Who is currently looking for MMORPGs will find dozens of titles on Steam alone. These are rated more or less well. But could you identify the game based solely on the Steam reviews? Find out in our quiz.
What is this about? We at MeinMMO have looked at 30 different MMORPGs on Steam and sifted through the reviews. In doing so, we have selected ratings that describe the MMORPG without directly revealing which game it is.
We mostly relied on positive reviews, but sometimes also on negative ones. If the name of the game or the game world was mentioned, we shortened it to make it not too easy for you.
The quiz originally appeared on April 30, 2022, and was updated in April 2023.
How does the quiz work? You will be presented with a review in each round that was written exactly as it appears on Steam. Most of the reviews were made in English, but for better understanding, we have translated them into German and slightly smoothed the language.
After you have read the review, you have four answer options to choose from. One of these answers is correct, and the other three are made up. Keep in mind that you can only select one answer, and this selection cannot be undone.
Each correct answer gives you a point, and at the end of the quiz, you can see how many points you have collected and how well you know the world of MMORPGs.
Have fun!

We have compiled a list of good Steam games under 10 €. We selected 7 different PC games based on their price and ratings and listed them here.
Based on what criteria were the selections made? The games were selected based on the following factors:
The games must be available on Steam.
The games regularly cost less than 10 €, but are not free.
The player ratings on Steam must be at least 90% positive (as of April 3, 2023).
For each featured game, we provide a description and a trailer. Additionally, there is a list of “pros and cons” arguments for or against the game, and we explain who the Steam game might be suitable for.

In fact, ARK 2 was supposed to be a successor to the popular survival game ARK: Survival Evolved this year. Additionally, an update to Unreal Engine 5 was planned. On March 31, Studio Wildcard then released a roadmap that shows how the survival game will proceed.
The reveal of the ARK roadmap on March 31 did not show any gameplay of ARK 2, as some fans had hoped. Instead, the community’s fears were confirmed: ARK 2 has been postponed to late 2024.
Moreover, the previously teased “Unreal Engine 5” update is not free – it will be released in August 2023 as a paid next-gen remaster on PS5, Xbox, or Steam.
Furthermore, Wildcard announced that with the release of the remaster, the official servers of the survival game will be shut down. Although the game will still be playable on private servers and in single-player mode, those who wish to continue playing on the official servers will need to purchase the remaster.
The reveal trailer of ARK 2, shown at the Game Awards 2020, mentioned a release in 2022. We are now far from that:

ARK 2: Watch the 4-minute announcement trailer for the survival sequel
What kind of remaster is this? The remaster will be released under the title “ARK: Survival Ascended” and is primarily a next-gen update for the aged survival game. It will be available exclusively for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Last-generation consoles PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch will miss out.
In addition, ARK: Survival Ascended utilizes Unreal Engine 5, bringing not only improved graphics and performance but also cross-platform modding, allowing console players to also use mods.
It will no longer be bundled with ARK 2, but the DLCs Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, Genesis Part 1, and Genesis Part 2 are included. The price after the change is 60 euros.
How much does the remaster cost? If you are playing on PS5, ARK: Survival Ascended will cost you $39.99 – which is expected to be around 40 euros. PC and Xbox players will have to pay around 50 euros ($49.99).
Additionally, the add-ons Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, and Genesis Part 1 and 2 are not included in the remaster and will be released in 2024 as paid DLCs. According to Wildcard, the base game contains the map “The Island”, the battle royale mode “Survival of The Fittest”, and “Non-Canon” DLC maps.
Genesis Pass – $19.99 (Genesis Part 1, Genesis Part 2)
The remaster costs more for PC and Xbox players because it is exclusively available in a bundle with ARK 2 for the entire first year. So you need to purchase an additional game for which you have not seen any gameplay yet.
If you are still interested in ARK 2, you can read all the known information summarized here:
Félix “xQc” Lengyel is one of the most-watched streamers on Twitch. In March 2023, he wanted to additionally launch his own esports team, but that apparently didn’t happen.
The former Overwatch pro xQc apparently also wanted a piece of the cake and to treat himself with a Valorant team. In March, he wanted to sign the Turtle Troop, a team that competes as a “Free Agent” without a larger organization backing them.
However, the deal did not go through and team member Peter “Governor” No has now accused xQc of stringing the players along.

