Better haptics than the “normal” Xbox controller
What do I like about the controller? At home, I use both the official Xbox controller and the Wolverine V2. The layout is absolutely identical; both are asymmetrical. The biggest plus point, in my opinion, goes to the Wolverine V2 for its significantly better haptics compared to the official product. The grips are rubberized, while the Microsoft controller is very smooth.
The haptics of the buttons, that “clicky” feeling, is another plus point. It makes me feel much more precise than with other controllers. The mechanical tactile buttons and the D-pad feel great.
The build quality is also good: over the last 3 years, the controller has not let me down and is used multiple times every week, either by me or by my partner, during gaming.
What problems are there? There are disadvantages as well: The cable is not detachable; however, I haven’t had a cable break in the last 3 years. Nevertheless, it would be easier to store if the cable could be removed.

Blizzard has released a new trailer for the release of Diablo 4. It tells the story of the new hack-and-slash. However, some scenes leave fans puzzled, as they often only last a few seconds.

The controversial anti-cheat tool Vanguard has now struck a streamer while playing Valorant. He was in a Swiftplay match with other players when he got banned. The curious thing: The ban happened right in the headquarters of developer Riot.
After the affected JimmyJamTV managed to get his first kill in a Swiftplay match in Valorant, an error message suddenly appeared on his screen. The player was banned in Valorant after spending only ten minutes in the game.
His teammates were at the same table and suddenly received a flashing red warning that a cheater had been detected in their match. Therefore, the match had to be immediately cancelled.
What did he do? The streamer is not aware of any wrongdoing. He does not understand why he was banned and how such a thing could even happen.
The video recorded by one of the teammates unfortunately only shows the situation after the ban. It is therefore not directly apparent whether the streamer really dared to cheat in the offices of Riot:

Last week, Patch 13.10 was released in League of Legends with many item adjustments and 4 new items. Statikk’s Shiv also returned to the Rift after over 2 years and causes a bug with an interaction involving its own minions.
What happened? The user refuzeiv posted a video on Reddit, showing how he kills his own minions with the passive ability of the returning item Statikk Shiv. He does not gain gold or experience from this.
Killing your own minions is not actually possible in LoL and could specifically be a serious error, as it could deny the opponent farm and experience.
The bug requires a specific interaction
How can the bug happen? Riot employee Phreak suspects a connection between the ultimate of supporter Renata Glasc and the passive ability Electroshock of Statikk’s Shiv. When targeted by Renata’s ultimate, you fight against your own teammates for a short time and can also deal damage to them.
If you then do not trigger Statikk’s Shiv with an auto-attack, abilities can cause the effect on allied units. But only abilities that interact with your own minions and can trigger on-hit effects.

However, Bungie did not only showcase the new setting with the leak for Season 21. Those who looked closely could discover even more details. With the first key art leak for the “Season of Depth” Bungie has now not only hinted at much depth. It also made clear that another story conclusion seems to be imminent.

It’s back to Titan
Solid ground? Not on Titan – everything here sways in the methane sea.
As before, Bungie seems to be planning the return of an old destination in Season 21. How this will unfold, of course, is still unknown. But it could be similar to the EDC in Season 17.
Back then, the developer brought back a small part of Calus’ former ship, where the seasonal activity “Nightmare Containment” took place for 3 months.
This could be similar for Titan. The difference, however, is that there is no landmass on Titan. Vertiginously high platforms have always been a highlight of this destination.
A rich underwater world unfolds for the Guardians in Season 21 on Titan
However, it is also conceivable that it could go in exactly the other direction, as the name “Season of Depth” suggests. It is quite possible that the buildings on Titan have sunk, and therefore the Guardians are supposed to dive.
Also, the Neomuna lore in Lightfall already hinted at a return to Titan. The lore states that there is an “enemy of the witness” on Titan. And given that the Vanguard currently has few options against the Darkness, the deceased Traveler, or the overpowered Witness, every enemy of the witness is someone who should befriend.
Sloane is visibly changed
Deputy Commander Sloane is suspiciously steaming in Season 21 after corruption.
Destiny 2 veterans will surely recognize her immediately. Although she is only seen from behind, on the season cover image it states the “missing in action” Deputy Commander Sloane.
Sloane was once stationed for the Vanguard on Saturn’s largest moon Titan. But after the Darkness’s attack, no one had heard from or seen her again. Until now.
Those who look closely will see that Sloane does not seem to be quite herself anymore.
Instead of rolled-up sleeves, her arms seem possessed and even suspiciously steaming.
It is quite possible that the Guardians will primarily fight against the race of the possessed in the “Season of Depth”. What role Sloane plays in this, whether she is to be rescued, and if she is still on the side of the Guardians will need to be discovered.
But one thing is certain: there have probably only been two beings in Destiny 2 that had the power to corrupt. The King of the Possessed Oryx and presumably the Witness as well.
If Sloane is now possessed, it means that not only other races but also Guardians can be corrupted. The only other solution: Sloane’s ghost died when she sank with Titan.
A big eye is closely watching Season 21

