Monster Hunter World has received a new trailer showcasing particularly brutal monsters. The aggressive creatures live in the Rotten Vale – Anyone hunting here must be tough and resilient.
In the Rotten Vale, the putrid smell of decay almost creeps into your nose. Bones and the blood of dead monsters are scattered all over the ground, while a toxic gas tries to consume everything around it.
What is known about the Rotten Vale so far?
The Rotten Vale is a new map in Monster Hunter World that features a deep tunnel system. The further hunters venture into the vale, the more ruthless and dangerous the journey becomes.
A yellowish gas swirls about, filled with toxins. If hunters inhale too much of it, they can choke on the poison. The gas also makes monsters extremely aggressive – Even if they usually have a peaceful disposition.
The creatures attack anything that comes near. That’s likely why there are corpses and bones of monsters found everywhere.

The trailer featured new monsters that have not existed in the franchise before.
Odogaron
- The Odogaron belongs to the Savage Claw Wyverns.
- It has huge fangs and claws.
- The flesh of the lizard seems mostly exposed. However, thorny scales are visible on its tail and head.
- The Odogaron lives in the Rotten Vale and Coral Highlands.
Great Girros
- The Great Girros is a fanged wyvern and belongs to the large monsters.
- The lizard has two enormous, pointed teeth at the front of its mouth.
- The creature can induce a paralysis effect.
- Great Girros live in the Rotten Vale.
- It is related to Girros, Jagras, and Large Jagras.
Girros
- Girros is a fanged wyvern and belongs to the small monsters.
- The lizard has like the Great Girros two huge, pointed teeth at the front of its mouth.
- The creature can induce a paralysis effect.
- Girros live in the Rotten Vale.
- It is related to Great Girros, Jagras, and Large Jagras.
Radobaan
- The Radobaan is a large monster and belongs to the brutal wyverns.
- It is covered in massive bones that protrude from its body like spikes.
- The Radobaan lives in the Rotten Vale.
- It is related to the Uragaan.
Nameless Monster
- Little is known about the nameless monster, and it only appears briefly in the trailer.
The nameless monster seems to be breaking out of the ground. It is presumably a large monster and possesses two large, pointed front teeth like the Girros.
I can almost smell the decay and I’m looking forward to it!
Leya says: The Rotten Vale seems to be one of the later areas in Monster Hunter World. The trailer radiates death and danger: The monsters surrounding the hunter, the toxic gas, the blood, and the bones.
The environment itself is dark and shaded in gloomy colors, with no hint of green – In this vale, very little stands a chance of surviving.
All monsters have these nasty, small, glowing eyes and huge teeth and claws. The Odogaron even looks as if it is halfway decomposed.
I’m really looking forward to being spooked in the Rotten Vale. Right here, I expect my heart to race because of all the dangers lurking around every corner.
The whole vale feels like a terrible nightmare, both frightening and fascinating at the same time.