Valorant celebrates with anthem the most important tournament of the shooter – fans praise the crazy music video
xQc admits to lack of communication
What are the accusations? In a stream with professional player Yassine “Subroza” Taoufik, Governor talked about the contract with xQc. He accuses the streamer of stringing the team along for a month and not getting back to them – he “ghosted” them.
The “Turtle Troop” player says they had already signed a sort of preliminary agreement.
We had signed term sheets and everything, but then he backed out at the last second and just ghosted us.
What does the streamer say? Since xQc is always streaming in some way, it didn’t take long for a response from the “Juicers”. On the same day, he commented on the situation regarding the team in his own stream.
xQc admitted that he hadn’t communicated enough with the team:
It was just a lot going on and I was overwhelmed. I realize that I should have communicated more during that time. There were things I couldn’t talk about.
The streamer also explains that he left the discussions with the team to his managers and assumed they would sort things out.
Why didn’t the deal go through? According to xQc, there was disagreement about the team’s future. The streamer originally planned to buy two star players to build a “super team”.
However, Turtle Troop was less keen on the plan: The players wanted to stay together as a five-man group. Additionally, due to his own difficulties, xQc questioned the decision regarding the purchase.
Are the players left empty-handed? No. As a former Overwatch pro, xQc is aware of how frustrating it must have been for the team to be strung along. Therefore, the streamer says he agreed to pay the team for the lost time:
I felt so bad and was so embarrassed about the situation I was in that I agreed to pay them a month’s salary or half a month’s salary.
The sum was “quite large,” xQc noted.
What exactly was going on with xQc can only be speculated. However, it is likely that it had something to do with his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Adept. This would at least fit with the fact that the streamer is not allowed to talk about the situation that prevented him from going through with the purchase:
In FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, the new event “Trophy Titans” is now live. We present the new special cards to you.
What the new event brings: In the new “Trophy Titans” event, there is a whole range of extremely strong new cards. Now there are a total of 13 new icons and 4 new hero cards in the game. Particularly strong are the new icon cards from Zidane (97), Del Piero (95), or Klose (93), who could finally have a playable card.
However, in addition to the new top cards, there are also weakened new icons. The event, for example, brings a 93 and a 92 version of Lahm.
Here you can see all the new cards:
Here you can continue with the original post.
What is “Trophy Titans” as an event? Since this promo has not taken place in any FIFA title before, it is still not possible to say exactly what special features the new cards can offer and what criteria they are selected and receive upgrades.
The name alone already suggests that it might be cards for players who have accumulated a few trophies in their careers. Similar conclusions can also be drawn from the current leaks that we show further down in this post.
Additionally, it can be inferred from the loading screen that there will be new FUT icon and new FUT hero cards.
When does the event start? The new “Trophy Titans” event starts at the end of FUT Birthday, on Good Friday, April 7 at 7:00 PM. This is revealed to us by a loading screen in Ultimate Team.
FIFA 23 Trophy Titans – All leaks about icons and heroes
If you look at the Twitter account of the well-known FUT leaker FUT Sheriff, you can find quite a few leaks there. According to FUT Sheriff, unusually there will be no upgrades for active footballers. Only hero and icon cards are said to receive new, extremely strong special cards.
So if you were looking forward to new special cards for Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, you might be disappointed.
New cards are said to be available for:
GK: Casillas (TT-Icon)
LB: Roberto Carlos (TT-Icon)
CDM: Essien (TT-Icon)
CAM: Zidane (TT-Icon)
CB: Lucio (TT-Hero)
ST: Bergkamp (TT-Icon)
RB: Lahm (TT-Icon)
CM: Vieira (TT-Icon)
CDM: Yaya Touré (TT-Hero)
Furthermore, the leaker mentions that there could even be two different versions for some of the new special cards. We are certainly excited and will update this post as soon as there are new leaks and information.
You should consider the following regarding leaks: Which new special cards will actually end up in FUT cannot be said at this time. The previous names are merely leaks and no official information from EA. Certainty regarding the new cards will probably only come at the start of the event.
The FUT Birthday is currently still ongoing in FIFA 23 Ultimate. If you need help finding the exchange tokens, feel free to check here:
Before the Easter Bunny appears, Xur will. He arrives this Friday in the Destiny 2 universe and will sell his exotic goods to you all weekend long. Provided you know where to find him. But don’t worry, MeinMMO will tell you.
Who is Xur? For those of you who don’t know Xur yet – he is essentially the treasurer of the universe and certainly the most mysterious NPC trader in Destiny 2. His appearance is curious and his visits are rare.
But he appears every week to sell you exotic weapons and gear. You can visit him and then shop for some material from him. But beware – Xur appears in a different location each week and it is the Guardians’ task to find him.
Before we tell you what Xur has on offer and where he is hiding this time, you can discover our obligatory weekly review.
What happened this week in Destiny 2? The Guardians discovered a new bug this week that is particularly helpful for solo players. With it, everything seems to die by itself and it almost looks like bosses are giving up voluntarily. The reason is a poison bug that deals almost infinite damage.
Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, also admitted that the Lightfall experience “Is not what we planned” and promises extensive improvements:
Destiny 2: Lightfall – “Season of Resistance” trailer
All info about Xur on April 7, 2023 – PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S
When does Xur come? As a trader of rare exotic goods in Destiny 2, Xur visits the universe every Friday at 7:00 PM. To shop with him, you only need some in-game currency so that the gaps in your collection can shrink faster.
Where is Xur? This is his hideout for the weekend
Xur’s location: Although Xur only actively uses a few location spots in the destinations, no Guardian knows where he will land before 7:00 PM.
Here is where Xur can be found this weekend: Nessus, in the Guardian’s Tomb
Xur is on Nessus
Xur’s inventory from April 7 – April 11 – All Exotics at a glance

This is Xur’s offer this week:

Xur also sells legendary items and offers unique rolls for exotics from no longer available exotic missions from past DLCs every week. However, note: You can only buy the weapons if you also own the appropriate expansion.
Currently, he has these two weapons on offer:
The exotic hand cannon “Fallen Moon” (Beyond Light DLC) with “Eye of the Storm”
The exotic scout rifle “Tale of a Dead Man” (Beyond Light DLC) with “Endure”
Iron Banner with Eruption in Season 20
This is what the Iron Banner is about: This week is a new chance in Season 20 to dive into the Iron Banner and fight for glory and honor. Unlike in the PvP endgame, the “Trials of Osiris”, it is not about winning at all costs, but also about having fun.
It requires skill, strategy, and most importantly, teamwork. Because those who fight alone will quickly realize that they have a lesser chance against cooperating opponents. So grab your favorite weapon, howl as a pack, and show everyone who the real ruler of the Iron Banner is.
Which mode will be played this week: Currently you can experience “Eruption” in the Iron Banner. Guardians receive an energy boost to their Light abilities the longer their current killstreak lasts.
This loot is available in the Iron Banner: In the Iron Banner, Guardians can earn and also focus many weapons.
The Origin trait “Creeping Wolf” ensures that through these weapons, you have an improved radar when at low health and achieving killing blows against Guardians, and you are removed from the enemy radar.
Additionally, Lord Saladin offers armor focusing for old seasons, allowing you to now complete your collection directly.
When does the Iron Banner officially end? Lord Saladin’s PvP activities end with the Weekly Reset on April 11 at 7:00 PM. That is also the departure time for Xur.
The Iron Banner may end this week, but the fight for survival and the quest for the best weapons and gear goes on.
What was your best experience in the Iron Banner? Have you ever won a match where you were about to lose? Or perhaps you accomplished an epic feat that made you an immortal Iron Wolf? Feel free to share it in the comments. We are excited to hear your stories.
If however, you have lost interest in Destiny 2, it may be because:
MMORPGs are currently experiencing a resurgence in popularity. However, many players often wait for that “one MMORPG” that they can play forever. However, MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch finds this attitude foolish.
For many years, I only played one MMORPG: Guild Wars 1. From 2006 to 2011, I didn’t know any other game and have spent more than 10,000 hours in it.
However, in 2011, I opened myself up to the MMORPG world. I played games like SWTOR, Aion, and later also WoW. And that broadened my horizons. While I focused fully on Guild Wars 2 for many years – partly due to my own fansite – I also tried other games like Blade & Soul, WildStar, ESO, and Black Desert.
By now, I am firmly convinced that every MMORPG fan should definitely try multiple games. The idea of fully focusing on just one game should be thrown overboard immediately.

