A $1000 tournament took place in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive only for women in Singapore. It was conducted online. A man wanted to participate in the CS:GO tournament – but was quickly found out despite wearing a mask and wig. He is sure to be the subject of ridicule.
This was the tournament: The CS:GO tournament “Legion of Valkyries CS:GO May 2020” is currently taking place on the Singapore server. The total prize pool is $1000 – the winning team receives $600.
The tournament is sponsored by Lenovo and Intel and is open only to female gamers. 33 teams were allowed to participate in the tournament.
Webcam requirement becomes the downfall of a disguised man
This was the special rule: To ensure that everything remains above board, the organizers established a special rule: All players must have a video call open while playing, either via PC or smartphone. They must play with an active webcam.
This is how the organizers aim to ensure that it is indeed the women who registered for the tournament who are playing and no one else.
This stood out: Despite these clear rules, a male player attempted to sneak into the tournament, which was explicitly for women.
He wore a black wig, glasses with particularly large lenses, and a breathing mask. The combination must have seemed suspicious.
The tournament organizers asked the person via Discord to remove the mask. It was clearly recognizable that a man was playing.
This revealed the deception. The player’s team was eliminated in the 1st round – the prize money now goes to another team.
