In The Division 2 is finally continuing with Year 5 after a long delay. Season 2 has started and brings the update ‘Puppet Master’. In addition to the familiar Manhunt, an old but also popular activity is back: The Incursion. It puts the players’ skills and teamwork to the test and is currently not achievable solo.
What is happening right now in Ubisoft’s cover shooter? In Division 2, Season 2 of Year 5 has launched.

The Division 2 brings Incursions back and sends you to the “Lost Paradise”
What exactly is an Incursion? An Incursion is a game mode in The Division 2 where you have to tackle various encounters in a mission.
This type of incursions already existed in the first part of The Division. However, in 2023, the missions were refreshed and slightly changed. New mechanics can also be found in them.
The first Incursion in Year 5 Season 2 is called ‘Lost Paradise’.
Players travel to the decadent Meret estate, which has been attacked by enhanced Cleaners who cover everything with nasty Greek fire.
Players must go through a total of 4 sections and complete various mechanics along the way.
How tough is it? Damn tough. Basically, one can absolutely call the mode a mini-raid or high-risk endgame operation for good three or four-player teams that demands everything from you and your builds. The mechanics sometimes do not allow players to complete them solo.

Incursion drops a unique weapon
Players can earn this MG in Season 2 of Year 5 through the season pass.
What can you expect as a reward in the Incursion? Every week, when you have completed the new Incursion ‘Lost Paradise’, you will receive an exotic item as a reward. This also includes a 10% drop chance for the unique exotic SMG ‘Ouroboros’, which can currently only be obtained from the Incursion.

The Elder Scrolls Online receives Update 40 with the new dungeon Endless Archive. As the name suggests, it has no end and lets you face enemies in increasingly difficult levels. MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch tried it out with developer Mike Finnigan on the test server and is thrilled.
You can visit the Endless Archive either completely alone or together with a teammate or companion. There are different leaderboards for both modes, but the difficulty level remains the same. So going in pairs makes it easier.
The setup is initially a bit confusing, but you’ll get used to it fairly quickly:
First, you face opponents you already know from the game world in three rounds. After each round, you learn a verse that gives you a bonus only for the next round.
After three rounds of enemies, there comes a boss round. Here, too, you encounter a familiar foe.
These four fights are referred to as a cycle. After each cycle, you receive a vision. This gives you a buff for the entire dungeon run.
If you survive four cycles, you meet the new boss for the first time. This boss is initially quite easy but becomes harder with each higher level and learns new abilities.
Once you defeat the boss, a new “arc” begins. You go through the same procedure, but at a higher difficulty.
The endless dungeon run is spiced up by spontaneous events and additional “portals into the unknown”. There, bosses await, as well as NPCs who give you an additional quest. For example, you have to collect bundles that are hidden somewhere in the rounds.
Additionally, there is the constant danger of being thrown out of the dungeon if you die more than three times. In a group, however, that means the whole group must wipe. A single death does not count towards the statistics.
But is it really fun, and is it suitable for every type of player?
Who’s talking here? Alex is the MMORPG expert at MeinMMO and has already spent hundreds of hours in ESO. There, he is primarily involved in story content and dungeons. He hasn’t attempted the trials for 12 players yet. He is all the more excited about the endless archive. Accessibility and strong rewards attract everyone
The answers are: Yes and yes. Because the first rounds and bosses are achievable for everyone. I was even a bit disappointed by the initial battles because Mike and I cruised through the enemies far too easily – and this was with a build that was only quickly adjusted.
We had enough time to discuss a few things about the dungeon or even ESO itself. It’s a cool activity if you want to do something with your best buddy or listen to a podcast on the side.

