers have a lot of experience in the action game field and have already worked with numerous other IPs outside of Tecmo Koei. Their portfolio includes Hyrule Warriors from Nintendo and Persona 5 Strikers from Atlus.
Most importantly, Omega Force already has experience with games similar to Monster Hunter. Toukiden: The Age of Demons and Toukiden 2 borrow gameplay elements extensively from the Capcom games but change the setting. They are set in feudal Japan where players hunt Oni, Japanese demons, instead of monsters.

Some gaming fans on reddit suspect that the new IP from EA and Tecmo Koei will go in the same direction: a Monster Hunter-like action game where players will hunt demons. A kind of Toukiden with a high AAA budget.
However, these are only speculations for now. EA and Tecmo Koei promise to reveal exact information about the game in the coming weeks of September. It is likely that the first details will emerge during the Tokyo Game Show, which is right around the corner and starts on September 15.

Players in WoW Classic used the PvP in Alterac Valley to farm honor badges casually. However, some teams turn it into endless battles by using the game principle ‘Russian Meta’.
In WoW Classic, many players focus on efficiency. It’s not worth playing long matches to farm honor badges. A currency that can be exchanged at the PvP vendor for weapons and gear.
Those focused on efficiency are now frustrated by the playstyle of others who take the PvP match in Alterac Valley much more seriously.
Most don’t want to fight each other
What is Alterac Valley? It is a battleground with towers, bunkers, and a boss in each headquarters. Each team has a total of 600 “tickets”, meaning they can respawn 600 times. The goal is to either kill the opposing boss or eliminate all opponents until they have no respawns left.
Many turn Alterac Valley into a 5-minute match based on a principle called ‘European Meta’. Both teams position themselves without attacking each other and wait for the capture of the graveyard. They destroy the towers and bunkers of the opposing team, kill the boss, and calmly collect the honor badges.

Russian Meta: Epic battles instead of efficiency
This is the ‘Russian Meta’: Sometimes you encounter teams in PvP that play in Alterac Valley as the developers originally intended. The team charges headfirst into the other and forces them back toward the towers. Then they start fighting their opponents and try to reclaim towers and bunkers before the enemy team does the same.
Due to this gameplay principle, the match lasts significantly longer, often over 30 minutes. Therefore, many players are frustrated and leave the mode instead of engaging in the battle.

This is also illustrated by the reddit user EmptyRook, who tried to participate in one of the coveted raids through the external app PokéGenie. At times, more than 85,000 players were waiting there to join a corresponding raid lobby.

How long do players have to wait for a raid? As seen in the comments under the reddit posts, Kaguron demands quite a lot of patience from players. Trainer HankRHenry hopes that after about 14 hours he can finally join a raid lobby.
He writes in the comments (via. reddit.com): “At 8:30 AM CST [16:30 CEST] I queued up with 65k. Currently, 6.5 hours later, I’m at 35k. Maybe I’ll finally be let into a lobby tonight around 11 PM.”
This experience is also confirmed by hagared (via. reddit.com): “I queued this morning at 4:00 AM with 65,000. I got in around 5:00 PM [into the raid] and the queue was already at 106,811… truly the highest I’ve ever seen.”
Why is the hype around Kaguron so big?
What kind of Pokémon is Kaguron? Kaguron is an Ultra Beast from the 7th generation of games of the Flying and Steel type. However, it has no pre-evolutions or further evolutions. You recognize it by its thin white body, which is encased in a kind of metallic armor. As a shiny, it cannot be caught at the moment.
How strong is it? Kaguron has solid attack and defense stats and can also benefit from good stamina. However, its attacks are currently not the best. For its Flying type, it only has one instant attack, Air Slash, and a corresponding charge attack of this type is missing.
As a Steel attacker, it also doesn’t have a suitable instant attack. However, with Iron Head and Heavy Slam, it has two relatively fast charge attacks that deal solid damage.
Therefore, it plays a lesser role in the GO Battle League and there are better alternatives for raids. Here you should rather rely on the best attackers in Pokémon GO.

Why do so many players want Kaguron? Although Kaguron is not among the best attackers in Pokémon GO and also not at the very top in the GO Battle League, there is a huge rush for this Pokémon.
The reason for this is primarily its availability. While Katagami, another Ultra Beast that also came into raids yesterday, can be found in the Northern Hemisphere, Kaguron can only be found in the Southern Hemisphere.
Therefore, anyone who wants to secure a corresponding specimen must, unfortunately, be invited to the raids abroad. Since it is also the first time to catch this Pokémon in the game, demand is particularly high.
It can be assumed that the hype around Kaguron will somewhat subside in the coming days, and you won’t have to struggle with such long wait times anymore. You can still find the Ultra Beast in the Level 5 raids of the Southern Hemisphere until September 27, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time.

