In League of Legends, there is a new category of rare skins. The first should be Jinx’s special skin from Arcane, but the community is disappointed.
What kind of skin is this? In October, the developers of League of Legends released a new category of skins. These are called exalted skins and belong to the expensive skins, which Riot wants to release more frequently from now on.
Riot itself states on their website that this skin category is “hyper-exclusive” and they would “push the design and technical abilities to create the best possible skin for the unique fantasy of each champion within a given theme.”
Now Riot has announced the first skin of this kind: Jinx’s skin from Arcane. However, even though the words “Arcane” and “Jinx” should be enough for many as buying arguments, the community refuses to buy the skin.
In the following video, you can find out how much Arcane cost:
Little quality for a lot of money
What bothers the players about the skin? Players have already compiled entire lists of complaints about the “Torn Jinx (Arcane)” skin on Reddit. The most common complaint from players is that Jinx does not receive a button to put on a hood with the new skin. Her skin comes completely without a hood, even though this is iconic for many players.
This fan request is only fulfilled for players of League of Legends: Wild Rift. The mobile version now also has an Arcane skin, but with a hood.
Many prefer the Wild Rift skin and want it in the PC game instead of the one they are currently getting. OSRS_4Nick8 writes on Reddit: “I would also suggest that they add the epic skin ‘Wild Rift Jinx’ as an epic skin; I’m sure it would sell really well.”
Another point that annoys players is the three different forms of the skin. These can be changed through a gambling mechanism, but despite differing colors, styles, and ability effects, they do not differ much in reality. Some players had hoped for three truly completely different appearances.
Another point that players criticize on Reddit is the overall quality of the skin. A rocket effect of the new skin looks like that of the under 10 € (via in-game-rechner.de) expensive “Arcane Enemy Jinx” skin. The animations do not look good to some, and the fact that the Chompers do not change their E ability when you select a different form of the skin is also unpopular.
Hyper-Exclusive only through Gambling
How can one obtain the skin? To even get the “Torn Jinx (Arcane)” skin, players first need to buy the new currency called “Ancient Sparks.” These cost 400 RP, which is approximately 3.50 € (via in-game-rechner.de). With the new currency, players can then try to obtain the skin.
The chance of winning the skin through gambling is 0.5%. If the skin is not obtained after 80 draws, “unlucky protection” kicks in, capping the maximum expenditure at 32,000 RP or approximately 277 € (via in-game-rechner.de).
As consolation prizes, there are also further cosmetic items, such as skins and mythical essences. Riot wants to make the skins rarer this way without directly calling for excessively high prices. That the skins of LoL will also become more luxurious in the future is also demonstrated by the collaboration with a well-known manufacturer: The fashion label Louis Vuitton is now designing skins for LoL
