In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 there was supposed to be an XP event with double experience points for all XP types. But that has now been postponed.
Update, March 10, 2023: We have updated the article and the dates mentioned in it after the event was postponed.
When does the event take place? On Friday, March 10, 2023, the first real double XP event for Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 was supposed to start and for the first time provide double experience points for all XP types over several days: account XP, weapon XP, and battle pass XP. However, the event has now been postponed.
Nonetheless, the event is expected to start a day earlier for PlayStation players. However, on the additional day, there will only be a boost to account XP and not the important weapon XP.
The new dates for the XP event are:
PlayStation start: March 16, 2023 at 6 PM – Account XP
All platforms: March 17, 2023 at 6 PM – Account XP, weapon XP, battle pass XP
Why do PlayStation players get an extra day? Sony and Call of Duty have had a partnership for several years, which is why PS players enjoy certain advantages over other platforms:
every season free combat packs
two additional loadouts
bonus for the battle pass bundle
monthly double XP events
PlayStation party bonus
Due to the partnership, double XP events always run one day longer on PlayStation consoles. Typically, the first day of an XP event is reserved for players on Sony consoles.

Destiny 2 has prepared the first update in Lightfall, as Guardians are plagued by a number of bugs that need fixing. We’ll tell you when the servers will go offline and which issues are currently known that Bungie might fix today.
What you need to know today: Destiny 2: Lightfall is still not running smoothly. The modern design of the game still has its hiccups, so Bungie has prepared a long background maintenance update for today, Thursday, March 9.
MeinMMO will let you know when you can’t play today and what the to-do list at Bungie looks like. Despite yesterday’s preparations, the planned downtime will be very long but hopefully will fix some annoying bugs.
Update history:
9:00 PM The maintenance work has just been officially completed.
8:00 PM: Destiny 2 is back online. Logins are working, and you can log in again. However, the background maintenance is still ongoing, so there may still be isolated “Destiny 2 servers being contacted” messages.
6:45 PM: As the servers are still offline, you can read through the patch notes. Quick spoiler – the changes made are quite brief. We will link you to the information at the end of this article. It will still take a while before you can play again.
6:30 PM: The update is progressing. Hotfix 7.0.0.3 is currently being rolled out on all platforms and regions. On Steam/PC, the download is 131.4 MB. Please note: Logging in will not be possible for a while after the update.
5:32 PM: During the downtime, some players attempted to log in and encountered a character creation screen. After a brief heart-stopping moment for these Guardians, Bungie reported that this is an error that has since been fixed. After the maintenance, affected players should be able to log in normally again.
5:45 PM: The servers in Destiny 2 have just been taken offline. Downtime has now begun. Therefore, you can no longer log into the game. Further down, you’ll learn how long the maintenance is planned for today.
If you need to wait during the update, we recommend this introduction to the Day One Raid this weekend:

Maintenance on March 9 – All times for server downtime
These times are important today: Bungie’s bug list is long. So far, the update routine has usually been short and crisp. That will not be the case today.
The effective downtime today will be over 2 hours (via twitter). The announced schedule includes the following:
At 5:00 PM German time, the maintenance work will start in the background on all platforms.
From 5:45 PM, the servers will go offline, and you will be automatically kicked from all activities.
Around 6:30 PM, the update will be rolled out for all platforms. However, you will not be able to log back into the game after downloading.
The servers will officially remain offline for maintenance until 8:00 PM.
The ongoing background maintenance will officially end at 9:00 PM if everything goes smoothly.
Important: Even if you have downloaded the update and are back in the game, there may still be connectivity issues until the end of maintenance at 9:00 PM. You may also have to deal with queues when logging in.
The Arc Hunter’s melee has also had to be disabled due to an issue.
Additionally, the mods “Reaper” and “Dynamo” are currently disabled and not usable.
Sometimes the mods stop functioning after death and respawn. Players noticing this should remove the mods and reinsert them into their armor.
The Mercury Storm exotic auto rifle and the exotic scout rifle “Malicious Touch” have lost their 40% damage increase against red bar enemies.
There is an issue where some player characters and weapons appear invisible after repeated interactions with the accolades screen in activities.
The game may currently crash when players go to the “Travel” tab and click on the “Accolades” page.
Step 13 of the Lightfall campaign quest occasionally blocks progress, meaning players currently need help from other players to continue.
Player name changes are not infinitely adjustable via bungie.net. Players are still waiting for the option to change their name again instead of receiving the message “You have no name changes available.”
Additionally, there are reports of issues causing players to encounter missing licenses, delayed silver purchases, or incorrect silver balances on their accounts.
All these problems are already on Bungie’s radar and perhaps more. The patch notes will reveal this evening what has been fixed and what still needs to wait.
If you notice any other issues in the game, it is recommended to report them directly through the official Bungie Help Forum to bring them to the developers’ attention. Alternatively, you can leave us a comment if you are aware of any other bugs in the game.