Bridging Content Droughts with Alternatives
If you play multiple MMORPGs, you practically never experience a content drought. If there’s nothing happening in Guild Wars 2 and all story content and achievements are completed, I participate in a new season in Black Desert or test the latest DLC in ESO.
In the last 12 months, I particularly noticed this with my friends who have been playing WoW for decades. They reacted very differently to the relatively little content during this time:
One group decided to try other MMORPGs. They joined the hype wave around FFXIV, which Asmongold and other WoW streamers sparked. Later, this group also looked into ESO together. They had a really good time.
A few of my friends remained loyal only to WoW and didn’t want to cancel their subscription. Although they didn’t have a bad time – after all, they were still playing their favorite game – my gut feeling tells me that 2021 was significantly more entertaining for group 1.
I haven’t experienced a content drought in Guild Wars 2 since waiting for Heart of Thorns in 2015. Instead, I have continually dedicated myself to new MMORPGs, even if only for a few dozen hours of gameplay because it ultimately didn’t turn out to be fun enough.
You Experience Cool Niche Games
Most MMORPGs that have been released in recent years have been rather flops. I especially think of Bless Online, Elyon, and Crowfall. But I would like to positively highlight two niche games at this point.
One game is PSO2: New Genesis. In this sci-fi MMORPG, things get action-packed, and the combat system is just a lot of fun. Unfortunately, there is a lack of content and varied experiences, but the battles easily make up for it.
I would probably never have tried both games if I had focused only on one big MMORPG. I would also have missed out on some really crazy experiences. My favorite anecdote by now is the character editor from Chimeraland. The gameplay is rather weak, but creating the craziest beasts was a lot of fun for me.
Every player has a favorite MMORPG, and that’s good. However, over time, that game can get boring because you have seen and experienced everything.
When you switch games – no matter which MMORPG – you suddenly learn to appreciate aspects you previously took for granted. For me, these are usually the incredibly good combat system, the jumping puzzles, and the wardrobe/dye system from Guild Wars 2. No other game compares.
That’s why I had so much fun playing Guild Wars 2 again as part of the new expansion End of Dragons. I was able to enjoy the strengths of my favorite game again. It simply offers so much comfort compared to New World and Lost Ark, which I had been addicted to in the previous months.
Start video
Guild Wars 2: Everything you need to know about the new expansion End of Dragons in under 3 minutes
I Play What Matches My Mood
If you play multiple MMORPGs, you can freely choose what you want to experience right now. As a father, I currently only have about one to two hours each evening and want to use them in a way that perfectly takes me out of everyday life:
If I want to dive into challenging dungeons or raids, I play Trials in ESO or dungeons in Lost Ark (here, Final Fantasy XIV would surely be the best solution, but I never got the hang of it)
If I want to enjoy good PvP arenas, I play Guild Wars 2 or Lost Ark
If I want to grind mindlessly, enjoy battles, and watch a series on the side, I play New World or Black Desert
If I want to follow a cool new story, I choose ESO or SWTOR
There is no MMORPG that offers me all that. But with multiple games, I am so flexible that I can shape my evening exactly as I need it right now.
The Next WoW Won’t Come
The release of WoW was a phenomenon. It sparked a hype and experienced a growth over the years that is hardly possible today. However, that was likely a one-time thing for this genre.
Because there are simply too many good MMORPGs now and not enough opportunities to revolutionize the genre. Moreover, each new game will offer less content than those already established.
Only a significant technical change could build such hype again, if something like Sword Art or Ready Player One becomes reality. Twitch streamer Asmongold believes that too. But we are probably still years to decades away from that.
The only problem with switching between many MMORPGs is holding your core group together, with whom you like to complete dungeons and raids or participate in PvP. Such a group can quickly fall apart with manygame switches.
I have various approaches myself:
So, I am in larger community guilds in GW2 and ESO, where we always do things together, but without obligations.
My guild in BDO, on the other hand, knows exactly that I am an editor at MeinMMO and does not expect an active player, but supports me when I have questions or want to experience content.
In New World and SWTOR, I know enough players who take me along when I want to dive deeper into the MMORPGs again.
Additionally, I have a fun group on Discord with my colleague Mark Sellner that is not limited to one game but likes to try new games, like recently New World and Lost Ark, or just plays a round of LoL in the evening.
With these methods, I maintain good contacts with various players and always have a group available when I want to run a dungeon or experience PvP.
What do you think about this topic? Do you play multiple MMORPGs simultaneously, or do you remain loyal to just one game and one guild? Feel free to write it in the comments.
An MMORPG that could spark hype again in 2022 is Throne and Liberty. We introduced you to the game from NCSoft here:
According to Russian media reports, the network specialist Cisco destroyed technical equipment worth 21.3 million euros when it abandoned its site in Russia. A Russian news website claims that the equipment could have been sold.
Where did the news come from? Originally, the news came from the Russian site C-News, referring to information from the state Russian news agency TASS. In the West, the news arrived via “Tom’s Hardware”.
“No Iron for the Russians”
What did the company do? Cisco was one of the first high-tech companies to close its business in Russia immediately after the start of the war of aggression against Ukraine in February 2022.
But only now in January 2023 has the company, according to the agency, destroyed technical equipment worth 1.9 billion rubles, which is about 21.3 million euros.
The equipment mainly consists of spare parts for the company’s devices, which according to the current company policy will no longer be sold in Russia. Tom’s Hardware states that it is unclear whether the equipment would have fallen under US sanctions regulations.
In addition, the company also destroyed office items, furniture, and vehicles – it is said that values amounting to 1 million rubles (about 11,200 euros) were also destroyed.
According to Russian media, it would also have been possible to export the equipment from Russia, as the German company SAP did. Or the equipment could have been sold.
However, Cisco decided to destroy the equipment. The headline for the paragraph is “No Iron to the Russians” – it apparently means that Cisco preferred to destroy the equipment rather than let the materials fall into the hands of the Russians to be possibly used for war materials.
Our expertise at MeinMMO relates to gaming. Anyone who wants to delve deeper into the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is advised to inform themselves on official sites or news magazines:
How is this assessed? Although 21.3 million euros may sound like a lot to us, it is just peanuts for Cisco. The company has quarterly revenue figures of 13.6 billion dollars and a profit of 2.77 billion dollars, so it doesn’t weigh much.
In addition, the company is said to have already written off 67 million dollars for the end of its business in Russia.

