On November 1st, the new DLC “Firesong” will be released for The Elder Scrolls Online. As usual, this wraps up the entire year and brings a new area as well as some minor changes. However, one of these changes won the heart of MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch during his play session: petting.
In 2022, ESO focused on the Bretons and High Isle. The setting wasn’t particularly exciting for me, and generally, I found myself having a problem with ESO. Everything follows the same old formula when it comes to updates and changes. There’s a big expansion, two dungeon DLCs, and at the end, a new area.
While I know I’m consistently getting good content, the game also hardly manages to surprise me.
However, Firesong surprised me with a small, yet quite entertaining change. I love hunting achievements, interacting with things, and seeing cute animals. And all of that is combined in the new achievement “The Adventurer’s Best Friends.”
Who’s speaking here? Alexander Leitsch is the MMORPG expert at MeinMMO. In addition to Guild Wars 2, New World, and Black Desert, he also plays ESO very actively. He really got into it with the Elsweyr expansion and has since spent hundreds of hours in the game.
ESO lets me pet and feed hundreds of animals
The new feature is as simple as it is brilliant for me. In the new area Firesong, there are various animals with which I can interact. There are dogs, cows, and horses that I can walk up to and pet or snuggle with afterward.
When I interact with the animals, a kind of small cutscene occurs, focusing on the petting action. And the reactions of the animals are simply heartwarming.
First, I hug the horse, then we look deep into each other’s eyes. An intimate relationship between human and animal.
Admittedly, with only six animals, the achievement isn’t particularly hard to master. But it has such a positive effect, and finding the animals is set up like a little scavenger hunt through hints in the achievements. Additionally, the achievement is useful because it gives fragments with which you can unlock a new deck for the card game Tales of Glory.
Moreover, I now hope that more animals and achievements of this kind will be introduced in the rest of Tamriel.
Druids, story, and the eruption of the volcano
The main focus of Firesong is, of course, the new area and the associated story. Jason Barnes, who took the lead on the new zone, guided me through all the important points, including the new city and a Druid outpost far to the north.
It was this outpost that captured my attention because it had something natural and incredibly calming. The water shimmers turquoise, the mountains appear peaceful, and a waterfall gently drips. Definitely a place where I would set up camp myself.
This is how beautiful it looks at the Druids.
In stark contrast to this is the east side of the map, which resembles a wild jungle. Here everything is darker and more dangerous, full of enemies wanting to attack me.
Also visible in the new area is the volcano that you may already know from High Isle. This develops further throughout the story and finally erupts at the end, as Barnes told me.
As usual, the new area has everything an ESO heart desires: quests and side stories, world events with the volcanoes, and world bosses for which you need a group. Additionally, there are new sky shards and of course some Easter eggs, like an NPC who gets pushed into the fire or a hostile frog that Jason Barnes always includes in his areas.
You will also encounter old acquaintances, like the NPC Quen, whom you last encountered in the Thieves Guild. With the DLC, the story of the entire High Isle expansion will also be concluded.
Apart from the new area, Firesong also brings other innovations aimed at all players. For example, there is a new Druid deck for the card game.
Theorycrafters and players who want to optimize their builds can focus on the new mythic items and the new sets. Especially for Magicka players, there is an interesting innovation: a set where you consume Magicka instead of Stamina when dodging.
In addition to petting the animals, there are also further achievements and titles that you can earn.

Twitter users who like to stay up to date with gaming might have heard of the account “Nibellion.” Interesting news from the gaming industry was regularly shared there. However, that is supposed to end now: Nibel is quitting.
What was this account about? Nibel made a name for himself with his Twitter account @Nibellion in the area of gaming news. Hardly anyone else brought news to users’ feeds as quickly. This made Nibel a fast and reliable source for half a million subscribers.
These subscribers will have to find their information elsewhere in the future, as Nibel is discontinuing his services. The reasons cited are the lack of support on Patreon and Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter.

What was special about Nibel? Nibel seemed to possess an almost supernatural ability to see game announcements and trailers before anyone else and share directly from the original source.
In order to share the latest developments first, Nibel likely followed news feeds and other Twitter accounts almost tirelessly – that’s a lot of work that Nibel provided free of charge on Twitter.
The idea of funding Twitter through Patreon hardly worked
What caused the account to fail? To earn at least some money from this work, Nibel started a Patreon account in September. It only had 2 tiers, $1 and $3. However, the expected support did not materialize. Currently, the account has 986 patrons (as of 01.11.2022 – 13:25, via patreon).
Conservatively estimated, Nibel’s earnings might have been around €1,000 – for an effort that likely resembled a full-time job. And the trend was apparently not increasing.
In a statement accessible only to Nibel’s patrons, it was mentioned that the numbers had stagnated already during the first weekend since the account’s opening. Additionally, many users reportedly canceled their subscriptions during the first week.
Nibel saw the lack of support on Patreon as confirmation that the account was not interesting and sustainable enough. Thus, Nibel decided to shut down the popular Twitter account.
I overestimated the value of my Twitter activity and realize that for the vast majority of people, it is not worth supporting. It’s not me who is popular, it’s just this work that is useful. It’s not valuable in itself, but a convenient time-saver, that I’ve now understood.