During the day, you prepare for the monsters that come at night
What does the gameplay in The Last Spell look like? During the day, you focus on preparation: manage your heroes, repair the city, and place defenses. Because when night falls, bloodthirsty monsters will stand before your walls.
You have a selection of gadgets and abilities to fight against the enemies. Armors, weapons, accessories, and potions each have their own values and special properties.
Additionally, The Last Spell offers you the chance to create a custom class and continuously improve your heroes by providing them with various items.
However, be mindful of managing resources like mana and healing smartly; you have a limited quota. You also need to approach the battle against the monsters strategically, learn their weaknesses and strengths, and act accordingly.
Prepare to fail – and not just a little. As a roguelite, you will gradually learn from your previous mistakes to do better next time. However, you can also choose from 6 different difficulty levels to adjust the challenge for yourself.
The game is purely single-player, which you play solo.

RuggedRhino: “Combines the best elements of tower defense, zombie apocalypse, and base building in a roguelike RPG that constantly makes you feel like you’re on a knife’s edge, between being incredibly OP and getting overrun. The game is tough but fair and doesn’t pull any punches.”
ItsJ-: “Great roguelite and turn-based game. Probably the best.”
AxtinMartin: “One of the best rogue-lites I’ve played, especially in the defense aspect. Well-balanced, unique, and rewarding. Recommended for any fan of the genre! The graphics and long playtime are maybe the only downsides.”