ESO Endless Archive – PlayStation Trailer
Even for the initial levels and runs, you receive the new currency Archive Prophecies. With these, you can purchase useful rewards including gold, furnishing items, temporary and permanent buffs for the next dungeon runs, and a completely new set for each class.
Additionally, there are various achievements that bring you, among other things, a brand new mount.
The rewards are very well done and invite you to visit the Endless Archive repeatedly – whether you are a beginner, veteran, or hardcore player. Especially the latter can look forward to the high difficulty levels.
The difficulty is somewhat random
However, the Endless Archive will not be a walk in the park. I was unexpectedly faced with this during the third boss. Because while we could chat casually before, we encountered Yolnahkriin, a giant dragon, there. And he is quite the challenge.
He can throw enemies off the platform with his wing flap and also burn them with a large AoE field in seconds. During our first attempt, we were a bit unfocused and Mike and I immediately felt the wing.
In attempt number 2, the AoE field caught us, and in the third attempt, we failed again after the flying phase due to the AoE.
This dragon was our end.
Although our joint run was over, I went back in and managed to reach the new boss.
In this one, you have to dodge large crystal fields, block a strong attack, and be careful when the mirror is set up. Because everything you shoot into these comes back at the end as a concentrated damage. That can lead to your death if you don’t dodge.
And there are also adds and a giant laser beam!
However, during my second run, I had it much easier, even though I replaced one player – in this case, even a developer – with a companion. The reason for this was the different boss fights. Here, the randomness plays a role determining whether a dragon can throw you off the platform or you are only fighting against a necromantic wizard.
This is also one of my minor criticisms of the Endless Archive. Not every run is the same. Sometimes it’s too easy, and sometimes it suddenly becomes significantly harder. That can be frustrating.
Additionally, I find the phases without boss fights a bit too long. For me, two enemy rounds before each boss would have been sufficient. This can lead to a bit of boredom in between.
Overall, the Endless Archive is an absolute enrichment for ESO. Casual players have a new daily task. They can play through to the end of the first arc and earn good rewards for it.
Veterans can level indefinitely and thus place themselves on the leaderboards. However, these do not value the time but the highest level you have achieved.
Moreover, you don’t have to venture out alone, but can complete the dungeon together with a friend or partner. This greatly strengthens the feeling of belonging.
And the coolest part is that you don’t need any expansions, no DLC, and no subscription. Anyone who wants to dive into the Endless Archive can do that right with the release on October 30 on PC or November 14 on PlayStation and Xbox.

The stealth adventure The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is considered one of the worst games of 2023. The game flopped so badly that there will be no more games from the popular Hamburg studio Daedalic Entertainment. A report shows what went wrong behind the scenes of the game development studio and why Gollum was doomed to fail.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was supposed to be something very special: an AAA game from Germany, which the Hamburg studio Daedalic was to make internationally known with the strong “The Lord of the Rings” license behind it.
When the action game was finally released in May 2023 after several delays, it quickly became a contender for the worst game of the year. Gollum failed in the international reviews and our GameStar colleague Sascha Penzhorn also struggled in his test (paid PLUS article) to say anything positive about the “license lemon.”

Crunch and starvation wages at the supposedly family-friendly indie studio
What went wrong? To answer this question, the report traces the history of Daedalic Entertainment.
After establishing a name for itself with humorous point-and-click adventures like the Edna and Deponia games, the Hamburg studio tried to gain a foothold in other genres.
In games like Silence and A Year of Rain, the development that the studio made was already evident: ambitious projects for which there was a lack of experience and possibly also budget, which ultimately flopped painfully.
Behind the scenes, the work environment is said to have been stressful: former employees report in the report of an “atmosphere of fear,” and it was also assumed that overtime was required without pay or an option for compensation.
While its own production was struggling, Daedalic celebrated successes, especially as a publisher, such as with Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun from the Munich developer studio Mimimi.