We reveal five little details about World of Warcraft that you probably didn’t know.
This article originally appeared in December 2017. It was updated for Easter 2023.
World of Warcraft has grown quite large over 9 expansions, and hardly any player knows all the little details of the game world. Some are so small or hidden that you would never see them unless you specifically look for them. It would be a shame if this knowledge wasn’t shared with other players, don’t you think?
Today we present 5 things from World of Warcraft that perfectly count as “useless knowledge.” Enjoy!
1. Cats – Lazy and Cuddly
In World of Warcraft, there are now over 500 different pets. Many of these pets, which can also be used in pet battles, have unique animations or special behaviors.
When it comes to pure cuteness, it is not the corgis that win, but the cats of Azeroth. They have several interaction options with the environment and their owners, making them potential candidates for cute and beautiful screenshots.
Did you know that cats can sit on your lap? To summon a cat, target it and use /sit. After a few seconds, the cat will come up to your character and sit on their lap!
Besides that, cats are incredibly lazy and have a preference for robotic vacuums that zoom around the room. How convenient that these vacuums also exist in World of Warcraft!
With the toy Stolen Sweeper, you can summon such a vacuum. If you have a cat pet with you, it will jump up and ride around with it. Finally, cats also get their own mount!
2. The Love of a Demon
Warlocks are popular in World of Warcraft, not least because they can lead demonic allies into battle. You rarely get to see a succubus outside of PvP, but some players do take the whip-wielding lady into a dungeon – purely for aesthetic reasons, of course.
These warlocks can be quite annoyed when you steal their succubus. It’s very easy: target the demon and try a /kiss or /flirt. Immediately a heart will appear above your head and that of the succubus.
Typically, the warlock will jealously try to trigger the effect as well, which will not succeed: he has a built-in cooldown of about 30 seconds. This will only fuel the frustration of the warlock even further…
This also works with the incubi, but they are seen a bit less frequently.
3. Sit Down and I’ll Crit You!
Especially in PvP battlegrounds, a break is often needed. If you’ve taken some mana bread from the nearest mage, you can take a little food break after each battle. But be careful! Besides restoring health and mana, eating comes with a lethal danger: sitting down.
A sitting character will be guaranteed to be critically hit by the next physical attack! Whether it’s a rogue’s ambush or a warrior’s execute. The next attack will be a 100% critical hit. So if you’re defending a flag point in Arathi, remember: never sit down. The opposing rogue would surely take advantage of it.
Rumor has it there was even a trick: those who lay on their back could not be attacked “from behind,” which should protect against a rogue’s ambush.
4. “On Fire” – Druids Should Avoid Campfires
For years, druids in World of Warcraft have had to listen to warnings that they should be careful in their tree form as restoration druids. Otherwise, they would be chopped, set on fire, turned into a chair, or similar. But did you know that one of these things is actually possible?

Anyone who has learned the cooking profession can set up a Cozy Fire with just one click, where players can prepare food or just relax a bit. However, this does not apply to druids in their treant form. If they come into contact with the fire, they will be engulfed in flames and start to smoke! This, however, has no real negative effect, it is merely a visual gimmick.
Perhaps just a small reminder of what happened to Teldrassil…
Hardly any race in World of Warcraft cares for nature as much as the Tauren. They are essentially peaceful creatures, only inclined to war when there is a valid reason. For example, when the Earth Mother needs protection or a crazy warlord named Windrunner calls for it.
Otherwise, you mainly find Tauren in druidic circles, as wild keepers, or in regenerative tasks in corrupted environments.
But did you know that their connection to nature is already directly in their name?
“Tauren” is an anagram of the English word “Nature” – if you rearrange the letters, you get the new word.
The beauty of it? Now that you know, you can never forget it…
That was our useless knowledge for this week. Which of these points and details did you already know? Was everything new to you? Or did you know every one of these points?

Sony has filed a patent for a controller that can adjust its temperature. MeinMMO author Dariusz Müller is sure he never wants to hold the device.
What kind of patent is this? Sony has reportedly filed a new patent. It is said to be a controller made of elastic and deformable material, described as gel-like by the online magazine Exputer.
The controller is also said to have the ability to adjust its temperature. The temperature adjustment could occur, for example, based on information the controller receives from a game.
The patent states regarding this:
The shape or hardness of the elastic elements (grips) changes in response to a process conducted by the information processing device, such as a game, allowing, for example, the user to present the material of a virtual object […] as a haptic sensation, conveying the temperature of the virtual object as a warmth/cold feeling or similar.
This means: If you get hit by a Molotov cocktail in a shooter, then the gel-like material of the controller will become warmer. In a snowy biome, the controller could become cooler.
DualSense Edge for the PS5 may not change temperature, but it has additional buttons:

DualSense Edge for the PS5 in Unboxing – Our first impressions of the pro controller in the video
The solution to a problem that never existed
Do you remember the feeling of sitting in the living room with your friends playing a game – just like classic couch co-op? Whenever a level was completed or a match was over, the controller was passed around.
I’m almost sure everyone had that one buddy you never wanted to get the controller from. The input device was always disgustingly warm and sweaty when that player took their turn.
This feeling of the warm and sweaty controller is exactly what I think of with the patent. A gel-like material that gets warmer in my hands when I cross a lava flow in ARK … So I hold warm goo in my hands while gaming – who doesn’t imagine this feeling as wonderful?
Of course, every gamer is also a fan of cold hands. Who wouldn’t be happy if you get frozen by Mei in Overwatch and the temperature of the controller suddenly drops?
Okay, jokes aside. I never want to hold this controller in my hands. The very idea frightens me, and I don’t know who would want such features. To me, it sounds like the solution to a problem that never existed.
I value other features in a controller, such as additional buttons (so-called paddles), reduced weight, or the ability to customize button mapping.
MeinMMO editor Maik Schneider feels similarly, as he still raves about his recent purchase:
Of course, every gamer is also a fan of cold hands. Who wouldn’t be happy if you get frozen by Mei in Overwatch and the temperature of the controller suddenly drops?

In FFXIV you follow a main quest line, the main scenario, from the very beginning, which guides you through various areas. The unlocking of riding is closely tied to it. During the story, you will receive your first mount – a Chocobo. The yellow bird has been a part of the series since Final Fantasy II and is also indispensable in Final Fantasy XIV.
This is how you start the Chocobo quest
To get your first mount, you need to complete a quest called “My own Chocobo”.
To obtain this, there are a few prerequisites. First, you need to reach level 20, which happens anyway within the main story, as the quests provide you with plenty of experience.
When you also arrive at level 20 through the main scenario, there is a point where you choose between 3 quests and thus join a state company:
“In the service of the Brotherhood” for Gridania
“In the service of the Maelstrom” for Limsa Lominsa
“In the service of the Legion” for Ul’dah
If you have joined one of the three companies, another quest follows. You will receive 200 state coins, which you will need later.
What are state coins? They are a currency used by the state companies. You receive them by completing FATES, and you can exchange them for equipment and other items in the city.
Now you can accept the Chocobo quest. For that, go to the company’s base in the respective city.

Obtaining a Chocobo License
What do I do with the state coins? You now need to exchange your received state coins for a Chocobo license. For that, go to the supply officer of the respective city. There you exchange your state coins. Here are the coordinates for the officer in each city:
Limsa Lominsa – Upper Decks (x: 13 / Y: 12.6)
New Gridania – (X: 9.8 / Y: 12.6)
Ul’dah – Nald’s Crossroads (X: 8.4 / Y: 9.2)
For 200 coins you will finally receive the Chocobo license of the Maelstrom, the Brotherhood, or the Legion – depending on the selected company. This does not affect your mount.
Next, you can go to a Chocobo stable and exchange the license for your bird. Since this is your first mount, you can even choose a name yourself. This is no longer possible with later mounts.
In addition to your newly obtained mount, you receive a Chocobo whistle. Select it in your inventory and click on “Use” – This allows you to learn how to summon your mount.
Afterwards, you will receive the command “Mount up/Send away” with the icon of a Chocobo head. This allows you to summon your mount and send it away. It’s best to drag the command into your action bar.
In the mount directory, you can then see your Chocobo and all the other mounts you will receive.
Have you already received your first Chocobo? What name did you give it? Feel free to write it to us in the comments here on MeinMMO!
World of Warcraft will give players more time. Mythic+ will be more relaxed, and the “stress” will only come later.
Even if Blizzard does not implement all the changes that the World of Warcraft community wants for the “Mythic+” system, the developers are trying out new things. The latest version of Patch 10.1 Neltharion’s Fury on the PTR has several changes and changes “Mythic+” quite drastically. In the future, you will have fewer affixes, and they will come much later.
What will change? With the next patch, the levels at which affixes are added in the “Mythic+” area will change. The whole system is being broadened so that you will have to deal with multiple affixes later. In the future, it will be as follows:
The 1st affix (Tyrannical or Fortified) will still appear at the start, directly at level 2.
The 2nd affix will be added at level 7.
The 3rd affix will be added at level 14.
From keystone level 14 and above, you will henceforth have the maximum of 3 affixes active in a dungeon.
Just to compare: Currently, affixes are added at levels 2, 4, 7, and 10, so that you already have the maximum of 4 affixes in a dungeon from level 10. That will soon be a thing of the past.
Why is Blizzard doing this? Blizzard has several goals in mind.
On the one hand, the new distribution makes more sense in connection with the reward structure. Mythic keystone dungeons provide increasingly better gear as loot up to level 20. It makes sense to spread the additional difficulties better over the range of 20 levels.
The second reason is that they want to give players more time to get used to dungeons and experience them without being overwhelmed by the affixes and the resulting additional complexity.
The latter is especially a problem later in the course of a season. Because at lower levels, well-equipped heroes plow through the dungeons so quickly that newcomers hardly see boss mechanics or special features because the bosses often die before they can use their abilities. At higher levels, on the other hand, you are so busy dealing with so many affixes that you hardly realize what is actually part of the boss fight and what is an additional affix.
The learning curve should thus become much more pleasant, and the entry barrier for “Mythic+” should be lowered.
What do you think of this change to Mythic+? A good idea or just a drop in the bucket?
On April 6, the five-time chess world champion Magnus Carlsen, who is widely regarded as a genius in chess, experienced something quite silly. He was involved in a chess match with Twitch streamer Hikaru Nakamura when his mouse slipped.
What a game it was! It was the “Losers Final” at the Champion Chess Tour Chessable Masters 2023: The match before the final, where an opponent for Fabiano Caruana was being sought.
The winner of the grand final receives a prize of $30,000.
The two played the first games to a draw, which led to an “Armageddon” game: Nakamura got the black pieces. Therefore, a draw was enough for him to move forward. Carlsen had to win.
Chess has reached the mainstream due to Netflix’s “The Queen’s Gambit”

Under maximum pressure, Carlsen foolishly slips with the mouse
Here’s how the match went: The clock was ticking down, and the pressure on both increased. They were in the endgame, each having 3 pawns, their king, and the queen.
Carlsen pressured Nakamura’s king with the queen. As both players had only seconds left, Carlsen slipped in the silliest way possible with the mouse and moved his queen to an uncovered square, where Nakamura could easily take it with the king. Nakamura took the queen, and the match was over.
Carlsen angrily hit the desk. That was it for him.