Game developers and publishers can now independently publish their games on the Epic Games Store. The head of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, took the opportunity to criticize Steam.
Who is this about?
Tim Sweeney is a 52-year-old American and the CEO and founder of Epic Games
What does the head of Epic Games say? According to the American gaming magazine PC Gamer, Sweeney voiced his concerns about Steam in a phone call, stating that the platform has created a problem for the industry.
Sweeney refers to Steam’s multiplayer API “Steamworks”. Valve’s online system does not work in any other store except Steam:
They have a classic lock-in strategy, where they develop these services that only work with their store, and they leverage the fact that they have the largest market share to encourage everyone to deliver games that don’t work in other stores. […]
Additionally, Sweeney reports on issues he and Epic Games faced with multiplayer games that had limited multiplayer features due to Steamworks limitations:
“We were early hit by this problem with a number of multiplayer games that came to the Epic Games Store. Steamworks did not work in our store, so they either had limited or no multiplayer features, or they were restricted to a much smaller audience in the early days of the Epic Games Store, so there were a lot of multiplayer games that felt really broken.”
Why is the Epic chief talking about Steam? As Epic Games announced, today marks the official launch of the so-called “self-publishing tools”.
The self-publishing tool allows developers and publishers to independently publish their games on the Epic Games Store if the games meet certain requirements (via store.epicgames.com)
That game developers can independently publish their games has also been possible on Steam for some time through the Steamworks distribution program (via partner.steamgames.com).
The difference between Steam and Epic Games is, however, a requirement from Epic Games that demands multiplayer games to enable PC crossplay between the different launchers.
Players should thus be able to play with their friends even if they have the game on a different launcher like Steam, to avoid the issues Sweeney mentioned with Steamworks.
One of the many indie developers who published their game on Steam is YouTuber Belluar. In a video, he recently mentioned the “30% cut” that Steam takes from every sale.
Diablo 4 will also offer its own endgame, and you will gradually be confronted with it. Therefore, we show you in our overview which activities you can pursue after leveling your hero to keep you busy.
When does the endgame in Diablo 4 start? Basically, the endgame only begins when you have completed the campaign and reached the maximum level. After that, you have free rein to tackle various activities in the hack-and-slash. We show you what might be interesting for you and explain how they work.
Start video
Diablo 4: New gameplay for the open beta of the new action RPG
This is what Diablo 4 has to offer in terms of endgame
Only with the maximum level of 100 levels does Diablo 4 become interesting, because from then on, the truly challenging activities for your heroes begin. Now let’s start with the first activity:
What kind of activity is this? The Tree of Whispers is one of the endgame activities that Diablo 4 has to offer. This tree will regularly provide you with new quests to tackle. If you complete these, you will be rewarded with loot, gold, and favors. Later, you can exchange your accumulated favors at the tree for more loot.
World Event: Helltide
What kind of activity is this? Blizzard has developed a special event for the open world that only occurs for you after you have unlocked and activated world difficulty “Nightmare”. The event is called Helltide and causes demons from Lilith to wreak havoc in Sanctuary. They are more powerful and stronger than you.
If you kill one of these beasts, they will drop “Ember” items. You can then redeem these at a special Helltide chest to gain loot. However, be careful, as this ember will be dropped as soon as you die. You can, however, pick it up again if you can find it.
Nightmare Dungeons
What kind of activity is this? Nightmare Dungeons are at the same level as Nightmare difficulty and are dungeons with challenging enemies and good loot. Once you unlock them, modifiers will be set thanks to the Nightmare seals that make the dungeon even harder. The more seals you collect, the harder it gets.
If you tackle more difficult world difficulties, additional Nightmare dungeons will also be unlocked over time.
Fields of Hatred – PvP
What kind of activity is this? These are large areas in the open world used for PvP. In this area, players can meet and compete against each other with various builds. Materials can then be obtained and exchanged at an altar for cosmetic items.
It is not a direct endgame, but it is very likely that many players with strong endgame builds will destroy you. So be warned if you enter these areas as a freshly baked hero.
What about the seasons? Diablo 4 is supposed to become a service game, delivering players new content constantly so that the fun never stops. Upcoming seasons could not only bring new cosmetic items but also seasonal activities that could bring fresh air like in Path of Exile. However, it is not yet possible to estimate exactly what Blizzard has planned before the release.
Also, note that we have compiled all the information available about the endgame. If any further information arises, we will, of course, update this article. What do you think of the endgame offering? Are you satisfied? Feel free to leave us a comment!
Cat memes have always been an integral part of internet culture. If you’ve been active on social media or on Steam lately, you may have noticed a special specimen of this genus: the 3D model of a black-and-white cat. Perhaps it has been spinning. We at MeinMMO explain what lies behind it.
Note: The featured image is a symbolic image.
What is this meme? The black-and-white cat has received many names online. According to Know Your Meme, the names Maxwell the Cat and Spinning Cat have prevailed. It is the low-poly model of a cat, with its paws hidden beneath its body in a perfect bread loaf manner.
Sometimes the cat spins, accompanied by doodle music. The meme has already circulated through almost all social networks. If you want, you can enjoy 10 hours of Maxwell the Cat on YouTube – the embedded video has gathered 2.5 million views in 2 months.

How did it all start? Maxwell first appeared on the file hosting site imgur. On November 20, 2017, the user Voidhawk42 posted a photo of a rebellious cat that made itself comfortable on a piece of paper with the inscription “Please do not fold”.
It seems to be a shipping label that is visibly bent due to the weight of the cat. The title of the work is: “Cat does not care for the laws of man” (via imgur).
How did the cat end up on Steam? After the image had spread across social networks for years and the cat had been given various names, it finally made its way to the gaming platform Steam.
In the workshop of the cult sandbox Garry’s Mod, a user posted a low-poly model of the house cat under the name “dingus” on October 12, 2022 (via Steam). There, Maxwell enjoyed quite a popularity and gathered over 34,500 views (as of March 9, 2023).
A few days later, on October 21, 2022, another Steam user made a portable object in the game out of the model. This was even better received than the original and was viewed more than 180,000 times (via Steam).
With this post, the name Maxwell also established itself for the house cat and began its triumphant march across the internet. Maxwell could now practically be carried around, as seen in this YouTube video:

On November 4, Maxwell finally began to spin. Twitter user blastycat posted a GIF of the rotating cat paw, which was then made by another Twitter user into a “playable” item in the style of Final Fantasy:

Later, the spinning animation was set to music and videos with different songs went viral. Once again, the influence of the app TikTok, which is especially popular among young people, became evident, as the short clips with Maxwell gathered millions of likes there.
Who is Maxwell really? As Kotaku reports, Maxwell was actually named Jess and passed away in early 2020. The owners stated that despite regular online activity, they were unaware of the spread of their cat as a meme. However, it is nice that Jess could live on in this way online.
With The Finals, former Battlefield developers are working on a new first-person shooter that is currently in a closed beta and focuses on destructible environments. It plays really well and a new shooting giant could emerge here. MeinMMO lists what speaks for and against this.
Update, March 10: We have added a 3rd reason against it after a few more rounds.
What kind of game is The Finals? The main feature of the new free-to-play first-person shooter is destructible environments. There are constant bangs, crashes, and thunder – parts of buildings fly everywhere, and no cover is safe.
The Embark Studios have gathered some DICE veterans who previously worked on Battlefield. They take the destructive power of Battlefield and turn it into a fast-paced and aggressive arena shooter.
We at MeinMMO have already spent several hours in the shooter and see a lot of potential. The Finals could become one of the best new shooters of recent years. What speaks for it and what obstacles there are, you can find out here.
Here you can find a preview report of The Finals. If you want to see gameplay, you can find 2 complete, uncut matches here:

The Finals: Beta Gameplay – 2 complete Matches
Reason 1: Destructible Environments
The most obvious reason, what can I say. The Finals lets you smash everything, gives you plenty of explosives at your disposal, and other abilities with which you can demolish houses.
The Heavy class has a charge attack that literally breaks through walls with your head – despite all proverbs.
Unlike Battlefield, the remnants of your rampage remain in the game. The demolished houses are calculated server-side. This means that every player sees the same broken elements, making them tactically relevant.
The Finals manages to optimally showcase its big star “destructible environments”, not just in gameplay. The visuals and the sound are also impressive, creating a tense, action-packed atmosphere that leaves hardly any time for boredom.
The entire floor beneath the cash box is gone.
Reason 2: Complementary Mechanics
The Finals is not just mindless shooting where the team that destroys the most enemies and houses wins. The main game mode is a variant of “Capture the Flag” – you collect a cash canister, must bring it to a cashout box, and defend the box until the cash is in the account.
This means you are constantly on the move, creating dynamism. The movement is optimally designed and does not hinder you. The Light class even has a pretty long grappling hook, but there are also many ziplines for the other classes to quickly cover vertical or horizontal distances.
In addition, there is the class gameplay. There are a total of 3 classes – Light, Medium, and Heavy. Each comes with its own weapons, values, and abilities that sometimes overlap. However, the “specializations” (like the grappling hook of the Light class) are class-exclusive.
Movement, game mode, and class gameplay are ideally tailored to the destruction feature. Everything interlocks, making The Finals a very intuitive shooter – easy to learn, hard to master.
The 3 classes with their specializations
Reason 3: One Doesn’t Want Too Much
In a presentation about The Finals, the developers explained: “When players in a match ask themselves – ‘Can I do this?’, the answer should always be ‘Yes!’” This makes The Finals so fun because it is often exactly that (though not always).
Nevertheless, Embark Studios did not aim to completely reinvent the genre. Although they want to change the genre, they do not want to create a shooter that does everything differently than usual. You can feel that veteran developers are behind it, who know the market.
Anyone who has played a first-person shooter can also manage with The Finals. This is important when a small studio wants to celebrate a big success and does not want to be seen as a crazy indie game that only caters to a small niche of enthusiasts.
The good game flow of The Finals also owes itself to the chosen match length. It could maybe be 30 to 60 seconds longer, but even the 8 minutes play out really well. Often you feel: “Wow, already over?”.
This is also due to the pressure the game continuously builds. No cover is safe, at any time an opposing team can dismantle your position or take over your points. Moreover, the cash payouts increase the longer the match lasts. Therefore, you cannot rest on your points.
If 3 teams focus on a cashout box, the 4th team may sometimes be left hanging and have a little breathing room. However, if you leave that team the advantage, it’s more likely due to the poor tactics of the other teams.
MeinMMO attended a presentation about The Finals before the beta started. Here, the developers presented details about the game before we got a chance to take a look at the beta build.
There were some exciting statements regarding content supply:
We are trying to completely change the way a game is built. For this, we have freed our game designers from all manual tasks. We spent a large part of the last 4 years developing new and smart tools that use everything from AI to machine learning to be able to produce content much faster.
Executive Producer of The Finals Rob Runesson
Content supply is one of the major issues of modern service games. Only a few games manage to deliver enough content to provide sufficient motivation over a long period. The colorful shooter Fortnite is a refreshing exception – and consequently the benchmark.
It remains to be seen at what pace The Finals will release content after launch. However, if they keep their content promise, it would be a strong selling point. If you want to know more about the tools, check out the English blog of Embark Studios (via medium.com).
Now let’s move on to the uncertainties. The Finals is still in beta, has only been playable for a few days, and it’s too early to give a final verdict. Therefore, here are 2 reasons that speak against a great success.
Uncertainty 1: Balancing
At the moment, many gadgets, weapons, and abilities have been thrown into a pot, and they are looking to see what players make of it. There are no meta-weapons or tactics yet. However, as the tactics of high-skill players spread, balancing will become extremely important.
Getting the balancing right in a destruction sandbox is a monumental task and will take some time. Here, developers must keep their eyes open from day one, weaken and strengthen things, and react quickly.
Because with such extraordinary concepts, frustration quickly sets in when you lose the first 4 or 5 matches. In a free-to-play shooter, the mouse quickly finds the uninstall button, and a potential player says goodbye forever.
The mascot of The Finals is a cute egg – what could go wrong?
Uncertainty 2: Focus on Teamplay
The Finals is a team game. If you go in alone and play with muted, unknown teammates, you have little chance.
A big shooter for the masses should also be fun solo. CoD and Battlefield manage this balancing act. While there are also clear advantages in a team, certain tactics can still achieve success alone.
In The Finals, you are often already at a loss if you do not coordinate with your team. Perhaps the developers will provide a mercenary mode or something for solo players. But currently, solo players get hit hard.
Uncertainty 3: Monotony
Moreover, the concept still needs to prove that it can motivate in the long term. In beta, The Finals is a kind of snack shooter – 2 maps and a fun concept that you can immediately feel and celebrate.
When the spring fever fades and the initial hype dissipates, it remains to be seen what is left.
There is, for example, a battle pass and account levels to unlock new weapons and abilities with the classes. But whether one defines oneself through content or further progress systems remains open for now.
The focus on one single game mode could also become a problem. However, we do not yet know how the plans of the developers look. It is important in such hero shooters that you still have a reason and desire to keep coming back after 100 or 1,000 hours.
However, since currently only a few competitors are able to achieve this in the shooter field, The Finals has every chance to become a new top shooter. It lies in their hands.
Or how do you see it? What does The Finals need for a big hit? Leave a comment on the topic. If you are looking for new free-to-play shooters, then check out: The 10 best free-to-play shooters.