A personal runeblade. This dream was fulfilled by a jeweler who recreated the legendary blade Frostmourne from World of Warcraft.
If World of Warcraft has one thing, it’s quite passionate fans. It becomes particularly interesting when these fans also possess extraordinary talents or engage in an exciting craft. Because then, fans can express their love for the game through unique projects, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that only they own.
This was also thought by a jeweler from Vienna, Febo from Goldschmiedemanufaktur Avalone. He dedicated a tremendous amount of time to a project to create the legendary Warcraft weapon Frostgram – made of gold and silver. The result is a piece of jewelry that does not exist anywhere else in the world.
What is Frostgram? While there are numerous named weapons throughout the Warcraft cosmos, none is as famous and infamously recognized as Frostgram. Known originally as “Frostmourne,” it is a runeblade that Prince Arthas receives during the campaign of Warcraft III in Northrend. The weapon grants him immense power, with which he attempts to save his kingdom, but it also corrupts the user.
Frostgram is capable of devouring the souls of its victims and resurrecting the fallen as undead servants afterward. Few weapons in video game history are as well-known as Arthas’s runeblade, the Lich King.

How much work went into it? “Enormously much” might still be an understatement. Many, many days have gone into the project of the Frostgram piece of jewelry. Febo himself gives some key data in his video:

How much does the sword cost? Those hoping to buy the runeblade as a perfect piece of jewelry will have to be disappointed. The sword is not for sale, but was a passion project of Febo. When asked how much it would cost, he only replied that it would likely be “very expensive”—no surprise, given the skill and the numerous working hours invested in this Frostgram project.
Frostgram is based on Warcraft III: Reforged: At the end of his video, Febo explains why he actually did this. He has played and loved the Warcraft games over many years. His final design is based on the Frostgram from Warcraft III: Reforged. He explains:
Because Frostgram has been featured in the Warcraft lore since 2004 and in various games with different representations, I had to decide which design to use. I chose the design from Warcraft III: Reforged—and I know everyone hates Reforged—but for me, that’s still the best version of Frostgram, and it definitely has the most details. And I love details.

Sony introduced a new system for the PS4 and PS5 at the State of Play. The program is called “PlayStation Stars” and aims to reward loyal customers digitally. However, fans are demanding something completely different, so that the digital rewards will actually mean something.

The first official FIFA 23 ratings are known and are causing discussions among players. Apparently, some FIFA fans do not agree with all the values.
These are the ratings: The ratings represent the stats with which real football stars are rated in the game. From sprint speed to short passing to shots, headers, defensive behavior – everything is quantified.
These numbers result in a player’s overall rating. A player’s values give an indication of how strong they ultimately are in the game.
Some ratings have already been leaked. First, the values were known through a leak on Xbox. Then followed the first official ratings, which showed the values of the “FIFA ambassadors” and the “Top 23,” as well as the new FIFA 23 icons.
But even these first values are enough to spark discussions among FIFA fans.
Fans do not agree with all ratings for FIFA 23
This is what players are saying: On social media, on Twitter or in the FIFA subreddit, the ratings are being discussed. Numerous players are expressing their opinions there – and are criticizing some of the values.
An example is Tottenham striker Heung-min Son. He was the top scorer in the Premier League last season – but in the ratings, he receives an 89 again, just like last year. A high rating, but given his performance, some players would have wished for an improvement: “Man, what does Son have to do to get an upgrade?” criticizes a user in the FIFA subreddit.
Another example is Robert Lewandowski. He has received a downgrade from 92 to 91, despite winning the championship and the top scorer title in the Bundesliga: “My only real criticism is that Lewa scored 35 goals in 34 league games and 50 in 46 games in all competitions and still somehow gets a downgrade,” criticizes a user in the current top comment on the ratings in the subreddit (via. reddit). Additionally, the low pace of Lewandowski is being criticized.
The ratings of the FIFA 23 ambassadors
Kylian Mbappé, on the other hand, is considered too highly rated by some – especially compared to players like Lewandowski, Benzema, de Bruyne, or Messi, who all received the same rating (91): “Putting Mbappé on the same level as Benzema is outrageous; he may have high potential, but he is not on the same level as Benz/Lewa” (via reddit).
The Top 23 in FIFA 23
Additionally, there are several other points of criticism.
Some players think Kanté is rated too high with 89 – he was not as strong as he used to be last season: “Kanté being rated higher than Modrić and Kroos, especially after last season, that’s not 2018 EA…” comments one (via. reddit).
Modric is missed in the Top 23: “Where is Modric? Did EA really downgrade him after his monster season?” criticizes a user (via. reddit).
There is also criticism of Sadio Mané’s position. It is simply wrong: Mané is listed as a left midfielder but typically plays as a forward at Bayern.
For Pedri, there is criticism that his 85 rating is very high – and his stats on the card do not really support that.
Players like Pulisic (82) or Havertz (84) are also considered by some to be rated too highly in comparison.

Overall, there is much discussion about the values. Fans defend some players, while on the other hand, there is criticism of the ratings.
However, it must be noted: How strong the players ultimately are in the game can only be partially determined by the overall rating. After all, there are always players who fit particularly well into the current FIFA meta. A 84-rated attacker with pace and dribbling skills can be better than a slow 90-rated striker.
The developer Geoffrey “GZ” Zatkin was involved in the development of the original MMORPG Everquest 25 years ago. Reflecting on the year 2000, he tells how different times were back then compared to today and how he once sparked a shitstorm that led to a call from his boss.
Who is Geoffrey Zetkin?
Zatkin is one of the original developers of the legendary MMORPG Everquest, which became a small team in 1997. There was no template for the game, nothing to guide you, it was experimental. Later, Blizzard used Everquest as a template to develop WoW.
Zatkin worked for 6 years at Sony Online Entertainment and was then a “Level Designer and Game Designer” – he was responsible for the magic system of Everquest, with over 850 spells (via LinkedIn).
After his time at Everquest, he pursued a variety of projects, many of which involved MMOs and games.

