In Amazon’s MMORPG New World, the end has already been announced. Nevertheless, the game is now receiving a major update.
Which MMORPG is it? Amazon has already announced that it will shut down its MMORPG New World. On January 31, 2027, the developers plan to take the game offline.
While potential takeover talks with the creators of Rust are still ongoing in the background, players will receive a new update.
Here you can learn more about the sad story of New World:
Update with many improvements
What kind of update is this? The developers of New World have released a new update today that addresses several issues and brings new possibilities. While there are no more content updates, players can look forward to some improvements.
According to X.com, the new update brings the ability to transfer your character to a new region. At the same time, all players can use all transmogifications without restriction. Those playing New World on Steam can rejoice over a fix for achievements. These were previously broken and should now work again.
Furthermore, the update is supposed to bring a variety of features that will enhance the quality of life and make the MMORPG more enjoyable to play.
What else has changed? Not only have many of you long since left New World, but player numbers in general are looking anything but rosy. The MMORPG is struggling to reach 1,000 players during peak times in the week. According to SteamDB, it hasn’t been enough lately.
To ensure that the MMORPG works for the remaining players, the developers have decreased the number of players required per activity. The game mode “Outpost Rush” now functions as 8-vs-8, and the game mode “Capture the Flag” as 5-vs-5. Additionally, there will be unlimited consumables in Outpost Rush.
In wars in New World, there are now lower limits for mercenaries who can join a fight.
Even as New World approaches its end, the remaining developers are trying to get the best for the players. Meanwhile, the situation for sister MMORPG Lost Ark is only a little better: After layoffs, fans are concerned about Amazon’s penultimate MMORPG, is Lost Ark facing the same fate as New World?