Blizzard gives the first look at the next tier set in World of Warcraft. The opinion here is clear: It looks pretty good!
Even though Patch 10.1 Glut von Neltharion is certainly still months away, the developers already provide a good insight into what lies ahead. For PvE fans, the highlight of a new raid is, of course, the associated tier set that makes their class shine in a special light.
In light of the preview for Patch 10.1, Blizzard has already released some screenshots that allow a first look at the new tier sets that you can earn later in spring.
Here is a first look at the sets of Hunters (heroic), Monks, Demon Hunters, and Summoners:
Next are Druids, Warriors (heroic), and Shamans:
Following are Mages (Mythic), Rogues (Mythic), and Warlocks (Elite-PvP set):
And lastly, Death Knights, Priests, and Paladins:
Where can you get the sets? As usual, the primary place for acquiring the tier set is the new raid: Aberrus, the Shadow Crucible. There will be sets to earn in different colors across the four difficulty levels (LFR, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic). However, it currently seems that Blizzard continues to adhere to the catalyst system, which allows other endgame loot (like Mythic+ or PvP) to be converted into tier set pieces. This way, players with different content preferences can enjoy the coveted tier set bonuses.
If you’re interested in more about the future of WoWthis might also interest you:
What set bonuses are there? So far, nothing is known about the bonuses, which are likely still in development. However, once the PTR for Patch 10.1 is live, there might be a first look at the bonuses – we will of course report on that.
What do you think of the appearance of the tier sets? Which set do you like best and why is it the one from the Priest? Let us know in the comments.