And now? The Twitter account has been suspended. It is not to be deleted, so that others cannot misuse the established username. In the last statements that appeared on the account, Nibel announced that he wanted to focus on other projects in the future:
After some reflection, I have decided to redirect my time and energy elsewhere and say goodbye to Twitter. This marks the end of my reporting on video games and my active participation on this platform.

Nibel: “I don’t trust Musk”
Is Elon Musk to blame for everything? Nibel’s decision to leave Twitter aligns with the acquisition of the platform Twitter by Tesla founder Elon Musk. The purchase had already been controversially discussed beforehand.

The YouTuber Esoterickk is considered by many to be the best solo player in Bungie’s shooter Destiny 2. He frequently comes up with new challenges to entertain himself and his viewers: cleaning up a Master Nightfall solo would not be a problem for him. But can one do it without using the movement keys WASD?
Esoterickk is known for making Destiny 2 harder for himself by imposing handicaps and completing activities solo that would usually fail whole groups: In 2018 he completed the “Broken Throne” solo and that without the use of weapons.
His new stunt piece is also exciting fans on YouTube.
What is he doing this time? In a video from October 31st, Esoterick is taking on a Master Nightfall solo – and that without using the WASD keys, so without movement input.
He says: He did it on Master because Grandmaster would have been too tedious. On Master, it is still exciting and entertaining.
He is still allowed to jump and use the Sparrow, at least via boost commands. Most of the movement would come from sword attacks, the thruster, and the super.

In Pokémon GO there are a lot of events happening in November again. One of them could be particularly important to you, as trainers suspect it to be the release of two new legendary Pokémon. We at MeinMMO will show you what the speculation is about.
Which event is it about? As in every month, Niantic has planned a lot of events for November as well. Besides numerous Spotlight and Raid hours and two Community Days, you can particularly look forward to the “Astral Eclipse” event. Trainers suspect that this event entails the release of two legendary Pokémon.
Which Pokémon are involved and why a release could be conceivable, we have summarized for you below.
When does the “Astral Eclipse” event take place? The “Astral Eclipse” event starts on November 23, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time and lasts until November 28, 2022, at 8:00 PM local time.
Which monsters do trainers suspect? Already before the start of the Season of Light, Pokémon GO trainers were hoping for the release of the legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala. These are the final evolutions of Cosmog and Cosmovum, which are already available in the game.

The two legendary monsters symbolize the celestial bodies sun and moon. Although Solgaleo initially resembles a large white lion, its orange-yellow mane is supposed to represent a sun.

The special research “A Cosmic Companion” continues
Cosmog & Cosmovum: Another possible reason for a Pokémon debut at this event is the special research “A Cosmic Companion”. This was released together with the new season on September 1, 2022, and initially brought you a Cosmog.
On October 5, 2022, the research eventually entered its second round and prompted you to evolve your Cosmog into Cosmovum. However, evolving into Solgaleo or Lunala is not yet possible.
However, evolving into Cosmovum caused a lot of uncertainties in the community. Many players did not want to part with their only specimen. To calm the players, Niantic announced through their blog that more Cosmog will be available in the near future. However, they did not specify a concrete date.
Start of Part 3 of the special research: On November 23, it may finally be time. On this day, not only does the “Astral Eclipse” event start, but also the final chapter of the special research will be unlocked. Since Cosmog and Cosmovum have already celebrated their release as part of the research, it would also be conceivable for Solgaleo and Lunala.

While most are convinced that the long-awaited release of the two legendary monsters from Generation 7 is imminent during the “Astral Eclipse” event, reddit user kingstX2 suspects rather in connection with the new top raids.
As he writes (via reddit.com): “I assume the top raid will be our chance to get more Cosmog to obtain Lunala and Solgaleo.”
What are top raids? These are special raids that are a bit harder than the “normal” raids and can only be played on-site. You could participate in this for the first time on October 16, 2022, and secure an unbound Hoopa. This type of raid is also scheduled for November.
Is a release conceivable here? On November 13, it will be the next time and you can look forward to a new raid boss in the top raids. However, Niantic has not yet announced which one that will be.
However, this date does not fall within the “Astral Eclipse” event, but within the Rocket takeover that is set to take place in the preceding days. Therefore, it would be conceivable that the raid boss is rather oriented towards Team GO Rocket.

