With the new PTR patch from Overwatch , a strong combo with two heroes is currently possible. Symmetra can wipe out entire teams with the help of her teleporter.
What is this combo? It involves the combination of the popular tank D.Va and the reworked offensive hero, former support Symmetra. The following are necessary for the combo:
- Symmetra’s teleporter
- D.Va’s ultimate “Self-Destruct”
- good timing and precision
With a new patch on the PTR, D.Va’s MEKA can currently use Symmetra’s teleporter and then flies up into the air. This allows the machine to be teleported while it self-destructs.
Previously, only a linear flight was possible. Now, the MEKA flies high into the air.
This is how the combo works: Symmetra can set a teleporter as a standard ability since her rework. She simply places an exit and other players can use the portals to move back and forth between them.
Symmetra can also transport objects, such as her own turrets. These will position themselves at the exit when passing through a portal.
D.Va’s MEKA can also pass through the portal. When D.Va uses her boosters and shortly after activates her ultimate, the MEKA continues flying independently. If it passes through the portal, it appears on the other side and flies upwards.
That’s why it’s so strong: The combination was possible before, but the MEKA’s behavior still allowed opponents to protect themselves easily.
With the new change, it’s now harder for opponents to see the MEKA correctly and defend against it. A Reinhardt shield, for example, does not protect as reliably against an explosion from above as it does from the front. But it can be even sneakier.
If Symmetra places her portals correctly and sets the starting portal below a MEKA that is just about to explode, it will be teleported to the exit immediately. It doesn’t even have to move.
This is demonstrated by a clip from reddit user andygmb. The player shows in his video how he can wipe out an entire team hiding from the explosion just before it explodes with precise timing. His clip contains some crazy scenes that are possible on the PTR.
Will this also make it to the live servers? Currently, it is unknown whether this is an intended and planned change or a bug. The combo is only possible on the PTR. Whether it will ever make it to live servers is still uncertain.