In Diablo 4 Strongholds are an important mechanic designed to assist you on your journeys through Sanctuary. We will show you how they work and what else you should know about these fortresses of evil.
What are Strongholds? Diablo 4 will offer you Strongholds, known as “fortresses”. These Strongholds are a type of dungeon in the open world that have been taken over by the forces of evil. When you discover one of these fortresses, it is your task, either solo or in a group, to cleanse it and transform it from a battlefield into a social place for you and your teammates.
We will now take a closer look at Strongholds and show you how to find them and why they are worthwhile.
Start video
Diablo 4: The World of Sanctuary in the Video with Enemies and Huge Bosses
Strongholds are hidden and can be found
Where can you find Strongholds? Fortresses of evil will not be displayed on your map or in the form of quests. You need to awaken your spirit of exploration and explore the surrounding areas in Sanctuary. If you arrive near a Stronghold, it will be marked on your mini-map with a red skull.
How do Strongholds work? Once you have discovered one of these fortresses, you must cleanse it of evil.
You will kill smaller minions
Open passages
Search for good loot
In the end, you will reach a special boss that you must defeat. Once you have accomplished all this, this instance is considered successfully unlocked. As a reward, you will receive:
New items such as armor and weapons
Renown points (points that apply to the respective area)
XP
Gold
Essentially, these are areas that were hastily abandoned by people when the demons took over. When you cleanse them, the people will return and support you on your journeys.
Are Strongholds worth it? Absolutely, because every completed Stronghold automatically transforms into a social place. Here you can meet other players, NPCs, and merchants who want to repopulate this location.
Additionally, new dungeons will appear in your surroundings that you cannot discover without liberating the fortress.
Can I tackle every Stronghold right away? As eager as you are to explore, you cannot complete every Stronghold quickly. Each has its own difficulty level, and although the developers say you can try your luck, you will quickly realize that the demons will make quick work of you.
It is wise to first adjust to the required level and bring good equipment before facing a horde of powerful demons. If you are too weak, you can clean the Stronghold at a later time. And don’t worry, the fortresses are private to each player; no one can complete your Stronghold. You have to do that yourself.
What do you think of Strongholds? Do you find them cool and do you think the new system is exciting? Feel free to let us know your opinion in the comments!
In World of Warcraft you can invite your friends and be rewarded for it. Rewards include mounts, pets, and game time when your friends are active in Azeroth.
The program “Recruit a Friend”, or RAF for short, has been around for a while. Now Blizzard has updated the rewards.
Anyone who recruits new or returning players who haven’t had game time for at least 2 years will be rewarded.
Convince 4 friends a month to come to Azeroth
You can connect your account through the program with up to 10 players. However, you can only recruit 4 new friends every 30 days, not all 10 at once.
Every time one of your friends adds game time, your rewards progress. If 2 friends subscribe for a month, you immediately achieve the reward for 2 months. Once you’ve received everything, you can regularly expect new game time.
These rewards are available:
Pet: Unpredictable self-driving toolbox after 1 month
Cosmetic item: Shredder gloves after 2 months
Cosmetic item: Snazzy buddy after 3 months
30 days of game time after 4 months
Cosmetic item: S.C.A.N.N.E.R. Mk. 3 after 5 months
Mount: Rocket shredder 9001 after 6 months
You should note that the items are only available for the retail version and not in WoW Classic. The game time applies to both versions, of course.
How can I use the program? To invite your friends and connect with you, you must first log into WoW. Through the RAF interface, you then create an invitation link that you can send. The first one works 4 times, and then you can create the next one after 30 days.
As before, the RAF program brings benefits to your shared gameplay in WoW. For example, you can teleport to each other every 30 minutes.
Also interesting is the group synchronization. This allows you to align the quest status of all group members – so veterans can replay quests with their friends. Your level will also be adjusted with this feature.
In addition, there is a RAF window in the user interface. There you can see which rewards you will receive soon and activate the group synchronization. You will also see challenges in that window that you can complete together with your friends to earn more rewards.
What do you think about the revision of the RAF program and the new rewards? Feel free to write it to us in the comments here on MeinMMO!

In Pokémon GO you can recently encounter Gierspenst. But to evolve it, you need a lot of gold coins. A YouTuber has now explained how he collected enough in just one day. We at MeinMMO show you how you can do it too.
Which Pokémon is it about? In Pokémon GO, on February 27, 2023, the ghost Pokémon Gierspenst made its debut, at least for those who also play Pokémon Scarlet or Violet on the Nintendo Switch. The two main series games can now be connected with the mobile game and, similar to the Wonder Box, give you encounters with Gierspenst.
Last November, Gierspenst briefly appeared in its wandering form in Pokémon GO and gave a first glimpse into the Paldea region. It tracked the trainers and let them collect mysterious golden coins at golden PokéStops. Now they can finally be used.
They are needed to evolve Gierspenst into the steel and ghost Pokémon Monetigo. You have to collect diligently, as it takes a total of 999 gold coins for one evolution.
A YouTuber secured these in just one day. We have summarized how he did it and how you can do it too.
YouTuber secures over 1,000 gold coins in one day
Which YouTuber is it about? The Pokémon GO YouTuber Nicholas “Trainer Tips” Oyzon regularly reports on his channel about news in the game and gives other players tips on how to progress better in Pokémon GO. He also connected after the Pokémon release with the Nintendo Switch to secure Gierspenst.
In his video from March 6, 2023, he shows how he managed to collect enough gold coins in just one day to get Monetigo.