Last weekend, the new community fair Polaris celebrated its opening in Hamburg. Irina Moritz from MeinMMO was on site and took a closer look at the new event.
This is Polaris: The new event took place from October 28 to 30 in Hamburg and welcomed around 10,000 visitors during this time. Over the 3 days of the fair, you could
watch the numerous shows on the stages,
meet well-known personalities like Papaplatte, DoktorFroid, or the voice actor Marios Gavrilis
try out various games
or simply hang out with friends and chat with other visitors.
Since Polaris calls itself a “Community Convention,” I, as the community manager of MeinMMO, had to check it out.
Cozy fair where you can truly relax
What I liked: The event was spread across a total of 2 exhibition halls, where the stages and booths were located. Right upon arrival, you quickly notice that the atmosphere at Polaris is completely different from that at the large gamescom.
There were naturally significantly fewer people, there was less noise (no booming music at every booth), and everything was just much more relaxed. In fair announcements, I often read in the comments that people are not interested because there are no spectacular announcements from the big companies. No Sony or Microsoft showing off their big guns.
At Polaris, this felt more like an advantage. I could stroll leisurely between the booths and take as much time as I wanted. There was no rush to worry about only being there for one day and possibly missing out. It was really chill.
Artist MileDaedalic Stand28 Black StageSpeedrun StageEspecially in the morning at the opening, the halls were pleasantly empty. This changed during the day but never got too crowded.
These were my highlights: Despite Polaris filling “only” two exhibition halls, there was plenty to see. Especially the stage program was packed. Across a total of 6 stages, there were so many different talks, shows, competitions, and quizzes that I often had to decide between several options.
The first quiz on anime openings with Ninotaku on Saturday had to give way to the cosplay competition. On the 28 Black Stage, the participants showcased the coolest cosplays from anime, gaming, and pop culture. For me, that was simply a must-see.
On stage, there were several cosplays from WoW, Fallout, LoL, and the Marvel universe. All beautifully crafted with a lot of effort.
But there were also talks like “Twitch is not a dating platform” with the streamer Freiraumreh, which addressed serious issues within gaming and the community.
By the end of the day, I was really annoyed that I couldn’t watch the speedrun of Final Fantasy VI, one of my favorite games, because I would have missed my train otherwise. So there was a lot to see on that front.
Gaming-wise, the fair was more modest. Only Nintendo was represented among the big exhibitors. So if you wanted to try out upcoming hits like God of War Ragnarök or The Callisto Protocol, you were in the wrong place at Polaris. My attention was more on the indie games.
Here, the coop game Wild Woods completely thrilled me, which my colleague Anny was able to test at gamescom. It will be “coming soon” on Steam and is, in my opinion, a strong recommendation for those looking for new coop games for fun evenings with friends.
The cute puzzle game Tin Hearts was also one of the games I liked.
The future of Polaris could be really cool
What could be better? Although I praised the size of Polaris earlier, I realize that it can also be seen as a disadvantage. With two exhibition halls, I actually only needed a few hours to visit most of the booths.
One day was more than enough to take a closer look at the fair. Multi-day tickets as at gamescom, where many people travel for several days and book hotels, are therefore less worthwhile for most. Especially if you have no interest in the stage shows or hanging out with the community.
The fact that the new old Superman actor Henry Cavill (39) is a true nerd is something most people are likely aware of by now. Recently, the former Witcher was asked about his gaming passion in a podcast. This passion is apparently not shared by all his visitors.
Who was that again? Henry Cavill is a British actor. His most famous roles include Superman and Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix series “The Witcher”. During his filming breaks, the 39-year-old enjoys playing Warhammer or building his PC.

4 hours or more a day is not exactly uncommon. Cavill especially raves about the “Total War: Warhammer” series. However, his biggest treasure at the moment is a statue that Blizzard sent him upon the release of WoW: Wrath of the Lich King.
As a fan of the series, Cavill also has a collection of models for Warhammer 40k, which he proudly shares on his Instagram account.
When asked how his friends and family feel about this passion, Cavill explained that most of his friends and family are aware of it, and it’s no surprise for them to find him painting his models. Many of his family members even share this passion.
However, not all visitors can muster the same enthusiasm for gaming, as Cavill has experienced.
It has happened that I had people over and proudly showed them my miniatures, and they just said “Okay.” You can hear them say “Oh yeah, that’s really great,” and you see them thinking “Get me out of here.”