Lord of the Rings: Gollum received poorly – HandOfBlood plays it anyway, puts in a lot of effort, even plays in cosplay
Many mechanics are said to have been planned that sounded great on paper, but then had to be discarded. Other elements made it into the game, but barely found application. However, due to this focus on details, some fundamental aspects fell by the wayside:

the approach of first writing a story and then building a game around it had worked well with the classic adventures, but did not work anymore with Gollum
No AAA game without AAA budget
As Daedalic explains in a statement, they did not receive the necessary support to provide the game with a larger budget or more manpower. With a budget of 15 million euros and – according to the credits – 85 people involved, the project ultimately fell far short of the original AAA ambitions.
To complete the project for its – now twice postponed – release, the infamous crunch occurred with plenty of overtime. However, according to Daedalic, this was compensated. The team seems to have made a great effort to save Gollum, despite all the difficulties.
All the harder should the employees have been affected by the devastating criticisms at release. 25 of them are said to have lost their jobs shortly thereafter with the closure of the development department.
The report strikingly shows that a toxic work environment and crunch are not problems of the large and often perceived as “soulless” AAA studios.
Addendum 09.10.2023, 18:30: We have now received a statement from Daedalic Entertainment and are adding it here:
“All of us at Daedalic are very saddened that the undoubtedly below-expectation release of Gollum is now being used as a reason to question the 17-year history of Daedalic with its numerous successes and awards as a whole. We gladly accept legitimate criticism and, for example, will review the allegations regarding internal communication between management and team in detail. However, linking the current quality problems of Gollum with general occurrences that are partly years old is far too simplistic. A prime example is the difficulties that almost all companies had when the minimum wage was introduced at the beginning of the year 2015. At that time, Daedalic tried to find a fair solution for each case and keep as many employees in the company as possible. That was over 8.5 years ago, when Gollum was not yet planned – nevertheless, this is now being constructed as one of the reasons for the failure of the game (Title Game Two: “Why Gollum had to fail”). At Daedalic, it is always important to respond transparently and openly to questions. Therefore, we are also transparently forwarding the original questions from Game Two along with our responses, which unfortunately, in our opinion, have not yet been sufficiently considered.”

Can he sufficiently cool his system this way? Probably not. Because after “MFWildcat27” wants to test his computer with the thermal pads in place, the system crashes with a blue screen a few seconds after starting Windows. This could also have another cause, but a too high temperature of his CPU as a reason is very likely. Unfortunately, he does not provide any further comments on the cooling of his computer afterwards. There is also no feedback on whether the ordered thermal paste has solved the problem.
What does the community say about the case? In the comments under the post, some warn the unfortunate tinkerer against attempting with the pads. Too great is the risk of overheating the processor. The system could crash or components like CPU or motherboard could be permanently damaged by excessively high temperatures.
Others, however, suggest him unusual alternatives that are said to work better. Baby cream and toothpaste are supposedly a suitable substitute for the missing thermal paste. It remains unclear whether he even tried the advice.
Why is his idea not as effective as thermal paste itself? The thought of using thermal pads is not wrong. Such pads are frequently used in computers. Especially with components that reach significantly lower operating temperatures, thermal pads are more than sufficient. They are often used between heatsinks and memory chips on graphics cards as well as components on the motherboard.
The use of pads is generally not the worst idea and always better than using no thermal paste at all. However, pads are also disadvantaged compared to inexpensive thermal pastes due to their thickness. Paste is needed to fill the area between the processor and cooler. This allows the generated heat to be dissipated better and the CPU to be cooled more effectively. Additionally, the gap filling with irregularities on the processor and cooler is much better than with pads.
What is the advantage of paste in terms of thermal conductivity? Pastes contain metal oxides as their main component to efficiently dissipate heat. In combination with the other ingredients, they create a component that does not dry out quickly and can therefore be used long-term. Normally, only small amounts are needed to completely cover the processor surface.
Why is, for example, toothpaste a bad alternative? Toothpaste does not contain metal oxides. On the contrary, it can contain ingredients like various minerals that could damage surrounding components in the computer. Additionally, the problem of drying out comes into play. The water contained in the toothpaste evaporates over time. This relatively quickly diminishes its property as a liquid filler. Conductivity decreases continuously.
Therefore, it is recommended to always rely on a sensible thermal paste. Many manufacturers increasingly include such pastes with their CPU coolers. Brand products are usually slightly more effective, but the included pastes are typically sufficient for reasonable cooling.