Nakamura seizes the chance to insult the Botez sisters
How does Nakamura see it? In an analysis of the match on YouTube, Nakamura comments on the move and first uses the world champion’s mistake to take a jab at his rivals on Twitch, the Botez sisters.
He refers to Carlsen’s mistake as the “classic Botez mistake.”
However, Nakamura believes that even without the mistake, the game would have resulted in a draw, and he would have entered the final anyway.

What made the match so special? Carlsen and Nakamura are considered the best online chess players in the world.
For Carlsen, according to the website Kotaku, it was his last event as world champion. He announced in July 2022 that he would not retire but would relinquish the title because he no longer wants to defend it. Defending the title has been associated with more negative than positive experiences, even when he wins.
But Carlsen surely imagined his exit as world champion differently than to go down so foolishly with a mouse slip.
If you care about cable management, then do it like I did and get a USB hub with a power supply. I will show you the advantages here.
What is it about? As a PC gamer, you are constantly faced with connecting things via USB to the computer. Controllers, external hard drives, USB sticks, the phone, power banks, and much more. It becomes problematic when the computer is already filled with a keyboard, mouse, webcam, and other everyday items.
For me, a USB hub was the optimal solution. With an external power supply, there is enough power available, and you can place the slots anywhere under or on your desk as you like. And such a device costs you only about 30 €.
The article originally appeared in December 2021 and was updated for you in April 2023.
No more USB frustration – My HUB regulates it now
This was my problem: The USB ports on my PC are already well utilized with:
Mouse
Keyboard
Webcam
Audio interface
Wireless stick for Xbox controller
Small desk lamp
On the front of the PC, there is still an additional USB 3.1 slot and a USB 3.0 slot. So if I want to connect two things with a large USB connection, one has to go to the back of the PC. That annoyed me and led to cables lying where they shouldn’t.
To me, a certain degree of cable management is very important. If I see too many loose cables, it just looks messy. It’s enough if one cable is hanging at the front of the PC.
This is how I solved it: The solution was quite simple and had been on my mind for months. A USB hub. That way, I know I will always have enough connections available when I want to spontaneously connect one or more devices.
These can be flashlights or dog LED collars to charge, additional controllers or steering wheels, my camera, my phone, a fan in summer, a string of lights, or external hard drives. There are many devices, and USB ports are now plentiful for me as well.
Especially the devices that only need a USB connection for charging are satisfied with such a USB hub. I have only had problems with my wireless stick for the controller, which had dropouts on the USB hub.
Which USB hub did I buy? I opted for a device with 7x USB 3.0.
It was important to me that it comes with a power supply. I often experienced in the past that there was not enough power available for the USB slots – those issues are now a thing of the past. I decided on a device on Amazon that costs just under 30 €.
Oops, unfortunately this affiliate widget is no longer available.
The advantage of this device: Each slot can be turned on and off individually. So you don’t have to constantly pull out the plugs and lay them over the edge of the table, but can just press a button.
This hub can be easily hidden: I mounted the splitter on the underside of the tabletop of my height-adjustable desk. One strip of double-sided tape underneath, press for a few seconds, and it holds in place.
I’m satisfied with the result, as from the regular angle at which I look at my desk, I don’t see the hub or the cables. Just see for yourself:
My conclusion on the USB hub
I can recommend it to anyone working with a desktop PC or laptop to get one of these. It’s worth it if you often want to connect devices via USB to the computer. Furthermore, there are more and more gadgets whose batteries can be charged with a USB connection.
For me, such a splitter is among those things that are inexpensive but have a great utility. I can now turn off USB devices that remain “on” even after the computer is shut down at the push of a button, without having to unplug them.
Additionally, I have the USB splitter close to the tabletop. This way, I can connect my phone to the computer with a short charging cable and raise the PC to standing height. Previously, the cable to the computer was too short, and I had to leave my phone on the case while standing at the desk.
For me, the purchase paid off immediately after connecting, as I also visually benefit from being able to practically hide the many cables under the desk.