These preparations he made: As Trainer Tips explains in his video, he initially sent a postcard from Pokémon GO to the Nintendo Switch for 5 consecutive days to secure a golden lure module.
This currently lasts for 30 minutes after activation and rewards you with gold coins and more items when spinning the PokéStop. This way, you can receive between 5 and 25 Gierspenst coins, as the gold coins are called in the game, with each spin. After spinning a stop, it requires a cooldown of 5 minutes before you can activate the photo disk again.
How you can connect with the Switch itself and catch Gierspenst has been summarized in the following article:
Support from the community: To collect as many coins as possible, Trainer Tips called on other players who also have golden lure modules the day before via his Twitter account to meet. This way, they could set off the modules together in one location with as many PokéStops as possible.

Many trainers responded to this call, as shown in Trainer Tips’ video, as nearly all PokéStops in his area had golden lure modules set. His plan worked out. He and all other trainers were able to take advantage of the time to spin the photo disks as often as possible.
How many coins was Trainer Tips able to secure? According to the YouTuber, he secured about 1,200 gold coins through the action that day – more than enough to evolve a strong Gierspenst to Monetigo.
And that should obviously not be the last “golden lure module party,” as can be seen from his Twitter account. He is already advertising the next meeting there:

In the comments on YouTube and Twitter, trainers are celebrating the idea of the “golden lure module party,” as this type of event is called by Trainer Tips himself. Some want to follow the YouTuber’s lead in their local communities and organize similar meetings (via youtube.com):
Donna Hunt: “This is one of the greatest things ever done for the community.”
exfluffbucket: “I told the people in the city that they must definitely try this out. I hope people actually come and do it.”
Squid Da Beast: “This is a genius idea. If New York ever does this, it would be so fast to get a Monetigo.”
Jake Berry: “I suspect it would go into round 2 on the weekend? Since Regidrago was confirmed as a top raid boss this Saturday, it would be a good time to do it.”
Matthew Vargas: “We should all do this on the next Community Day. If it lasts the entire duration (as it usually does), a lot of people will finally be able to get their evolution.”
This is why a C-Day might be suitable: From the perspective of some players, the upcoming Community Day with Flegmon would be particularly suitable. This is partly because on such a day, more trainers usually show up at places with many stops, and also, the monthly C-Days usually offer extended effectiveness for lure modules.
Therefore, trainers hope that the golden lure module will last for 3 hours. Then one could collect even more coins. However, it remains to be seen whether this will actually be the case or whether Niantic will make an exception for this module as well, as with the daily adventure incense.
What do you think of the idea of meeting as a community for such a “golden lure module party”? Is this feasible in your region as well? And have you perhaps already participated in something like this? Or are you less interested in Gierspenst? Let us know here at MeinMMO in the comments.
Chainmonsters is a new MMORPG that you can play on PC and your mobile phone since March 7, 2023. The gameplay is reminiscent of Pokémon, and the graphics are inspired by Studio Ghibli.
The MMORPG is being developed by the indie studio B-Side Games, headquartered in Hamburg. On their website, they announce that Chainmonsters can now be downloaded.
The game is available for mobile devices in the app store, while for PC you still need to download it directly from the website. It will also be available on Epic Games later.
Versions for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch are also expected to be released. However, there is no date for that yet.
You catch and tame creatures in an open world
What kind of game is it? Chainmonsters is a free MMORPG that lets you catch and tame monsters like in Pokémon or in the paid MMORPG TemTem. The graphics were inspired by the famous Studio Ghibli films.
You roam in an open-world anime style to catch 136 different creatures – the Chainmons. When you combine Chainmons of different elements, elemental reactions occur, which can be advantageous in battles. The battles are fought in 2vs2.
What other content does it offer?
A storyline that spans across 8 islands
Weekly challenges like dungeons
Housing
In tournaments, you can compete against other players