This is what he says about his work: Anyone familiar with MMORPGs today knows that everything is styled and monitored. Developers of MMORPGs like New World, WoW, or ESO are constantly analyzing data: players are transparent. Additionally, there are websites that list every post from developers, analyze every line of code, and present all information clearly.
In the days of Everquest, it was different, as Zatkin explains in a conversation with PC Gamer:
If the developer wanted to know how people truly played his MMORPG, he had to log in with his GM account, cast a “Super-Invisibility” spell, and then watch players in the game while they played.
There was practically no information about how spells worked in Everquest itself. People simply had to buy them and try them out.
The main source of information about Everquest was an Australian website called “Caster’s Realm”, which maintained a detailed list of spells in the game: They apparently got their information by reading the patch notes from the test server. However, Zatkin apparently did not appreciate that at all.

This is what the developer says: Zatkin stated that he had some fun with the fans and the operators of the site who were peeking at patch notes:
One year, around April 1st, I put a patch into beta where I nerfed every popular spell of every single class, except for the most important spell of one single class. I buffed that one.
The designer says he simply put the patch online without any further explanation. It was meant as a friendly reminder that the beta was there for testing.

The YouTuber Spieletrend has spoken out on social media regarding the current situation in Pokémon GO and speaks to the soul of many players with his harsh criticism. We at MeinMMO have looked into what it is all about and want to know your opinion on the topic.
What is happening in Pokémon GO right now? Niantic is currently facing significant backlash from social media, as the criticism of the current situation and allegations regarding their handling of Pokémon GO trainers seem never-ending.
But that was not the only change that negatively affected the trainers’ mood. The German-speaking YouTuber Daniel “Spieletrend” Schilling expressed himself in his Twitter post from September 12, 2022, regarding the current developments in the game, not holding back his words.
Who is Spieletrend? Spieletrend, whose real name is Daniel Schilling, is the most successful German-speaking Pokémon GO YouTuber. He was briefly employed as a “sponsored content creator” for Niantic but ended his partnership in July 2021 due to the support’s handling of a prior ban.

What does Schilling criticize? As can be seen from his current Twitter post, Spieletrend is mainly frustrated with the poor communication between Niantic and the players. Back in 2021, there was a large campaign called “HearUsNiantic”, where trainers demanded more acknowledgment from the developers.
The trigger for this was the planned removal of the home bonuses introduced during the Corona pandemic and a related deterioration in the reach to PokéStops and gyms. Niantic finally conceded to the community’s pressure and kept the increased reach permanently. Additionally, the developers now assured players that they would also improve communication.
However, there has been relatively little evidence of this in Pokémon GO in recent weeks. Initially, there were regular short updates in the form of developer diaries that were supposed to give players some insight into Niantic’s work, but it has become quieter again. Schilling agrees.

Critique of the boxes: The lack of communication is not the only thing causing tension between the developers and the community. The constant, sometimes secretive changes in the game consistently frustrate players.
Besides the weekly box, which Niantic removed from the shop without any further statement, in recent days the contents of the other boxes have also been quietly changed, and interesting items like raid passes or incubators have been replaced with less interesting balls, making them no longer worth the investment in the eyes of many players.
Schilling also criticizes this and writes in his post:
Boxes switch anonymously multiple times a week between junk and trash, raid boxes are randomly removed right before raid days, treating paying customers as brazenly as lab rats, trying to mislead with bizarre prices.
What do other trainers say about it? The YouTuber is currently not alone in this opinion. A recent Reddit post by lewymd also addresses this topic and has received strong support within the community with currently over 3,200 upvotes (as of 23.09.2022 14:00).
He posts pictures of the current boxes, like the bronze box, through which trainers can acquire 20 Pokéballs, 10 Great Balls, 5 Ultra Balls, and a smoke for 150 coins, and writes (via reddit.com): “The latest boxes in Pokémon GO are bad for players, consumer unfriendly, and contradict Niantic’s own philosophy.”
Here too, the missing raid passes in the boxes, especially before the raid day with Deoxys that took place on Sunday, are heavily criticized.
Why does it contradict Niantic’s philosophy? Unlike other Pokémon games, Pokémon GO is intended to encourage trainers to go outside, explore their surroundings, and make new contacts.
For several months, Niantic has been attempting to reinforce this concept again, providing players with various features and bonuses, like the daily adventure smoke, to incentivize going outside. This way, players are also encouraged to raid on-site again.
At the same time, however, Niantic is removing the raid passes from the boxes, as well as from the adventure box, which previously contained many incubators, replacing them with items like balls, which can be obtained freely through numerous other means in the game.