On December 20, 2011, Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWOTR), the MMORPG in the Star Wars universe, went online. The developers from BioWare achieved a hit that remains successful many years later.
Although the MMORPG for the popular Star Wars franchise has aged, it is still loved by many MMORPG fans to this day.
The player numbers on Steam show a solid player base. A strong outlier is the Steam release in 2020, which momentarily brought SWOTR over 30,000 players. Afterwards, it settled at around 7,000 to 8,000 active players (via SteamDB). Since the MMORPG can also be launched via the EA client, the actual number is likely higher.
Join the Galactic Republic or the Sith Empire
What kind of game is this? SWOTR is an MMORPG set in the world-famous Star Wars setting. Right at the beginning, you have to make a decision: Will you join the Galactic Republic or the Sith Empire?
After that, you choose from 8 classes, 4 of which belong to the Republic and 4 to the Empire. There are also different races, although most of them are only included in the paid subscription.
SWOTR clearly focuses on the story. In addition, it also offers PvE content such as dungeons, referred to here as flashpoints, as well as various PvP modes. Particularly exciting is the space PvP, where you engage in battles with spaceships.
While the game relies on classic tab-targeting, it tries to implement this in a more modern and dynamic way. Nevertheless, the battles seem rather static and outdated from today’s perspective.
The graphics and animations also show that the MMORPG has been around for over 10 years.
In the video, you can see the cinematic trailer for SWOTR:
Start video
Star Wars: The Old Republic – Cinematic Trailer
What does SWOTR cost? At release, it was a paid game, but the developers have since switched to free-to-play and offer an optional subscription for $12.99/month that provides players with advantages. You can play through all expansions, receive coins for the real-money shop, and participate in game content as often as you like.
Thus, the MMORPG is fundamentally free, but comes with restrictions.
Especially praised for storyline and voice acting
Players love the MMORPG particularly for its story. The story takes place 3,000 years before the films and allows you to experience your personal saga. You choose one of 8 stories and can make decisions within that influence its course.
The answer options that the story offers you are sometimes rather inconsequential, but at certain points, you decide on very important matters – for example, from the beginning, the fate of 3 prisoners lies in your hands.
Additionally, players can choose to collect points for either the light or dark side of the Force through their actions, which in turn affects gameplay.
According to YouTuber Entenburg, the story is very captivating: “In fact, I didn’t skip a single text during my entire playtime in SWOTR, which is a moderate miracle for an MMORPG.”
lukawa: “I’ve been playing this game since I was 12, now I’m 17. There may be better games, but SWTOR is the only one I still go back to after years.”
Waffelmann: “It’s still fun even after so many years.”
Sycees: “Good MMORPG with tab-targeting. Especially fans of engaging stories will love SWOTR.”
Jingo: “I’ve been playing it for years, it’s very diverse and offers a lot to discover. I won’t mince words: 10/10, may the Force be with you.”
Vollerempfang: “Overall, with or without friends, a really great game at an affordable price, with a friendly community that treats beginners with respect.”
Zatec: “Very good MMO, especially the story missions are excellent. A must for Star Wars fans.”
Is SWOTR worth it in 2023? For fans of the franchise, the MMORPG is still worth it today, as it offers unique content in the Star Wars universe. While it may take a while to catch up with other players, the story provides an exciting leveling process.
If, however, you place great value on modern graphics and an exciting combat system, or have no interest in the story at all, you should probably steer clear of SWOTR.

The Epic Games Store is known for regularly giving away games that players can grab and keep forever. Now for Easter, they have a special treat on offer with Dying Light, but we in Germany are left empty-handed.
This is the promotion:
It is currently in gaming news worldwide that Epic Games is giving away the zombie hit Dying Light for Easter.
The zombie parkour game was released in 2015 and received decent but not outstanding reviews at launch. However, it has been improved with updates and new content over the past 7 years, so it currently holds an extremely strong rating on Steam. With 276,000 reviews, it is rated “overwhelmingly positive” – it doesn’t get better than this. Currently, it still has about 6,000 average players on Steam.
The Epic Games Store is giving away the “Enhanced Edition” from May 2022 for one week from April 6 to April 13, 2023.

Jaden Ashman participated in the Fortnite World Cup 2019 and achieved 2nd place. He won a prize of over one million euros and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the “youngest e-sports millionaire from a single tournament.”
E-sports tournaments sometimes offer massive sums as prize money and have the potential to turn the winner’s life upside down. This happened a few years ago to a 15-year-old who suddenly became a millionaire.
Who is the young e-sports millionaire? The e-sports millionaire is the Brit Jaden Ashman. He is also known in the gaming community as “Wolfiez.”
This article originally appeared in July 2022 and was updated for you in April 2023.
What world record does Jaden Ashman hold? At the time he won the million, Jaden was 15 years and 229 days old. This earned him the title “Youngest esports millionaire from a single tournament” in the Guinness Book of Records.
How did the boy come to the millions? Jaden participated in the Fortnite World Cup 2019 and together with his teammate Dave “Rojo” Jong, he achieved second place in the final. The prize money for both was a total of 2.25 million dollars (about 2.21 million euros).

How did Jaden Ashman come to Fortnite? JadenAshman had been playing Fortnite since its release and spent up to 8 hours a day in his room training.
Initially, his mother was against him playing Fortnite. Jaden said: “My mom and I clashed often, but in the end, we made it work. I never did my homework on time. Sometimes I got a little obsessive with my games, but we started setting boundaries.” (via guinnessworldrecords.com).
How did Jaden Ashman come to the Fortnite World Cup? Besides Ashman, around 40 million players tried to qualify for the Fortnite World Cup. For 10 weeks, they competed online for a spot.
Indeed, Jaden was one of the candidates who were invited to the first Fortnite World Cup 2019. It took place from July 26 to 29 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York City.
The event itself is also a record holder: it offered the largest prize pool in e-sports tournaments in the solo player category with 3 million dollars (about 2.9 million euros).
At this event, Jaden won approximately 2.21 million euros as the second-place winner, which he shared with his teammate.
What did Jaden do with the money? About half of the money the boy wanted to save. He also promised his mother to buy her a house and a car and kept his word.
He said in a BBC interview: “It feels really good to be able to buy the house and keep my word to my mom.” (via YouTube).
Is Jaden still active in e-sports? Since May 1, 2020, Jaden Ashman has played Fortnite as an e-sports athlete for Excel Esports. On January 18, 2023, Wolfiez announced on Twitter that he joined the e-sports organization TT9.