Chainmonsters uses NFT mechanics, hence no Steam
What some players might like less is the implementation of NFTs in the MMORPG.
Initially, Chainmonsters was supposed to be released on Steam, and the official banner still shows the Steam logo. However, Steam prohibits “applications that are based on blockchain technology and that issue or allow the exchange of cryptocurrencies or NFTs,” as stated in the developer guidelines.
For example, in housing, you have the option to design your own island, let Chainmons roam around, and invite friends. However, you can buy certain islands with real money and trade them as NFTs with other players.
There will also be specific skins for monsters and so-called Mint Tokens. Players can then trade these among themselves. Through the token, one of your Chainmons becomes an NFT.
Chainmonsters looks great for fans of Pokémon, Studio Ghibli, and MMORPGs in general. However, those who want to avoid NFT mechanics should steer clear of the MMORPG.
What do you think about Chainmonsters? Do you want to try it out or are you already playing? On which platform are you gaming? Or do you prefer the real Pokémon? Feel free to let us know in the comments here on MeinMMO!
Another new MMORPG recently made a misstep and got in trouble with Steam:
The anime MMORPG Blue Protocol is set to be released worldwide in 2023. Network tests are coming soon in Japan, but what about a global beta?
Due to a problem, the developers Bandai Namco could not conduct the Japanese network tests as planned in January, but postponed them to March 31.
Waiting for the closed beta
There will also be global tests: Currently, you can sign up for the closed beta on the Blue Protocol website. You log in with your Amazon account and will receive an email when it’s time.
However, the website does not provide more information on the topic. We only know that there will be a closed beta, for which you can currently register. As soon as there are news about it, we will update this post.
In the video, you can see the gameplay trailer of Blue Protocol:
You choose from 5 classes and create your character to dive into an engaging, fully voiced story. The MMORPG focuses entirely on PvE, with no PvP planned.
The developers promise an action-packed combat system, featuring dungeons and raids in the endgame that you will tackle together with your group.
Fans worry about the release
Blue Protocol is expected to be released in the second half of 2023, so relatively soon. When the tests in Japan were postponed, fans started discussing in a thread on the MMORPG’s subreddit.
Many worry about the release and think it might be delayed until 2024. “RIP, I can already see the NA/EU release in 2024,” writes a user in the comments, and others agree.
We will soon learn how things stand regarding the closed beta for us in the West. The developers are likely waiting to see how the Japanese tests go before planning the upcoming tests. We at MeinMMO will keep you updated on this.
Are you looking forward to the beta and the release of Blue Protocol? Feel free to let us know in the comments here on MeinMMO!
Recently, there was an uproar around Blue Protocol:
Dark and Darker achieved over 100,000 concurrent players on Steam during its playtests. However, the responsible studio Ironmace Co. has been fighting accusations since 2021 that the foundation of the game was stolen. Now, the South Korean police conducted a search at the studio.
With Dark and Darker, the studio Ironmace is developing a novel “extraction shooter” like Escape from Tarkov. Instead of focusing on firearms, the game uses swords, blades, and magic – it’s a hardcore dungeon crawler with PvEvP.
On Steam, Dark and Darker celebrated some successes and announced that over 2 million players have already jumped into the adventure (via twitter.com). So far, there have only been playtests. The next and final test before release already has a date.
However, the team has been dealing with plagiarism accusations for some time. It has gone so far that the police recently searched the studio premises. Is the popular project in danger?
A glimpse into the gameplay of Dark and Darker is given in the teaser:
Start video
Dark and Darker: Gameplay Teaser
What accusations are there against the developers? According to a report from a South Korean site (via n.news.naver.com), the plagiarism accusations originate from the publisher Nexon (among others, Maple Story).
According to this, the founder of the studio Ironmace was fired from Nexon for disciplinary reasons and founded the new studio just a few months later.
Nexon states that they presented the project “P3” in 2021 and Dark and Darker is pretty much what was developed under the internal name P3 at that time – a “medieval fantasy-style dungeon exploration game.” However, Nexon quickly shelved the project.
Nexon accuses the founder of Ironmace of stealing the idea and using code and assets in Dark and Darker that actually belong to Nexon.
According to the report, the proceedings have been ongoing since 2021 and recently led to the search of the Ironmace office in South Korea.
What do the responsible parties say about it? As PC Gamer reports, the developers have already addressed the issue on their Discord (via pcgamer.com). There, a responsible party wrote: “Nothing was found.” Another statement from Discord is available on Twitter:

Translation: “Don’t worry too much about what you hear from Nexon. Most of what you’ll see online is not correct. The development is not delayed because of this, and there is nothing to worry about.”
The people at Ironmace are downplaying the issue. However, the proceedings have been going on for a while, which does not necessarily indicate an easy resolution of the situation. Now, all that’s left is to wait and see how the problem develops.
