For weeks, the Destiny-2 community has been discussing the challenges of the new Guardian ranks. This has shown that more and more players are losing interest in challenging activities. They claim the game has become boring. But is that really the case, or are players just too lazy to take on tough challenges in the game?
Some Guardians are getting lazier: It is no secret that Destiny 2 is a game that requires time and commitment. There are numerous quests, missions, and tough challenges to overcome to progress in the game and be at home in the endgame.
Since the introduction of the Guardian ranks in the Lightfall DLC, many players have found it increasingly difficult to master tough challenges.
Playing lost sectors solo on hard difficulty? Sometimes too exhausting.
Doing a raid to complete all seals and weapons? Why?
Fighting through the hardest Nightfall 99x and triumphing? That can be easier.
So some Guardians prefer to casually roam through the easy activities or the open world of the game and leave the tough challenges behind.
After all, it is precisely the challenges, triumphs, and victories, including those in the Guardian rank system, that make the loot shooter exciting and varied.

There are also goals in Destiny 2: For me, the goal of any game, including the loot shooter Destiny 2, is to try to complete all available challenges and thus get the most out of a purchased game.
Accordingly, I find it a shame that some players no longer see completing all challenges as an important achievement and a sign of their own skills in the game.
Of course, this always involves effort. One has to experiment a lot, build and test builds. What works and what doesn’t. Improving skills, learning move combos, or dying in the toughest activities until it finally works and one ultimately reaches their goal.
There will surely be players who may not have enough time or resources to face these challenges.
However, there are also some advantages for those who want to master all challenges in Destiny 2.
On one hand, these Guardians can earn a lot of rewards that help them improve their gear and strengthen their character abilities in the game.
On the other hand, they can also enjoy the feeling of getting everything out of the game and not missing anything.
Destiny 2 changes its modifiers every season, adjusts the weapon meta, and keeps shifting the boundaries. This means you have the same activity, but still a changed challenge that needs to be mastered again. Partly through modifiers, partly due to the required wave or high points requirements.
This also creates new, interesting builds that are fun and make the game varied:
Why have Guardians become too lazy to take on challenges?
Admittedly, it may have been a bit mean of me to label parts of the player base in Destiny 2 as lazy just because they have lost interest in looting and shooting or prefer to enjoy the game more leisurely, for example, in the open world. But sometimes it takes a little stirring to clarify what it’s really about.
This brings us to the question, why do some Guardians refuse to actively tackle challenges?
Only 11 Guardian ranks, and some Guardians have already lost the desire to improve.
That is why some players are also no longer willing to complete the challenges set, because they lose them anyway when they are reset from rank 11 to rank 6 at the end of season 20. However, I would like to note that title gildings are also reset every season, which, however, has not been criticized as strongly.

Another reason could be the fact that many players are simply too impatient. They want to progress quickly everywhere and have the best weapons and gear without investing the necessary time and effort.
However, anyone who wants the best gear and armor cannot avoid the tough endgame.
The third reason I see is that many players have been playing Destiny 2 for so long that it simply no longer brings them as much joy as it used to. I keep seeing new Guardians discovering the world with open eyes and chasing every carrot with bright eyes. For them, everything, including the Guardian rank system, is a fascinating experience that they want to accomplish.
Many veterans, on the other hand, are tired because they have done it a thousand times and see no appeal in checking off tasks set by Bungie. They hardly find Destiny 2 exciting anymore with activities or quests.
I believe that the only solution is to jump on the Destiny train and try out new tactics and play styles to experiment with different skills, weapons, and gear. Only then can you find new strategies with old or new exotics that are challenging and keep it fresh.
In Destiny 2 there are many clans and Sherpas who are happy to support other Guardians.
4. Without a team, it’s only half as much fun
I also find a team incredibly important in this game. I find it very exciting to chat with other players, exchange tips and tricks. My clan is the evening gathering, where you meet comfortably with friends, chat, and play Destiny 2 on the side.
Participating in raids and other difficult challenges can also be much more fun together and make the game as a whole more exciting. There are now plenty of German Destiny 2 clans that you can join easily and directly. Furthermore, Destiny 2 will soon make it easier to find a group when the internal LFG system comes in Lightfall.
In summary, there are many ways to avoid boredom in Destiny 2.
Of course, it is up to each player whether they face the challenges in Destiny 2 or not. There is no wrong decision, and it is important that every Guardian plays and enjoys in their own way. Nonetheless, a touch of ambition never hurts if it can crown special achievements in Destiny 2 and allow one to stand out.

Niantic has introduced several changes for Pokémon GO. Two of them affect the popular Remote Raids. More than 20,000 users have signed a petition against Niantic and demand a reversal of the changes.
Now Niantic wants to drastically raise the price for Remote Raid passes and significantly limit the number of Remote Raids one can participate in per day. However, players are upset about the changes to the Remote Raids. Now thousands of players have come together.

What is being demanded? Starting April 6, the boycott participants are to reduce their interaction with the raids in the game for one week. However, other players are already planning to delete the app permanently as soon as the changes go live.