The largest and most successful MMORPGs are theme park games. They rely on story content, exploration of areas, dungeons, raids, and instanced PvP. But they all share a problem: the content runs out faster than developers can deliver it. To trigger another big hype, new MMORPGs need the help of players, says MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch.
WoW generated a hype around MMORPGs after its release in 2004/2005. This was also due to the fact that WoW broke with some traditions of the genre and thus revolutionized MMORPGs:
The entry into the game was as easy as in no other MMORPG before.
Death was not harshly punished, for example, by losing equipment or experience, as was common in old games.
There was competition between Alliance and Horde, but PvP in the open world was not a must, because there were extra PvE servers.
Of course, the background story of Warcraft, Blizzard’s budget, and the comparatively good graphics at the time played a role. But WoW stamped the genre with such an impressive mark that many more games followed, later called “WoW clones“.
The article was originally published in July 2022 and was updated in April 2023.
However, since then there have been no major changes in MMORPGs. Even today, new games either orient themselves towards WoW’s successful formula or try to bring the “old school” feeling of old titles like Ultima Online or Dark Age of Camelot into a modern MMORPG.
But to truly be a huge success, there needs to be (a small) revolution again. And I see that in the collaboration between players and developers.
By the way, copying WoW was not enough to be successful, as these examples show:
Start video
5 MMORPGs that Should Have Been WoW Killers But Failed
I see the solution in editors and programs that are easy to use and in which players can create their own content:
They can create dungeons and raids and make these experiences so challenging that other players struggle with them for weeks or months.
They could build their own areas – with quest lines, world bosses, and other challenges.
Even their own PvP arenas or complete PvP modes would be possible.
Of course, some balance must be struck here. Areas and quest lines should, for fairness, be taken over and officially implemented by the developers. Otherwise, exploits or game-breaking bugs could be possible.
But especially with own dungeons, raids, and PvP modes, I see huge potential. Since these take place in instances, they do not have a direct impact on the game world.
Theoretically, it would even be possible to completely forgo loot and rewards, as I believe players often are satisfied just experiencing this content, achieving world firsts, or hosting events that they experience as a guild or stream on Twitch.
WildStar had cool raid bosses that I would like to experience again today.
The fact that the development of content by players is a great enrichment is evident in many games:
Skyrim is still a popular game, partly because the modding community continually provides new content worthy of an addon.
Pure sandbox games like Minecraft thrive on crazy servers or communities.
In Super Mario Maker, people create the toughest levels ever, and players enjoy mastering such challenges.
Who is actually speaking here? Alexander Leitsch is the MMORPG expert at MeinMMO and grew up with Guild Wars 1. He has spent over 10,000 hours playing it. Since 2009, however, he has been around in almost every new MMORPG. He currently spends most of his time in New World, but also enjoys testing indie titles like Broken Ranks.
No revolution on the horizon, also because EverQuest Next failed
When I look at the MMORPGs that will be released in the coming years, I am actually not very pessimistic.Ashes of Creation will surely generate a hype and relies to a certain extent on sandbox elements, such as conquering, leveling, and expanding cities. Players thus create new content themselves.
But at its core, Ashes of Creation is a PvP MMORPG, and even though I will have a lot of fun with it, I know that the large majority favors theme park and even single-player elements. This audience probably will not be retained long by Ashes of Creation, as it focuses too much on social communities.
In Ashes of Creation, you should be able to expand small settlements into huge cities.
Also, aside from these big titles, I see no MMORPG that relies so heavily on player-generated content as would be necessary for a great revolution in the genre. Only in the past was there once a game that sounded exactly like what I would wish for EverQuest Next. But unfortunately, the game failed, just like two other titles that also wanted to revolutionize the genre:
What do you think about the future of MMORPGs? Does it need player-generated content? What would be a big innovation that would immediately captivate you?
The Twitch streamer Asmongold has his own vision of MMORPGs in the future. His revolution is based on different technology:
Giving up in League of Legends will become easier in the future. Many players fear that their teammates may give up too early. However, the developers are confident that this is the right step.
Why give up a round of LoL? A match of League of Legends can quickly go wrong. Especially in the early phase, mistakes are frustrating. A few wrong clicks can ensure that the opposing heroes quickly gain a level and item advantage.
There are also situations where the other team is simply much better, or where one has no chance after the champion selection.
A new round can quickly turn into frustration. Especially when it becomes clear early on that your team cannot recover from the deficit. Not everyone can pull off a crazy comeback like Tylor1. That’s why there is an option to vote for a surrender.
In LoL, “Surrender at 20” is already a meme
How can one even give up? For a long time, one could give up from minute 20 on, the phrase “Surrender at 20” – meaning to give up at the earliest possible moment – became a meme, after which even websites have been named.
Currently, you can start a vote to surrender after 15 minutes of playtime using the chat commands /ff, /surrender, /forfeit, or /concede. After the appropriate input, your teammates will see a pop-up window. They then have 60 seconds to vote on whether they want to accept a loss.
Previously, it was required that your team unanimously decides to surrender until the 25-minute mark. Even if just one player voted against it, the game continued.
After that, you had to convince at least 70 percent of your team to give up. That sounds fair at first, but the developers now want to change something about this system.
LoL is now even available on Netflix. Check out the trailer for Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story here:

Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story – Official Launch Trailer
The developers’ decision aims to improve the player experience
What do the developers want to change? With patch 13.7, the rules for surrendering will be simplified. In the future, it will no longer matter in which minute you start a vote to give up the game. It will be sufficient if 4 players believe that the match cannot be won anymore.
We have been testing shorter timers for surrendering in normal games for several patches now and their effects meet our expectations: A few more games end in a surrender, thus the average game time has decreased somewhat. In our opinion, this change gives teams more decision-making power over which games they want to fight.
A single player will no longer be able to force the entire lobby to keep playing. Players can exit frustrating matches earlier, which is supposed to improve the experience for all players.
The patch notes indicate that the changes are meant for both solo and flex ranked queues.
In solo and flex ranked queues, a normal surrender (4 out of 5 OR 70% of the team members must agree for the vote to succeed) is possible after 20 minutes ⇒ 15 minutes. The condition of unanimity for an early surrender has been removed. This change will be released on April 7 at around 21:00 CEST.
If 4 people vote to surrender, a game is lost 97% of the time anyway
How did the decision come about? Matt Leung-Harrison, lead designer of the balance team for League of Legends, commented on the matter on Twitter. He provides important insights into the developers’ decision-making process.
Internal data showed that 97 percent of all games in ranked mode end in a loss when a vote to surrender initially failed. The chance of a late comeback after falling behind early is too low.
It is better for all players to end a poor gaming experience early and then start a new game. With the planned changes, they want to honor the players’ time.
Now your opinion is needed! What do you think of the developers’ decision? Is it sensible that games can be given up more easily in the future? Or do you prefer to fight until the bitter end for victory? Leave us a comment and discuss with the community.