For a long time, the creatures in Destiny 2 have been an exciting topic for the Guardians. Especially the sea monster of Titan was popular, as one could regularly watch it during its dives in the “methane sea”, which has 40-meter-high waves.
In the mission to Cayde’s Testament and his hideouts, Guardians were once allowed to encounter an impressive creature. However, back then it was never clarified what exactly it was and why it was there.
Players suspect it might be the so-called “Leviathan”. It is a giant serpentine entity. Records of its existence date back to the Golden Age when its presence was registered on underground scanning devices. It can be seen through the windows around the CPU core of the New Pacific Arkology.
During the Season of Arrivals, the Drifter refers to “the long boy in the soup” when he talks to Eris Morn, probably also referring to the sea serpent on Titan. It is questionable whether he wants to meet or eat it.
However, after Titan was swallowed by the Darkness, “Destinessie,” the sea monster, also disappeared. Season 21 therefore offers hope that we will learn more about Space-Nessi or at least what being has cast its truly huge eye on the Guardians.
Does Season 21 still have a Screamer up its sleeve?

Is Bungie planning the resurrection of the Witch Queen? Since Bungie is likely planning a return to Titan in Season 21, the Titan strike “Savathûn’s Song” may also play a role again.

Many Guardians believe in a return: For a long time, some Guardians have believed that Savathûn’s end was not final. The Witch Queen has been far too cunning with her plan for many years. Therefore, it is suspected that it is unlikely that she left any events in this game to chance.
Some players in the Destiny community even believe that the Vanguard will reach the point where they find out that without Savathûn, they can never stand against the Witness.
Now, with her greatest “influencer”, the Screamer from Titan with her song, probably returning in Season 21, this could be the perfect beginning of this realization. Furthermore, one should also not forget that Savathûn’s Song makes everyone susceptible to her influences, making them act as she wishes.

The Season of Depth lives up to its name

Depth Gaze weapon activation: Starting from Season 21, players will have the option to activate Depth Gaze manually for weapons. There will be a currency for this, only available in limited quantities in the battle pass, 6 per season, 3 for free. Raid weapons will also be considered here.
Better chances at raid Exotics: 150 raids and more and still no Exotic? Bungie wants to improve that. Starting from Season 21, completed challenges will give you a higher chance of exotic raid drops.
Inventory update: The two materials “Finest Material Weave” and “Rainmaker” will be removed in Season 21. Players can still use up old stocks, however.
Trials of Osiris: Starting from Season 21, it will be harder to gild the title “Flawless”. New cosmetic rewards will be available, and “The Messenger” returns with new perks to the weapon pool of the Trials, and there will be an Arkus glaive coming. Dominance will be the only mode in Trials, and there will be a special emblem to remain flawless.
Ritual weapon: There will also be a new ritual weapon in Season 21. This time it is an aggressive kinetic scout rifle of the type “Tex Mechanica” called “Last Rites”.
No seasonal vendor upgrades anymore: There will also probably not be a seasonal vendor upgrade in Season 21, as Destiny Bulletin announced. There is some rumor about fishing.