Niantic Inc. and the developers of Pokémon GO have decided to drastically increase the price for Remote Raid passes and limit the number of Remote Raid passes one can participate in per day. Many complain that the changes would simply overlook the players. Because especially disabled individuals and gamers living in rural areas with few opportunities for raids would suffer from the higher prices.
Moreover, some argue that this would only encourage cheaters to continue cheating and spoofing (via reddit.com).
What happens next? Many hope that the petition will lead to a change of heart at Niantic. Whether that will actually happen is questionable. So far, Niantic has not commented on the criticism. We will keep you updated as we learn more.

Crusader Kings 3 is one of the best-rated strategy games on Steam with 92%. And it seems to be getting better and better. The developers, Paradox Entertainment, aim to fundamentally expand the gaming experience in 2023, much like is common with MMOs.
That’s the special twist with Paradox’s strategy games: The major strategy games from the Swedish developer Paradox are developed over years with expansions and DLCs, even for decades.
It works similarly to an MMORPG like World of Warcraft, which regularly receives patches and expansions.
About every 10 years, Paradox makes a cut and releases a new game in the series. This primarily offers better graphics and clarity because the old games, after 10 years and countless expansions, suffer from a surplus of features.
Swedish strategy nerds expand their game over 10 years
Perhaps the most extreme example of such DLC madness is “Europa Universalis IV”:
The game was released in 2013: By now, 18 expansions and countless smaller DLCs have been released for the strategy game. An additional expansion has been announced for 2023: It aims to expand and revise the most popular starting nations.

Paradox turns the bad mood around with new DLC for Crusader Kings 3
What’s the situation with Crusader Kings 3? Currently, Paradox is still holding back with their dynasty & incest simulation in the Middle Ages. The base game was released in 2020, and so far, only one major expansion, “Royal Court,” has been released, which fundamentally expanded and changed the game. Additionally, two DLCs, “Northern Lords” and “Fate of Iberia,” focusing on individual regions, were released.
The last DLC, “Friends & Foes,” for €5, was critically discussed in the community because it only added new text events. Engaged fans stated that it wasn’t worth the money; such things should actually be included in a normal patch. While they are ready to pay more money, they want “real new content” in return.
Paradox was accused of being money-grabbing. Fans were generally disappointed with the development pace of Crusader Kings 3: While the game was impressively polished at release and perhaps had the best start of the series, development has somewhat lagged.
What’s changing now? Paradox has presented a new expansion for 2023, “Tours & Tournaments,” which seems to really hit the mark as it addresses weaknesses in the game that players have complained about for years, including in previous titles.
The expansion aims to bring even more role-playing elements and expand the daily gameplay loop, the routine that players partake in year after year.
Because the process in Crusader Kings 3 quickly follows a certain pattern:
You wage wars, kill rivals, loot, raid, marry your own sister, or create a cult
All of this creates stress that slowly drives the character insane
Therefore, one must engage in leisure activities to relieve stress. This could be a grand feast or a hunt. Sadistic rulers, on the other hand, prefer to relieve their stress by torturing or impaling others
In detailed developer diaries with countless screenshots, the developers show how they plan to further develop these leisure activities.
While hunting used to be a relatively monotonous affair, except when the heir accidentally shot a court lady, there should now be more variety in the events, and players will have more control over what happens:
In doing so, “Tours & Tournaments” doesn’t necessarily introduce new features but rather expands existing rudimentary features that consist only of text menus.
This way, common player activities like pilgrimages, feasts, or hunts become more interactive and transparent with numerous systems.
A new “nickname” system is supposed to make the individual characters in the game even more distinctive.

The first reactions from fans show that the mood has completely changed now. After the last text DLC caused so much discontent, fans seem to be excited about Crusader Kings 3 again.
The highly anticipated dino sequel ARK 2 will not be released as planned this year. Instead, there will be a remaster of ARK: Survival Evolved.
What is happening at Studio Wildcard? In a blog post on the afternoon of March 31 local time, the studio announced its plans for the upcoming year. And these are likely to be a considerable disappointment for all fans eagerly awaiting a successor to the dino game ARK: Survival Evolved.
Because ARK 2 will not be released as planned this year, but only in late 2024.

ARK 2 will only come at the end of 2024
Why is ARK 2 being delayed? As Studio Wildcard explains, they need more time to get used to Unreal Engine 5 in order to fully utilize the new technology. Therefore, the launch of the sequel has been postponed to the end of 2024.
It was a difficult decision, the blog post states, but they are confident that they have done the right thing.
Our goal is to make ARK 2 the best possible game and to provide players with a truly exceptional and rewarding experience. The Unreal Engine 5 is an incredible new technology for us (and all other developers), and we want to fully utilize this cutting-edge technology as we develop a game of unprecedented scope from Studio Wildcard.
What happens now? Aside from the changed release date, not much should change for now. ARK 2 is still set to be released exclusively for Xbox, Game Pass, and the Windows distribution platforms. A shirtless Vin Diesel will likely still be part of it.
Studio Wildcard announces that they will keep fans informed and involve them in the development processes. In the coming months, assets from ARK 2 are to be regularly shown. However, there will likely be no gameplay, screenshots, or even videos this year.
Instead, the studio comforts fans with a remaster of the original Ark: Survival Evolved.

