What game is this about? Shadow of the Road is a story-driven RPG developed by Another Angle Games. You can currently sign up for a free playtest for the game on Steam. Turn-based tactics in feudal Japan
What is the game about? Shadow of the Road takes place in feudal Japan, but expands the setting with magic, Yōkai, and steampunk machines. Yōkai are beings in Japanese folklore comparable to spirits and demons.
In 1868, a civil war rages in Japan between the traditionalist forces of Shōgun Tokugawa and the technologically superior army of Emperor Mutsuhito. As Tokugawa’s master spy, you escort a mysterious boy with enormous, uncontrollable powers along with the Ronin Satoru and Akira.
Fights in Shadow of the Road are turn-based. As in XCOM, the right positioning of your group members plays an important role: Only then can they effectively support each other in battle and quickly eliminate enemies before they overwhelm you.
Between missions, you will also face decisions, as is typical for a classic RPG. Depending on how you decide in the key moments of the story, future events in the game will also unfold differently.
When will the game be released? Shadow of the Road still doesn’t have an official release date. The free playtest offers the best opportunity to try out the game. However, spots for the alpha may be limited, so if you’re interested, you should secure access quickly.
