The weekly update in Lost Ark does not bring any noticeable changes for players today, August 17. However, preparations are underway for next week. We at MeinMMO summarize.
When are the servers down? Today, August 17, at 9 AM German time, the servers will go offline for 4 hours for the weekly maintenance. If everything goes according to plan, you should be able to play again by 1 PM.
This means the downtime for Lost Ark has even been extended by two hours. In the initial announcement of the weekly maintenance, only two hours were mentioned instead of four. According to community manager Roxx, the maintenance needs to be extended because the programmers requested more time.
Much downtime for … nothing? This week is also the first weekly patch in Lost Ark that comes completely without patch notes. This means that for players, primarily nothing changes at all.
This has caused frustration among some fans in the forum, as they cannot play for four hours, yet there are no changes for them.
Lost Ark emphasizes that the patch involves backend work, but does not specify further.

What changes could happen? Since the developers do not specify exactly what backend work they are doing, we can only speculate at this point. It is quite possible that these are preparations for the major August update.
This is supposed to arrive in Arkesia next week and will include the new pet ranch along with legendary companions starting August 24. To ensure this goes smoothly, some things may need to be adjusted in the backend.
It is also conceivable that Lost Ark wants to further address the Powerpass problem. While they have currently fixed the free passes, the paid versions have not been addressed. Players who want to spend money for a boost are currently left in the cold.