What kind of remaster is this? The next-gen remaster of the first ARK is supposed to be called “ARK: Survival Ascended” and is expected to be released in August 2023 for Xbox Series S/X, PC, and PlayStation 5 – provided it is not delayed.
The special thing: the remaster is supposed to utilize the technology of Unreal Engine 5, just like the delayed sequel. According to the studio, there are two reasons for this:
On the one hand, they want to develop a deeper understanding of the new technologies with the remaster and test some of the “riskier” technical advancements.
On the other hand, ARK 2 is supposed to come with some changes compared to the original that may not be to everyone’s liking. The studio mentions a soulslike combat system with only primitive weapons, a strict limitation to 3rd person, and an overall more serious tone. To ensure that all players can enjoy it, there will be a next-gen version of the original that fans can enjoy for many years to come.
How much does ARK: Survival Ascended cost? For Xbox and PC players, the remaster will only be available as the “ARK Respawned Bundle” with the sequel ARK 2. For $49.99, players will then get the remaster and one month of access to the closed beta of ARK 2.
After one year, ARK: Survival Ascended and ARK 2 will then be sold separately. For PS5 fans, the remaster will be available as a standalone for $39.99.
Additionally, there will be two expansions available for $19.99 each, which will be sold separately across all platforms.

Blizzard is back on track – at least that’s what MyMMO demon Cortyn thinks. April 1st is a shining example.
In recent years, Blizzard has gone through a tough time. Not only did it lose the trust of fans due to unpopular expansions (WoW: Shadowlands) or new, controversial titles (Diablo: Immortal), but various major crises and ugly scandals have also periodically led to dissatisfaction, protests, or calls for boycotts.
The once probably most popular video game company was at rock bottom and had to endure a lot of criticism.
The “love for detail” has disappeared, the “creative minds” are gone, and everything new is just “garbage”.
Blizzard can still do it – the last months show this
But the last months, and especially today, have shown me: Blizzard can still do it, and developers are working on projects that are close to their hearts and understand what the player base wants.
I feel this most clearly in World of Warcraft with Dragonflight. Two years ago, I would have never believed that Blizzard could manage to deliver a new patch every two months that actually provides content – but so far they are succeeding. New story quests, cool rewards, and significantly less “pressure” to log in every day. The game feel has shifted significantly towards “Do what you want” and is less about “Do this, or you can’t keep up”.
World of Warcraft is on the rise – and other games are improving as well.
Even if Diablo IV doesn’t pique my interest, I hear almost only good things from beta participants. The reactions are positive, and Diablo fans seem to be getting what they’ve been waiting for for years.
The probably most colorful example is Overwatch 2. Even though it was significantly criticized at launch – partly justifiably – it has truly improved over the last months. Criticism has been taken into account, the progress system has been significantly improved, and regular events entice with cool skins.
However, the “biggest hit” comes from the April 1 event. Blizzard traditionally makes little jokes, but with Overwatch 2, they put in a lot of effort.
Almost all heroes have received a revision or enhanced abilities in the arcade. Even community memes have been taken into account.
When a Genji screams for healing “out in the middle of nowhere”, there’s a chance it might heal him on its own.
Reinhardt can now fly with his Charge – and take enemies from the sky.
Mercy now has 5 times more ammunition and shoots faster, making the “Battle-Mercy” meme a really solid character.
But there are also changes that are so good that they could even remain in the game:
Headshots from Widowmaker now deal damage as poison over 3 seconds. Poisoned targets can be seen through walls by Widowmaker.
If Junkrat blows himself up with his own mine, he leaves grenades on the ground.
Moira can now suspend her Biotic Orbs in the air, so they stay in one place.
Already after a few hours, calls are being made: “This is just too good for an April Fool’s prank, let this stay in the game”.
Even more impressive – and again funnier – is the second feature that they “just brought into the game”:
All characters have received new voicelines for their ultimates, which are played randomly instead of the normal voicelines.
Here, Blizzard has once again shown humor and demonstrated that they understand how players tick and what they find amusing. A few examples:
Ramattra now calls: “You will suffer as I, Ramattra, have suffered! Your torment will outlast the stars. When the universe crumbles to dust, you will still be there, suffering as I… have suffered.” While doing this, Ramattra also ignores that the ultimate is basically over after about half of the voiceline.
For those who understood only gibberish from Sombra’s “¡Apagando las luces!”, Blizzard now grants a wish, as she now simply says: “Propaganda is useless!” It doesn’t make sense with her ultimate, but the community has been hearing this for years.
Moira completely indulges her Dragon Ball Z fantasy and simply shouts “Kamehameha!” We always knew it.