A bug and a new mode: Especially solo players have rarely been able to shine in Trials. Bungie has now confirmed that there was actually an issue with the lobby balancer, which caused solo players with high skills often felt that matches were unfairly stacked against them.
For Season 21, a solution has now been implemented that overrides the skills of all in the challenger pool with the same value, making lobby balancing effectively random for all those aiming for perfection.
Because with this, the player search based on the pass will be abolished, you also won’t have to reset your card if you want to help a friend reach the lighthouse after you have already been there. The number of wins on the card no longer affects the difficulty of the matches.
Trials with new main game mode “Territory”
Trials will be different starting in Season 21
Team-oriented mode and a title that is harder to gild: In Season 21, the mode “Territory” will be activated as the main game mode for Trials. This change will make carrying teammates to the lighthouse more difficult, as it places a high value on solid teamwork.
The mode “Territory” allows players to capture zones like in “Control” to earn points.
Furthermore, starting from Season 21, you will have to prove yourself much more if you want to gild the title “Flawless”. This is intended to bring a certain level of core competency to the game that should show that the player concerned has earned the “Flawless Gilding” title the hard way.
For that, there is a new emblem that is obtained when opening the flawless chest at the lighthouse, provided you didn’t take a setback in any of the victories required for that. This means you have to achieve the “Flight of the Dove” medal for each victory. That should be quite a challenge.
When does new Season 21 start? Today evening, May 23, starting at 7 PM, there will be a new seasonal story and further details about the Lightfall DLC will be revealed. Then the free quest with Osiris will likely also be available.
And with Titan, Season 21 seems to be addressing the last missing destination and NPC. The Guardians are especially curious whether Bungie will indeed allow them to dive. They dream of a new dungeon that is entirely underwater where they can dive with enthusiasm for a while.

Campers in Dead by Daylight ruin the fun for many players. After years, the developers have realized this as well – and are now introducing major improvements.
In the horror game Dead by Daylight, four survivors try to escape from a killer who wants to kill all the survivors. However, that does not always mean fun for both sides. Anyone who wants to experience racing games or driving simulations on a PC can either play with a mouse and keyboard, gamepad, or steering wheel. I played for years only with a mouse and keyboard and was always happy with it.
Now, the manufacturer Thrustmaster offered me the opportunity to test their new T818 Base. For the test, I swapped my mouse and keyboard for a steering wheel and pedals. You can read my experiences with the device and whether the investment is worth it in this article.

What’s all included? The T818 comes with a basic set of accessories. In the box, besides the base, are:

I definitely need the power supply and USB cable to power the device and connect it to my PC in the next step. The adapter is only needed if you want to use an old steering wheel with the base.
On the side of the model, there is a control panel with 4 buttons: Two action buttons (with arrows), another button to change the pedal mode (Loadcell / no Loadcell), and a fourth button to change the steering angle. For this, a Thrustmaster steering wheel is required. The buttons are easily accessible when the device is directly in front of you.
Otherwise, there is a built-in LED ring on the front, which remains without function.
Mounting materials, such as clamps or a plate, are not included in the scope of delivery and must be purchased separately.
What technology is being used? The Thrustmaster T818 utilizes “Direct Drive”. In addition, there are two other systems with gear and belt drives. “Direct Drive” is said to be the most realistic and accurate technology and can generate particularly strong force feedback effects. However, this also affects the price, as the other systems are significantly cheaper.

How does the setup work? A printed manual is not included with the T818; instead, there are a few short instructions on the box of the T818. And that is somewhat insufficient when you don’t set up such a system every day. The official support website of Thrustmaster is anything but clear and doesn’t explain what I really need from it and whether any of the many PDF files can really help me.
Initially, the steering wheel did not want to start. This was because the knob for attaching the steering wheel was not properly secured. However, the manufacturer also provides no hints on what to pay attention to during assembly. The rest is then very easy: plug the power cable into the back and connect the USB-C cable to the PC. The pedals are only plugged in at the back and work right away.
Here I encountered the next problem: The T818 does not want to start when I connect the device via a USB hub. When I connected it directly to a port on the computer, it started without any issues. Overall, I had expected the setup to be somewhat simpler.

