Recently, the celebrations for the 10th anniversary of Pokémon GO have started. And already now a reward awaits you in the game.
Last weekend, the Super Bowl took place in the USA, the final of an American football season. Pokémon was featured in one of the coveted advertising spaces and announced in this context the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise as well as the 10th anniversary of Pokémon GO.
In Pokémon GO, the celebrations were kicked off with a new photo feature. A savvy user has now discovered how you can also snag some nice rewards for this – you just need to fulfill a small requirement first.
Log out, take a photo, claim rewards
How do I receive the rewards? You can find the photo feature titled “What’s your favorite” in the game when you open the menu. Here you will see a new button with a Pikachu at the bottom that allows you to start the feature.
As user Lobster-Mittens has discovered on Reddit, you must log out of the game first if you want to receive the rewards. You can do this by opening the menu, going to settings, and then clicking on log out at the very bottom.
There, on the login screen, you can also use the photo feature of the event. Do this by selecting a monster and taking a photo. Once you have done that, you can log back into the game.
If you then check your special research, you will see there a completed special research titled “What’s your favorite?” that you can redeem immediately.
What rewards are there? If you have received the special research, you can look forward to over 10,100 Stardust, 5 rare candies, and a lucky egg.
What problems are there? In the post on Reddit, some trainers report that it does not work properly for them, and they receive an error message when trying to take a photo while logged out. The exact reason for this is not yet known.
User LkMMoDC writes that the Google AR Services must be installed on your smartphone. You also need to grant Pokémon GO permissions for the camera. If you have problems taking the photo, you can check whether both conditions are met on your smartphone.
