What kind of football league is this? The Kings League is a small field league where players compete 7vs7 in 2 halves of 20 minutes each. The league was launched in 2022 by former world-class player Gerard Piqué.
Originating from Spain, the Kings League has gained traction in more and more countries in recent years. Now the football league is coming to Germany and kicks off this Saturday, April 12, 2025.

How can you follow the Kings League? The kickoff is on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Each match day will be broadcast live on the official YouTube- and Twitch channel of the Kings League. The pregame show starts at 5:15 PM, and the first official game begins at 6:00 PM.
The first match day will also be accompanied by one of the participants, the internationally successful TikToker Younes Zarou on Twitch . We expect that each match day will additionally be shown by the Twitch channel of another participant alongside the official streams.
What role do the streamers play? Each of the participating streamers is the president of their team, thus representing their club. Although they do not actively participate on the field as chairmen, they can intervene in the match as jokers due to special rules.

Which streamers are participating? Various streamers from Germany are involved, who are among the most successful in their areas. They compete in a total of 8 teams either alone as a duo with another content creator or together with current/former football stars:

What kind of footballers play in the Kings League? Each team consists of ten selected players from a draft – including professionals outside the German Football League (DFL), kickers from the amateur league, as well as talented footballers from the community. Additionally, up to three other players can be flexibly added per match day.
What rules are there in the Kings League? Thanks to unusual game rules and special boosts, dynamic matches arise where everything can change in a short time. We have summarized the most important rules and peculiarities of the Kings League for you:
- Format: 7 against 7 (6 players + 1 goalkeeper per team)
- Duration: 2 halves of 20 minutes each
- Before each game, there are secret cards that can be used once as a surprise effect:
- Double goals: For four minutes, own goals count double
- Shootout: A penalty from the midfield, 1-on-1 against the goalkeeper
- Time penalty: Opponent player receives a time penalty for 4 minutes
- Penalty: Immediate regular penalty
- Star player: The first goal of a selected player counts double
- Joker: Allows free selection of any card
- Kickoff: The game starts with 1vs1 and goalkeeper, every additional minute a new player joins.
- President penalty: Each team is entitled to one president’s penalty per game.
- Substitutions can be made without limit

- Video evidence challenge: Each team may request video referee assistance for potential rule violations. If the request is successful, the challenge is returned – if failed, it is forfeited.
- Countdown start: Both teams start the game on their own goal line and run towards the ball in the middle on the countdown.
- In the 18th minute of the first half, a large die will be thrown, which determines the number of players on the field (1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3, 4vs4, 5vs5, or 6vs6) for the last two minutes.
- Time penalties: Yellow card results in a two-minute time penalty, a red card results in a five-minute penalty without the affected player being allowed to re-enter.
- No draw: In case of a tie, a penalty shootout follows.
- Double goal: From the 38th minute, every goal counts double.
- Golden goal: If the score is tied in the 38th minute, the golden goal rule applies until the end of the game.

When do the match days take place? In the next 4 weekends, there will be 2 match days each Saturday and Sunday. The two best teams qualify for the international Kings World Cup and compete in a tournament against the strongest teams of the Kings Leagues from Spain, the USA, Italy, Brazil, and France.