Processing
The T818 is robust and quite heavy. After all, the base weighs around 5 kg and does not fit on every table. The direct competitor, the Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel, also weighs 5 kg.
Additionally, the housing of the T818 Base consists mainly of a lot of plastic and several aluminum plates. This gives the device a high-quality impression. The hinges for attaching the steering wheel are also made of metal; the adapter for the steering wheel is made of plastic only.
Fingerprints are quickly visible on plastic and metal. However, this is hardly noticeable on the back since you only see the device from the front when playing, and your gaze is mostly directed at the monitor.

First Impressions with the Thrustmaster T818
What did I play? My first sessions were played in the arcade racer “Need for Speed: Heat.” Here I can take a few rounds against the AI without consequences. The game warns that the T818 is not supported, but the steering wheel can be operated without any issues. Only the buttons cannot be remapped.
I then had more sessions with Euro Truck Simulator 2. Here, the simulation is more at the forefront than action-packed racing.

Positive Experiences with the Thrustmaster T818
The first experiences were quite chaotic, as I have previously played racing games exclusively with a mouse and keyboard. In the first few minutes, I felt like I hit every bush and every guardrail and was startled every time the steering wheel vibrated or resisted under my hands when I went off the road and drove cross-country instead of on the asphalt.
This is where the integrated force feedback shows its full strength, and I actually liked it after the initial shock moments. Rarely has a roadside ditch felt so realistic.
However, it also shows that this device is not just a toy: If you let go of the steering wheel out of sheer fright, it quickly spins around and can hit your hands and fingers if you’re not careful. Therefore, this definitely does not belong in the hands of children.
Another experience is that the steering wheel requires a lot of arm and hand work, as I am constantly turning and cranking. With pure keyboard control, both hands are relatively calm on the arrow keys and a few special keys. This was very tiring at first, but it makes the racing game much more immersive. After my first two races, I was drenched in sweat.
I also notice that I am much more precise with the steering wheel and pedals than with the keyboard. For example, in Euro Truck Simulator 2, I am more accurate when parking the cargo than when I have to nudge the thing into the parking space with the keyboard. With the pedals, the acceleration can also be dosed much finer than when I’m hammering on the arrow keys.
Moreover, the force feedback plays a subordinate role in a simulation since I don’t maneuver a heavy truck as quickly through oncoming traffic as I would with a speedy racing car.
The T818 Base is not recognized in NfS: Heat but still works flawlessly.
Negative Experiences with the Thrustmaster T818
If I want to use the steering wheel, I feel like I have to rearrange half my desk. The system requires a lot of space. Additionally, the tabletop cannot be too thick for the mounting device. Therefore, I had to remove my glass panel and mousepad from the table every time to securely mount the steering wheel. Without mounting, the steering wheel is very unstable and tips over during movements or when “force feedback” is activated.
Furthermore, the software used with the Thrustmaster T818 is anything but intuitive. The software interface feels outdated and unworthy for a €650 model. At least there is a chance that Thrustmaster will improve the software in the long run.
Initially, the device also didn’t want to work. This was because the steering wheel simply wouldn’t start when I tried to connect it through my USB hub. It worked perfectly when I connected it directly to a USB port on the computer.

Conclusion: Good device with startup difficulties, but not suitable for my daily life
Would I buy such a device privately? Probably not, and it’s not even because of the price of €649. I am convinced by the processing, and the small technical problems resolved themselves.
Rather, it’s a big effort that stands against the fun: I would have to rearrange my desk every day for a session to use the equipment.
Although it goes very quickly after the third time, it is still cumbersome and costs me 10 minutes each time. That is too much for a few evening rounds in Need for Speed or other arcade titles. Everything feels more precise and accurate (especially in a simulator like Euro Truck Simulator 2), but I’ll stick with the mouse and keyboard and forego the immersion.

Can I recommend the device? If you are looking for a well-engineered model and want to play racing or simulator games in the long term, I can recommend the Thrustmaster T818 to you.
And you should have a passion for racing games because the €649.99 for the base excludes the costs for the steering wheel and pedals. So, if you don’t yet have a racing set and need to buy everything new, you’ll easily pay more than €1,000.