Trailer for DOTA 2 turns Newell’s image into a crazy tyrant
Why is the trailer so funny? The trailer plays with the image of Gabe Newell, who is considered friendly and close to the player: he is actually something like the archetypal PC gamer. Still responds, even as a billionaire, to customer inquiries.
Here, he is shown as a tyrannical, detached figure who does something, as silly as it may be, and everyone else has to conform to the “Big Boss”.
He gives himself pretentious and strange nicknames like “G Money”.

DOTA 2: Cave Johnson Announcer Pack Trailer
This is the story: The DOTA caster Jacke “SirActionSLacks” Kanner and DOTA host Kaci “Kaci” Aitchison were summoned by Newell to a dark room. The two expect to be fired – but then they are tasked with recording an Announcer Pack that will follow the “greatest success of Gabe Newell”, his Announcer Pack.
The two speakers and a “Gary”, something like a chief flunky, know that the idea won’t work. But it’s Gabe Newell’s idea, so it will be done. Even if it takes years and people die in the process, that’s just how it is.
Ultimately, everything is done as Newell wants it, and if a Gary dies, there will just be a new one.

When can you play again? Servers are usually offline for several hours during such maintenance work, and playing is then not possible. The downtime is expected to last between 30 minutes and 2 hours. This has been shown by updates from recent weeks.

In Pokémon GO, the GO Plus had to be deactivated a few days ago. Now the gadget is finally usable in the game again, but it still seems to not let you catch all monsters. We at MeinMMO show you what limitations trainers are reporting and how the community is reacting.
Why was the GO Plus deactivated? After the first attempt for the release of Zorua during the spotlight hour on October 25, 2022, led to problems, the developers of Pokémon GO decided to release the new “Ditto Pokémon” again on October 28.
Since then, Zorua appears repeatedly in the form of your buddy Pokémon in the wild. But this release was also not without errors. Trainers who are using a GO Plus or similar gadgets in the game and catching Pokémon quickly noticed that instead of a Zorua, they were catching numerous examples of their buddy Pokémon.
This allowed these players to suddenly grab a number of legendary and mythical monsters, which were particularly interesting for the GO Battle League. For this reason, Niantic had to intervene and temporarily deactivated the Bluetooth devices. Hence, catching with auto-catchers was no longer possible.
Niantic finally reactivates GO Plus & Poké Ball Plus
After several days since the deactivation of the GO Plus and other catching gadgets, the use of these devices should finally be possible again. The reddit user laurenlolly shows in her current post that she was able to reconnect with the GO Plus. She wrote, “GO Plus is working again – Melbourne Australia.”

Other trainers also confirm in the comments that they can finally use the popular gadget again. According to the official statement: “Trainer, the error related to Zorua’s appearance has been fixed now, and the functionality of Pokéball Plus and Pokémon GO Plus has been restored. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We thank you for your patience.”
Trainers still report problems catching with GO Plus
What is the problem? Although the error has reportedly been fixed by Niantic, catching with the GO Plus still does not seem to work properly. According to statements from some trainers, certain monsters still cannot be caught with it. These are specimens that correspond to the trainer’s own buddy.
This means that in time zones where the Halloween event is still active, Zorua cannot be caught with the auto-catchers. Furthermore, this can ultimately affect possible encounters with Shinys or monsters with an IV of 100% since all other specimens of this type cannot be secured using the gadgets.

jhochen: “I can confirm that my Plus/Gotcha connects well with all other monsters, but it does not catch the Zorua disguised as Mew (my buddy).”
Amazon_UK: “That actually sounds kind of horrible. My buddy is Yamask, one of the monsters with a lower catch rate for this event. If my GO Plus avoids them all, I will only get it if I catch it manually.”
While most players are frustrated about this error, trainer richfiles also sees something positive in it (via reddit.com):
“This could actually be a blessing. Think of every other new Pokémon release… Catch one single and make it your buddy. Now your catcher clears away all other random Pokémon, leaving only the new Pokémon that you can catch with berries without the other junk spawns cluttering your map!”
Trainers demand an extension of Zorua spawns
Meanwhile, the Halloween event has already ended in most parts of the world and is today, on November 1st, replaced by the Día de Muertos. Since Zorua was only exclusively announced for the second part of the Halloween event, it is now also no longer hiding behind the buddy Pokémon.
This causes a lot of frustration in the community. Due to the numerous problems surrounding the release of the new Pokémon, some trainers are now calling for an extension of this event part (via twitter.com):
